Welcome to Hale Ulu Kealoha - "The House of Growing Love"
In the historic town of Hilo, Hawaii on the east side of the island where tourists mingle with locals and really experience the 'Spirit of Aloha', we welcome you to stay in our home to enjoy Hilo and surrounding areas. The two story house features the upstairs main living area with a full kitchen, dining area, big living room, three bedrooms and one full bathroom. The kitchen includes a range for cooking and baking, microwave, and full size refrigerator. The dining area seats six guests comfortably. The living room boasts an upright piano as well as TV, free Wi-Fi, and books to acquaint you with our island.

The full downstairs floor is centered around a large rec room with lots of couch seating, a large flat screen streaming TV, and one private sleeping area (perfect for teens and young adults). There is also another bathroom with a large tiled, walk-in shower. The laundry room for the house is on this bottom level and available for your use.

Hale Ulu Kealoha sleeps up to 8 guests.

Fly into Hilo International Airport (12 minute drive) or Kona Airport (90 minute drive). We highly recommend spending a few days exploring Hilo and surrounding areas including Rainbow Falls (5 minute drive), Kaumana Caves (10 minute drive), Imiloa Astronomy Center, Volcanoes National Park (45 minute drive), historic Hamakua corridor and inspiring local shops and restaurants just a few minutes drive (or walk) from the house. 6. CANCELLATION POLICY (not applicable to Hale Kai Suites. See section f, below): To offer you the best services possible, we strictly adhere to our cancellation policy. Guest shall inform Agent in writing of Guest’s intention to cancel the reservation. (For reservations made through third parties, additional cancellation policies may apply.) The cancellation policy is as follows:
a. If Cancellation notice is received thirty or more days (30+) prior to the check-in date, a cancellation fee of $75.00 will be retained and the balance will be refunded within 7 days from receipt of written cancellation.
b. If Cancellation notice is received less than thirty days but at least fifteen days (15-29) prior to the check-in date, fifty percent (50%) of the booking amount of rent and taxes will be forfeited. Half of the rent, tax, security deposit or damage waiver and any pre-collected cleaning fees will be refunded within 7 days from receipt of written cancellation.
c. NO REFUNDS if cancelled within 14 days of arrival (0 – 14). As a courtesy to our Guest, if Agent can rebook any portion of the canceled reservation, Guest will be refunded to the extent that Agent is able to re-book the Property.
d. This loss can be avoided if Travel Protection Insurance was purchased and the reason for cancelation is covered under the travel insurance policy. All reservation changes must be acknowledged in writing.
e. Owner/Agent Cancellation Policy: In the unlikely event that the Property becomes unavailable for any part of the tenancy for reasons beyond the control of the Agent, including but not limited to the sale of the property, Owner and/or Agent may cancel this Agreement and refund in full to the Guest all payments made. Agent will assist in procuring similar alternative accommodation should this situation arise. Guest agrees that any claims against Owner/Agent arising out of performance or
non-performance under this agreement shall be limited to a full refund of all consideration previously tendered by Guest.
f. Hale Kai Suites Cancellation Policy: The guest may cancel free of charge up to 14 days prior to arrival. The guest will be charged 50% of the total price if they cancel in the 14 days before arrival. No $75 cancellation fee charged on Hale Kai Suites cancellations.

"Laid back family retreat
This home was perfect for a family of 7 people: nice sized comfortable
bedrooms and family rooms, and kitchen well stocked with pans, dishes and various ovens. It even had some beach items. Even though there is no air conditioning, we were comfortable most of the time except the first night. We arrived in the evening and the windows were closed; it took awhile for it to cool down. The house was near many of the sites we wanted to see. We did hear some traffic noise, especially the first night with horn honking noises during the night. We would stay here again. "

"Rental house in Hilo
Our first time stay in Hilo was fantastic. We had stay in hotel in Hilo before but this house made our Hilo experience much more fun. The house had classic Hawaii vibe, felt welcome and comfortable for my family of 5. The location was perfect. 20 min walk or 5 min drive to Hilo town. We had a lot of fun during our stay. The house was really clean and maintained. Thank you!"

The location in the downtown area of Hilo made it super accessible and convenient. I definitely recommend staying there whenever you’re in east Hawaii. Very clean and organized with plenty space and comfortable furniture! Five stars.

"Great family vacation spot!
My extended family loved staying in this cute house. Everything was just as advertised. The location in Hilo was perfect for exploring the area, and everyone had plenty of space. My niece was able to practice her piano lessons! Would definitely stay here again. "

"Hilo Trip
What a lovely surprise! This house was perfect for our large family, traveling with three generations to Hilo. We normally stay on the Kona side but decided to fly into Hilo from Honolulu and this house is maybe 15 minutes from the airport. The home is in town and convenient to the historic downtown area. We did not know there was so many places to eat and the farmers market is open everyday. Rainbow falls is a must see and the scenic drive up the Hamakua coast is so beautiful. After spending all day out it was very relaxing to have separate spaces in the house for everyone to do their own thing. There are two living rooms with one upstairs and the other downstairs. Well stocked with all essentials and convenient for stay, definitely worth checking out when you’re in Hilo.

"So much space!
This vacation house is really nice and big! Upstairs is the main house with bedrooms, kitchen and living room. Then the downstairs has a giant rec room with lots of sofas and a big TV. It was a perfect spot for our kids to hang out together while the adults could be more relaxed upstairs. We had 4 adults and 3 kids for a week and everyone loved this place. We hope to visit Hilo again and stay here!"
