About Manzanita
Manzanita is located on the Pacific coast of Oregon between two small neighboring villages, Nehalem and Wheeler, with Nehalem Bay just to the south and the Nehalem River running to the west.
What to Do
The tranquility and scenery of Manzanita is hard to be beat, and for that reason it remains one of the most photographed places in all of Oregon. Manzanita is a sanctuary for nature lovers, with its array of mountains, forests, rivers, cliffs and of course the vast Pacific. Visitors enjoy an abundance of hiking trails, fishing, surfing, kayaking, and all-around beautiful scenery. You can hike up to the top of Neahkahnie Mountain, where about there is rumored to be buried Spanish treasure from the 16th century, fish for salmon, sturgeon or trout in Nehalem Bay, and even clams and crabs. The river also offers opportunities for Salmon fishing. You can kayak through the numerous peaceful waterways in the bay area, which eventually spill back out into the ocean, and enjoy a picnic or catch a wave in the popular Oswald West's State Park.
Where to Eat

The quaint coastal village also features several lovely eateries and quality restaurants. The family run Big Wave Cafe is definitely a favorite, and for good reason. The friendly atmosphere is open for three meals a day and won't disappoint. For a nice night on the coast with a sunset backdrop try the popular Blackbird Restaurant. The Neahkahnie Bistro also offers a charming atmosphere and excellent comfort food.
