"Spacious, Clean, Comfortable Rental With A/C
This unit was amazing! Not every rental we have stayed in on Kauai has A/C, so this was a treat! Fully stocked kitchen, beautiful lanai, and close to everything. We walked to Anini Beach in under fifteen minutes. We were close to the Princeville Shopping Center and a gold course that you can walk to. The shared pool was nice and we had access to grill out for a few of our dinners. Wonderful! "

"Great trip
We loved this rental for our week on Kauai. It was spacious and comfortable. Easy access to beaches and restaurants and we had a blast. The only issues were the noise from the condo above, which lots of other guests have mentioned. Definitely can hear any steps the people above you are taking. The other issue was the internet/Wifi. We didn’t really use it much because it wasn’t a priority, but the connection was so slow, we couldn’t stream or watch any shows or movies. The management team was great and communicated with us and reached out to the internet company, but it still didn’t work well. It didn’t really affect us that much, but for anyone who was hoping to watch movies or work from this condo, you could run into issues with connections. "

"May want to think twice before booking!
As much as I love coming to Hawaii, there are some things you have to live with while enjoying this island. One are the roosters (especially on Kauai), two are the possibilities of seeing big bugs, and three, renting a lower level place where you will hear the neighbors. This place had all 3. I can deal with the roosters, seeing a roach was not ideal, but most importantly, the fact you hear every footstep from above was just almost too much to bear. If you are very hard of hearing, you may be the only individual that will be able to handle the sounds. Thankfully we were there only 3 nights but that was too long considering barely any sleep was had. The location was fantastic and the unit was very spacious for us four. But I want to help others by being as honest as possible, this is NOT a good place to stay if you want to relax or just sleep."

"Great North Side Condo
The condo was really nice, including both interior features and decor and the beautiful landscaping surrounding the unit on all sides, providing plenty of privacy and fresh air. The unit is very close to the (steep) trail down to Wyllie Beach, but there is no ocean view. Property management was very responsive and easy to contact. It's very close to food and hardware stores. I definitely would recommend it to others. I wish a list of restaurant suggestions/recommendations had been provided."

"Nice Princeville location
We were a party of 4 adults (2 couples) and the condo suited all of our needs perfectly. spacious and the kitchen was full of lots of items to use for everyday cooking. However, the microwave did not work. We discovered this on our 2nd day and reported it to the management company. Was not fixed or replaced in the 8 days we were there. You don't realize how much you use a microwave until you don't have one, and we could not enjoy our nightly treat of popcorn while watching a movie. Overall, the condo was clean and appears to be well maintained. Parking is at a premium at this location, so if you are returning late in the evening, it could be difficult to get a spot. And the parking spots are very narrow as are all the parking spots no matter where you go, so if you are driving a large vehicle, it's a tight fit. Should we ever return to Kauai, I would stay here again. Ken, who was grounds maintenance gave us a lot of good suggestions to check out for food and beaches."

"Kauai vacation
The condo was great had everything we needed. Flight delayed arrived after dark and had lots of trouble finding the place virtually no outdoor lightinting and the whole blocks address is 3920 very confusing."

"Air Conditioned Paradise

"Good place for a Kauai visit but noisy
Overall, the condo is great and clean. Nothing was missing. The condo is close to shops and also to dining options, especially in Hanalei. The pool area was very nice and clean.
The biggest downside was the noise level. Once, there were so many chicken on the property, that they will wake you up at dawn unless you sleep like a rock (and they even jump into the condo if you forget to close the mosquito doors or your kids don't close them). But this is the first floor condo and the ceiling/floor is so thin, you can hear every step they do upstairs. Also one of the bedrooms is directly connected to the living room of the other first floor condo and the TV is mounted on that wall. You could hear that as if it was in this very condo. We had our kid (trying to) sleep there, what was impossible. So be prepared for that. We read the same thing before in reviews but couldn't believe it would be that bad. It is unfortunately. "

