Welcome to Hale Koolau, Haena! Located on the north shore of Kauai, Hale Koolau sits behind wooden gates among the tropical landscape of a private, half-acre (2023m2) lot. With spectacular views of Bali Hai (Mt. Makana) and just a short stroll to Tunnels (Makua) beach, Hale Ko'olau invites guests to immerse themselves in an authentic Hawaiian retreat.

This 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom getaway is drenched in natural light and boasts an expansive, wrap-around lanai, perfect for indoor/outdoor living. The master bedroom has a California King-size bed and en suite bathroom with a stone shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed. The large, third bedroom aka the bunk room is separate from the main living space and can sleep up to nine guests with an attached bathroom. All bedrooms are equipped with its own AC, plush linens and beddings and its own bathroom.

Spend the mornings or evenings relaxing on the lanai where views of emerald green mountains remind you of the appeal of island life. Soak away the day in the newly added hot tub.

Amenities include and outdoor shower, lots of outdoor space and lounging areas which includes the upstairs covered lanai and downstairs "hang out" spot with amply furniture, BBQ and an outdoor table.

Take a 10-minute drive along the coastline and over several one-lane bridges back to Hanalei, famous for its crescent-shaped bay and small-town charm. Add another 10 minutes to your drive and find yourself in the resort community of Princeville, where you can golf oceanfront holes at the Makai Golf Club.

The property also has an additional guest house (1-bedroom/1 bath, up to 4 guests) called “Ko'olau Treehouse,” which can be rented in combination with Hale Ko'olau to have the entire estate to you and your guests.

*Note there are two homes on the property. Both are vacation rentals. Hale Ko'olau is the main front house. The Ko'olau Tree House is the guest cottage located in the back. Both can be rented separately or the entire estate (main + guest).

This rental was stunning home! Very private and surrounded by so much natural beauty. The house was very clean, the furniture and appliances all looked brand new. "Vacation Rental in Hā’ena
This was the perfect vacation rental for our family. The bunk house was perfect for the kids to have their own space and bathroom. The home was very spacious for ten people even on a rainy day when we couldn’t go outside. You never felt like you were on top of each other. This home is loaded with everything you could need in the kitchen to cook big meals for your family. Downstairs you have everything you could need for your trips to the beach.
The beach is a short walk from the house. It is beautiful and no one around for miles however November is the start of the winter season with big waves and it made that beach extremely dangerous for swimming. We couldn’t go in the water but you aren’t far from other beautiful beaches where you can snorkel and swim.
If you are looking for a quiet spot away from the hustle and busyness this is your place.
We loved this rental and would love to stay here again. "

"Paradise
It was perfect. Tons of outdoor space. Quiet neighborhood. The A/C kept the house very comfortable for us mainlanders. The bunk room was the perfect place for all the cousins. The beech walk was easy although this time of year the waves are pretty intense. About a mile down to the north there is a great area for snorkeling though. The host brought us a new blender same day the old one broke. "

"Peaceful Retreat
My family loved this property. Immaculate. Beautiful decor. Good AC units when needed. Has everything you need for the beach (boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, wagon, beach towels). Home is short walk to quiet beach which I saw 2 turtles. .6 miles to Tunnels beach which spent an entire day there - GORGEOUS. 10 min to coffee shop and restaurant/bar. 12 min drive to Hanalei town with many cute shops and restaurants and tour activities. Hope to come back soon and stay here."

"Everything was solid if not amazing
Really decent on everything. House was clean (unlocked when we arrived though) and all worked well. No set of keys inside as they said there would be. No big deal. Nice setup. Hot tub was gross/warm (not hot) and the breaker kept tripping so couldn’t make it work. "

"Great spot, pray you don’t have an overnight emergency though...
Great house for a family or even multi-family stay. Short walk to the tunnels beach. Beach gear included is pretty good. We’ll equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. But we arrived late evening due to a flight delay and the bunk room lock box code wouldn’t work. We found out the next day that we’d been given the wrong code. But there was no answer on any of the emergency numbers provided, including the ones provided on the answering machine messages, said to be specifically for after hours emergencies. After 30 minutes trying endless variations of the lockbox code to account for possible typos with no luck and no response on the emergency numbers it looked like half our party would be sleeping on the veranda couches, with rain absolutely pouring the whole night. Luckily my brother managed side a window open for the smallest in our party to squeeze through and we got in. Certainly not the experience we’d hoped for on arrival after a long and endlessly delayed day of travel."

"Hale Ko’olau - a slice of paradise!
I had the pleasure of staying at this home with my wife, two small kids and parents. The house was *very* clean and comfortable. The house has a great layout. The bathrooms are all remodeled and modern. The wrap around deck gives you tons of options to sit outside and the views off the front porch are amazing. We ate outside on the large, covered table every night. The yard is big enough for the kids to run around and is nicely maintained. The only thing to keep in mind is the bunk bed room is separate from the main house so a little tricky with small kids.
The location is one of the best on the north shore. The closest beach is a 5 minute walk and beautiful, although not ideal for swimming. If you head to tunnels and the parking is full you can walk pretty easily. It’s a quick drive to all the best beaches on the north shore.
We would absolutely go back to this house and recommend it to anyone!"

"Excellent Haena experience
The Haena Hale was amazing. We had a large group of ten people and the house took care of everyones needs perfectly. The estate is large and feels very comfortable and safe. The surrounding decks make it fun to walk around. The bathrooms were beautiful. The kids bunk room was really fun and the beds are more than large enough for 6 foot adults. The location of the home makes access to all my favorite places on Kauai easily accessible.

"Great Space
Our group of 8 adults found Haena Hale very comfortable and relaxing! Plenty of space to either be together or get away from eachother. Great kitchen for cooking family meals and comfy beds all around! The house is very remote- which was a gamble in the winter, but I knew that going in. No one can control the weather- so come prepared. We endured a heavy rain storm that knocked power out for 2 hours (lanterns and flashlights were easily accessible in the house), flooded the road between Princeville and Hanalei- leaving us stuck temporarily (waters receded within 24 hours), and closed the Kalalau Trail (bummer, but we had the beach to ourselves). All restaurant and shops in Hanalei (save 2 or 3) were closed, so we were happy to have brought extra groceries with us. Once the rains subsided, we were rewarded with waterfalls galore! All part of the adventure towards the end of the road! "
