"Very dated for the price
Chair at table broken while the other has black mold. Bed was horrible. Loved the painting items on the deck that had been there for some time it looked like. Both nights the restaurant didn't have a menu item. Won't be back. Beautiful place for a nice resort. "

"Palm Island Seaside Rendezvous
We recently rented two villas - a three bedroom and a one bedroom. This was to accommodate 9 family members gathered to celebrate a big seven-OH birthday. Both villas were superior, the staff was very friendly as always, and we appreciated the expanded volume of golf carts and bikes. The grounds, pools, and courts added much to the overall vacation."

"Poor, dirty rental
I stayed on Palm Island in early December. The island is great but the rental I stayed in was honestly the worst and dirtiest rental I have ever stayed in. Everything from dirty carpets and curtains to old bed sheets and blankets. The bathroom was grimy and utterly disgusting. I also came home with hundreds of bites on my legs which I suspect are from bedbugs. I paid a good amount of money to stay there and avoided going into the apartment as much as I could. Just awful."

We came to Palm Island 30 years ago on our honeymoon and chose to revisit on our 30th anniversary. Our stay was better than expected!
The staff was very friendly and the beachfront unit we stayed in was perfect. We enjoyed the beach, pool, restaurants and golf cart rental."

"Loved our stay!!!
We LOVED our stay! What a dream to walk into our villa and see a huge balcony to watch the sun set over the water. We spent most of our time in the villa on the balcony. Great amenities, nice layout. We had the option to pay more for an upgraded villa but chose to spend a little less because that doesn't matter to us. It was a little outdated (think cute 80s beach condo) but everything worked and the bed was comfortable! The property was clean but not spotless, didn't feel dirty though. The customer service was excellent and we felt so welcome! We would absolutely come back and would suggest to friends. The island living was such a nice break from city life. The one suggestion is a black out shade for the front door. The light from outside is very bright and a little intense when you wake up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night :)"

"The Best Beach Get-Away
We vacationed at Palm Island Resort over 30 years ago when we lived in Sarasota. Moved out west, now we're back in Venice and wanted to check it out again. Did not disappoint! Basically the same great resort with some improvements. Will be back."

For the price of rental, this one bedroom had too many issues. Unit smelled of fish. Office did come and spray again but it did smell for several days. Furniture very run down. Signs in unit...don’t use pullout sofa and oven burner doesn’t work. Office ran my credit card before arrival. Feel they should have waited for my arrival to verify the card to be used "

"Nice location, neglected condo
setting was lovely, but this condo was so rough that we avoided sitting on most of the furniture. The couch with sleeper sofa is broken and not usable. The resort was fully occupied at this time so there was no other place to move to (understood this) but the property manager never called back or followed up when asked if they would discount our stay"

"Great place to relax
Palm Island Resort is a great place to get away if you want a quiet and beautiful spot. The beach is beautiful and desolate and if you want some activity, go down to Stump Pass and watch the parade of boats coming in and out. Grounds are very well-kept. The on property restaurant is surprisingly good and a good value. The units themselves are a bit dated, but they have what you need and who is there for the room anyway? We have stayed there twice now and will be back for sure. "

"Palm Island
I went here with my wife for 3 nights to celebrate our Anniversary. Overall it was not the best experience. I had requested a pool/ocean view. We only got a partial ocean view. The vanity light in the bathroom was intermittent. I complained and they did send someone but it was not resolved. The living room furniture was very dated. The sofa bed was broken. The patio set was so dirty my wife would not sit on it. She put a white towel down and after one sitting some of the dirt was transferred to the towel. Once again I complained and they sent someone to clean it. He tried his best and did transfer some of the sticky dirt to his cleaning rags but gave up and said they vinyl was worn too badly to continue. He said the company would put in a request to the owner to replace it for the next visitor. It seemed to be a common excuse as all of the units are privately owned and only managed by the resort."

