Windrose Cottage is a wonderful quiet place to connect with nature, read a good book and share a romantic retreat! Windrose Cottage sits on 3 acres of spectacular ocean bluffs in the stunning Baker Ranch community. Guests can unplug and unwind at Windrose Cottage or curl up and enjoy the Wifi and new t.v.! Let the sound of the bell buoy lull you to sleep. Located just a few miles from Trinidad, Take a 10 minute walk to Baker Beach to go tide-pooling and enjoy a picnic. The uphill hike back up from this beach is a good work out and requires sturdy hiking shoes or take a short drive to one of Trinidad's more accessible but equally spectacular beaches, Moonstone or Trinidad State Beach.

The cottage is a quaint one room suite with an open floor plan filled with warmth and charm. Start the day sipping coffee on the sunny deck, taking in great ocean views and breathing the sea air. The queen bedroom is cozy, comforting and romantic with a gas wood stove, Queen Tempurpedic bed, high quality linens and great coastal decor. Enjoy a nap or good book in the comfortable recliner by the gas wood stove. Soak up some deep relaxation in the claw foot tub (w/ hand held shower) after some Redwood adventures. The kitchen is small but well equipped with a wooden butcher block island, gas stove & grill, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and blender. Sorry, no oven or dishwasher but plenty of quality cookware provided. Nice dine in kitchen area has a lovely table for two or open the French doors and dine on the deck. Visit local farmer's and fish markets to cook a great local meal on the charcoal barbecue.

This is a shared property with the lovely owners living in their separate main home. They welcome guests to enjoy wandering the 3 acres of ocean view property, sit on the red meditation bench and soak up the serenity. There is a large Native American inspired sauna that guests may sneak a peak of but are not permitted to use, sorry. The owners are very friendly and will respect guests privacy and asks guests to kindly do the same. Don’t miss out on this wonderful one of a kind vacation cottage. A real Trinidad gem!

RESERVATION ALTERATIONS OPTIONS:
Guests cancelling less than 14 days to arrival may make a one time reservation date change for the same property, without a fee for the same calendar year, or renter may take a credit for a future stay at the same property, without a fee for the same calendar year. No rental refunds will be given for circumstances beyond our control such as planned or unexpected PG&E power outages, road closures, weather related issues or other “Acts of God”. When possible we will offer a one time reservation date change for the same property within the same travel season.

DAMAGE PROTECTION FEE: charges a $39 non-refundable damage protection fee. This fee protects guests for up to $500 in accidental damage that may include: stained bedding or linens; broken lamps, glassware and windows; damaged doors, walls or furniture; torn screen doors, etc. This fee does not cover normal wear and tear. After a guest’s departure and inspection of the home, management will notify the responsible party of any excessive damages including photos, a description of the damage and an assessment of the cost of replacing or repairing the damaged item that exceeds $500. Any cost over $500 required for this repair or replaced item will be charged to the credit card on file. We encourage guests to do a thorough inspection of the property upon arrival and notify management of any existing damages, stains, or broken items so as not to be held responsible.

COVID Related Cancellation - Cancellations made by either the guest or for any stays made after March 14, 2020 due to COVID-19 related circumstances such as: illness, transportation disruptions and cancellations; travel advisories and restrictions; health advisories and quarantines; changes to applicable law; and other government mandates—like evacuation orders, stay at home orders, border closures, prohibitions on short-term rentals, and shelter-in-place requirements will not be considered an extenuating circumstance and our cancellation policy will apply as usual. After the declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, this extenuating circumstance no longer applies because COVID-19 and its consequences are no longer unforeseen or unexpected and are considered a known travel risk. "Comfortable cottage getaway
The Windrose Cottage was a comfortable, quiet getaway. It is the perfect size for a couple seeking a cozy retreat, or a solo traveler looking for solitude. Its location is a convenient homebase for the Redwood National Park, or for exploring the coast. Trinidad is a quaint coastal town with a good coffee shop, grocery store, and local food options. Eureka is accessible if there is a need for city necessities, but the cottage has a fully stocked kitchen.

