"Nice Roomy Condo
The condo is exactly as pictured, very clean, and right on the beach. As a family, we really liked the location. The beds were comfortable, but could really use an update on the bedding, like heavier blankets and heavier comforters. "

Condo is great! Beds are comfy. Stayed in many condos over the years and this one has the best fridge with an ice maker. I am picking up something for Linda Lee. There should be two is that which one is that? OK Bathrooms are nice with tall vanities and toilets! View from balcony is awesome. Plan to give the drawers a thorough wipe when you arrive but was clean in all other places. Choose 503 and you will be happy!"

"Not worth the price
The property is large. 2 queen beds, king and pull out. But it is very dated and dirty. The towels and blanket were not clean. There was a sign posted on refrigerator to not set thermostat below 75 degrees because is will freeze up. The refrigerator took along time to cool food. For the price property was very basic and cheap. "

Condo was very nice and clean; exactly as described. Lots of space for a family without feeling cramped. Furniture and bedding were very comfortable. View was amazing! Kitchen provided everything needed (except for meat thermometer to cook prime rib). Great time to visit with nice weather and no crowd. We've stayed in Okaloosa Island several times and this has been my husband's favorite condo so far. Will be back."

Condo was nice with the exception of needing a few things. Matser bath sink would stop up with water before water could get hot, Sink in the other bathroom would not get any hot water to it. Faucets look like someone had not cleaned them from previous guest, they had toothpaste on them. "

"Girl's Getaway
We recently stayed in this beautiful condo for a girl's getaway. We had plenty of room for the 5 of us and we enjoyed the accomodations. The kitchen was very spacious and we loved spending time on the large balcony.There was enough outdoor furniture for all of us to sit and enjoy the ocean view. We did have a bit of difficulty trying to figure out how the flush the toilets but everything else was great. We have already booked this condo again for summer 2023. "

Multiple problems with this unit including water leaking from ceiling in both bathrooms, toilets don’t work well. Very dated furnishings and decor. Young man who provided beach service was rude and tried to make us pay for sitting in chairs that were supposed to be included. "

"To Many umbrellas

"COVID Relief
We have stayed at Surf Dweller many times and this was one of the best units we’ve stayed in. It was very well stocked and also very comfortable. The amenities were an added plus. Since we have stayed in this complex we were a little disappointed that we didn’t have the full closet in the master bedroom. There was also a total of 4 closets that were locked up. If we had multiple people this could have been a problem. The only other thing was that a new refrigerator was to be delivered and we asked that that not happen since we didn’t want extra people in the unit because of COVID. This request was granted. Would definitely stay here again and Brooks and Shorey rocks!"

While Surf Dweller is not the newest property on Okaloosa Island, it’s location on the beach, large balcony, views from master bedroom, living, dining and kitchen cannot be beat. It looks just like shown in the pics, tastefully decorated with all equipment in good working order. If you come to the beach for the views, access to the Gulf, closeness to attractions, easy parking, then this is for you. We loved it and made some great memories. "

This condo was everything I was looking for! Beautiful, clean and very spacious. My favorite part was the balcony. Spectacular views! I was in heaven. Overall nice condo, took awhile to get hot water and find the towels, usually put out for people. The kitchen sink smelled like fish when we turned on the water, due to a dirty garbage disposal which I cleaned. Also definitely needs a large frying pan, we cooked for 5 and I had to buy one but took it home. I see now that someone mentioned it in an earlier review. Also I would've swept but there is no dust pan. Pool was nice and this condo was convenient to an elevator. Vacation cut short by Hurricane Michael, we'll try another time. "

Everything was great except for getting stuck in the elevator. One of the elevators was shut down already. I was very upset that no one answered the elevator phone, I did have my cell phone with me but if I hadn't I would not have been able to contact anyone. The fire dept. had to come and prize the door open. I also called Surf Dweller office and no one answered and they didn't have a recording of what to do in case of emergency. The Condo was very pretty and clean, but I don't know if I want to stay at this property again. Will definitely book through Brooks and Shorey again though. "

The only negative thing I had was the pool was closed a couple of days while we there. Normally, I wouldn't even go to the pool, but we had smaller children and there were red flags every day, so the kids wanted to get in the pool. Otherwise, the rental company was nothing but helpful. The condo was perfect!!"

Surf Dweeler is a wonderful building and I was delighted with the accomodations. However, you should give a longer-term renter access to a vacuum cleaner. This condo is the epitome of relaxation! When thinking about getting away from the day to day.....consider SD 502! It is so comfortable! The master bedroom opens directly onto a fabulous balcony. Love the sound of the ocean waves...they got you covered. Love to tan, but really don't care for all the sand...that's okay. The balcony will allow you to get those Sun rays! The kitchen has PLENTY of dishes! You definitely don't have to worry about that! Great stay! Will be planning a return trip!"

