"2nd time there nice remodel
Loved our stay each time we have stayed in this unit. Surprised by the lovely remodel since last spring. Very clean, comfortable quiet.. and we will be back. Location is good for easy access to beach and all things Destin or westward. Pelican Isle management needs to get both elevators working for the last 3 times we stayed only 1 worked. This time the one got stuck early in our Vista was repaired and as we left my son in law was stuck in elevator at 5:45 am. 911 brought the fire dept and using stairs we loaded and left.
Must say unit is great and if elevators are working we will be back again real soon. Brooks n Shorey is awesome and have taken care of us for several years now."

The unit itself was very nice and had a beautiful view of the beach and beach access. We were not able to get into our condo until after 5:15. This has been the case the last several years that we have rented through Brooks & Shorey. There was no dishcloth/towels, pot holders/oven mitts, or dishwashing starter soap even though you are expected to run the load of dirty dishes prior to checkout. There was a blood stain on the bedsheets the size of a quarter so not sure if the sheets were clean or stained but regardless it made us feel like they were not cleaned well. Also recommend adding a cutting board, some type of grilling utensils, and an additional small skillet as there was only one. Otherwise, everything was well stocked and worked as it should. "

"Comfortable condo for a clean freak
Must say one of the best as far as cleanliness, furnishings for unit 311 and th entire complex was well kept. I did not have to sanitize anything. We ve been coming several times a yr over last 15 yrs and will be back to this unit again. Compliments to the owner who has the unit tastefully decorated and stocked with good quality linens, towels, and kitchen items. The parking with this unit was a plus. These 2 seniors, our" kids" and our 12 yr old great gson loved every minute there. Elizabeth at Brookes n Shorey has been so helpful during our last several stays in the area. ��"

"Nearly perfect
This is one of my favorite units. It's clean, quiet and has almost everything you'd expect.
I have stayed here twice in one season however, and the door code did not change. This is a pretty big security issue to me. Also on my latest visit, they did not leave dish towels and pot holders as they usually do.
Not necessarily specific to this unit but to all units in this building, they need blackout curtains on the bedroom window. The sun will blast you in the morning. (at least you'll be up early enough to reserve a chair on the beach. Seriously. Do that.)
The dishwasher also needs attention.
Other than that, I recommend it."

Great location on the beach. Beautiful view. The beds were awful. So hard that we couldn’t sleep. While the side chairs are cute, they are very uncomfortable. We sat in the couch but if you have more than 2 people it would be uncomfortable. The screen door was off the track. The ice maker quit working but they came as soon as notified.
Anytime at the beach is a great time & overall we were happy. "

"Peaceful week
My daughter and I stayed in this lovely condo the week of Thanksgiving. The condo was well appointed, cutely decorated, and met all of our needs. The only suggestion I can make is perhaps firmer pillows (or bring your own) I woke up with a crick in my neck every morning. The beach is beautiful, and I woke up every morning a jogged the west end of the island. The complex wasn’t very crowded since it was off-season but I doubt I would want to stay there during peak season as there is a lot of noise coming from the pool area, etc. Overall we had a lovely stay and would stay at this particular complex/condo again."

"NIce Place
We were happy with the condo. It could use a good deep cleaning. When we got there at night, the top bunk had not been changed as there was sand all through it. So we had to do laundry upon arriving. Of course the next day, they offered to have the cleaning crew come back, but that is to little to late at that point. The baseboards in the bathrooms need cleaned as there is hair and dirt all over them. Beyond that, the beach is beautiful and because of us traveling at the end of June there were not many people. It was very relaxing and enjoyable!"