"Nice comfortable condo in Princeville
My niece and I stayed at Mauna Kai 5A for a week and it was great. Comfortable, spacious, quiet at night. The kitchen was fully functional, there was a laundry and the grounds were lovely. We were able to walk to Princeville Center for restaurants and shopping. It was about a 10 minute walk. It is also fairly close to Hanalei, where there is good shopping and restaurants too.
We arrived at night and finding a parking space and the unit in the dark was a bit challenging. There are signs pointing to the condo units but at night the lighting of the signs was dim. We managed though and once we found the unit, we were delighted with everything we found.
The property management company was pleasant and called the next day to check in.
Staying in Princeville was our choice and I would highly recommend it for those who want a beautiful setting in a lush area. But you need a car to get to the sights south and west. We rented a car and we drove to Waimea Canyon (must see) one day. We visited Allerton Botanical Gardens and Spouting Horn another day and had dinner plans in Kapa’a.
We also took a Napali Coast and snorkeling cruise on the Napali Sea Breeze which is out of Anini Beach, quite close to Princeville. Everyone has to see the Napali coast for themselves, whether from sea or air. It is the gem of the island.

Overall a nice unit and wonderful location. The unit was updated as described, great lay out, lots of room. The master shower could use some work. The things that could not necessarily be helped was the lack of privacy in the living room (lots of windows and a pathway right outside). The other would be the downstairs unit was extremely loud with foot traffic above. You can here every move the upstairs makes. We attempted to speak with the family above us regarding their 3 yr. old running around every morning at 5 am. However they were rude and uncooperative. The next family (7 of them) were much quieter. However that was our last day there. Not something the owner or property can help, however be aware. This would not be a deal breaker for us, but I would consider an upstairs unit next time. Or hope for better neighbors. I would note that the property management also slow to respond to issues. They took a 1.5 days to get back to me about the bbq being out of gas. Overall a great vacation. "

"Great Oasis in Princeville
The unit itself is wonderful. Updated and comfortably furnished with lots of space to spread out. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need to cook. The location is great, a short 15 min walk to the grocery store, shopping area, and restaurants. The pool! The only downside is that it's a lower unit and there is no soundproofing between it and the upper unit. Even if the guests upstairs are quiet, it's constant thumping and bumping when they are there. Woke us up on two occasions when guests had a late check-in. Something to consider if you're sensitive to noise. Otherwise, this unit is everything you could want!"

"First trip to the islands
Upon entering the condo, we immediately saw how clean and beautiful it was. The beds were soft and comfortable. The master bedroom was extremely nice with the bathroom's large tub to relax in. All the windows and fans were very helpful for us to stay cool. We will definitely return. "

Wonderful and comfortable accommodations! Easy check in and out. Evan reached out to us often (but not too much), to make sure everything was in order and if there was anything we needed. Clean, beautiful surroundings. Laundry facilities would have been awesome, but to be fair, I didn’t ask of there were any nearby. Great stay, and would definite return. Can’t wait."

"First time visiting Kauai
Had no issues with the rental. Everything was clean and the condo was pretty well stocked with everything you would need. The only thing that I didn’t like is no A/C. Got a little warm and muggy at times but there were plenty of fans in the condo that made it tolerable. We would pretty much surround our bed with all the fans provided to keep us cool at night and it worked well! I’d stay at this rental property again if I had another Kauai vacation and was staying on the north shore."

"Vacation in Paradise
A beautiful property in a lovely location. We spent 10 days at Mauna Kai 5A; had some rainy days and some sunny days, enjoyed Anini Beach as well as Queen's Bath. We kayaked, hiked and had great fish tacos everywhere. Highly recommend!"

"Vacation Summary
Overall the stay was pleasant and the unit was very clean and roomy. A very well equipped kitchen. The exterior property description was not very accurate and misleading. Parking was ample but dark and unsecured as were the walkways leading to individual unit. One of the reason we chose this unit was due to the description of a mountain view. There was no view from the actual unit or the patio outside. The unit did not have air conditioning but had ample ceiling fans with a nice cross breeze. The unit was in close proximity to grocery store and shopping. Great area for morning walks once outside the property grounds. The property grounds are not well maintained. "

"Great Condo
Our family of 4 stayed here for 5 nights in December and had a great time. The Condo was very spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 separate bathrooms, the kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything you would need to cook with. The complex was clean and also had a pool and bbq area. We walked to Anini beach several times. It was a short trail (but very steep) to the beach. Within driving distance to shops and restaurants at Hanalei as well as beaches on the North Coast. Plenty of fans in the suite helped keep things cool. The check in process was excellent and the management company was very good at checking in to make sure everything was satisfactory. We would stay here again."

