"Another fabulous stay!
This was our 4th stay at Gulf Dunes and our first stay in #514. We loved it! The 2 bathrooms/2 showers are a great bonus and having a washer/dryer is always appreciated! I liked the many places to hang up towels! It had everything we needed and we liked it so much, we booked for next year! Thank you for another fantastic stay!"

"Exactly what we were looking for!
This condo has everything you could need for a beach trip! If you like to cook instead of going out everynight it has all the utensels, pans and bowls you could need. Not just a spatula, 1 knife and a large spoon. Plenty of towels and wash cloths. The two free beach chairs are just amazing to have. All you have to do is pack a cooler and sunscreen and go. Let me say the the pictures of the view are why we chose this condo and they do not do it justice! You can sit on that private balcony and just stare at it forever. They customer service is amazing as well. We made a complete "duh" move after checking out and Jessica and MaryAnn were nothing less than amazing when helping us out! We highly recommend this company and condo! "

"Wi-fi was out for a few days
Biggest issue was that the wi-fi was out for several days but TV still worked...good thing we had unlimited data!
Condo overall was good although not stocked with items most others are such as salt and pepper....we were prepared as emails notified of this. However, it would have been better if we did t have to drag these items along on vacation! Location was amazing! Condo was cleaner than others we’ve stayed at and that was important. Everything was as expected. Good value for the price for spring break."

"Christmas at the beach!
Wonderful rental unit. Had everything we needed. Adequately stocked kitchen. Loved the balcony furniture. We spend the vast majority of our time on the balcony, so having quality furnishings is a big deal to us.
The agency communication was excellent. We will definitely rent from Brooks and Shorey again."

"Beautiful balcony view of ocean and beach!
The view is amazing to wake up to every morning. We loved that the condo provides free chair and umbrella service. We never had a problem getting one, even in the afternoon. The condo itself was probably the cleanest one we have ever stayed in. The condo entry and bedroom are right by the elevator so it was very convenient. Much to my surprise however, we never heard it at night while sleeping. The couch is not very comfortable to relax on after a hard day at the beach (haha) but it works. Check in was ready by 4 and checkout was easy through the app. We didn't have any issues while we were there, with the exception of the wifi being cutoff the night before we checked out. That might be an issue if you have kids using a lot of screen time. We ate several times at the Boardwalk. The Crab Trap and Floyd's were good. Old Bay Steamers (just down the street) was our favorite. Make sure you get the crab stuffed mushrooms! They have excellent service. We also went to the Air Force Museum, it really makes you appreciate (even more)the jets flying over daily. We never tired of seeing that! We would definitely recommend this condo and Brooks and Shorey."

"Condo for Two Adults
Great location, friendly service, clean complex and condo. The extra full bathroom is a definite benefit. The beachfront view from the fifth floor is amazing. Distance from pool is nice as well - far enough away that pool activities aren’t a noise issue. We would rent this unit again. One suggestion (that many other reviewers also had) - add blackout curtains in the bedroom. "

Absolutely ❤️ Booking with Brooks and Shorey! They have so many great rentals! We were floored when we rented unit 514! This is the best rental for a 1 bedroom we have had in 6 years of renting at Okaloosa Island! Clearly the owners understand what people want in a rental. Great location, well stocked kitchen, great outdoor furniture and comfortable living area! You can’t go wrong with this unit ! "

"Anniversary Celebration
Our unit was exactly or maybe better than the pictures. Very clean, quiet, nicely updated, well equipped kitchen and location was great! Within walking distance of several restaurants and fishing pier. The only thing that could have made it better would be some blackout curtains in the bedroom due to the light located outside of the bedroom window. We would definitely rent this unit again!!"

"514 Gulf Dunes Great location
The view was wonderful and overall, a great experience!
However, I must be too fussy about cleanliness. I refused to clean everything I wanted to since we had to pay for cleaning. There was mold around both shower drains and the base of the toilets were not clean. We stayed a month and so I did vacuum and mop several times. The first time I mopped, there was large wads of long black hair on the tile. If this were my unit, I would have a discussion with whomever I pay to clean about these things. The unit was remodeled nicely and it worked out well for us. The sofa pullout was very uncomfortable, but was only used a few times."

"Our new go-to condo!
Wow! Best all around word to describe it! Our stay was absolutely perfect! The condo was clean and well stocked with all of the essentials. The cozy decor and updated bathrooms with walk in showers were so nice. The balcony had a gorgeous view of the ocean, and was clean with plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy! Also, the Brooks and Shorey staff....I can’t say enough great things about them. I will continue to book all of my vacations thru them from here in out. They really do treat you just like family. Not just another dollar on the books. "

Everything was fantastic. Unit was well stocked. Suggested items to bring include hand soap, coffee and filters, extra paper towels, extra laundry detergent, extra dishwasher detergent, possibly extra toilet paper, a few more hangers, normal toiletries and a cooler for the beach. My daughter was also looking for an extra blanket. Everything else you could possibly need is provided."