The vacation was wonderful. The condo as perfect for the two of us. Plenty of space and storage. The location is great, lots of restaurants and shopping pretty close. We had a great spring break week at PI 311 and I would definitely recommend the Pelican Isle and specifically Unit 311. I had read other condo reviews about the couch in other units being uncomfortable because it was a pull out. Because unit 311 has a murphy bed, the couch was very comfortable. We did not pull the murphy bed down to give it a try.
Although we didn't do much cooking, because we enjoy going out to dinner for seafood while in Florida, the kitchen had everything we needed. The freezer produced plenty of ice to keep our drinks cold and fill small coolers for the beach without having to buy ice.
The condo worked well for our family of 3. The top bunk is pretty tight, but our 14 year old son slept up there, because the tv in the bottom bunk wasn't working. I did not call to get it fixed, because with the top bunk working as well as the TV's in the master bedroom and living room, that was plenty.
I had read in the reviews or in the ad that there were sand toys under the bunk bed, but the only things there were a couple beach chairs that we didn't use. I am not sure what happened to the sand toys, but we would have packed some if we would have known. We did have friends staying in other units, so instead he just used their sand toys to build a sand castle.
We did go on the Sea Blaster Dolphin cruise with all the other families in our group. We had a lot of fun, but you should know that it is free wine and beer the whole time, so more of a booze cruise than a dolphin cruise. But we did see some dolphins. We were also able to spot dolphins from the beach and the deck. You should pack binoculars to use, because it is fun to look out onto the beach and water.

"February Escape
We decided at the last minute to drive down to the Destin/Ft. Walton area to get away for a few days. We inquired about a property and within minutes we had a follow up phone call wanting to know if we had any questions. When we described what we were looking for the Manager suggested a different property which was better suited to our needs. They followed up with us on all of our questions and were very easy to work with. The property was outstanding and better than expected. Very clean and no surprises. The condo was immaculate and very close to restaurants, shopping, etc.

I just want to make a comment on the cleanliness, or lack there of, regarding the condo. There was mold growing in the shower stall, obvious mold, and quite disgusting. It was better in the master tub, however, on the door track, in the middle hadn't been cleaned in some time. Additionally, there is crud in the bed frame between the frame and the box spring. Getting rid of that bed frame would eliminate that problem and give about another foot of room to the master bedroom. It is pretty tight in there. "

My family of 3 really enjoyed our stay in 311. It was super clean, completely stocked with linens, had a roomy washer/dryer, nice, modern appliances, like new furniture and an amazing view. It may be their normal practice but we were very grateful to get in the room earlier than scheduled due to Hurricane Nate. The pool was actually larger than it appeared in the pics. "

"Not a good start to my birthday vacation.....
Did not start off as well as we expected. Room was not ready until 6:00. There were NO carts available, people keep them in their rooms, and only ONE elevator working. Once we arrived and were able to get in the room it was ok. I am handicapped and was not able to take the stairs, therefore our wait on the upper floors was stifling waiting in the area by the elevator. "

Had a wonderful week at Pelican Isle! Accommodation was perfect for our family. Grandchildren loved having their own tv at each bunk. Room was very well supplied and owner's idea of " paying it forward" added a special touch. Only issue we had was when we returned from dinner one evening someone had parked in the parking space reserved for our room and no one "after hours" was available/nor returned our call. Disappointed in the lack of response from an otherwise very attentive staff. "

They only thing that would make it better is to not allow smoking anywhere in the building including the balconies. We love this unit, but unfortunately mother nature didn't want to co-operate.
Hurricane Patricia stirred up the algae in the gulf, causing a condition called red tide. It caused a lot of discomfort to most visitors, besides killing a lot of fish. This was no fault of the condo, but it did affect our enjoyment of the week we could have had."

