Nearby Activities in Kailua Kona

Kailua-Kona, HI

Kona, HI

1. Take a boat out of Keauhou Bay right around the corner from us. If you have kids, take the fair winds boat or older folks to snorkel as they have stairs, floating gear, snorkel gear, and also 2 slides and places to jump from boat.
You can also swim with the Manta Rays at night from there. There are also other smaller boats that go to a cave. Brochures in condo at foyer entrance.

2. Check out Hilo on the other side of the island. Quaint shops and beautiful waterfalls. Rainbow Falls is hardly any hiking and close to road, and Akaka falls small 1/2 mile walk.

3. If one of the volcanoes is erupting, take a trip there and Hilo and make it a day. It's a must-see and better to see when dark.

4. Take the submarine or glass bottom boat out from downtown Kona. Great fun for all ages if you don't want to get in the water.

5. Swim with the dolphins at the Hilton in Waikoloa village about 45 min north and hang out in their bay to swim with the turtles and enjoy the water slides and pools. It does cost extra to visit for the day but they will give you half off if swimming with dolphins when you ask. While you are there, check out the white sandy beaches along the way, down any of the roads off the hwy. There are some great ones by four seasons hotel.

6. Go parasailing off the boats from Kona if you're adventurous, which takes you very high above the Pacific Ocean.

7. Helicopter ride is once in a lifetime treat and a great way to see the island. Note that it is pricey. Last I checked, it was $700 per person.

8. Snorkel at the beach just a couple min from our place at the black sands beach Kahalu'u beach. Note bring water shoes and snorkel gear and alcohol wipes, bandaids, as you can sometimes scrape knees, etc, on the rocks there. Lifeguard will provide, too. We have snorkel gear in outside closet where car is parked and closet in Lanai. We also have some coolers, chairs, beach bags, umbrellas, beach blankets, boogie boards, etc.

9. White Sands Beach is 5 min away, and its beautiful white sands draw tourists that pass by on Alii's Dr, so go early for parking across the street or on the street there.

10. Zip lining is another adventurous thing to do near Hilo mostly. There are some brochures in our foyer.

11. Horseback riding several places on the island, especially north is a great way to see the beauty of the island.

12. Of course one of my favorite things to do is hang out at our beautiful resort, relax and go swimming at one of our 3 pools, jacuzzis or play ping pong and tennis, or read a book in the library there or play some games. Relaxing on our Lanai is a special comfy treat and you won't want to leave.

There is something for everyone on the big island and our beautiful, comfy place. Enjoy!

Mahalo,

Rita
