Med Point is the best 1 bedroom beach house on the best beach in the best township in Eleuthera. It is a ROMANTIC, SECLUDED AND STYLISH ONE-BEDROOM OCEANFRONT BEACHHOUSE, located on Casuarina Beach and just 100' from French Leave Beach (formerly also known as Club Med Beach for the Club Med resort that was located there in the 90s). It is on the point between the 2 beaches. No other properties are between it and world-famous French Leave Beach. It is a short stroll to Twin Coves Beach and its superb snorkeling reef. Med Point Beach House is like a lighthouse guarding the north end of French Leave Beach, which is the loveliest and safest beach in Eleuthera. In addition, we are only a 1 mile stroll to the center of town.

Med Point cottage has just one neighbor, a house across the road from it. Med Point's large oceanfront deck and oceanfront area are completely private, shielded from view by the cottage itself. The beaches on either side of Med Point are usually deserted.

The house was NEWLY RENOVATED in 2018 by a Governors Harbour's premier designer, with wood floors, Brazilian cherry doors, large Pottery Barn sofas, and new white tiled bathroom. Comforts include 400 thread-count sheets and Thomas by Rosenthal china, and minimalist decor. Step outside the glass doors, and you will see ocean spreading away as far as you can see.

Med Point is a large 1000 square foot one-bedroom house with a huge 1100 square foot teak wrap-around deck facing the beach and ocean. It has all modern conveniences, with a full kitchen, great room, wifi and large sliding glass doors on two sides facing the ocean to maximize your view. It has a KING BED master suite. The dining area faces the ocean. The kitchen is well supplied with cookware.

Amenities include NEW SUPER-FAST STARLINK INTERNET, satellite TV w/100 channels including HBO, CNN, FOX, and BBC, ceiling fans, A/C, a gas grill, and a washing machine. There is a picnic table on the deck, and sun loungers.

Med Point is also close to Tear Coat Cay, a small island offshore, where you can snorkel; also close to lots of reefs for other snorkeling. The water is gin clear, 100 feet of visibility, and we have seen parrot fish, groupers, rays and other exotic fish. The water is 75 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit.

The drive to Med Point, takes you for about half a mile, on a sandy lane through French Leave Beach, looking out to sea and giant cacti and palms. An SUV is recommended for this road as it has rough patches. You will enjoy this splendid view of nature every day, as you go into town.

The famous bar/restaurant Tippy's is close, and there are upscale restaurants such as Sky Beach Club and 1648 Bar and Grill, Bachus Fine Foods within five minutes.

French Leave (Club Med) Beach stretches south for 1 mile: we are at the northern edge where it is quiet, with fewer tourists. Casuarina Beach, stretches north of us for another mile, and then Twin Cove beach stretches north for another mile or so. All of this can be walked along wide sandy pink beaches with excellent shelling. Or you can jog along the sandy path that is Old Banks Road and have wide vistas of white surf.

Most people who walk by Med Point, express regret that they are staying elsewhere! They tell us that they would like to spend their next holiday with us! Come and make your "couples vacation" a glorious dream.

Nearby Activities in Governors Harbour

Governor's Harbour is the main town on the island of Eleuthera, with a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is safe and friendly. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks and bikes. There is excellent sightseeing, as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, and a bottomless ocean hole.

Things To Do in Governors Harbour

For most people who make the trip to Eleuthera, the island of freedom, they come for its peace and serenity -- that feeling of being far removed from the rest of the world. One of the best things about Eleuthera is that you'll almost always have a beach to yourself. And the sand is pink! You can go swimming and snorkeling and see stingrays and other aquatic life here. The Glass Window Bridge is one of the coolest spots to visit on the island. The Ocean Hole is a spot you'll never forget.. read more

"Nice house but Eleuthera was not for us
If you enjoy Eleuthera and its rustic nature (it was too rustic for us, despite our preference for and experience going off the grid in other locations around the world), this is a lovely property for two people. Beautiful views and a great deal of privacy. Many of the sliding glass doors were in need of repair... we could not open them. But imagine maintenance I’d challenging on the island. The caretaker was lovely by WhatsApp, but we had challenges with her responsiveness when we encountered a few issues with the house. But you cannot beat the location if you want to retreat."

