Welcome to Tir Na N'og, “Land of the forever young”, a luxurious beachfront estate on 10 secluded acres of gardens and walkways. Tir Na Nog includes a stunning, mile-long deserted pink-sand beach, manicured grounds surrounded by coconut palms, flowers, fruit trees, a private tennis court, and a large, spectacular new infinity-edge pool. (Pool can be heated at renter's option for a fee of $400/week.)

Tir Na No’g was built in 2007 by local carpenters and craftsmen under the vision of famed interior decorator David Flint Wood. Decorated in the elegant style of an old Caribbean plantation house, the four separate housing structures allow for bedroom privacy, along with group dining and socializing in the Great Hall and surrounding patios. The estate is rented to only one group at a time, and all structures are included in the weekly rate.

Tir Na Nog is situated in the most sought-after location on Eleuthera, the Atlantic seashore on the Banks Road, where a select number of estates overlook a beautiful pink-sand beach, only minutes from nearby restaurants. The buildings on the estate include:

1. THE GREAT HALL: This elegant colonial-style building, surrounded by a large, wrap-around porch with sweeping views of the estate, is the gathering place for fine dining, relaxation and entertaining. The Great Hall features a full kitchen and large dining area with seating for 12. The spacious living/entertainment area, elegantly furnished in old plantation style, includes a large flat-screen TV with thousands of channels, DVD movie library, books, & games. The Great Hall also has a breezy outdoor dining area with a gas grill, and a roof deck with ocean views. WE NOW HAVE SUPER-FAST STARLINK WIFI THROUGHOUT!

2. THE MAIN HOUSE: This lovely building (right across the little driveway from the Great Hall) features another large wrap-around porch with views of the tennis court and gardens. Inside are three bedrooms, each with a full en-suite bathroom and separate entrance from the porch. Two of the bedrooms have king beds. The third has twin beds with two additional trundle beds. The bedrooms in the main house do not connect internally, so you must walk out onto the wrap-around veranda to go from one bedroom to another. Keep this in mind if traveling with small children.

3. THE BEACH COTTAGES: These two romantic cottages with views of the ocean and pool have king bedrooms with full bathrooms, under-counter refrigerators, coffee makers, and outdoor seating areas with deck chairs. They are located 25 yards from the Main House and Great Hall.

4. THE TIKI HUT: This beachside, open-air shelter has shady seating under a thatched roof. The nearby Cabana has outdoor showers and a storage room housing beach chairs, snorkeling equipment, and beach toys.

5. THE TENNIS PAVILION provides shady seating on white wicker furniture beside the tennis court. The pavilion is fully equipped with tennis rackets and balls. It also contains a laundry room with washer and dryer.

MORNING MAID SERVICE (every weekday except holidays) and on-site caretaker are complimentary at Tir Na N’og. A private chef can be arranged.

A VAST REEF just 300 meters offshore ensures idyllic kayaking and snorkeling conditions for anyone staying at Tir Na N'og. We have plenty of snorkeling gear. Also two kayaks and a stand up paddle board.

We have beach recliners and water loungers for those of us who prefer to spend the day taking in the sun. We also have a baby monitor, pack and play crib, and beach toys. We have recently installed super-fast Starlink internet and satellite TV.

THE FAMOUS BEACH RESTAURANT AND BAR Tippy’s is just a ten-minute walk down the beach. Other upscale restaurants within easy driving distance include Buccaneer, La Bougainvillea,1648, and Pascal's. The town of Governors Harbour, just two miles away, has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and Friday Night Fish Fry!

Rates are for up to 8 guests. Additional guests are $525 per week.

Nearby Activities in Governors Harbour

Governor's Harbour is the main town on the island of Eleuthera, with a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is safe and friendly. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks and bikes. There is excellent sightseeing, as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, and a bottomless ocean hole.

