"A wonderful stay but some improvements needed
We had a wonderful time. Overall the condo was good and we will be renting this unit again. However, there definitely are improvements that should be made that would make a stay more enjoyable. Here are the items that come to mind.
1. The frying pans are not at all usable. Luckily, we read previous reviews so we brought our own.
2. The refrigerator was very loud, irritating and ran 95% of the time.
3. The ice maker was basically useless. While technically it did make ice, the bottom of the ice pan would partially fill with water and freeze to the cubes. We ended up using ice trays, which were already there.
4. Many of the vertical blinds were missing or falling out. We had to be very cautious and rarely moved the blinds for fear more would fall out.
5. The master bedroom bathroom exhaust fan did not work. We had to leave the door open so the mirror would defog.
6. The washer machine made strange loud clunk sounds during certain cycles (even with a small light load) but it did seem to work ok.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The unit 1010 needs some attention, not as well equipped as we hoped. Pots and pans are lacking and also silverware could use more of that. We cook and eat in so we might be different than most guests. The unit was basically clean, however not as clean, nothing outstanding though. The unit needs some work, I did speak with staff about this and the housekeeping supervisor. None of this interfered with our vacation though, the location is great and the Surfmaster itself is a nice place to stay."

Beautiful view, decent living room furniture. Hot tub that we enjoyed. The negatives.... Kitchen was very lacking in
Silverware resulting in having to run dishwasher daily.
Mattresses need to be replaced, lumpy and uncomfortable. Horrible flat pillows. The cleaning crew needs to step it up. From first day you can see where they’ve only cleaned “around furniture” not under it. Upon arrival there was not even a small size bottle of dish soap so you need to go to a store immediately. Spend a few dollars to make it more convenient for your guest. Communication
With rental agency was professional, no issues there. "

The condo we stayed at this year was not as nice as previous rentals. It was outdated. The balcony furniture needs to be pressure washed or replaced. When we dropped something and pulled the couch out to find it the floor underneath was very dirty."

One comforter had stains on it that when personally washed all came clean. Appeared to be spots of chocolate or brown residue on bedspread. Sheets, pillow cases and washcloths were stained also. The condo needs some upgrades and some thorough cleaning to be a 4-5 star condo. "

"Gorgeous Ocean View
We love staying at Surfmaster By the Sea because of the beautiful ocean front views and convenience of having the beach and pools so close together. My family has been vacationing there for 16 years. Condo 1010 was very clean but needs a total upgrade. The lighting is minimal and there was broken bedside lamp. I had to move a lamp from the living room to the bedroom to be able to read my book at night. The kitchen is decent but the appliances need to be replaced. The refrigerator wasn’t making ice and the water dispenser didn’t work. The unit was pretty clean but the hard tile floors were cold and our feet were black with dirt after walking around on them. Other than those few complaints, we had a great week! We appreciate the use of the condo and hope to be able to return next year!"

"Hidden gem
Our family came to myrtle beach this year for family vacation with our two small kids. This place was everything and more. Probably the best thing about it was the fact that it is so close the beach. I mean you walk 5 steps to the elevator and get off and walk 20 steps to the beach or 10 steps to pool. It was great because of the kids and all the stuff we had to take down. We also were able to go to the room if needed to eat and grab something. Clean, convenient, so much to do and a total blast. We had a few small issues where we needed maintenance and they were there right away to assist. And the ocean front balcony was another feature we loved too. Just gorgeous. A+ place "

"Surfmasters vacation room 1010--Dirty Room
When we entered our room and started putting our things away, there were many things that had not been cleaned. The refrigerator on the inside had stuff spilled on inside of door, the trash can was dirty on outside, the kitchen counter was dirty, the master bathroom sink was filthy around the edges, hair was found other bathroom drain and dirty sheets were found in closet of bedroom at front door. I called my brother and he called housekeeping. I had already wiped these things with Lysol wipes I had brought with me. Two women from housekeeping came up and recleaned the condo.I told them what I found and cleaned.They went to each room and cleaned. There was a clump of dust, dirt and sand they had swept up in a big pile. One of the women said she wrote down everything I told her, she added what she had found, and also took pictures. She was going to tell her supervisor. My brother had made the reservations, but myself and 2 other people actually occupied the condo.