"Perfect except for the smoking
We loved our condo! Everything was perfect-wonderfully clean, made-to-order view and accessibility to the beach, great location, I even considered reserving this same condo for next year-I cannot imagine anything better.. except.... the smoking. I did not realize smoking was allowed in the units. So, the smell of the smoke from others possibly smoking on their balconies kept us inside lots of times when we would rather have been sitting outside."

"Great Vacation, Great Experience!
This is our 2nd stay at Gulf Dunes, renting from Brooks and Shorey. Last year we came with our adults kids and had a beautiful 3-bedroom, 3 bath, which was just perfect. This summer, we took advantage of the returning guest discount and had a nice week with just the two of us. The condo was very nice, clean and had a bonus (in our mind!) of being a one bedroom, but 2 full baths! All was very clean, well-maintained, plenty of amenities and a great location to the pier and short (and beautiful) drive to Destin. Also loved that there were books available - I also left the one that I finished for future guests.
We did not have any issues with our stay, but from our first call, through the booking process and and actual stay, the staff at B&S were so very nice!
I definitely recommend staying on Okaloosa Island, at Gulf Dunes and renting with Brooks and Shorey!"

We stayed in Gulf Dunes #514 and were extremely pleased with the unit and complex. We have stayed at Gulf Dunes in the past because we are familiar with the location and love the area. This unit was one of the best we have ever stayed in. It was well equipped and definitely updated and clean. We would certainly request this unit on a return stay. Marianne was very friendly and helpful in finding us the unit. Having 2 full bathrooms was a plus for a 1-BD unit. Perfect weather the entire week and wonderful accommodations."

"Everything we needed!
Very clean and had everything we needed. Comfortable beds, great view, and quiet even though the condo was right by the elevator. Barely heard anything with the exception of carts every so often from guests checking in/out. The only issue we had that is very minor was that there isn’t a stool in the showers to prop your leg up for cleaning or shaving for the ladies. The amenities were absolutely great and there is so many that we didn’t have time to take advantage of them all so there’s a reason to come back. Highly recommend this very cozy place. "

"Wonderful Family Vacation
My family of 4 enjoyed our stay in Gulf Dunes Unit #514 so much that I have no doubt we will return! Maryann and staff were incredible from booking to check-out!! The location was perfect for us, easy access to all Okaloosa Island has to offer and right down the road from Destin and its’ attractions but without the traffic/crowd! We loved the condo itself, very nice and clean with everything we needed. The XPlorie amenities were an excellent perk! We utilized the free movies, took a dolphin cruise and my husband enjoyed a free round of golf one morning! If I had to mention anything it would be that the outlets didn’t seem to have adequate power, took forever to charge our phones. A great addition to the living room would be a throw blanket also�� We truly enjoyed our beach vacation and you just can’t beat that balcony view, have missed having my coffee with the sunrise since being back home. "

This was our first time staying in Ft Walton and we loved it. The condo was up to date and very clean. It was perfect for our size family. The only complaint was we were contacted one week prior to our visit that maintenance would be sanding and painting our rail and we may not have access to it. I feel this could of been scheduled differently where the condo was not available during the times while they were doing the painting. Block off those condos for the week so no one’s vacation would be interrupted. Other than that, check in and out was a breeze. Our family loved it! "

"Beautifully Decorated Clean Condo
We arrived to a very clean and well appointed condo with everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. The staff members at Brooks & Shorey were professional and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed staying at a much less crowded condo complex than what we normally stay at. No more Destin highrises for us. We'll stick with Gulf Dunes! The only negative thing I can say is that the condo mgmt. company (which is not Brooks & Shorey) should consider implementing a no smoking policy for the balcony areas. We weren't able to enjoy our balcony and our beautiful Gulf view due to the inconsiderate chain smokers that were smoking on their balconies all around us. Totally disgusting but not something that Brooks & Shorey has control over."

"Vacation with the kiddos
We had a wonderful vacation and did lots of activities while in Okaloosa Island. Our condo at Gulf Dunes completely met our expectations and was bright and cheerful and very clean, which is a big deal for us! I would recommend it to anyone! "Give it a try
The condo was extremely clean and well maintained. The unit itself is located directly across from the elevators which is good and was nice to be able to get right on the elevator, but it could be a little noisy at night and in the morning. The pool is a little small for the size condo but there are two so it was fine. The rental company was excellent. Our son left his prized stuffed animal behind in the condo and they found it and overnighted it back to us. My son couldn't be more thrilled!"

Thia was our third vacation on Okaloosa Island and our third condo rental. We haven't been disappointed yet, and this was a great condo for us. It was more room than we needed for just a couple, and would be fantastic for a family. The bathrooms were clean, attractive, and well appointed. Everything we need was in the kitchen, and the master bedroom was quiet and comfortable. It was nice to have internet and a good selection of TV channels, although we spent most of our time enjoying the view on the balcony. I would highly recommend this condo as a great value, and would be perfect for a family. There was ample parking and ammenities at the facility. "

"Cleanest Rental I've Ever Stayed In !!
I have to admit I am very particular about the rentals I stay in. I search for a long time and read every review before committing to a stay.This by far is the cleanest beach condo I've ever been in.I Don't know how it was possible to not have any sand in this place but there was none, anywhere, and I worked very hard to keep it this way during our stay.Unit was very well decorated and stocked. The only thing that could have made this stay any better is if the unit had come with a cook �� It was perfect!!!"