Things To Do in Governors Harbour

For most people who make the trip to Eleuthera, the island of freedom, they come for its peace and serenity -- that feeling of being far removed from the rest of the world. One of the best things about Eleuthera is that you'll almost always have a beach to yourself. And the sand is pink! You can go swimming and snorkeling and see stingrays and other aquatic life here. The Glass Window Bridge is one of the coolest spots to visit on the island. The Ocean Hole is a spot you'll never forget.. read more

"some good, some ok
let me start with saying i LOVE i have used them many times and they are excellent. this property has the potential to be great but definetly needs some TLC like a lot of the homes on eleuthera....the weather is hard and renters are hard. A/C in the main room wasnt working, a/c in one bedroom works sometimes. two rooms had no working TV, other 3 rooms only had a DVD player with no working internet. one of the tvs had no wire connecting the dvd to the tv so was useless. most DVDs where scratched. they have starlink so the internet in main house was great if connected directly to it but repeaters to other rooms did not work. windows and doors throughout are broken, shower heads worked in some rooms but others barely worked. pool had no umbrellas like in the pictures, some toilets wouldnt flush without lifting off lid and pulling chain from inside. etc etc, just needs a lot of maintnance. and be aware this is a BIG property, even though its beachfront you mine and well pack up the car and drive down to the beach.....you cant see the beach from the house and its far enough away you cant even hear the waves, there is no ocean view except one small upper deck where you can sorta glimpse the ocean on the horizon. we still had a great time and the layout is great for four couples, the 5th room with two beds is not equal, if your spliting this place with couples id say there are 3 equal bedrooms and 1 almost equal. GREAT location. Maid christine cleaned very well every day and changed towels, she was excellent."

We had a lovely week. Wonderful home with a great location. Spacious rooms that are well appointted."

"Beautiful Private Beach
Great/convenient location and perfect setup for a large group. House is a little “tired” and needs some attention. We had 2 major problems reported on day 1 and it took 2.5 days to remedy. On-site property manager was no help and did not respond for our entire visit. Daily housekeeping by Christine was great to have and she did her best to help remedy problems. "

"Family vacation
Incredible family, 7 adults 4 children, vacation at Tir Na Nog, Eleuthera. The house, grounds and beach were all spectacular. Clean, well appointed and an ideal structural layout. I would highly recommend this property, especially for a large group. No negatives. We also employed the services of a local cooking duo, Brenda and Patrick. Their food, service and company added to our experience. "

"Great family property
We enjoyed the expansiveness of the property perfect for 2 families with kids. Great location with a tennis court and infinity edge pool. The only downside was the daily power outages and some pest control issues in the kitchen area. All and all not a deal breaker just something we hope gets addressed before we rebook. "

"Beautiful Location! Fantastic Beach Access
This property was centrally located with private beach access. The physical layout was a good one as well—a centrally located “Great Room” with several other buildings with bedrooms nearby. There is also a very nice casual restaurant just down the beach.

You should be aware that the property is located on an island without a hospital; power can be intermittent and there is no generator of this property; pool maintenance and chemicals are spotty.

As long as you understand the limitations with which you are working, this is a great property with which to enjoy all Eleuthera has to offer."

"Fantastic
We had perfect weather! The house and property was fantastic for our group of 8. The pickle ball lines added to tennis court was so fun. House was very clean and well kept. Loved addition of new TV and Sonos sound system. All appliances functioned perfectly. Pool was divine and heated perfectly to 80 degrees. Location of Tir na Nog is fantastic. Best beach on the island with very few people and a quick walk to Tippys for lunch and drinks is so fun! "

"Paradise Revisited!
Our family of 6 stayed at Tir Na Nog almost a decade ago with another family and we always talked about going back. We were so excited to visit again – this time 8 of us – and were thrilled that the property was just as we remembered it with the awesome addition of a pool! The property is a dream, so much space to be together and to get away; wonderful amenities like the tennis/pickleball court and pool and a short walk to the most beautiful beach. A car is a must to go exploring, get the grocery store or Island Farms (amazing bread, produce and snacks!)Eleuthera is amazing! "

