Moonstone Beach Retreat, perched above beautiful Moonstone Beach is perfect for 2 couples, close friends or a small family looking for a relaxing beach getaway. Endless seascapes & mesmerizing sunset views just a few minutes walk down to the beach! The friendly owner has private quarters below with a separate entrance downstairs. She keeps to herself when visiting and respects guests' privacy. The endless views of Clam Beach and Little River combined with the proximity to Moonstone Beach make this home a great spot for exploring the North Coast. Moonstone Beach is a local family favorite beach that is best known for great surfing, kayaking and fun exploring with rocks to climb, tide pools, sea caves and pristine sand. Running and fitness enthusiasts will love taking the downhill stroll to Moonstone beach, crossing Little River and walking or running for miles on Clam Beach. On a low tide walking north on the beach will lead all the way to Camel Rock, a popular surf spot. After a day of exploring the Redwoods and beaches guests will love sitting on the South facing deck soaking up sunset views.

The open floor plan is spacious and bathed in natural light from the unadorned windows. This beach house is decorated with a mix of modern and vintage decor that creates a comfy vibe with a large contemporary sectional sofa plus 3 old fashioned rocking chairs perfect for lounging and enjoying movies on the large Smart TV. The open living room feels like a solarium with expansive windows without coverings that allow the outdoor views inside. The newly remodeled kitchen is fully equipped for all of your culinary and entertainment needs. The propane bbq is located on the deck just off the kitchen for easy grilling. This two bedroom, one bathroom home comfortably sleeps 4 adults and can accommodate 2 kids w/ twin rollaway beds. Each room has a queen bed and a fold out twin. The bathroom has a combination tub/shower. The full sized washer and dryer are conveniently located in the hall closet. Convenient parking in the driveway allows for two to three cars.

Moonstone Beach Retreat is located off of Scenic Drive running just below Hwy. 101 so this home is easy to access but may have some road noise along with the sounds of the sea. Drive less than three miles away from the seaside village of Trinidad which offers a full service grocery, restaurants, a wine tasting room, cafe, art gallery, museum, pier and pristine beaches. Explore nearby Trinidad Head's 45 minute loop trail with spectacular panoramic ocean views. Patrick's Point State Park just 5 miles North of Trinidad offers a plethora of outdoor activities such as hunting for agates, exploring tide pools, and hiking the majestic Elk Head Trail. Take a scenic 40 minute drive North to explore the majestic Redwood National and State Parks.

Should you wish to cancel a reservation, notice of cancellation MUST BE IN WRITING via email. *Cancellation policies may vary depending on the platform used to book the home, (Relaxed Policy), Airbnb (Strict Policy), TripAdvisor, etc. whose policies will prevail. Bookings cancelled at least 14 day before arrival: Receive a full refund minus $75 ($50 cancel & $39 non-refundable booking fee) Bookings cancelled less than 14 days to arrival: Receive a 50% refund Bookings cancelled 7 days or less to arrival: Non-refundable

RESERVATION ALTERATIONS OPTIONS:
Guests cancelling less than 14 days to arrival may make a one time reservation date change for the same property, without a fee for the same calendar year, or renter may take a credit for a future stay at the same property, without a fee for the same calendar year. No rental refunds will be given for circumstances beyond our control such as planned or unexpected PG&E power outages, road closures, weather related issues or other “Acts of God”. When possible we will offer a one time reservation date change for the same property within the same travel season.

DAMAGE PROTECTION FEE: charges a $39 non-refundable damage protection fee. This fee protects guests for up to $500 in accidental damage that may include: stained bedding or linens; broken lamps, glassware and windows; damaged doors, walls or furniture; torn screen doors, etc. This fee does not cover normal wear and tear. After a guest’s departure and inspection of the home, management will notify the responsible party of any excessive damages including photos, a description of the damage and an assessment of the cost of replacing or repairing the damaged item that exceeds $500. Any cost over $500 required for this repair or replaced item will be charged to the credit card on file. We encourage guests to do a thorough inspection of the property upon arrival and notify management of any existing damages, stains, or broken items so as not to be held responsible.