"Med Point Beach House - Private, quiet, stunning beaches
We arrived at the beach house and were stunned at the beautiful views. The beach house was tastefully decorated. There is a clothes washer which came in quite handy. It is an absolute must that you rent a high ground clearance vehicle - does not need to be 4WD, but it should have decent ground clearance to ensure your ability to travel the road to beach house (we rented a Jeep Liberty AWD). Most places take credit cards although there is typically a credit card fee. We ate frequently at The Buccaneer Club, Tippy's Restaurant and Beach Bar, 1648 Restaurant. All provided good food and atmosphere. So many beaches to explore! Would definitely stay here again in the future and feel fortunate to have stayed in such a special place. "

"Beautiful beaches
Lovely place with beautiful views of the ocean. Off the beaten path which is part of what makes it special-you need an SUV to get to the cottage. We love to cook and brought spices and oil which was helpful. Great walking beaches and had a few days with low winds and did some snorkeling off the beach which was great. "

"Awesome location!
This house could not be in a better location, you are right at the north end of French Leave Beach have incredible ocean views! The house is clean and comfortable with plenty of space for a couple. We had an excellent stay and found the property management company was very responsive to all questions and requests. We love to cook, and it would’ve been nice for the kitchen to have a bit more in the way of utensils and supplies and a dishwasher but we were certainly able to manage. We would definitely rent again!"

"Medpoint
Medpoint Cottage is in a fabulous location. It was easy to find. The courage itself was in a bit of a tired condition. The sliding glass door in the bedroom did not lock. The beaches next to the cottage are some of the best on the island."

"Beautiful & Romantic Cottage
Med Point was an absolute dream! Gorgeous views from every window, two of the prettiest and most private beaches on either side of you. You are also within walking distance to Twin Coves which is beautiful. The cottage was very coastal, bright and secluded! It had the necessities needed to make meals during our week stay. Sherri the caretaker went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable during our stay and answered any questions I had about the area. We really did not want to leave and hope to be back to Med Point on our next visit! "

"A beautiful and quiet escape in Eleuthera
The Med Point Beach House is an amazing location straddling two beautiful beaches. It is perfect for those looking for a quiet escape. There is only one house close by and it was empty during our stay. We only encountered a few people during our daily walk of the beaches. The dirt road to the house is bumpy and best done with a 4-wheel drive vehicle. There is a large deck overlooking the beach, coral garden and a small island. The house is clean, well stylized with comfortable furniture, and fairly well equipped. It could benefit from better kitchen utensils. Albeit at little slow (as expected as there are no land lines), internet service was reliable."

"Superlative in every way
As others have previously stated, Med Point Cottage is an amazing location. It is thirty feet away from the surf with five floor-to-ceiling sliding doors providing a panoramic view. And yet, there is complete privacy. (There were no bed bugs.)
To the right is the well-known French Leave pink sand beach. It’s a mile long and we never saw more than six people on it the whole eight days we were there. To the left is Casuarina beach. It’s about a half mile long and we were the only people on the beach the whole time except for a couple of people on walks.
There is a large five-bedroom house behind the cottage (same owner) but you have almost no sense that it, or its occupants, are there.
We were met by Christine Rolle, the resident manager for both houses. She was delightful. She advised that the washing machine was being replaced, but then she immediately offered to do our laundry for us
The cottage interior has been thoughtfully decorated. Very simple. Very white. Interesting prints on the walls. The recessed halogen lighting creates a dramatic presentation of the space at night. There are three very silent ceiling fans and one very quiet air conditioner that do a fine job of keeping the house cool. Mentions were made about the firmness of the king-sized bed. We can confirm that is it very firm. We were fine with it. Others may not be.
The house is about a one-hour drive from the North Eleuthera airport and is ten minutes from Governor’s Harbor. Others have mentioned the rough road that must be navigated to get to the house. It is, most definitely, rough. A car can make it if you’re gentle, but having an SUV is a much better idea.
A few comments about shopping. There are two small grocery stores in Governor’s Harbor: Eleuthera Supply and Burrows. The selection at both is similar, but Burrows accepts credit cards whereas Eleuthera is all-cash. The availability of fresh vegetables and fruit is very limited. Very"