The fireplace is easy to control and heats the space adequately, while making for a relaxing place to sit back. The bath is a treat where you can melt into the warm water while looking up through the sunroof and through the trees. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean, and all the common amenities were in good working condition.

We didn’t get to use the porch due to weather, but we did get an exciting visit from a banana slug. Out the back is the owner’s house, and while you do have to walk past it into what is essentially their backyard, you do have access to the benches that overlook a stunning view of the ocean. We sat there for hours watching the sunset. Going to the beach requires a short hike and the return is quite steep, which might be a problem for some. The beach itself is scenic and sandy with a rocky section full of tide pools.

Overall, we were quite satisfied, and it was exactly what we were looking for to quietly ring in the new year.

"Perfect and lovely
This quaint cottage is sitting some very beautiful property with a view that is very hard to beat! The very first night there the sunset was awe inspiring. Deep orange and pink. Beautiful. The location is remote enough to be private but within five minutes of town. It’s close to several beaches that are must see! Everything was perfect, the town has wonderful people. The views demand attention. The hosts were very nice. Inside the cottage is a book full of ideas about the area. The place was stocked very well for cooking. Very clean and accommodating. Just beautiful. I WILL return here one day for another visit. It’s great for couples but it’s just as great for solo travelers like me."

Location was great, property was well-maintained and quiet. It rained a lot so the parking space was muddy- needs some gravel. Cottage had everything we needed and the bed was the most comfortable of our entire trip! The view from the yard of the main house was amazing, although we did feel like we were intruding when we walked over there so we didn't hang out long. I would definitely recommend this property!"

"Beautiful retreat near the majestic shore line of the Pacific.
As we drove within one mile of this cottage, I had tears in my eyes. Loved the location and since it was dusk when we arrived, the sun was setting over the ocean. It was beautiful! I took many wonderful photographs of this breathtaking ocean view. We loved the cottage. It suited our needs completely. We wanted to fix our own meals and the kitchen was equiped with everything we needed. I loved the enterior decor and we had ample heat from the electric stove that was controlled with a thermostat for the chilly March nights. My husband, using the outdoor grill, made perfect steaks for an evening meal. The bathroom was so cutely decorated. I loved the yellow decor and the skylight that gave an added feeling of openness. We were happy that this place was only 24 miles south of the Redwood National Park. We drove there each of the two days during our stay. It was a wonderful experience. An added bonus was seeing the Gray Whales. They start their migration from the southern California coastline up towards the Artic Ocean during the months of March and April. We would love to stay in this lovely little cottage for two when we return to California again to see the National Parks and enjoy driving along the California coastline. "

"Cottage Review Trinidad
The place was clean but the advertisement for the property is misleading. You are basically in front of someone’s personal residence. There was a house there with a family. You do not feel as secluded as the pictures show the property to be. The parking spot is horrible if you own a full size vehicle. When it says beach front access, that’s also a lie. You have to either walk a long way or drive to get to a beach. And you feel boxed in because you don’t want to disturb the homeowners in front of the property. They have the real ocean view. I will say it was clean and the bed is comfortable, but we will not be staying there again if we stay in a rental property in Trinidad."

"Quiet secluded vacation spot
This was a great place to go out to the beaches anywhere around Eureka Bay, especially north. There were many state beaches and coves with easy access as well as redwood groves. Trinidad grocery store has everything you would need.

"A great place to stay while exploring the Redwoods
We stayed in the Windrose Cottage while visiting the Redwoods. The cottage was clean and the location was perfect being between the Humboldt National Park and the Redwoods National Park. Having a gorgeous ocean view only a few steps away was a great perk. My only complaint is that the only shower requires you to sit in a large tub. That would normally be fine, but I have fibromyalgia making it very hard for me to get in and out of the tub. "

A clean, adorable,private cottage on a beautiful property with incredible views. Great location with easy access to local beaches and the redwoods. Perfect for a romantic getaway, but spacious enough to include an infant (if you must). " Fabulous cottage retreat