The condo was perfect for our needs. It is spacious and seating in the living area and patio was plenty. The only issue we had was the hot water seemed to take forever to reach the bathrooms. In fact after a cold shower I decided to call for maintenance. He was prompt to arrive and check out the hot water heater but determined nothing was wrong. It just takes FOREVER for the hot water to reach the faucets. Other than that, the stay was perfect. "

"Summer Vacation at Surf Dweller, 502
We were pleased with the unit and location. It would be helpful if we knew in advance what kind of coffee maker there is so we cn bring the right filters from home -- minor issue. May we suggest upgrading the decore to a little more modern, i.e. 80's wallpaper, popcorn ceiling, VHS videos are outdated, but not necessary. It was uncomfortable that the entire condo is tile, no carpet. Floor feels very gritty with the sand that gets tracked in, you cannot walk around barefoot. When comparing to the unit we had last year at Summerlin, we preferred Summerlin. Surfdweller seems a little old and beat up. But overall -- it served it's purpose. Elevator closest to our unit was not working for several days, which was inconvenient. Would also be helpful to have a ceiling fan out on the balcony -- not much air circulation. Thank you."

The balcony view was amazing! The size of the balcony was large enough for all of us! The beach was perfect! White sand beaches and not overcrowded. The condo was a good size; it was nice to have two full beds in the second bedroom, but a king and a full would be better. You could not turn the air conditioning under 75 degrees, so it was Never very comfortable for this menopausal grandma. The hot water took forever to get warm.?The bathtub was difficult to give children baths with the sliding doors, but doable. The dishware was dated, I think someone older must own it. Overall, it was a great place to stay! "

"Great vacation!
we go to the beach every April and September and have stayed in many different locations and condos. Surf Dweller 502 was by far the best condo unit we have ever stayed at. The furniture was extremely comfortable especially the beds. Lots of balcony furniture, full size washer and dryer was a huge plus! The kitchen had everything we needed. The ice maker was not working when we got to the unit but we called for service and received it the next morning. It could not be fixed so the property owner told them to replace with a new one. Great service!!!! We will definitely stay at this unit again!!! Thanks for a relaxing and and comfortable vacation!!!!"

"Unhappy with 502
We have stayed 4 or 5 times with Brooks and Shorey and always in Surf Dweller. This is first time in 502 and very unhappy with condo. We are not complainers; but this needs to be worked on. Some things we did not even use; so could be more wrong. The guest bath the shower door needs replaced. When you slide door to get in it is stuck and other door comes off track. Master bath has electrical problem with light, it would go off and on sometimes and the night before we left it would not turn on at all. I feel these are things that should have already been known about and been fixed. They did not just break. Owner needs to fix."

We loved our stay. We have stayed at the Surf Dweller last year and decided to stay again. The condo is very large. You have plenty of room. The only problem we had was it didn't come with extra toilet paper, no washing machine detergent, the dish washing machine spelled. I would give the place a 5 star...just wish we didn't have to go buy those things. "

We loved our condo! It was clean & decorated with a beachy feel. It was located right beside the beach. Our bedroom was amazing! The bedroom with a king size bed overlooked the beach with ceiling to floor patio doors leading out to a great balcony. We even seen dolphins early in morning while drinking our coffee on balcony! "Our vacation
This unit (SD502) has been updated and is very nice. However, when we turned the bed down, there was blood on the sheets and the mattress pad was down at the foot of the bed. Whoever was in charge of cleaning this unit did a horrible job of it. As it was after midnight, we didn't call the rental company for clean linens. I washed and dried the sheets and mattress pad myself (this made it very late before we could go to bed). I was very concerned that the mattress and pillows did not have full covers on them (I know this is the owners responsibility, not the rental company). The mattress had a pad that was crinkly and made noise every time you moved. There were ants in the bedroom and on the balcony; the floors were dirty, especially in the bathrooms. The coffee pot was caked with old coffee. We were very disappointed in the condition of the unit and it affected our vacation. We will not rent with Brooks and Shorey Resorts again. We did not contact them about this because we did not want our vacation interrupted with them coming in and re-cleaning and de-buging the unit - that should not have been necessary. We expected the unit to be clean and bug free.

The condo was beautiful and very spacious! few minor things like chain on fan not working and towel holder very loose, that was fixed fast! LOVED LOVED LOVED the balcony! the main thing I didn't like was the location of the pool! I'm at the beach and I would like to see the beach while I'm laying out, also my mother is elderly and needs to use a walker so it would have been easier for her to enjoy the view if the pool would have been on the gulf side! I know I chose this place! lol"

"Beach Buckeyes
Our week at Okaloosa Island was the most relaxing vacation we have experienced in years. The beach is absolutely wonderful. We are used to going to Myrtle Beach, but I have to say that Okaloosa Island beach is so much better. It's not only beautiful, it is also very quiet and relaxing. But, on the other side of that, just 10 minutes down the road, in Destin, are all the restaurants and shopping and activities you could want. The Surf Dweller condo we used was very neat and clean, which is a must for us. We have stayed in many VRBO condo's, but this is by far the best. We loved watching the dolphins each morning while having breakfast on the balcony. The Dolphin Cruise was terrific. We are so looking forward to going back. "