"Beautiful getaway
We had a wonderful time at Med Point. It was the perfect getaway we needed. The big house next to the cottage was empty so it was very private. The Med Point cottage was very clean and spacious. It had everything we needed. We loved being right on the water and being able to walk the beautiful beaches everyday. Snorkeling right from the house was amazing! We will definitely be coming back!
Tips: If you fly in on a Sunday grocery stores close by 3pm so bring what you need for the first day. Bug spray is a most and needs to be applied early and often! Good water shoes will come in handy as the rocks by the water are sharp. We loved walking into town and stopping at the bakery, coffee shop, liquor/grocery store and dining at Buccaneers. The road to the house is rough so like others have said a SUV is nice but we could only get a minivan and it was doable. Remember you’re on island time so RELAX and don’t stress the little things. Enjoy!"

"Slice of beach heaven!
The location of this rental is fabulous! I will suggest to rent a jeep to get to it. The proximity to two of the most beautiful beaches, French Leaves and Twin Cove, cannot be beat! It has most things for you. Depending on when you get there you might want to ask for coffee and filters. We got in later and didn't have it first thing next day. Make sure you bring good bug spray for the No See um'! This is just what you have to do in the Bahamas. It is close to all the restaurants and our favorite town Governor's Harbour. This is where you want to stay! The couches are comfortable and the place is the perfect size. The mattress is VERY firm. That is my only thing I wish they would get a better mattress bc it is like a board. Everything else is perfection! You must get a pie from Christine the property manager. They are DELICIOUS! "

"Special place
Had a nice time at Med Point. Weather was touch and go, but the place was sooo great. Lots of room for a couple. It's a special place."

"Cozy, comfortable home in an unbelievable location
We stayed at MedPoint for 2.5 weeks in September 2021, which is low season. It is an extraordinary property, remote but 5 minutes to town, with 270 degree views of the beach panorama. It's hard to convey or photograph how beautiful it is. (We joked that the parking space, framed by palms, beach, mangroves, and bright blue water, might be the most beautiful parking space in the world). It's also right next to French Leave and Twin Coves beaches, in our experience the two most beautiful on the Island.

The house itself is cozy and functional. It's more spacious than I expected, with comfortable furniture and a well-stocked kitchen (though no dishwasher). In some ways you need to be prepared for "island living", much like everywhere on Eleuthera. There were regular Island-wide blackouts; the wifi was fast, but not reliable; and you'll be bitten up if you forget to apply bug spray. But of course that's also part of the charm!

As we stayed during low season, the other house on the property (Alfred House) was vacant. I would note that it's very close, and you would have limited privacy if it were occupied. But otherwise the location is incredibly private, with no neighbors for about half a mile and just a handful of cars driving by each day.

"Paradise Found!
This house is pure heaven! We travel all the time and use VRBO at least 4 times a year and this is our best vacation ever. We loved the home, it was clean and beautifully decorated and the location was on the nicest beach I've ever been to. We loved to snorkel, swim, sun and walk all day long and almost never saw another person. It felt like we were on a deserted island. The sunrises were spectacular and I found myself springing out of bed to go for a run so I could capture them on my phone. The jungle trails leading away from the house and running alongside the beach were awesome. We knew there were many other places to visit on the island of Eleuthera, but we were so happy here, that we never wanted to leave and venture out. We loved cooking freshly caught lobster tails, fish, and many other delicious meals in the home. We went to a few restaurants and they were lovely but we saw no other place on the island that we liked as much as our little spot. "

"Return to French Leave Beach after 35 years!
My wife and I had first visited French Leave Beach (Club Med) 35 years ago while staying at the Club Med. French Leave Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Club Med is no longer there but we were lucky to find Med Point Beach House. It's location is just steps away for French Leave Beach. The beach house was perfect for us. We like seclusion and we got it. We had a two mile stretch of beach to ourselves. We only saw one or two people a day walking the beach and no one else on the beach as far as you could see.
The house was great. Christine had it all ready. She brought us to the house and we were set for the week. We loved the house and the location. We have already booked a week next year."