"Exceptiona!
Stayed at Our Na Nog 1/28 - 2/4 and LOVED it. There are multiple buildings - all nicely laid out. Beds comfy - VERY clean which was important to walk into the first day. Christina - home cleaner came every morning at 9am which was nice only complaint would be to push her time back to 10 or 11 - give everyone time to wake and shower first. I had 4 26yr olds with me and they love their sleep so most days she just left fresh towels in their rooms, which was fine with us.
The beach is GORGEOUS...very private and you can drive your car down the long driveway to the private beach if you're feeling lazy - have kids with you - or toting an ice filled cooler. We used the paddle board, scuba equipment and kayaks quite a bit when the wind allowed. The pool is a great size - very clean and has seating for 6 on loungers. We pulled a couple loungers from the cabana (which also houses the scuba gear and umbrellas (2) down to the beach (very close by) and used the little folding chairs they had at the cabana too. We left a big beach blanket with stakes for the next group...fits 6 people and stays in place with sand in the corner pockets and stakes.
You will need your car to go everywhere - except Tippys, which we walked to several nights. Cool snorkeling on the little coral island just off the beach...Water is crystal clear and nothing scary to be afraid of:)
Recommend the shark cage experience with Face2Face Adventures...worth the 45 min drive...Also recommend caves and scuba diving with kk @ Eleuthera Outdoor Adventures. He was phenomenal.
Just an overall relaxing experience...
House is definitely showing wear in the kitchen and baths, but we didn't expect "new" knowing it was built in 2007. We didn't cook in at all except for breakfasts and it worked out great.
Daniel - the host is a wonderful person - very responsive and kind.'
Wifi is not great. TIP: Turn off phones not in use in the great hall to get better reception if needed! "

"Exceptional stay!
This is a lovely property on the beach in an excellent location on Banks Road. Highlights include infinity pool with comfortable lounge furniture, private accommodations with comfortable beds and outdoor furniture plus a brand-new tennis/pickle ball court. Daily maid service was amazing! Kitchen was well-equipped for cooking in, but if you like to go out, the house is also super close to our island favorites:Tippy’s, Buccaneer Club and 1648 at The French Leave. I highly recommend this property!"

"Family vacation
The location is perfect. Nice pool and a direct path to the most beautiful beach ever. The house is just like the description. I would recommend this property. The team we working with, Matthew and Daniel’s were helpful. It was nice having daily housekeeping (except for the two days the roads were flooded so the cleaners couldn’t not get in)There were a few negatives though. The WiFi is extremely weak. We had two guys who needed to do work but signal was too weak. Daniel brought us a hot spot which helped a little. I feel there should be a water filter at the house. There were ten of us so we were always having to go buy water. One last problem was that someone had taken all of the dvds. and just left the cases. Overall it was a great experience and I would do it again"

"May 28, 2022
Very relaxing vacation at the Nog. Loved the grounds and the pool. You can drive down a path to the beach entrance so bringing coolers and such is easier. Very nice cabana at the beach. Water was really moving when we were there so could not snorkel but loved sitting in beach chairs near the water and soaking in the quietness. The town is very small and very expensive but you go for the beaches and while on vacation spend the money at local restaurants.....Tippys was a blast, as was Pascals with Sammy the bartender mixing drinks. 1648 restaurant was nice and the sunset there is a must do. We brought in a Chef one night at the villa to cook and it was wonderful. Other than the mosquitoes the estate is relaxing and well worth every dime. Great place for groups to spend the day together but at nights private enough for couples. I will definitely be back to the Harbor at to the Nog 1 day!"
Jun 03, 2022 - Jack G., Beaumont, Texas

"Great property - internet a problem
The location and property are fabulous. The staff was fabulous. Only complaint was lack of adequate internet. Unfortunately, most of us have to do some work even on vacation so dial up speed crashing connections are a problem. The manager (Daniel) was kind enough to lend his personal hotspot which kept us going. "

"Tir Na Nog rental
Enjoyed immensely our family stay in Eleuthera. The people of the island were wonderful at every encounter and the beaches, sunrises and sunsets were special."

