"Beach Villa
Everyone was very nice and helpful. You take a short ferry boat ride to the island then rent a golf cart to roam around the island. The private beaches and pool house were very clean and well maintained. "

This was our 3rd trip in 10 years. It was fantastic that Red Beard is still there, it's nostalgic for us and the kids."

"Palm Island First Timer
Our first visit to Palm Island, and a pleasant one at that!

The island property is isolated, and with no car traffic, or general public hustle-n-bustle really has the feel of an island paradise.

The Gulf view was awesome and the beaches very quiet with only island residents and resort guests.

Some of the best 'shelling' we've experienced, and sights of dolphins and manatees without the expense of a chartered tour.

The property was well maintained and our unit was well outfitted with cooking utensils.

Tennis courts are readily available, and water activities can be easily coordinated with Guest Services.

Housekeeping did a wonderful job preparing for our arrival!

To top it off, the Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne Hospitality and Tourism Management interns were very professional and provide a touch of Hoosier hospitality to the island.

Overall, we are very satisfied with our vacation stay at Palm Island. It should be noted that when making travel arrangements, one should be aware that the ferry transit does not operate 24/7. Travel arrangements need to coincide with ferry operation. "

"Excellent Island Resort with exception to Rum Bay Restaurant
We have been staying at the Palm Island resort over a dozen times and have really enjoyed it making it our favorite vacation spot. We always try a book a package for the value. This last stay included the diner at Rum Bay and it was the worst experience. The service was terrible and the Management did not have a clue how to manage the restaurant. We didn't receive menus until 5 min because they didn't have enough even though there were at least 12 of them sitting on a suppose reserved table. We ordered our 1 1/2 yr old grandsons meal first and after an hour I asked another server where it was because our server didn't return. We went to the bar to get another drink. My son's steak was way over cooked and when the Manager came by he threw up his hands and seemed unconcerned. The Managers had no idea what was going on in the restaurant. We own several Restaurants for over 17 years and we wouldn't have lasted long if we handled our business like your Managers. Will not recommend Rum Bay to anyone who ask. On a good note, Marty, the reservation clerk is an outstanding and your restaurant staff should be taking lessons from her."

As usual, absolutely perfect! This is our ( two friends & I) third stay in the same unit & it has become a real retreat to us. As soon as we leave we are already looking forward to next year when we will be back. It's perfect in every way!"

"Island Memories
Visiting Palm Island is not just taking a vacation; it is also like returning home if you have been there more than once. It is one of the things that make Palm Island very special -- a sense of identity with the place that creates an emotional attachment. This bond with the sun, sand and sea (and friendly staff) transforms a guest's experience from transient outsider to family member within hours of arrival. We shared this experience this time with several of our own family (brothers and sisters) who quickly asked how did you discover this place? They were enchanted by the car ferry access and the sweeping ocean vistas. We all took a sunset boat ride that lasted an hour. But during that time we saw dolphins playing, a glorious sunset, had a family picnic on the boat, and really enjoyed "Captain Bob's" comments. We all go many places in life that make momentary memories. At Palm Island, the memories are entrenched and lasting snapshots of laughter and life slowed down enough to enjoy. At the airport as we were leaving my sister asked, "when are we coming back to Palm Island"? She caught herself in mid-sentence before we could reply and said, "What I meant is, we are actually taking Palm Island back with us, aren't we"? "I don't ever want to lose that feeling that there is still a place on earth where time is not the enemy, but a friend... and where our vacation and our home become one." "

"The perfect Vacation
Palm Island Resort was in a word "perfect". From the unit we stayed in to the golf carts, the employees, the beach, the water, the restaurants, and all. They have a ferry requiring all to come to the island and shed your car, then get around either by foot, bicycle or golf cart. This makes a huge difference in the feel and ambiance of your entire trip, and adds to the "get away from it all" feeling most are looking for in a vacation. Over all I would rate this vacation as perfect and will recommend Palm Island Resort to everyone. I will be back next year...can't wait!"

"unit 1711
this unit really needs a facelift. the floors were in terible shape and the furniture and decor where in sad condition. we chose this unit because it had 2 king size beds. that part was very nice. we had a large group, rented three units. the other two were beautiful. seemed odd that we were paying the same price as the other 2 bedroom unit when the condition of the two units were not at all comparable. otherwise, we had a fantastic time and I will certainly be returning. this was my third visit."