"Awesome location
Med Point is so close to the water it stuns every time you see it. Awesome, quiet spot for two."

"November stay 2020
Everything was fantastic. Nicely furnished, clean, right at the beach. Really enjoyable stay. The care taker Christine met us, we followed her to the grocery store and liquor store and she waited while we shopped. Followed her to the house and showed us everything. Would highly recommend! "

"Private Paradise
Just returned from an amazing 2 weeks at Med Point house celebrating 40 years of marriage! We could not have found a better place for beautiful views, comfortable living, and privacy. We are fortunate to have traveled to Eleuthera several times this visit was definitely one of the best. Christine is so friendly and helpful checking on us near daily; and her Pineapple Upside Down cake and Key Lime pie is as she says, “ the best on the island”. Having the Alfred House unoccupied was appreciated sooooo much!! "

"Beautiful paradise
We loved our stay at Med Point. The house was adorable and was perfect for us. It was clean and the view was beautiful. Christine was great and had everything ready for us. We do wish the house had cable as it gets dark so early in December so it would have been nice to have that option. We loved the beach on either side of the house. We had the best time and would rent here again. "

"Great property & exceptional service - 5 star experience
Lovely cottage on the beach - I'd go back in a heartbeat. Clean, modern, and very comfortable. Matt and his team are exceptional to book with - I would absolutely use Eleuthera Vacation rentals again! Can't wait to return. "

"Med Point November 2019
This was our first trip to Eleuthera and we absolutely loved the island and the house. The location was perfect and the house had everything we needed. Christine was very helpful with any questions we had. Only downfall was no power the first night due to high winds. Would definitely recommend Med Point!!!"

"Great place
Great place overall.

Need a proper sound system, was no way to play music, the small cheap radio is broken.

The TV has no wifi and no connections for mobile/tablets, so not possible to watch netflix. Need a more modern TV with built in wifi.

"Medpoint House at Governors Harbor, Eleuthera, Bahamas
Medpoint House is a beautiful one bedroom house between two magnificent beaches. It was very private, even though it was on a small secluded road, and the views were stunning. The only thing lacking were some minor provisions, and there were no kayaks, or other gear for the beach. We did have beach chairs available.

This was a great vacation, and the house is perfect for two people. The deck overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, and all the reefs right off shore. The owners checked with us to make sure we had all we needed, and the custodian Christine was wonderful, attentive, and available if needed. We did not need much, but we knew that Christine would take care of any needs we had.

All in all, this is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and we did not want to leave. We will certainly be back, and cannot wait for our next trip there."

"Med Point
Enjoyed our stay there again.
Upgrades made since last year were a surprise and welcomed .
Appreciated the service "
Feb 28, 2019 - Walter B.

"Romantic Getaway
The med Point property is a special place. During our stay there we literally had the entire beach to ourselves. Fresh lobster from lobster fishermen right on our beach. Excellent location to town. Christine was wonderful. She even baked treats and delivered them frpom her shop to the house. "
Jan 11, 2019 - Margaret T., Fox Island, WA

"October get-away
Med Point exceeded our expectations. The location is private and the views are breathtaking. The kitchen set up was great and we prepared breakfast and dinner at home every day. We generally did lunch out. I recommend Sterling Moss’s “King Yello” counch salad for lunch and be sure to check out the Bakery. The Governors Harbor area kept us busy all week but this review is about Med Point.
The bed was comfortable, the AC worked great, and the new bathroom is probably going to be recreated in my new home. Med Point is on the Atlantic side of the island with prevailing on-shore winds, so if you have “bug” concerns you can mark that off your list. I recommend Med Point and plan to return next your for a longer stay."