The room was very nice and was well cleaned. It was so nice to have covered parking and all the extras were great! Free movies, rental chairs included, extra chairs and beach toys, all very nice. The beds were very comfortable and our granddaughter loved the bunk bed with her own TV! The view from the balcony was beautiful and other than hearing people at the pool (and that couldn't be helped) it was so nice. The only suggestion I would make is to remove the towel cabinet in the master bathroom and replace it with a shelf over the toilet for towels. "

Our stay in Fort Walton was wonderful! The complex was great, the unit was perfect for us. The bed was very confortable, our kids loved the TVs in their bunks, the Murphy bed worked out really well. We have never been to Destin or Fort Walton in October, so we weren't sure what to expect, but the weather and water were perfect and we were so grateful to have no rain the entire time! Plus this time of year, the crowds were not bad at all. Loved our stay and we would definitely stay here again!!"

This was a wonderful vacation for my family and I. We had such a great time relaxing in this beautiful condo. Barbara was very nice! We loved watching the dolphins every morning while drinking coffee on the balcony. A.J.'s and McGuires, in Destin has the best food around. Took a pontoon boat to Crab Island on the last day and had a blast! So much fun! Only complaint-The murphy bed's sheets had not been changed when we got there. The upgraded kitchen was very nice with granite countertops! My kids were so sad when we had to leave.:( Thank you for the memories! We will be back!!!

I really appreciated being able to check in to our room on time this year. "GREAT PLACE TO VACATION
We have for a long time vacationed on the east coast, often Hilton Head, but find the Fort Walton/Destin area to be absolutely wonderful. We have stayed at other properties on Santa Rosa Blvd but prefer Pelican Isle. You can't beat the view of the ocean and the accomodations. The staff on site was very professional and helpful. We are returning again for two weeks in April 2013. "

We like the location of the property and the size of the complex. This is the second year we rented this unit. The sofa and the king bed seem to be getting quite soft and aren't very comfortable. The noise in the hall from children running around late at night was more disturbing this year. Other than that we enjoyed our stay very much."

"Lovely Condo on the Beach
We enjoyed our week long stay in this quiet part of Fort Walton Beach, right on the Gulf. This unit is clean, nicely decorated, and has a beautiful, well appointed kitchen that allowed us to cook many meals in, so we could avoid all the tourist-trap restaurants in the area. The included "beach service" is a plus. A minor annoyance is the noise from the pool, which is directly below this unit. Everything else is "First Cabin". We would definitely rent this unit again, and would consider other units in Pelican Isle if necessary."

"Love the location & amenities!
Our birthday gift to our adult daughters every year is a getaway from their everyday life with family & careers. So me & my daughters love to go to the beach, shop, eat & relax. I'm going to list a few things, but by no means did any of these things keep us from having a wonderful time.
1.Due to a few storms out in the gulf, the water wasn't as pretty and blue as it usually is and one day the sand flies or something were awful & kept biting.
2. The rental was very comfortable & roomy. We did notice that when we were making up the Murphy bed the pillows had hair on them which you really don't want to see. Also, the hair dryer one on the wall in the master bedroom was unplugged & when we plugged it in to use it it did not work. That wasn't a problem because two of us had brought our own hair dryers.
3. We were never certain if the door was locked, so one of us would have to go outside while the other locked or unlocked so we would know which way to turn it. It would have been nice to have a security chain or something.
Other than these few things our trip was great and we do plan to return next year. "

You really could not ask for a better place to stay. Clean, staff was friendly, views outstanding. Our children (9 and 8) loved the bunks with televisions after playing all day. "Nice, But...
Once we arrived, I felt a bit misled by the website. First, there was a range of prices but no itemized daily price, just the total dollar amount due for the number of days spent. The add on fees, additional insurance that is highly recommended/required, in addition to the local taxes was excessive. The final price was more than twice the lowest quoted prices for the condo. Secondly when I inquired about the location of the condo in relation to exposure to noise from the pool I was told being on the 3rd floor would put me far above the pool noise, which was not the case. Also, the master bedroom did not have a view of the Gulf (as implied), but was directly next to the entrance door, leading to an all access hallway, where all guests on the floor must pass & was very noisy with other guest constantly walking by. Finally, there were no directions on how to connect to the wifi network (had to wait till next day when staff arrived) and the complimentary beach chairs/umbrellas were collected early, so we could not enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the beach in the evening with our chairs. For the amount of money spent, I did not feel I got the overall experience that was sold. Great view of the beach from the balcony, but I will not spend my next Gulf vacation at this property."