"Spring Break Stay
The condo we rented was beautiful. Our only problem was that after a 13 hour drive we arrived to find the condo was not cleaned. Upon calling the reality company we were told they would send someone over. Then we got another call saying they weren't in charge of cleaning the property so they would just be dropping off towels and sheets for me to clean the rental and someone would be by the next day to clean. I was not happy and told them I did not drive 13 hours and pay this much money so I could clean someone elses mess. To my surprise the cleaning lady showed up within 15 minutes and cleaned. They also refunded my cleaning fee. After thie initial problem the rest of the stay was great."

This was our first time renting and hd a great experience. We enjoyed our stay and all the amenities this condo offered. The only issue we had was the condo was under construction right outside the balcony and we had workers working all day everyday making lots of noise. Overall everything else was better than we expected"

My only suggestion would be to update the colors and decorations. I had children and had to put way several flower arrangements and breakables. The master bedroom closet wasn't big enough. Otherwise, great experience!"

"Great Late Summer Vacation
The layout, furnishings, overall appearance and maintenance was very good. The few small issues we had were: A kitchen sink faucet handle that broke on the next to last day; wireless router that never worked which limited the quality of internet connection (big issue because I'm a pilot and needed it to maintain a watch on the weather and file a flight plan). I also saw a large roach the morning of our departure in the kitchen bar area. I realize insects are a big problem in FL, but that's not something you want to see !! Overall I feel those are issues very easy to overcome and we'd stay there again."

"Wonderful stay at the Surf Dweller 502
Enjoyed our time at this unit very much, would love to come back sometime. The view was fantastic, loved the beach and the water. The movie rental was a nice amenity as were the Dolphin cruises. The only thing lacking was a way to recycle cans and bottles. We ended up carrying them all the way home in our car to Wisconsin. This is a beautiful unit and it was a very comfortable, relaxing stay. "

"Three generation retreat
We loved our stay at SD 502 for four nights. The unit was large enough for 6 adults to spread out and not feel crowded. The kitchen was better equipped than most home kitchens. The view from the balcony was wonderful and it was on the beach. I would recommend this unit to anyone with three or more people in their party. "

"Fabulous vacation!
Our family just stayed spring break 2012 at the Surf Dweller and the best words to sum up our stay...wonderful and fabulous! The condo was so nice and comfortabk. The kitchen was furnished GREAT! We could cook or prepare everything! Such a treat to be able to cook and have what you need! The beds and furnishings were great too! Love the new TV's and beds and kitchen!This condo has beach on one side and the pool and tennis courts on other side....great for small grandchildren to go to both with no traffic or long distance. We would definitely recommend this unit and condo! We hope to return very soon! LOVE IT! "

As usual Brooks and shorey did a great job on our rental and took care of all the details, so we were very surprised to get to our unit and find that it was not up to the usual top notch condition that we had grown used to, some of the glass tables had a film on them,there was dust over many items, specially in the utility room. A dirty bra down besides the washer. And the kitchen had a lot of grease all over the cabinets,appliances,and the range hood, numerous bulbs burned out thruout the unit, spots on the carpet, mainly in the bedroom, and spills on the tile floor. We cleaned up many of these items ourselfs, so we knew that they would come up. We hope that this is an isolated incident. We would respectfully suggest that you have a conversation with your cleaning staff, thank you"

I really loved the condo. My two daughters joined me mid week and they were impressed with how neat and clean everything is. Everything was just right, except I could not get the tv and cd player to work sometimes. But then I am older and not good with electronics.

"Disappointed
I stayed at Surfdweller and rented thru Brooks and Shorey on the recommendation of my siste- she stayed there a few years back. She was with me on this trio and was very disappointed as well. The unit was not clean- I had to wipe everything down and disinfect before I felt we could really settle in. The beds in this unit are a joke! they are old and extremely uncomfortable- this place definately not worth the money. Not sure who contracts out the umbrella and chair guy but he was very rude to us and less than helpful. My five year old accidently locked one of the bathroom doors and shut it, my wallet, medicine etc were all locked in there with no way to retrieve it. I called the office at about 3:00 pm on that Saturday and was told that nobody from maintenance could come and unlock it until after 8:30 the next day!! Thankfully we managed to to get it open ourselves but this is simply unnacceptable. I normally stay in Gulf Shores and rent condos that are much cleaner and with much better service for less money. I won't be staying with you again."

The Surf Dweller is a great property, however number 502 was not so great. The beds were extremely hard. I had to go get 2 foam toppers in order to sleep. There were too many breakable decorations for my kids to get into. The good things were that, every cooking item you would ever need was there as well as many movies and games. I love Brooks and Shorey and will recommend them and use them again, but not this unit."