"perfect house for a holiday in close to the ocean
this is the perfect hous!!!
the manager has been really nice and the contact on site has been very kind to us
I would recommend it for a party of 2 or 3 not more
perfect location, you are practically in the sea very close to a lot of beautiful beaches, quite and still very close to the village
I would definitely spend another holiday there
"

"Honeymoon
We had a fantastic stay at Med Point. The location was absolutely perfect, we kept the doors open to listen to the waves as much as possible. Privacy was amazing, because of the reef in front dividing the beaches, we never saw anyone walking in front of the property. We walked down to Club Med beach everyday and did the 4mile walk there and back, we rarely passed more then 6 people in the morning.
The owner was great at getting back to us whenever we needed something.
The kitchen needs a few more supplies (pots and pans are wobbly and old) to function better.
Never saw any kayaks that we heard about.
The toilet seat definitely needs replacing, it’s cracked and old making it look dirty. These are just minor things to improve on for the next guest. We would come back in a heartbeat and are missing it every day."
May 01, 2018 - Amy W., Calgary, AB

"Beautiful location
Right on the beach after a short drive on a dirt road. Lovely little house that was just as pictured online. The sliding doors and screens were difficult to work and the outdoor shower was stuck and was unusable. Unfortunately the power went out for 40 hours and there were no candles in the house-only one working mini flashlight and a small lantern. The owner is aware of all this and is correcting them and putting in a generator. Amazing beaches. "

"Can we stay forever?
This little cottage is so comfortable and romantic. The deck overlooking the ocean feels very private and there was almost never anyone on the beach. This place is perfect for experiencing Eleuthera’s gorgeous beaches. "
Apr 16, 2018 - , Lakewood, CO

"Medpoint House
Property was not all that well maintained...sliding doors operated poorly..screens let in no see elms...got chewed up pretty bad at night..wi fi service was a joke..

However, beautiful view, nice beach, friendly locals...."
Mar 16, 2018 - Michael H W., la port, IN

"Med Point, a Mixed Bag
Med Point is spectacularly located at the end of the most beautiful beach on Eleuthera. Unfortunately, the narrow, deeply-rutted dirt road to reach it is a challenge, even with 4-wheel drive. The house itself is adequate for 2 people, but minimally outfitted and in need of TLC. Sun, salt and sand have left the structure and furnishings in need of replacement or repair: stained curtains, sliding doors which don't open, bathroom mold, rusted coffee maker and refrigerator shelves and missing light bulbs. Despite frequent power outages on the island, the house has no generator, candles or battery-powered lantern. One of the two tiny flashlights had dead batteries, making for a very dark evening! All in all, we would hesitate to recommend this property unless necessary improvements were made. "
Feb 15, 2018 - , Vero Beach, FL

"Another Great Stay
This was our 3rd visit to Med Point and we enjoyed our stay once again. The cottage is set on a point between 2 fabulous beaches that we walked each day. "
Dec 17, 2017 - David B., Fredericton, New Brunswick

"honeymoon stay
We loved our stay and wish we were still there. A perfect place if you want privacy and to be disconnected. We were there in hurricane season, so there were very few people on the island. At times, we had a mile or so of beach all to ourselves. There wasn't much open in the way of stores, but once we got our bearings and a few groceries, we didn't have any worries. The caretaker, Christine, cooked us a wonderful curry chicken dinner midway through the week, and the Friday Fish Fry with the locals was delightful. I wish we were there now. "
Nov 02, 2017 - Michael G., Charlotte, NC

"Summer Vacation
We had a wonderful week vacation in the Med Point beach house the last week of July. The staff met us at the airport and made sure we were able to find the house. The proximity to restaurants and groceries in Governors Harbor made it super convenient to find anything we needed. The location couldn't have been better in relation to French Leave Beach. July was extremely hot so it took a day of running the a.c./ceiling fans to regulate the temperature but everything got comfortable at night making it easy to sleep. The wrap around porch was wonderful as advertised for viewing the sky and ocean. We enjoyed the stay immensely and would go back."
