"spring break 2019
We could not get enough of the view from this villa. We ate almost every meal on the lanai and loved how peaceful it was even during one of their busiest weeks of the year. The best part was feeling very remote and private, like it was our own little island."

"Great stay
I was an awesome vacation experience."
Mar 04, 2019 - Gilbert D., Placida, FL

It's a beautiful island with lots to do, but the unit we were in had issues. We were there 3 nights, mostly w/o A/C, in low 80's temp. Repairman there twice. Heavy dust everywhere, grimy dishes, porch furniture dirty, one chair heavily mildewed, TV, remotes, & dishwasher had issues, broken curtain draw bars, etc. Office offered to move us & would have sent cleaning crew if we had called, but it shouldn't have been like that to begin with for $400 a night!"

"Palm Island - Just ok
Nice and clean. A bit old and outdoor furniture definitely needs replacing. The room has a very distinct moldy smell and if you have allergies like I do, it's pretty awful."

"Another wonderful relaxing getaway at my favorite place ever!
I have been coming to this resort for 30 years and I will continue to visit for the next 30 years. It is so relaxing and beautiful. My favorite thing to do is walk the beach for shells and sharks teeth all day. Of course chairs are everywhere for those who prefer to rest. The rooms are nice, the restaurant/bar is all you need. Love the people and cruising in the golf cart all around the island. The public does not have access and it so serene & tranquil! I can't say enough wonderful things about this resort/island so I will stop to discourage crowds. If you want to get away and be forced to do nothing while enjoying it come check out this little oasis of paradise a ferry ride away from reality (in case you need a dose)! "

"Great get-away!
The condo was clean, well stocked, on a good section of beach, close to the pool-all in all it was great! Palm Island is a perfect place. (just wish the resort restaurant would get decent glassware-I hate drinking out of plastic glasses. Feel like a toddler😳). Staff is friendly and helpful. "

"Stunning views & very well appointed unit
This was our second visit to Palm Island Resort. The unit was very nice & we would definitely consider rebooking this unit. The kitchen had almost everything. We didn't have oven mitts, hot pot pads or dish towels. We notified the front desk & they had hot pot pads & dish towels promptly delivered to our unit. The unit was also missing a spatula and a pasta scoop. I purchased a spatula on an off island grocery store run & left it at the unit. I couldn't find a pasta scoop. The air conditioner needs checked b/c it was difficult to cool the unit. We pulled the shades closed, turned the AC down to 70, left the ceiling fans running & opened the two sliding glass doors during the day in an attempt to keep the unit cool. This meant that the unit was left unlocked when we were at the pool or the beach which we do not typically like to do. The toilet in the front small bathroom needs to be checked as it makes a very loud noise after being flushed. This unit is very nicely decorated, the bathrooms have been upgraded, beds are comfy & the sofa is super comfy. The best thing about this unit by far is the view. It is absolutely AMAZING. 5 star review without question despite a few glitches. We are already planning out return trip! "

"Perfectly Peaceful Spring Break
Our family loves the peace and quiet of Palm Island Resort! The Villa was perfectly situated with easy access to the beach and amazing views - especially of the spectacular sunsets. Villa was clean, comfortable and pretty well-appointed. Some suggestions to make it top-notch would include upgrades to appliances (fridge, dryer, toaster)fresh paint in some areas and new patio furniture and twin beds that don't squeak with every move. The wifi availability was also spotty and unreliable, which we hadn't experienced during our previous visit. This is offered as feedback only as we were happy with our accommodations and loved every moment of our trip. Spent most of our time on the beach, at the pool or playing tennis. Also rented a boat for a day to explore the beaches of many of our favorite neighboring islands and sand bars. Management and staff always pleasant and very helpful with questions and suggestions. Something new we like this year was the Hospitality App that Palm Island utilized to communicate with guests. Another great Palm Island experience. We'll be back. "

"October 2017 Stay
Aside from the back ache each morning from the beds...we tried both bedrooms and the very active 8 palmetto bugs (roaches) we killed in both bedrooms, both baths, the kitchen and the living room we had a great time. "

"Dream Week
Palm Island Resort is always great! We go every year for the last 30 years. The staff and laid back environment is just the best.

We left a few items behind we called to ask about them. They looked, they found and are sending us our items. No muss no fuss. Very friendly. "

"Roaches and ants
Very disappointed, we have visited over 5 years and was called a few months prior to stay to be informed our booked unit was no longer available. We decided to stay in suggest unit and during stay we had to wash every dish every time we used them due to roach and ants. Roach poop could be seen in the drawers. We pay a lot of money to stay and experience something we don't have in our on home. It was gross. The unit it was newly decorate and nice but could have done without the ants and roaches."

"The nicest condo I stayed in at Palm Island Resort out of 5 times
Very nice updated condo, nice shower in master bathroom, nicely updated kitchen. Perfect for my family. Love the location of this condo it's in the middle of registration office & Coconuts. The only thing I may have done different is have newer pans to cook with everything stuck to these but I'm sure if I would have told someone they would have brought me some better ones. Overall excellent stay! I would stay in it again. We enjoyed this trip very much & hope to be back!"

