"Maui Sunset B304 - Deeply disappointed!
While the location is excellent, serious cleanliness and maintenance issues significantly impacted the quality of my visit.
⦁The dishes, utensils, and cookware had clearly not been washed properly. The stove was extremely dirty and appeared neglected for quite some time. I had to run the dishwasher for all dishes, cookware, and cups; which is unacceptable for a vacation rental!
⦁The coffee maker was filthy, and the filters provided were stained. It was evident that this equipment had not been cleaned or replaced after the previous guest.
⦁There was hair throughout the unit upon arrival, including on the floors, in the tub, and on the bathroom walls. This suggested that housekeeping skipped essential cleaning steps and failed to properly sweep, vacuum, or sanitize the space.
⦁The carpet and couch in the living area were stained, worn, and appeared to have not been deep cleaned in a long time, giving the condo an overall unkept and neglected appearance.
⦁The air conditioning units were extremely loud. One unit was not working upon arrival, and the bedroom unit operated on a 4 hour timer, which disrupted sleep. Additionally, the sliding door beside the bed opens directly to an exterior walkway where children frequently ran at night. This could pose a safety concern, if it were a solo female guest.
When I contacted property management to address these issues, the representative repeatedly spoke over me and focused more on what the front desk staff downstairs had told me; despite them not being affiliated! I felt completely dismissed. He then placed me on hold and ultimately disconnected the call, which was unacceptable! Although he later left a voicemail offering to send housekeeping, I had already begun cleaning myself, and given the condition of the unit, I did not feel confident in their service. We loved the location. The swimming pool was large so you could swim worthwhile laps. We were disappointed that the condo itself was not cleaned before we arrived. The condo had all appliances that we wanted. N Maui Sunset grounds were impeccably clean!!"

The Maui Sunset is an amazing vacation rental. The location is perfect. Perfect for sunset viewing. The pool area was great for the kids. There are other activities like mini golf, tennis/pickleball, and shuffleboard. We stayed in the 1 bedroom with five people and it was nice having the two bathrooms and the laundry available to use. We would absolutely stay there again. "

"My Maui Experience
The condo was very clean and good space. I felt very relaxed for the time period I was there. The beach was a minute walk away from where I was staying and very nice beach to walk on or you can sit above it as well. Very peaceful setting. "

We had an opportunity to book at short notice and having experienced some dubious spots in the past, we were cautiously optimistic. It more than met our expectations. Lovely beach area, lots of relaxed areas to reflect and thank God for His goodness. Good spot to use as a base for exploring the island. Close to good shops, and beware, prices are elevated. Apartment loaded with just about everything you could want from beach chairs to cooking and cutlery. Super place to bbq. We loved it!"

"Great Location, Not so great accomodations
While the overall property and layout were fine, the room left too much to the imagination. B304 had very smelly carpets, most likely just shampooed. The ice make ran non-stop with a knocking noise...seemed like someone was at the door; and did not make ice! The blender had only one speed and leaked a black liquid all over when ran. The dishwasher, washer and dryer were older and need to be run multiple times to get the job done. Silverware was bent. There were no steakknives for our BBQ and there were no storage containers with lids to keep anything in the fridge. And finally, the property or owner does not allow for more than one set of toilettries. Awful for two guys swimming, surfing, and participating in physical activities. And no laundry detergent provided so what's the point. Seriously not going to purchase full sized containers!"

"Had Everything We Needed
Maui Sunset was a complete package. We had paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, towels, potholders, complete kitchen dishes, utensils, pots and pans, you name it. It is an older condo and could use updating, but it was very comfortable."

"First trip to Maui
WE arrived on a Sunday early afternoon. Check in is at 4. NO one was in the office until 4. I understand checking in at 4 but having no one in the office was not expected.
Our room was very nice, decorated nice, full kitchen amenities. Bathrooms could use an update but they were clean.
Grounds were beautifully landscaped, nice pool area. On the whole, our time spent there was good. Would consider renting from Maui Sunset again."

"Kihei is where you want to stay!
Amazing! turtles chillin on the beach and walking distance to other world class beaches. The rental had all the chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards etc. just load up the jeep (get a jeep not a car)and roll out. Unit also had an awesome gas bbq setup (6 of them), just get your meat/seafood and gas ($.80 cheaper per gal) from costco. Main bed was small for 2 but unit accomodated 4 of us nicely. Unit also had all cookware, blender toaster ...everything needed to feel at home. Would stay here again in heartbeat."