"01/29/22 - 02/05/22
The house/homes were beautiful and very well equiped. The property manager Daniel, the house cleaner and anyone else we encountered during our stay were wonderful and kind. We felt as if we were visiting with old friends as soon as we arived."

"We Loved Tir Na Nog
This property is very simple and natural set-up on the most gorgeous private beach I have ever encountered. The walk to Tippy's is key as well and it's some of the best food around. The management at the property was helpful and very accommodating. We absolutely loved it. While very clean and easy-going, the property could use just a little bit of updating. Some added path lighting could be useful and a way to dehumidify the rooms could ultimately be super helpful. The cleanliness and comfortable decor really do make for a fantastic experience though. I would go back in a heartbeat! This is a very special place!"

"Awesome Remote Beach Get Away
The property is a dream. It is quite and very remote, it feels like you have an whole island for yourself. Great setup and very Caribbean vibe starting with the interior of the houses. Also, super friendly staff. The cleaning personal is awesome and the property manger is always there to help. We will be back. "

"Paradise Found - Does Not Get Any Better Than This
This property is a dream come true. It’s impossible to describe the beauty of this place. If you’re hesitant to spend the extra money - “just do it”. A main house for eating and lounging and separate quarters for adults and kids to have some privacy and downtime were just perfect for our group. The pool is perfectly refreshing after a long day enjoying the salty ocean. The short walk to the beach is delightful because of all the birds and natural foliage to enjoy. The beach itself is beyond description. Aqua water inside a small protected “bay” area formed by an offshore reef for swimming and lounging about. And the cabana down by the water is delicious! Cool ocean breezes keep you comfortable while you sip your favorite rum drink listening to island music watching that pristine aqua water lap the shoreline. There is snorkeling and spear fishing right off the beach and lobstering when in season. There is a nice storage shed with all manner of beach toys, fins, masks, kayaks, paddle boards and even a canoe for exploring and playing in and along the water. The property is lush with all manner of indigenous tropical fruits and flowering plants. It’s a treat just to walk around and explore and learn about the various island delights growing there. The accommodations are comfortable and well kept. The beds and linens and towels are luscious. The 2 one bedroom cabanas are amply comfortable and the master suite is luxurious. And the best thing of all about this property are the people involved in its maintenance and care. Daniel and his crew typify all the wonderful qualities of the Bahamian culture.... warm, engaging, happy, helpful, interesting..... they immediately feel like family and make you want to stay forever. This vacation was like a dream trip for us and we’ve been visiting the Bahamas for over 20 years. But this property - location and people involved - are something altogether magical. "

"Wonderful stay on Eleuthera
Very nice beachfront compound. Bedrooms and common areas very well decorated and maintained. Kitchen felt cramped at times if you are going to be doing a lot of cooking. Lots of space on the property and layout offer privacy for multiple guests/couples. We stayed with young kids and didn't find the bedroom layout to be a problem. Kids got used to it. Very well stocked with pool/beach toys. Wifi was not perfect, but it really isn't anywhere on the Island. Nice location on Banks Rd. close to restaurants and (available) stores. Solid property management and excellent service from Christine."

"Tir Na Nog
Beautiful and unique property, the separate bedroom suites and great hall were ideal for our 7 adult group, Beautiful grounds and great beach front. Daniel provided great support and real island life information. Having ShaunaKnowles as chef for two nights was fantastic . Daily housekeeping was another great help, Thanks for one of our best family vacations ever."

"Tir Na Nog Stay May 8th - May 15th
the place was great - the grounds were well maintained, rooms clean, everything working properly, too. The property manager, Daniel was great - always accessible and happy to help with anything! Housekeeping was great, too - Christine did such a wonderful job each day she came by! Location was great, too!"