"Room fine but building needs updating/maintainenance
The overall property (building) seemed a little run down - chairs and rugs in the entrances needed replacing and the landscaping needed some attention. Someone left something in the pool one day which rendered it unusable for 2 days. The unit was clean but does not come with any kitchen soap, only 2 trash bags (for a six night stay), no paper towels. There were adequate kitchen cooking utensils and pans. Unfortunately the freezer only made about 2 trays of ice so we were constantly running out for bags of ice. There is only 3 places to sit in the living room since the murphy bed takes up most of one wall and you cannot put anything in front of it - unless you want to sit in the dining room table chairs. Overall it was satisfactory but it so small it is only comfortable for 4 guests. I think the management company could do several upgrades in the lobby and grounds area that would make the condos more attractive from the entrance."

"Great access to the beach
This unit is nicely furnished and the location and access to the beach was wonderful. The beach service was added bonus. However the elevator was broken part of the time we were there and the property had a wierd smell. The unit was clean and updated but I had a hard time getting past the musty, fishy smell. "

I understand that tenants usually provide a bulk of the disposables, however, no salt/pepper, no coffee filters, no paper towels. the only thing in the unit was toilet paper. So what happens to the left overs that are left behind? Just curious. never had
that problem before in a condo rental."

Would definately recommend FWB area and Pelican Isle for a family environment. Good soundproofing in the condos, only outside noise was from the common outside entry walkways/elevator area. Great views of the beach & easy walk over access from Pelican
Isle Condos, average pool if you are interested in that. Fully furnished kitchen was nice-free wi-fi, dvd player in all tv's (#4 total), and Washer/Dryer a plus! We WILL COME AGAIN!"

the only reason why the manager got a 4 was because the hours are a little inconvenient. Check-in process in very time limited. Since we never saw anyone in charge of monitoring at night, people were always in the pool way past the closing time, creating a lot of noise when we just wanted to sit on the balcony to relax and hear the waves. Otherwise our condo was perfect for our needs. The owners thought of all the extras we might need."

We loved this unit. Everything was beautiful and in working order. It makes a difference when the owner takes the time to dot all the I's and cross all the T's. All the extra's (tv's in the bunks, murphy bed etc.) makes this unit stand out. We will definitely be coming back and will definitely be requesting this unit.

Didn't know what to expect since we've never really done FL before (other than Disney). We liked the kitchen upgrades in the condo and everything had a nice well-taken-of feel. The condo was not oversold, but we did think there would be alittle more space since it accomodates 6 and we had 5. Two bedrms. might have been better for our group. Once we stayed organized, it was fine though. Our only complaint was our reception at the front desk. We were excited to be there and were looking for some gen'l info. only to receive one word answers to most questions from the front desk. Not a nice original feeling and two diff. people from our party walked away saying the same thing at diff. times. Maybe we're too spoiled w/ Mexico and their extreme hospitality though. Thanks for an overall nice getaway! The attendants on the beach and chairs were great and much enjoyed! "

This was our first time at okalossa island! Pelican isles was great!! Our condo was ina great location and it was very nice!! The staff was alwways very nice and helpful!! The beach staff was very helpful as well!! I would def stay here again!! The other great thing is the beach was not very crowd and it was very clean!! "

I did not like having to give a $300 damage deposit, I feel like that should have been done when I made the reservations. The only credit card I had was my debit card, therefore that's why, I do not like leaving a copy of my debit card around. The beach service each day was really nice, wished the pool was larger or there were two pools, but we enjoyed our stay. Forget to ask about checking out before the receptionist arrived and had to call the emergency number the night before, they were very quick in responding to my phone call."