"Bad condo 39
Our condo had a few things wrong with. The dryer was broken. The telephones didn't work. There were no beach chairs where our friends in other places in the complex had them. The television in the bedroom didn't work. I was told that the owners of the unit are responsible. Perhaps the management could insist on the units meet certain standards. The property was very nice and clean. Too bad our unit wasn't in the same condition. It is highly unlikely that I would ever recommend this property to anyone. "

"Great location, nice property!
We had a one bedroom partial ocean view for a week, unit B304. We had our two adult daughters with us - one slept on the pull out couch, the other on the murphy bed. The beds were comfortable and the murphy bed was an excellent use of space. The square footage was also quite comfortable for us, although the storage space to put four suitcases is tight. The kitchen was well supplied and the lanai was a good size as well. This condo is carpeted, and although it is in good shape, we were surprised it was not tiled. The only significant drawback to B304 is the bathrooms. Both need to be refurbished. The shower in the small bathroom and the tub in the master bathroom need to be replaced, as they no longer can be cleaned. They look really dirty which kinda grossed us out. I have pictures that I am happy to pass on if anyone is interested.
On the other hand, the buildings, pool area and the grounds are immaculate with plenty of activities to keep you entertained. The beach is lovely and you can walk for miles in each direction. The surf is gentle if you have little ones, but there is coral in this particular stretch, so everyone needs water shoes. Giant turtles swim by all the time! I would recommend this property, but just ask for a unit with updated bathrooms."

"Stay at Maui Sunset Resort
We had a large group of people staying at the resort in different rooms. Some rooms were updated and had better amenities than others but overall the resort and rooms were clean and well maintained. The resort is in a great location and the pool and hot tub area was a big hit with everyone. Especially the families with younger children. The beach directly accessed at the resort isn't the greatest but there are so many other beaches within walking distance or a short drive that it doesn't really matter. Overall we were happy with Maui Sunset and would recommend to a friend. We will likely come back ourselves sometime. "

"Okay Stay
Maui was our least favorite island out of the Big Island and Oahu and some of that was probably this rental. The property is more like a well worn beach house and it was great to be on the water, but there was also a lot lacking! We had a split trip (because we stayed a night in Hana) and I had spoken with someone from the resort company in order to book the rental, because I was unable to book less than 4 consecutive nights online. Well, when we arrived, no one knew about our split trip. I had confirmed by phone before the trip that we could by-pass the extra cleaning fee if we arrived from Hana at a certain time. No one knew anything about this and the front desk didn't care. I ended up calling 3 different people and had to jump through hoops just to make sure we had our last night here. It was very frustrating and stressful when we should have been enjoying ourselves in Maui. In the end it all worked out, but it was no an ideal situation. Our unit had two AC units, but they both turned off every 4 hours. I understand not wanting folks to run the AC when you're not there, but with 80-90 degree days, we were hot and for the AC to go out at night and have to get up and turn it back on, that was HORRIBLE! We went to the welcome "breakfast" on the first day and I have to say, it's VERY POOR advertisement. It was not breakfast. It was water and a few pieces of pastries. Granted, I'm pregnant and hungry, but I wouldn't consider that breakfast at any time. We renewed our vows for our 5 year anniversary and were trying to iron my dress and my husband's outfit and our iron didn't work. We called the maintenance/housekeeping line and waited over an hour for someone to bring an iron up. When they never came, we called again and finally got it. This place seems like it's for regulars/locals/old folks that have flocked to Maui and never left. It was cheaper than a hotel, but I'm not sure it didn't put Maui at the bottom of our list."

"Holiday at Maui Sunset
First impression was unfriendly office staffmember. Had booked a ground level room as I had a paddle board. On checking in we found we had a 3rd floor apartment. Reception advised it wasn't their problem. Also Security Staff could be a bit more diplomatic. However, after brushing that aside the Maui Sunset was a great place to stay, a short walk to the beach and a nice pool area. Grounds were immaculately kept, barbecues cleaned every day. The ground staff especially are hardworking and very friendly. The room was an ideal size and well appointed, maybe the airconditioning could do with a service. The Maui Sunset is within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. All in all we had a great time, and would definitely stay again. PS. I had written to the property management about the unhelpful office staff and got a reply immediately advising that in future things will be better, I was impressed with the prompt reply and action taken."

"Postcard photos to Paradise.
We were on 3rd fl. Garden view. Stayed in 314. The week we were there is was HOT & Humid. Our room being on lower floor was easy to cool. Unlike my friend who was on 5th floor in 514. The heat rises upward, combined with heat from roof made the living room area of their room unbearably muggy. Even with trying to capture the cross breezes with both front and screen door open. Ugh. Not so in our suite stayed cool. The air conditioning stays on only 4 hr and have to restart it. Electricity in Maui is extremely high, hence the timer control on a/c. My bedroom always remained cool. Our garden view was sweet. Our friends in 514 had killer water view but hot up there. I take our cool 304 garden view anyday. The grounds are magnificient, very well kept. Beach is across the lawn. Pool is excellent clean as well as hot tub. Great bonus having washer & dryer. Fully stocked kitchen late 80s decor. Bathrooms water pressure excellent. Bed and Murphy bed Comfortable. Go experience this little paradise of Sunset Maui located in Kihei. "