COVID Related Cancellation - Cancellations made by either the guest or for any stays made after March 14, 2020 due to COVID-19 related circumstances such as: illness, transportation disruptions and cancellations; travel advisories and restrictions; health advisories and quarantines; changes to applicable law; and other government mandates—like evacuation orders, stay at home orders, border closures, prohibitions on short-term rentals, and shelter-in-place requirements will not be considered an extenuating circumstance and our cancellation policy will apply as usual. After the declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, this extenuating circumstance no longer applies because COVID-19 and its consequences are no longer unforeseen or unexpected and are considered a known travel risk. We offer travel credit and reservation date changes as options. Please carefully consider this and our cancellation policy when booking.

"Spacious house close to Moonstone Beach
A great house with beautiful windows along the entire front of the house, open to nature and sunshine! We had gorgeous fall weather during our stay and our family lives close by so was a perfect spot for us to come together for walks and play at the beach, suppers and card games! Remodeled kitchen and open areas bright and clean as was the bathroom! I’m always thinking of a night light in rentals and that was perhaps the only thing missing! Management was excellent with our few requests, no loud traffic issues noted and both bedrooms have blackout curtains and blinds, very comfortable beds! "

"Wonderful place with view of the ocean
We had a wonderful time staying here. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfy and the view was spectacular. We were not at all. Othered by traffic noise, either during the day or at night. You can walk to the beach or to the delicious restaurant just down the hill, and you can see the ocean (or the fog) just by looking out the many living room windows. We also really enjoyed putting together the many puzzles they had on offer. We would definitely stay here again. "

"Relaxing Getaway
Immaculate rental! Nicely equipped kitchen. Good natural lighting, which was important to us as we planned to paint and scrapbook.
The ocean view is possible from one side of living room. This was a bit disappointing to us at first. However, the central location was a real plus! Easy to zip into Trinidad, get on freeway to Eureka, and The Moonstone Grill was right down the street from us. One evening, I had the PERFECT meal which we enjoyed with champagne. Make a reservation.
Also, Trinidad Retreats was a delight to work with, answering our questions quickly and fully."

"a perfect place for us
This house was lovely. Modern, with good kitchen and spacious living quarters. A view to die for. I spent most of my time at the house sitting on the deck with a beer and my computer. Then near sunset my wife and I would drive one minute down to the beach, which was beautiful. The house was about half an hour from stunning redwoods, which we visited every day. Found Katy's smoked fish in Trinidad near the end of our stay. And we had no problems with the noise from the street (we always have a bit of white noise going when we sleep). Would definitely come back."

We had a great month's stay at Moonstone Beach Retreat. The house was clean, very spacious, & beds comfortable, but the best part of staying there was the phenomenal view of Clam Beach & Little River. The house is very close to Hwy 101, but traffic noise wasn't much of an issue for us. We prepared most of our meals at the house. The kitchen was great but would suggest adding some measuring spoons & a set of measuring cups, plus a tea kettle. The house was centrally located for all our Humboldt County explorations. We went as far south as Ferndale & as far north as Redwoods National Park. Loved the views & our hike in Lost Coast Preserve near Centerville Beach, west of Ferndale. Explored Humboldt Botanical Gardens by College of the Redwoods, plus drove thru the farmlands of Ferndale, also to the South Jetty, & the Eureka Marina. Beach combed Mad River Beach(found lots of sand dollars), Clam Beach, Moonstone Beach(walking distance to the rental house),& Luffenholz Beach & Houda Point(also walking distance to the house). Walked the Rim Trail at Patrick's Point St Pk & the Trillium Falls Trail at Prairie Creek Redwoods St Pk, plus other trails in Redwoods Ntl Pk. Loved staying at Moonstone Beach Retreat!!! "

"Not as expected
The house had a nice view and was an easy walk to the beach. Unfortunately, it is located on a well-traveled street and is literally 100 feet from the freeway. Noise from passing traffic was considerable day and night, and overpowered the sound of the surf most of the time. Headlights from passing traffic were visible all night in both bedrooms (no window coverings on the windows facing the road). the neighbors’ outside lighting burned into the main living area and one of the bedrooms from dusk to dawn. The window covering in the bedroom was inadequate to block out the light. The hosts were non-responsive when asked if there were something that could be done about the lights. No response of any kind.
Bring earplugs and eyeshades if you stay here. "