Beautiful view from the lanai. Beautiful and uncrowded beach with warm ocean water. Nice pool and barbecue area. Staff friendly and helpful. Two available restaurants good. Condo was clean. Downsides: Very unpleasant odor in condo which took a couple days to air out. Pillows hugely fluffy with no alternative. Kitchen not well appointed. No remote for DVD. No adequate bulbs for reading in lamps. A good place to wind down, relax, and read, but not much else to do. "

"A very relaxed place to stay
Everyone is very friendly. It is a very relaxing get away. The resort is very kept up and clean. But, once we got to our condo and opened the door, you were hit with a very moldy, musty smell inside. The a/c was turned up to 78 degrees, so on top of the terrible smell it was also stuffy and warm. Last year we stayed at this resort but a different unit and that was perfect! Also, we were told when we arrived that the ferry rides would be $40.00 per ride. (We did get 4 free rides) but when you are staying for 7 days or more, it is too costly. We did not know this when we booked the reservation. We should have been notified prior to our arrival. "

Unit was in need of new furniture, bed mattress was terrible, coffee maker spilled everywhere when pouring and frig dumped ice everywhere except the bucket. Kitchen faucet barely reached sink and made a mess when you turn on the water. Unit was very clean. Patio furniture was old and dirty. Wasn’t a 300.00 unit other than it did have a nice view. "

"Fall Getaway

The unit was dated but clean and well equipped. (Needs some new and matching knives). There were ample supplies, soaps etc and nice to have the washer and dryer. Great view and location near the provision store and restaurant. Golf carts were a real plus. Would be great if the individual units had WIFI. Would definitely stay again. "

"spring break
I just love coming to this island! It has the best beach and amenities. The only downfall is that things are really quiet really early. I'm no party animal but would enjoy using the pool or hot tub past dusk. Great for a group. This was our 2nd trip to the island, this rental had less as far as games, cards, etc. That might be nice to know so you can plan what to bring for entertainment. "

Very nice stay. We were unusual because we were dropped off by boat and picked up by car. The office made the arrangement for the ferry. The only negative which could not be controlled was the red tide which had everyone coughing and left dead fish on the beach. This was happening all down the west coast not just Palm Is. Just nature.

This was our first time at this resort. It was the most relaxing week, the beach is beautiful, the sunsets are extraordinary, the resort staff makes your stay extremely comfortable. My husband and I stayed on Palm island for our anniversary and truly had the best week ever. We opted to rent bicycles instead of a golf cart and had a great time exploring the island! It is a beautiful resort....if you are looking for relaxation look no further this is the place!"

"Amazing!
We had a fantastic time at the resort. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed all of the amenities. My girlfriend has been coming there for 10 years but this was my first time. She was slightly disappointed with our room, saying it was more outdated than some of the others she has stayed in not to mention the entire room along with the furniture smelled like cigerette smoke. Other than that the stay was fantastic. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. "

"Relaxing Getaway
We were pleasantly surprised by our stay on Palm Island as we had never read or heard anything about it when we booked it for 2weeks. It was a beautiful, restful resort between Ft. Myers and Venice near Part Charlotte we enjoyed our beautiful condo, the shell-laden beach, the fitness center, and the activities that were available. Had a great time kayaking the mangrove trail with Kris who was very knowledgeable about the history, animals and the ecosystem of this true barrier island. We will be back!"

"Wonderful mid-September visit
We have been coming to Palm Island for almost 25 years, but had never visited during September until this year. We were on the island for five days and it was wonderfully quiet and relaxing. The beach is never crowded, but during our stay we enjoyed having it almost completely to ourselves on weekdays. The weather was great, with only the expected amount of rain, and mostly gorgeous sunny days with highs in the eighties. The property we rented for this stay was up to the usual high standards we expect when we stay at Palm Island, and the staff were friendly and helpful, again, as always. We love visiting Palm Island and will be back again!"