"Perfect
Incredible property and location. Complete privacy in an island paradise! We loved the separate living quarters. Perfect for a group of couples traveling together. Beach is pristine and totally private. Pool is lovely. And ability to walk to Tippy’s is fabulous! Daniel and Christine were very helpful and attentive. We will be back! "

"Tir Na Nog is a wonderful place to spend your vacation
The property personnel Christine and Daniel were wonderful. The location is great and our experience was very pleasant. It would've been even better if their was better wifi access in the rooms outside the main dining hall. I will definitely recommend this home and may even look to return in the future."
Feb 06, 2020 - Florence N., North Billerica, MA

"Stunning location [...]
This has to be one of the more stunning pieces of real estate on Eleuthera, and very well located on the island as well. Private, quiet, the perfect distance to walk to Tippy's. The grounds and house-keeper were attentive, thorough and warm. Sparkling clean. The pictures do justice to the tastefulness of the (10 years ago) renovation.

However - I would have wanted to know in advance from the reviews or the villa broker a number of Other Aspects. Tir Na Nog is a long term rental. Mattresses were universally hard (as in cheap), sheets scratchy with rust stains, pillows dated and lower quality. An in-room TV was a brick. The promised in room wifi that is the subject of a cheery "coming soon!" comment to a review on this property from many months ago does not exist. The pool heater was broken the whole week. The concierge did not greet or welcome us without excuse. The alley kitchen is very small and the appliances worn. Lighting in the rooms is from very cheap, worn lamps.

Those sound like petty things (stopped listing them all), and against the backdrop of the tasteful renovation, the beauty of the location, etc., I pondered whether to mention in online review.

But if like me, you are searching High and Low through many listings, and going through a villa broker especially to find That One Place that meets your expectations, we wish we'd selected something different.

Guest experience and the property upkeep are being "managed" by a local person who responds if prodded, but is not vigilant or proactive.

I absolutely loved this place, the island, our time, so many things, but I would have wanted to know in advance about what the kitchen looked like, and how run down aspects of the rooms were. "

"Paradise
The houses and grounds are far prettier in person than in photos. Been to a lot of places in the Caribbean but the beach and water here are the most beautiful I've ever seen. Pink powdery sand and water so blue and clear it looks like a giant swimming pool. Saw 2 people on "our" beach the entire week and I'm talking a half mile in each direction. Huge amount of water toys from kayaks, surfboards, snorkel equip, beach chairs, etc."
Aug 08, 2019 - Terrence B., Richmond, VA

"Tir Na Nog - family gathering
We were a party of 8. We appreciated that all the rooms were separated and private - 3 rooms situated in one cottage, all with private exterior entrances and 2 stand alone cottages, each with a master bed and bath. Great for a group of adults. The great room/dining room and kitchen are situated in a separate cottage - although all buildings are close. We loved the colonial/Bahamian architecture and decorating. The kitchen could have used a bit of an upgrade but was functional. We loved the privacy of the beach. The pool was a nice size but couldn't get the heating to work. 10 minute drive into town, 15 minute walk down the beach to Tippy's. Overall, a lovely villa in a superb location. "
Jul 16, 2019 - Anne M.

"Beautiful property with privacy
Family had a great time at this large estate with great pool and beautiful secluded beach. Had some mechanical issues, mostly with air conditioning that took a couple of days to fix. Food on Eleuthera is very expensive, so be aware of that. Would recommend, no matter the size of your group, that you have one rental car, as it is difficult to obtain supplies."

"Tir Na Nog
Fantastic "

"Great Rental for Multiple Families
Our stay was amazing! The separate rooms were perfect for our three different families but allowed us to get together at the end of the day in the main house for games and conversation. The pool was superb and the beach access was beautiful. Nice having a few showers accessible outside for washing off the sand before entering your room at the end of the day. If your looking for a wonderful, private but spacious rental for your time in Eleuthera, this is the rental for you. "
Nov 19, 2018 - Tanya C.