"Our July Visit.
We have been vacationing at Palm Island for at least 10 years in a row. This unit was similar to some others in that it had a fantastic location. However, the one thing that stood out, and which we have not experienced before (and we have probably stayed at 6 different units) is that it had an extremely comfortable bed and furniture. We will definitely request this unit in the future. The one disappointing aspect of our stay was the Rum Bay restaurant. It seems to go down hill a little more each year. We ordered some take out appetizers and they were awful. In the future we will go off the island to eat at a restaurant. "

"
We have been coming to PI for the last 10 years and although only 40 minutes away it is our family's favorite vacation! We had to look at 4 properties before we found the one that was clean, updated and suitable. The others we viewed were outdated, furniture stained and smelled old and dirty. The store and rental shop seemed much smaller with not as much available. We rented a kayak and the people were not very friendly or helpful. It seemed a bother. Seems like the rental store and upstairs store could use an update. Other than those two incidents, our trip was enjoyable and relaxing. The last place we stayed - unit 1711- was beautiful. I wish they were all like that! PI is a perfect destination. I hope it remains a nice place to visit with affordable rates and friendly people"

"
The only problem we had we that we were locked out of the resort. We had friends staying on the island (not at resort). We went to visit them and returned about 11:30 and were locked out. Had to jump the fence and call security to come unlock it. Wasn't really sure why the gates needed to be locked."

"Great for families!
We've been coming here for vacation for years. Every year we manage to talk someone else into coming with us - nieces and nephews etc. and everyone loves it. It's a place where you can have your own beach - no hi rises, no crowds. The modern, fully-equipped condos are steps from the beach. It's great for kids. No one can get on the island - you have to take a ferry and only authorized guests can get on. There are no cars. So the kids just have the run of the place. Our teenagers had a blast driving golf carts and bikes around and hanging out with a bunch of other kids that they met down there. When they were little we would wake up and they'd be already on the beach. They can walk to the store and restaurant.

There's not a lot to do - so everyone pretty much does healthy active stuff like bicycling, playing tennis, kayaking, walking on the beach, etc.

There's great shelling - it's right next to Sanibel which is supposed to have the best shelling in the world.

All in all a great time."

"Return Visit for Thanksgiving Weekend
Our family has made the long Thanksgiving weekend at Palm Island our new family tradition. We just spent our fifth Thanksgiving there and could not have been happier. The resort is peaceful, friendly, safe and natural. We will be back. Margaret"

"Paradise Found Once Again!
As usual, we had a wonderful time at Palm Island. The unit was clean, in a great location and the weather couldn't have been better. This was our 27th stay (there should be some special promotion for people who visit more than 20 times). The pool, spa and workout center were enjoyed thoroughly. Can't wait to go again!!!!! "

"Unique Coastal Experience
We were recommended to this resort by our son. This is a unique spot. Without a causeway, requiring a short ferry ride, the developers have stayed away. The result is a quiet, non-traffic island beach experience. The beach is phenomenal-deep sands from Condos to water's edge, clean, and relatively clear water for the Gulf. The swimming pool areas are clean and large to serve the guests. The condos are on stilts with screened porches --like stepping back to the way Florida was. There is wildlife along the beaches, good fising at the passes at either end.

No cars makes this a quiet place where kids can roam freely and safely. 2 and 3 BR Condos are well furnished, good size and have outdoor BBQs at the pools. Internet available at the general store and some places with wireless.

There is a restaurant and bar and small store--but you have to plan trips to the local Publix on shore - 5 miles away - to stock up for several days. When you get to the ferry crossing, a ferry comes every 20 or so minutes, drops you on the island where you drive to the resort, park and golf cart to your condo. A golf cart rental is a must.

A wonderful spot to take a family. Without the developers, it is like stepping back in time to Gulf Coast Florida with traditional cottages with max three floors--as compared to the traffic jams and condo towers of Naples, Sanibel, Marco, etc.

This is a terrific spot for a family vacation."

"
Very enjoyable stay. Back porch and back deck of rental unit will need maintenance before too long. Upon leaving the gentleman who was supposed to pick up our luggage was late,(wife had to call), and guy at the coconut who was supposed to be there so we could turn in out golf cart didn't show up that at all(at least while we were there) Minor snafu's however, overall it was great!"