"Attn Tampa: 90 Minutes from Stress to Relaxation!
Just a short 90 minute drive from Tampa to Palm Island is just what the doctor ordered! Driving onto the car ferry really makes you feel like you are leaving all stress behind. Once there, island time is in effect and stress disappears as you enjoy a cocktail and let the days plan themselves."

"Quiet and beautiful
We had stayed on the island a few years ago for a week and had a blast with our daughters family. So we had 2 of our grands for a weekend and took the opportunity to come again. We had some awesome shelling and snorkeling.
Our time together was wonderful all around. We found the staff most friendly and accommodating.. The view from our unit was perfect, however, we will choose a different one on our next visit as it was well worn and musty if you didn't keep the air cranked low. But our memories are priceless. We love Palm Island!"

We had a wonderful time at Palm Island Resort as always. Our villa was perfect in so many ways. For the children, we took advantage of all the Red Beard experiences and weren't disappointed! "Wonderful - Our 7th visit but a little dissapointed!
As always Palm Island Resort has been a family favorite. We have taken our two daughters there off & on since they were 6 & 7. They are now 21 & 23. My husband and I love the relaxation, the beauty the island feel and lifestyle It is all good. We've seen the resort evolve you could say since 1997. My disappointed this visit was the following; The unit above was apparently was being remodeled, Monday at 8 am what sounded like a demolition crew began pounding and pounding all day every day Monday thru Friday. It was unbearable and impossible to sleep in on our vacation past 8 am. The unit was nice but the beds are old and extremely rough sleep. My back is currently out. I am sad to report this because I have never been disappointed in the past. Everyone that works at Palm Island Resort are very friendly and hospitable with the exception of the Coconut Rentals/coffee shop staff. Very rude and I avoided going there as much as possible. "

"Relaxing and Fun Getaway!
Each year our vacation to Palm Island gets better! Our six year old son has the most fun exploring the island and collecting sharks teeth at Stumps Pass! We will be back again and hopefully before next year. "
Jul 08, 2014 - Alanna H., Saint Petersburg, FL

I had a wonderful time on Palm Island visiting with friends and family. The Superior two bedroom that we stayed in was nice but needed a few upgrades in my opinion to be considered a high level room. The refridgerator was old and the ice machine did not work well. Also, the beds were just okay. The staff was friendly but misspelled my name and never fixed it. Also, they sent my receipt and this review to the wrong email address. My mother had to forward it to me. "

"Beach Vacation
1. My wife and I spent 5 nights at Palm Island in Feb2014. A really great vacation. We will be back.

2. Unit was very clean, well appointed, and comfortable. We had a lower unit. Views from inside the unit were great, especially from the MBR. Huge sliding glass doors onto screened patio from both living area and MBR.
3. Kitchen well equipped. I cooked a lot during our stay. Ice maker worked great. 4. Very short walk to beach...maybe 200ft thru low dunes. Very nice pool close too, hot tub was very HOT which is nice since sooo many resorts keep their hot tubs too cool. Next to pool area was the common grilling area (no grills at units). 5 Gas Grills were clean, in excellent condition and worked great. I used them daily.
5. Our unit did not have a deck. Screened patio yes. We would have opted for a unit with a deck. A small disappointment. If a deck is important choose carefully.
6. The Fitness Center is OK at best. Equipped with some older aerobic machines, a set of dumbbells to 40 pounds, one bench, and an older multi-station weight machine. The space is ok size wise but dark, no big windows. On vacation I like to work out extra hard since I have lots of time, and this fitness center will be a disappointment for anyone who wants a great workout facility available while on vacation. Just barely good enough. When you check-in make sure you ask for a gym key.
7. Not all units have internet connection or WiFi. Ours did not. I needed it for professional reasons, inside our unit Verizon signal was spotty and slow for internet use. This was a pain. Recommend you get a Wifi unit if you need the web frequently. There is a hot-spot at the cafe, but if you need frequent use you will want a unit with WiFi.
We thought the ferry would be a pain, but it is very efficient. About a 3 min ferry ride (really.. that close) and they run continuously. It was a pleasant ride and not a detractor at all. They run until 1100pm. Guests get free passes for 2 vehicl"

"Relax and Recover
WE were looking for someplace on the beach to relax and recover for myself and my husband since a recent emergent surgery for hi. Our Palm Islanad experience was exactly what we both needed and the perfect time. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to enjoy."

"Our Treasured Get-away for 23 years!
Palm Island is a place to travel for relaxation, outdoor fun and to enjoy family and friends. So many wonderful things to do from walking the gorgeous beach to renting kayaks and exploring the inlets. Our daughter has grown up going to the island and even with all the changes it is her favorite spot to visit. Manatees, dolphins, herons, turtles, and tons of beautiful shells. The staff is very helpful and having Rum Bay Restaurant right there is a plus. Each Villa is a little different but very efficient for cooking or just reading and relaxing. Great that you can also do laundry if staying for a while. Always on our vacation list!"