"Palm Island is the best!
Palm Island is the perfect getaway! Everyone is so nice, welcoming and helpful. The resort property is beautiful, great activities available, beach unbeatable. Rum Bay Restaurant is consistently good, and very reasonably priced. We have been to Palm Island Resort multiple times and always have a wonderful time. The only reason we are not giving our stay this time all '5 stars' is that the 1-bedroom unit we were in is just 'worn out'. It is looking shabby, especially the bathroom. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall, the plates on the knobs of the sink, tub/shower all fell off, the sink faucet was almost impossible to pull up/on. The bathroom just has a very dated, worn out look to it. The bed mattress sags in the middle. The unit just 'needs a facelift'. That said, everything was certainly clean, but the shabbiness in the bathroom made it feel 'kinda gross'. We had a great time, despite these few things!! We highly recommend Palm Island Resort!!!"

"Less than ideal start to a great vacation
We’ve been to Palm Island Resort several times before this visit and always enjoyed our stay. This visit represents a first for us as we’re staying a full two weeks. When we arrived in our unit on Saturday, we felt the accommodations were adequate, but definitely in need of some attention. The wallpaper was peeling in a few places, the carpet was a bit worn and the furnishings were showing their age … or at least noticeable wear. Over the next 24 hours though, our initial impressions went from dubious to worse as what was initially noticed as a faint odor seemed to grow to the point that we decided something had to be done, or our two-week vacation was going to be spoiled by this development. We called the resort office and explained our concerns, expressing our desire to have the carpet cleaned. Instead, the office offered to move us to a different unit. We eventually agreed, and, within a couple of hours, had re-packed everything and moved a few buildings down the road, with the help of one of the resort’s very helpful bellmen. The unit we are now in is far and away better than the previous unit. The carpets are clean and in great shape as are the furnishings. Most importantly … no more bad odor. In fact everything smelled fresh and clean. So, moral of the story is that each of these units is privately owned and, unless you have first-hand experience, or a trusted recommendation, the quality of the unit you get is a hit-or-miss situation. Thankfully, the resort management seems very willing to accommodate reasonable requests and have certainly satisfied us!

"Looking tired and dated!
This was my 4th visit to Palm Island Resort. I tried to book a 'superior' beach villa but could only get 'deluxe'. It was not well-named! The décor of kitchen and bathroom was still from 1980's and wallpaper was peeling. We complained and they just said they would tell the owners. Also resort staff gave no assistance with sourcing local activities 'Here's a list - go call them yourself.' was what the Recreation Manager said when we asked her about boat trips, fishing, restaurants - everything! Apart from that the resort was just as quiet and beautiful as we remembered with just as many shells, birds and flowers."

"Rental Review
I understood the rating of the units when we were booking. I would have expected that the units be clean. Ours was for the most part. However the carpet was stained badly in the bedroom and and several areas in the living room. If the unit at least had the carpet deep cleaned perhaps I would recommend this property. Also did not understand house cleaning. Don't know of any place that would make you call for bath towels and have them left outside. Other then those two items the island was great and very relaxing. Many walks on the beach in the morning and at sunset."

"A quiet retreat, wonderful experience.
If you are looking for some quiet time with the family this is the perfect spot. No stress, no crowds just pure relaxation. I've been searching for a place like this for 17 years and I finally found it. The villas are wonderful and clean. You must get a golf cart to drive around the resort, and everyone you see always says hello you don't find that anywhere else on the planet. The staff is wonderful, so helpful.
I knew it was going to be a great stay when I received a phone call a week in advance of our arrival. They were letting me know that they were waiting for our arrival and if I there was anything else they could help with.
If I had to change one thing, just one little thing it would be to keep the restaurant open later. It closes at 9PM every night. You stay at the beach till 6 or 7 you have to rush to get to the restaurant. Other than that 1 little thing, it really is the perfect vacation spot.
I can sum it up like this, if you are looking for a vacation at the beach with lots of people and activities, waiters bringing you cold rum punch and elegant dining, this is not the place. But if you are looking for a relaxing spot to spend with family and friends, no crowds or long lines, the ability to share an entire beach with may 3 others this is the perfect spot."