"Fantastic Hideway
We had the most amazing time at this property. It’s location was fantastic and the home was outstanding. All the amenities of home. Very comfortable. My only hesitation on staying there again would be that there is no air Conditioning and I run hot body temperature wise ~ I was very uncomfortable even with the fans ~ however for me it would be fine in the Cooler months all in all a fantaatix trip. Pool was beautiful and nearby shopping, restaurants and Hanalei were fantastic "

"Great condo
We’ve stayed in five or six other condos in this complex. 5A is one of the nicest, particularly among the lower units. Light, bright, spacious we had all the room we needed and more for the three of us. The place was clean, and comfortable. Beds firm with decent linens. Bath was stocked with lots of towels! We appreciated the beach chairs and boogies boards that were left for us. Kitchen is sleek & efficient, if small (they all are in this complex). We had to hit the local thrift store to buy vegetable peeler, wine glasses and serving plates, but most visitors probably don’t cook in as much as we do. Walking distance along a well maintained path to grocery store , restaurants and shops. Walking distance to beach as advertised is a bit of a stretch as path is steep, often muddy and not well maintained. Pool is the complex is lovely, warm and rarely crowded."

"Beautifully Airy
We had such an amazing time at Mauna Kai 5A. The property is pristine and comfortable. The only thing we needed, besides ingredients, for cooking, was aluminum foil. Honestly, this condo felt like home. One weird thing, when there were 70+ MPH winds, there was a tin banging sound that came from between the living room and master bedroom walls. We never could figure out what was making the noise. Storm lasted one day, so it was not a big deal. Also, we were a bit disappointed to find that the pool is not heated. Temps were around 70 F, so a heated pool would have been nice. "

Condo was well maintained. Beds were comfortable.
TVs all worked well. Would definitely stay again.
As a lawyer, I suggest the owner change the row of tile on the step down from dinning room to living room, to a different color, so one can see a contrast on the step down.
Also, a hand rail in the master bathtub should be installed.
A person may not want to take these measures in their own residence, but when renting out a property, one should think about liability issues.
That's my suggestion, for which there is no charge!"

"Mauna Kai 5taststic
My wife and I, my brother and his wife totally enjoyed our stay at the resort. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms it fit our needs FANTASTICALLY. The kitchen was fully equipped and the BBQ at the pool was a bonus. The the one recommendation I would make is that the pool deck could use a a coat of paint - I think that would really spruce up the area. Great vacation!"

"GREAT Location, UPDATED & SPACIOUS Condo!
We really had a lovely experience at condo 5A! The condo is very large! Just my fiancé and I stayed and we could’ve brought a handful more people and been comfortable. The condo is newly renovated, modern, and “homey” with all the cooking utensils you can think of! Great furniture and decorating touches, and comfortable beds! There is a beautiful 1 minute cruise to the Westin Starbucks and restaurants if you want coffee or a cocktail/ order dinner. It is on the walk/bike path that connects to the other resorts nearby, golf course, and Queens Bath! The drive to Hanalei is a short 10 minutes. The town has everything you would need. Dining, shopping, surf and boogie board rentals, places to book boat and helicopter tours, and of course the beautiful, Hanalei Bay Beach. There is also a beach walking distance from condo. We got to the south shore in about 50 minutes when there wasn’t traffic. Anywhere you stay on the Island, I advise you to rent a car because it is so spread out and there’s so much to see! We couldn’t have chose a better place. We would’ve spent the same at a resort and had a hotel room the size of 1 room at the condo! We got engaged on this trip so it will be a very memorable stay and we will be back! Thanks again!!"
