Very nice stay. Room had plenty of amenities. Only a couple of things that concerned me. No small AC unit for the bedroom, so it had a hard time cooling down as opposed to the living room area. Also, there were no facial tissue boxes at all in the unit, so we had to use either toilet paper or paper towel all week."

The property was nice, beautiful views and the staff was helpful. The unit we rented needed updating - worn furniture, mold in the A/C unit and chips/scuff marks on the walls. It also had many supplies, but not enough towels, no bath mats/tissues and a few other items that would have made it more comfortable. Also the A/C was not large enough for the unit and the bedroom was routinely over 80 degrees. The location was pretty central to the NW side of the island and there were several restaurants and a grocery store very near by."

The check in process was like clockwork. We were even lucky enough to get in a little early. We saw a lot of whale activity from our lanai. We love the area.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 the pool closest to us was closed as was the propane grills, which left a bit longer walk to get to the grills and the poolside. And the hot water was hit and miss. Having a washer/dryer in the unit is a major plus. We really enjoyed the welcome gift."

Lovely condo, so close to the ocean we had to shut the doors to hear the TV (the few times we watched). We had everything we needed in the unit, it was clean upon arrival and very quiet. The grounds of the resort are immaculate and the pools and hot tubs large and heated. We usually stay in Kihei, but would come back here in a heartbeat. The only thing missing was a sandy beach, but you can walk down a block North or South and find public beaches."

We had a great stay. Loved sitting on the lanai and watching the ocean over a coffee. Everything was in order when we checked in and the unit was very clean, also very well equipped. Would recommend this unit to a friend or relative and we would definitely stay there again. The only (very minor) complaint was the furniture was a bit dated but very comfortable and we had a great time. Couldn't get a parking spot close to the unit but it was not very far to walk."

We really liked the location of our unit in the property.
Ocean front was great. We watched the whales. We liked the other window to view the palm trees.
We have stayed at Papakea many times and have brought our families too.
There are many things that need attention and upgrading.
The grout around the kitchen sink is coming out in chunks leaving holes.
The furniture is old and needs replaced ( the chair sinks down when you sit in it)
The wood work in knicked up and needs to be painted.
The shower needs a nonslip surface in the bottom or a mat.
The curtains in bedroom need to be replaced. They are frayed.
The drapes in the living room are dirty.
There is no cutting board in the kitchen.
The coffee was a plus.
The unit was well supplied.
New linen and towels would be a plus.
We would definitely stay here again but many things need attention."

Unit A309 has a great view but I wouldn't stay there again until it has been upgraded. The condo could use a good deep cleaning. Don't forget the cobwebs behind the curtains, pick up the mouse trap behind the TV too. The trim on the stove was peeling and the burner drip pans were not level and covered with aluminum foil. Couch and carpet in the front room needs cleaning. When upgrading the bathroom you should consider replacing the 4 ft tub with a walk in shower. The ocean front location was excellent! The unit is on the 3rd floor and you get a really good view from the lanai and the front room. Most afternoons we could see turtles swimming about 25 feet from shore. Very cool! "

"Great View...Mouse Visit not so great
Location with view was BEAUTIFUL! Visit from mouse very discerning. Manager sent Contractor three days later to fix hole under kitchen sink at drain pipe, which I discovered.I also found pipes in water heater closet not sealed properly. Shelving chewed on by critter in same closet. I was not able to cook, so at the higher expense of eating out, we had to eat out. Kitchen was not clean and very outdated. Lost three nights of sleep due to mouse problem. Never offered any compensation for our extra food expense or our inconveniences trying to remedy this problem. Will not recommend this unit to friends. Have stayed at Papakea before in a beautiful clean mouse free unit, will go back there. Manager told me , mice have never been on third floor, and in same sentence told me I must have left the door open, which I did not. And yes, mice can travel through walls and get through small places. A lot of hard earned money spent to stay here and to have to deal with this is unacceptable. "

"Spectacular View
This was a fantastic condo to stay in, while we were are on Maui. The super clean condo A309 was on the third floor with an ocean front view of the majestic islands of Molokai and Lanai on full display and gorgeous sunsets each evening. This is a perfect spot to watch the whales and sea turtles, too. The ocean waves lulled us to sleep each night and the Papakea grounds are immaculate! Many restaurants and Times supermarket are within easy walking distance. Would gladly stay here in the future."