"30th Anniversary Celebration
My husband and I chose Palm Island Resort for our 30th Anniversary Celebration. With limited time off, driving rather than flying to an island paradise was preferred. The limited access to the island (by boat or ferry) definitely maintained the island atmosphere and the Resort's privacy. We planned ahead and brought most of our own food, but a Publix is conveniently located on the mainland (less than a mile before the ferry) so shopping wasn't a problem. Our Beach Villa was beautiful (though a bit dated) and conveniently located near the island's restaurant, Rum Bay. Rum Bay offered a range of fare (though a little pricey). Taking a water taxi to the mainland to Johnny Leverock's was a highlight and the food was good and affordable. We brought our own bikes and enjoyed long bike rides and leisurely walks on the beautiful gulf side beach. Despite less than wonderful weather, we really enjoyed our stay at the resort and will definitely go back. "

"Relaxation in a Great Location with a Hint of Mildew
The location of our villa was perfect--in the middle of the resort close to the "action." The villa itself was a huge disappointment. The furnishings were very dated, the carpeting was extremely dirty, and the place reeked of mildew. We had to open all the windows and doors in order to let it air out. We visited our friends' villa and spent our time there as it was lovely and did not smell.
Our kayaking experience was great thanks to our guide Chris.
Our food was okay except for the shrimp pesto dish which had so much oil that we had to ask the waitress to drain it off, and still it was inedible.
This resort is good for total relaxation. All of the workers were pleasant and helpful."

"Family Reunion
The property we rented was a one bedroom. The unit was clean and generally well kept. The furnishings were older and a bit worn but we did not spend much time in the unit. The island offered several pristine pools and very easy access to the beach. Our unit was well located and the screened in porch offered an amazing view of the ocean. We would definitely return here in the future."

"Great Beach, But Don't Expect Luxury
Palm Island is a great place to stay if you want a nice, secluded beach without a big crowd. If you want luxury though, look elsewhere. I've stayed in a one bedroom beach villa twice now and they are badly in need of remodeling. They're old and run down and the living room furniture is pretty gross. The kitchen appliances are fine but the bathroom fixtures are not. If you think of it as a place to crash after the beach and nothing more then you won't be disappointed, but it seems a little overpriced to me if that's all it is. I wouldn't let that stop me from going back though since it's rare to find such a nice quiet place to enjoy the beach. I would still recommend it to friends but it's important to know what to expect. I might try one of the other types of buildings next time though, maybe they'll be in better shape."

"Wonderful Time (AGAIN) @ Palm Island!

"Still a stunning setting after all these years.....
Been coming for over 25 years so obviously love the place. The setting is spectacular. One of the nicest natural beach environments I have ever experienced. The condos and facilities are average. The infrastructure on the island is getting old and needs an upgrade. Disapointed that the store no longer carries food and household items. It used to be so convenient to replenish the basics. Now we have to go off island every time we need something. Staff are very friendly and competent. As long as the natural beatuy of palm Island is maintained, I will keep coming back."

As always we looked forward to our next visit to an old friend, Palm Island. The escape from our hectic work world is the best medicine possible. The peace and solitude was indescrible.On check-out, I did mention to staff that the dishwasher in 3721 seemed uncommonly loud, and being from Tampa, we were not totally overwhelmed by the sight of 4-5 cockroaches over the stay.There was no bug spray or a fly swatter available in condo. Shoe soles are still effective! It was our choice not to be disturbed by contacting maintainance to attend to those issues. We are already planning out next trip to see you."

"Great Amenities but Mattress wasn't in great shape
The property had great amenities, however,the mattress was not the best. On my side of the bed, the upper half of the mattress felt sunken in. This put my back in an uncomfortable position during sleep. Also, the bathroom sink looked like it wasn't cleaned prior to our visit. "

"Big disappointment
The room was very old and tired looking with soiled uncomfortable furniture. Sheets on the bed were yellow with age and towels like sandpaper. One restaurant on island and I'll say call Robert Irvine of restaurant impossible, a real joke of a place. Where do the rich home owners eat? Beach lovely and general outside of property pretty, but this is our last time there."