We loved our condo. It was exactly as described. We loved the location directly on the beach. It was our first time to the area and it was fantastic. Upon arrival, we were told the dishwasher was broken. That was not an issue at all for us. The management person was very apologetic. I would recommend this to my friends. We plan on returning!"

"Great Condo
We stayed at this condo for my son's first vacation. It was just perfect for us. The updates were very nice, and the bed was very comfortable. The only advice I would give is if you have little ones that require a tub bath, know that this condo only has two stand-up showers. We did not think of this and had a difficult time with our 11 month old. We would definitely plan to visit again. "

"Not Happy!
We were very upset about the condition of the bed . The mattress was horrible!!! Low to the ground and the worst mattress I ever slept on!!! I feel when you pay the kind of money we paid the owners could at least invest in a good mattress and nice bedding. The location was great ! Needless to say I wouldn't stay in that unit again!"

"A relaxing time had by all
Great stay, We loved the condo and how close it was to the boardwalk and the pier. The pools were busy at times but the closeness of the beach made it all ok. "Beautiful inside but not outside
We loved the condo. It was very nice!
The pool was extremely small,especially for a sold out week. Pool was full several day and ther's probably 12 chairs at the pool for 100 people! It also doesn't have a hot tub ,they don't advertise that they do,but come on Holliday inn has a hot tub-the lady I talked to was super sweet ,Candice. When I got there the lady behind the glass was extremely rude.i was asking her about everything because we had never stayed there,and I simply asked about the pool and hot tub .she said WE DON'T HAVE A HOT TUB AND WE DIDN'T TELL YOU THATWE DID. So I'm guessing that's a common complaint
With all that said the condo. And the beach are nice."

Brooks & Shorey are always professional and helpful and make the vacation a happy experience. The Gulf Dunes is an o.K. property that needs TLC in upkeep. Apt. 514 needs some updating in the linens and mattresses, stocking the kitchen a little better, fixing the screen door to the terrace. All in all we love Ft. Walton Beach and the condo was secondary to the location."

"Great vacation, perfect location!
Condo was great, beach was perfect! The only negative was the quality of the bedding. The king bed was okay but the twin mattresses on the bunk beds are horrible. Not even really a mattresses. Just a very thin (2 or 3 inch) pad. They have wooden cross supports that make it impossible to sleep comfortably. We fought each day over who would have to sleep on them the following night. Pull out is not great either, but better than bunks. All other accommodations were great. "

We enjoyed our vacation very much. Gulf Dunes was a very quiet area. Located within a few steps from a beautiful beach and just minutes to some wonderful restaurants. We enjoyed the balcony that looked out over the gulf. We saw numerous dolphins every day playing in the water.The condo was clean for the most part, there was a few basic dishes,toaster,blender and few pieces of silverwares. There was not any basic items like laundry soap, salt pepper, paper towels,toilet tissue. we had to go and purchase these items. the last condo we rented has the start to all basic items and made the inital day much smoother for everyone. There was plenty towels(bring your own beach). Overall I would stay there again, but i felt like it was a bit over priced for week in October. "

"Gulf Dunes- Fort Walton Beach-Sept. 2011
We have stayed in several units in Gulf Dunes and have always been satisfied. The unit was clean enough but I think it could use some updating of furniture,bedding,and kitchen. It is starting to show wear and I think if you want to keep getting good rentals these things need looked into. Also, another suggestion is for the units to have beach towels so that people who fly in don't have to pack those. I have stayed at several places around the states and most of them provide beach towels. Also, trial size detergent and dish soap would be appreciated since we have to make sure laundry and dishes are clean. Overall, our stay was great since we know the area so well. Can't ask for better beaches!"

The mattress in the unit was AWFUL. The kitchen was not the best equiped...OK, but not great. Other than that, everything was great. On the last night we were there, there was really a lot of noise during the "quiet time"...where was security? All in all, I would stay here again."

My husband and I stayed the week in 514. The condo was clean and comfortable. We had not been to Ft. Walton in about 8 years, and we will be back next year. Also, we used the voucher for Captain Kid's it was wonderful. Great idea. "

"The Perfect Vacation's
We had a very enjoyable vacation this past year and have already booked again for 2008. Brooks & Shorey make it so very easy to find the perfect resort for our vacation. I lived in Ft. Walton as a teenager as my father was in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Eglin AFB. I have brought my children to Ft. Walton almost every year for our summer vacations together. My children now bring their family's to the best beaches in Florida.
We always have a fun time. You don't have to go very far for great places to eat or shop. We love to sit on the patio of our room and watch the beautiful sunsets and the blue waters and white sands.We can't wait for our next visit to the Greatest Vacation Place in Florida. "

"I was disappointed in the fitness facility. I get up early to do my morning workout. The fitness facility was not open on time. One morning it was 10:00 before I reached anyone to ask about opening the facility.
The condo was nice, however, I thought the bedroom would have access to the balcony. I was disappointed with the bedroom location. "