"Fantastic Family Weekend Getaway!
We had a wonderful time on Palm Island. Our villa was beautiful, the golf cart was fun, water taxi to Leverock's was a must...had dolphins jumping in the boat's wake! Everyone was really helpful and friendly. We plan to go back and enjoy it again sometime."

"Awesome Weekend!
Palm Island was great! We celebrated our parents 50th anniversary there. We enjoyed the beach, the fishing and the beauty of Palm Island. Everything was easy! Each family had there own condos and everyone was comfortable. Our condos had everything we needed and plenty of room for all of us to have meals together. The views from everyone's condos were AMAZING!!! Thank you for great service. Please enjoy beautiful Palm Island, it is a real gem! "

"Beautiful Getaway!
My husband, mother, and I stayed at Palm Island last month and it was absolutely beautiful. The beaches weren't crowded and it was very quiet, relaxing, and secluded. My only complaint is that having to take the car ferry to the island is kind of a pain. You always have to be worried about getting back in time to get back on the Island or you might be locked out! The worst part was that we were supposed to stay 5 nights, but when we went to checkout the night before our flight left, we were told we had to arrange with the ferry service to pick us up in time to catch our flight. This was going to cost $150! We ended up having to pack up quickly the night before and get a hotel room that was half the price of the ferry the next morning. It was sad to have to leave early and pay for a hotel room when we paid for 5 nights at Palm Island. Overall, though, a very relaxing, beautiful stay that I would be thrilled to take my family to again. "

We had a wonderful time in villa 2911. The location was perfect and the home was beautiful. We came for the fishing and were not disappointed. "Heaven on Earth!!!!
Palm Island is, by far, Florida's best kept secret!!! All we could keep saying was "This is unreal!" Its certainly a magical place, making you feel a million miles away all while staying in Fl. Even though we have a beach condo in Madeira Beach,we still enjoy coming to the resort. We have been coming to Palm Island for over 10 years. It is always a wonderful! The resort is beautiful. The landscaping is always green. The units are set up nicely with all of the items that you'd need for food preparation. We are already booked for next year! "

"Quiet, beautiful setting get-away
We loved the quiet surroundings, beautiful sunsets, and exceptional beach! Highly recommend this resort."
May 13, 2012 - Carla F., Eagan, MN

"Hidden costs. Very isolated
Staff did not inform us how the resort was run. You only get one pass per day to leave the island, which is by barge, if you need to leave more frequently it is $55! There is only one restaurant on the island and the service was terrible. You really need to rent a golf cart while your there because there are no vehicles allowed. This is another $50 per day! The beach was beautiful and secluded. The beach villa was also quite nice. The staff was very uninformative, you have to discover things as you go. If you go be prepared to be isolated from civilization and groceries/shopping. "

"Nice location. Poor amenities.
Came for just one night after having a credit from a previous stay. The kitchen was missing basic items, shower didn't work at all in one bathroom and barely had any water pressure in the other, no hair dryers in either. Not up to par for a vacation rental"

"Fantastic Property - Unbelievable Sunsets!
We very much enjoyed our stay. The unit had an awesome view, the staff was outstanding, the beaches were perfect. You could pick up shell by the millions or watch the dolphins. The on island restaurant was lovely - and had a nice menu. The wine and cheese
basket was a nice touch. The unit's kitchen was nicely equipped and the linens and towels were nice quality. My only advice is to let the guests know about the ferry charges ($55) and whether or not they are included in the stay, and the mattress in our unit
was horrible - like plywood and box springs!"

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning many times. The unit was beautiful. Carpet had some bad stains but that is to be expected with rentals.
My only limitation is getting to the property. It is just a little longer than I like to drive from an airport (Ft Myers for direct flights from PHL). If I were coming for 4-5 days, it would not be a problem. "

"Gillen Family vacation - August 2008
This is our fourth visit to Palm Island Resort and we had another very enjoyable and restful vacation.

We had what proved to be a minor interruption of TS Fay in the middle of our stay, but we were moved to a Harbourtown unit in good time, which we were pleased about given that we were stranded on the island for 2 days without power in our 2005 visit. We were well-informed before the event. Our only complaint was that we were put up in a one-bedroomed suite, which proved quite cramped for the 2 nights that we ended up being housed there and had no contact afterwards to confirm it was ok to return - we eventually took it upon ourselves to return.

We requested and received the same unit as in our last visit, which was pleasing and it was in similarly good condition as we had seen in 2006.

We have several enjoyable meals in the Rum Bay restaurant and were well-served and also had similarly good experience in Johnny Leverocks on the night of the storm.

We used the kayaks on a couple of occasions and have an enjoyable couple of hours watching dolphins. We also hired tennis rackets and had fun playing tennis, though the surface of the tennis court opposite our unit was badly cracked and in need of attention.

Overall we had another throughly enjoyable stay on Palm Island and would continue to recommend it strongly to friends and colleagues looking for a true get away from it all vacation."

"Reassuringly Rejuvenated
Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It forces you to relax and enjoy just spending quality time with eachother. The property is well kept, the staff is pleassant and the beach is beautiful!"