"Loved the location and island however the staff I would not
I loved Palm Island Resort however the customer service was terrible. I had just spent 5 days at another resort in Key West then traveled to a wedding on this resort and I was shocked at how guests were treated. I have had much better service in way less quality hotels! I was told I could do early check-in and kept calling in to check when my room was ready, then finally at 3:15 I called in and asked again and was told "Of ya its ready we forgot to call you" this is completely unacceptable. I would love to come back to visit the island but under this management I would never return. The simplest tasks such as getting a bellman, the front desk staff acted like it was the hardest task they had ever been asked before!"

"May stay at Palm Island
First time at Palm Island and had a very pleasant long weekend. We stayed in a one bedroon top level unit that was dated in its decor but it was very clean and had a great view.
We took bicycles and had fun riding all over the little island. Other friends rented golf carts which did come in handy. Large swimming pools and wide open beachs made for pleasant lazy days. Had lunchs at the bar/restaurant on the property and there were quite nice and staff very pleasant.
If you want a very quiet get away from it all, read books at the beach and just relaz trip, then this is a good place to go.

We love this place! Was a bit busier this year compared to last year when we came, so its sad that "the word" is getting out how awesome this place is! Both times, are condos we stayed it were very nice! Beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Feels like your at home but in a beautiful location. Staff and concierge are always very friendly and helpful. Most peaceful beautiful place I've ever vacationed too. If you want a gorgeous, very quiet beach this is your place! But don't share the secret with too many people:))"

I paid for my sister's stay but it took two weeks of calling to get you to process it as a gift. I see you still don't have it right because you sent me this survey. "Front desk
When I made my reservations I did not think the front desk was very knowledgeable about some services, it seemed like the person who answered the phone was new (no problem with that). I purchased groupon and was told that if I needed to cancel my groupon would be forfieted, even though there was time left with the promotion. I was not too thrilled but figured I was planning to visit, so let's worry about that if need be, but in the back of my mind thought I probably would not be returning. Also, it seemed to me that when the person I spoke to asked another in the office for help that individual seemed cranky (that was the part that bothered me).
Well when we arrived and enjoyed our stay I decided to overlook my previous thoughts. We had a wonderful time and would return.
I do suggest that the sheets be upgraded. The one in our condo were pilly and rough.

"My stay
Overall our stay was exceptional, the view, the commodities, and guest services were excellent. Our bed was very uncomfortable, as well as the livingroom chairs, which had an overly soft cushion, and a mid high rise on the back. (resembles the feeling of sitting in a wheelbarrel). However, an easy fix. $50, a day for golf cart rental is pretty steep, I believe Boca grande quoted $20. Adam was pretty stuck up, images like his take away from the island resort as a whole... apparently traits like that come with the territory. other than that our stay was very plesant.

"Quiet, Remote Getaway
If you are seeking a quiet getaway, this island resort is for you. Although the resort was full during our stay, you'd never know it. Our family of 4 felt like we had the beaches and pools to ourselves. Our kids - 10 & 13 - enjoyed the endless shelling and shark tooth collecting. We had wondrous encounters with rays, dolphins, and sea creatures we could not identify. A special thanks to Dan for an unforgettable discovery of Manatees at the dock. All the staff were helpful. We were especially grateful for the 4 ferry round trips included in the price. The island is paradise, but it is good to get off island now and then to avoid getting 'island fever' during our week - especially with kids.
Overall - our 1st first visit to the PIR was an exceptionally good trip which exceeded our high expectations. If we could make only one suggestion it would be to find a way to cool the pools down just a little. The dips were not as refreshing as some might prefer. Other than that, we highly recommend Palm Island Resort as a quiet alternative to "the Land of the Mouse' up north in Orlando."