The unit is quite nice and furnished beautifully. The one negative thing I will say is that this unit is not as clean as the other units we have stayed in. I clean for a living so I do notice everything. Attention in master bath tile around floor I dusted myself because it had not been done for a while. And sliders in main space were a mess. I think they tried to clean but whatever they used did nothing but smear in one BIG circle. I went out and bought window cleaner and did it myself.I think owners need to know about cleaning service."

the condo was very nice kitchen well stocked liked the open kitchen area. the weather was great. tile floors were easy to keep clean. I was afraid being on the 10th floor would be a problem but it was actually nice. My only complaint was the heating/ac unit. there was no way to control the temp, called office but no one ever showed up. we learned to control the temp by keeping the door open or closed as needed I like the door lock vs key took a while to memorize the code. My only other complaint it was very dark in the rooms I had to buy a lamp for light when sitting at the side table. could not see well to read or play games. \thank you for a nice place"

It was clean... property is a little older but in decent shape. This particular room could use a little paint and culk redone around sinks. Lots of dishes and silverware, etc... furniture was comfy and living area was roomy. Staff was great parking was fine. The only thing I would recommend is an Ice machine on premises. Ice machine in room was slow. Love that there is an office in the building for Garden City Reality and lived the keypad vs. a key to get in and out. Overall though great stay!!!"

The unit is very nice! Had to have maintainence come to fix the sofa bed and reset TV's. They came quickly!. Only complaint is that the TV in the master bedroom had an eerie glow when turned off, so we unplugged it like the previous person had!"

"Won't stay in this one again
We come to "Surfmaster" twice a year. We have stayed in several different units, however we will not stay in this unit again even if it is the last available. We froze. We were there 9/10/16-9/17/16. It was in the 80's all week. We sit with blankets over us while watching tv. Told the office and maintenance man came and told us that the thermostat was controlled by the owner. (programmable thermostat) but he would tell him. Didn't help. Used the blankets whole time we were there. Used the washer/dryer,sounded like a freight train. Master bath could have been cleaner around the floor. Living room couch and loveseat very uncomfortable. "

"Nice...but there are better options
This is a very nice condo, but it does need some updating. The furniture in the living room especially needs replacing, as the arms on the couches are falling off! However the view is absolutely incredible. We had extended family meet us for a group vacation, and therefore had 5 separate condo units in this building. This unit did not compare to the others unfortunately, and I paid as much (or in some cases, more) than they did. For this reason I feel the unit should be updated, as it is not comparable to other units at the same price point."

Very nice unit, but we would not stay again until the 2 mattresses are replaced on the twin beds in the guest room. My one child slept on the sofa bed because it was so uncomfortable and the other child placed the 2 mattresses on top of each other. Other than that it was a good unit."

"Great Experience at Surfmaster unit 1010
We were very happy with our choice to stay at the Surfmaster 1010. The unit was as described and in perfect order. We were there because of a baseball tournament so we found the in unit washer and dryer invaluable. Great View of Course from the unit! Hardly a wait for the elevators and the parking was not a problem at all which was a nice surprise because we have had troubles in the past at other Condos trying to find a place for our Crew Cab pick up.
The one thing we found very bothersome was each night about 930pm other guests had started there very own fireworks displays until at least 11pm. Im talking morters exploding right off your balcony here, not firecrackers and sparklers. Very annoying. "

"Great week at a good location
Everything was as described. Great ocean view and convenient to most things we wanted to do and places we wanted to visit. Only negatives were elevators worked somewhat sporadically, one of the pools was closed due to some maintenance issues and parking spaces were limited. All of these were offset by the property, the nice unit we stayed in and great location. "

The overall experience was quite good. The unit had a beautiful view, was very clean, and the furnishings were fine with only one glaring exception. The couch and love seat were terribly uncomfortable and in dire need of replacement. One arm of the loveseat was broken and flopped back and forth. I would love to stay in this unit again and would recommend it, only if, the couch and loveseat were replaced with, at least, average quality furniture."