"Paradise found at Tir Na Nog
Our group had a wonderful experience at this beachfront estate. We did run into issues with the housekeeper, who comes every day, as she felt threatened by our dogs (this is a dog friendly house) and simply did not come back. We feel that she should have approached us to talk about the matter directly as we would have appreciated housekeeping for the entire stay. The caretaker did address the issue, but instead of talking about it, simply should have sent another housekeeper to replace the one that did not want to come anymore. There are gardeners roaming the property too that were not dog friendly either. If we would not have had issues with the staff, this review would have been a 5 all around, it is a shame that such a trivial thing had to dampen our experience."
Oct 04, 2018 - Catherine G., Nassau

"Beautiful home, wonderful island
Tir Na Nog is a terrific location, just up the hill from Governors Harbor. We were able to swim, snorkel, fish, and enjoy the beautiful beach, crystal clear water, and coral reef just yards offshore. Governors Harbor is the perfect place to stay in Eleuthera. The people are wonderful and it's within driving distance of both ends of the island for exploring or fishing trips, etc. We couldn't have been more satisfied with everything. "

"5 Couples Annual Trip.
Stove didn't work for first two days, then new stove.
AC didn't work for first two days, fixed and no other issues.
A great facility and location, and Anne Bethel was a very responsive and great property manager."

"Tir Na Nog Vacation
We wanted a place to spend time with family & close friends & this was perfect. Great layout w/ comfortable gathering place yet plenty of privacy for quiet time. Great location, layout, beautiful beach and friendly, helpful staff. A little attention to landscape and maintenence would make this thoughtfully designed estate a 5 star experience. "
May 10, 2018 - Mark C., Ocean Ridge, FL

"Best Place Ever!
We will definitely be back to this amazing property! Our entire group loved it - we hung by the pool, walked along the beach to Tippy's (our fave restaurant), played tennis every morning, and everyone had their own privacy, which is always ideal on vacation! "
Apr 30, 2018 - Mark S., Granby, CO

"Paradise Found!
We arrived at Tir Na Nog with high expectations and they were is even more beautiful than the pictures can represent. Everything was ready upon our arrival including delivery of our groceries for the week from The Market Place. Anne arrived shortly after, introduced us to our caretakers for the week, Daniel and Christine. Christine cleaned and tidied us up every morning and was a pleasure to work with. Our family of 8 had never been to the Bahamas...Eleuthera was the perfect choice...not too remote but never a busy tourist trap. We had the beach to ourselves most every day - a 2-minute walk from the house and a beautiful new pool to relax in. We had a tennis tournament, played games, cooked gourmet dinners all at Tir Na Nog. We walked to Tippy's for great food and live music, shopped for freshly baked bread, herbs and vegetables at Anne's market, Island Farm. We made a day trip to Harbour Island and enjoyed shopping and frosés at Rock House. Jumped in to the Sapphire Blue Hole and partied at the Friday Fish Fry in Governor's Harbour. Our trip could not have been any more wonderful and Tir Na Nog was our fantastic home away from home."

"Tir Na Nog...
Our family, together with a few friends, stayed at Tir Na Nog for ten days beginning in late October of 2017. Over the past ten years or so, we've rented perhaps a dozen different beach front properties - mostly in the Bahamas (our favorite destination for a holiday), plus two in Mexico, one in Belize, and one in Sardinia. With one exception, all of these properties were quite wonderful. Only Tir Na Nog, however, made my family quite upset - upset that we had to leave. The location is absolutely perfect - on one of the finest beaches in the world...long, crescent-shaped, with the softest sand imaginable, an offshore reef for snorkeling and lobstering, and a little beach bar at one end. In the time we were there, we saw perhaps a dozen other people on "our" beach. Yet the little town of Governor's Harbor is just a few miles away, providing all the services one might need on a holiday, including several nice restaurants. The other thing we loved about Tir was the "compound" layout - one building (comprising a living room, dining area, and kitchen) serving as a delightful gathering place in the evenings, while three separate buildings provided ample space and privacy for everyone in our group (three couples and one single). And having ten acres all to yourself - that's something we've never before experienced in a holiday home. Finally, Christine (housekeeper) keeps the place immaculate. There were a few issues with the plumbing and air conditioning, and with power outages - a small price to pay for the privilege of enjoying such a magical property. "