"Very nice place for a family
This was a very nice condo and we enjoyed it. The only thing we were disappointed in is the second bedroom (the one with the twin beds). I would call this a "kids room". As our party had four adults (two couples), we took this second room. There was a small table between the twin beds, but no lamp (so you had to get up and walk across the room to shut off the only light). All the rest of the condo was very nicely updated, but honestly this room needs a little more work. It looked like it was an "afterthought", done quickly and with the bare minimum. If the owners would just add a small table lamp between the beds it would help a lot. Fine for parents with two kids, but I would not book it for two adult couples again."

"Some updates but needs attention
We did not have a great experience at this condo. Looks nice online, but did not fit our needs. Condo was not cleaned well. There were spots on refrigerator that looked like rust but did wipe off. Floors were dirty. Kitchen appliances were ancient and kitchen poorly equipped for cooking. The washer was broken and not fixed the entire time we were there. This was one reason we rented a condo with two babies. Garden City Realty did give us partial refund for this.We wanted to watch a DVD as a family, but the DVD player cord was duct taped to the TV and there were bootlegged movies. Is this legal? The air is an energy saver system and the temp was up to 80 on several occasions during the day. When we called with complaints, they sent a heating and air guy out but he couldn't do anything to fix it. The location and view was great. I think with some attention from the owners it could be a nice condo, but I would not stay again."

Surfmaster's beach location is absolutely perfect. Having the rental office on the premises and all towels and linens included is also very convenient. And the weather cooperated splendidly."

Great vacation! We have stayed in the Surfmaster condo's before but first time in this condo. The condo itself is very good. However, I have rated it low because of the furniture. The furniture especially in the living area is very old, arms on loveseat broken, and very dirty. We had to use pillow cases on the throw pillow in order to use them. I would not stay in this condo again unless the furniture is upgraded or replaced.

Parking is an issue if you leave and return late in the evening or night. Had to park across the street three nights. The twin beds were very firm. Had a great view of the ocean, the reason we were there. Pool and hot tub were very nice. "

"Overall A Great Vacation
We had a great vacation. The beach is very nice and clean. The property was well tended to, but does need a bit up updating, such as painting and general maintenance. The condo was updated, but the kitchen is poorly furnished and the appliances need to be updated. There is security on the property, which is nice, but I found it a bit ridiculous when the guard questioned us the minute we arrived and parked. We explained we had just arrived and were calling other family members, who did the actual check-in for our condo, for the parking permit. He proceeded to write a ticket and rudely stated they better hurry! Other than that our stay was enjoyable and the staff was nice."

"Miserable
10th floor oceanfront unit @ $350/night. Air conditioning was sporadic at best and nonexistant last nite there. Management provided band-aid fix but did not resolve the problem. Imagine 86 degrees with 80% humidity and no AC. Avoid it like the plague. Additionally it was quite evident that the problem was not a new one. Found two fans in the closet as we were checking for belongings just prior to to leaving. There was a professionally made plaque on the snack bar telling you how to "reset" the air conditioning,unfortunately that only worked part of the time and only lasted for one cycle and would have to be done the last nite,the procedure yielded no results at all. It is a shame because this is a nice clean unit in a good location with a nice beach and pool.Have contacted management, still waiting for results."

We were disappointed in the unit,1010. It is in need of an overhaul. Needs carpeting in bedrooms and living room. Lighting was not good and the TV was terrible. We have a different unit for 2014. Also, the living room furniture was in need of replacing, but the building was great."

We selected unit 1010 because of the ceramic tile, only to find out the floors were filthy. The furniture was very uncomfortable.The bed in the master bedroom was a king size bed made with two uneven twins butted together.One soft and one semi-firm. Very uncomfortable. Spare bedroom was so dark we needed a flashlight look for anything in dresser drawer.Master bathroom was painted blue. Was there a sale on blue paint. That is the reason we left early."
