Playa Caribe 11 crowns the central tower of one of Half Moon Bay’s most established beachfront residences. This two-bedroom penthouse has been carefully designed for couples, friends, or small families who want both privacy and space. Each bedroom features a king bed, ensuite bathroom, and private oceanfront balcony. The master and guest suites are cooled with central air conditioning, ensuring restful sleep after sunny days by the sea.

The open-concept living and dining area is equally inviting, with sliding glass doors opening to a furnished terrace overlooking the Caribbean. A fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar makes preparing meals simple, whether it’s morning coffee with sunrise views or dinner at home after a day of exploring.

Guests enjoy shared amenities such as the beachfront swimming pool, BBQ grill, loungers, and outdoor shower. Concierge support, daily housekeeping, purified water, beach towels, and parking are included for a seamless stay.

This is a fourth-floor unit without elevator access, best suited for guests comfortable with stairs. Half Moon Bay’s shoreline is mixed sand and coral, so water shoes are recommended when swimming or snorkeling. Daily housekeeping service is provided. Parking, beach towels, and purified drinking water are provided.

KINDLY NOTE: During the summer months, south winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Riviera Maya. Things To Do in Akumal

Akumal is famous for its diving and snorkeling hotspots. The warm waters are rich in marine life, guarded by coral reefs. Many dive spots offer a variety of sea life, from endangered green sea turtles to stingrays and barracudas. Half Moon bay has a large curved beach of white sand and snorkeling spots just off the beach, and the waters are welcoming to swimmers, kayakers, and paddle boarders. "Playa Caribe Condo 11 - the best of the best!
I've stayed in a number of different condos at Playa Caribe over the year. I love the property, the views, the little pool and the more relaxed vibe on Half Moon Bay compared to Playa Akumal.

This year, we stayed in Condo 11. It is on the top floor in the middle of the condo with the best views of the bay. The kitchen is well stocked, the furniture and beds are comfortable and it is colourfully decorated.

The location is just about 1 km to Playa Akumal and the Tsuuk Akumal Parque Natural, the main beach in Akumal and where you can use an approved guide to snorkel with the turtles.

Yal-Ku Lagoon is also just 7 - 10 mins walk away. If you go there, follow the blue signs, not the yellow signs. There are 2 entrances operated by 2 different companies. The blue sign is the original operator and it is much less expensive than the other operator - and they both go to the same bay.

Just remember, no matter where you swim, use sun protective clothing or reef-friendly sunblock to help keep these beautiful places beautiful.

This year, Half Moon Bay was wavy and there was a lot of sargassum all along the bay. Also, a lot of the beach has disappeared so it's quite narrow between the steps of the property to the water.

When there is no sargassum, it's easy to get into the water with flippers or water shoes and swim out to chunks of coral. While so much has disappeared over the years, I was happy to see more live coral while snorkelling this time.

If you're looking for a sandy beach with a sand-bottomed swimming area, Playa Akumal is a better place for that, but I love to snorkel so I prefer to be where there is coral and lots of fish."

Playa Caribe # 12 is like living on the front of yacht. Gorgeous view of Half Moon Bay. Very quiet. No bugs. Body temperature weather and went to bed listening to the gentle waves with a lovely breeze. No need for air conditioning."

"The view is everything!
The deck of this condo is spectacular. Every morning we watched the sunrise with our coffee and were astonished at the view. Great snorkeling right out in front of the condo. The pool is pristine! We loved our housekeeper Paty and the maintenance man Carlos. Augustin kept everything running wonderfully. Any glitches we had were promptly fixed. Highly recommend! We'll be back! It does need icecube trays and some sort of oven safe bakeware, but otherwise very well stocked for pleasant vacation. The bed is quite firm. We had a fabulous time! "

"Playa Caribe is the best!
Playa Caribe #11 is an immaculately maintained and comfortable unit. We enjoyed spending time on the balcony with its amazing view of Half Moon Bay. The condo has everything you need for a great vacation. We didn't have a car, but there were plenty of restaurants within walking distance. We also walked to Yal Kul Lagoon and took a Tuk Tuk over to the Pueblo. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return. The only negative was that no one was around to help us get our luggage up 4 flights of stairs when we arrived at 2pm on a Saturday. "

"Spring Break Getaway

"Where Vacation Becomes Reality
If you’ve been searching for a tranquil beachfront place to stay near Aukumal, stop searching and book this beautiful condo. We arrived to a welcoming crew who anticipated us checking in. The crew then asked to help with our luggage and packed it up the three flights of stairs for us with a smile on their face. The condo was spotless and well equipped with kitchen goods. The large balcony with comfortable seating was hard to leave. The sunrise from the bed and the sunset from the rooftop was magic every time. There are a handful of local restaurants that serve excellent food. There are also a couple of tourist gift shops. We rented a golf cart through the concierge service at Aukumal Direct and appreciated the ride to get to dinner and home again as the street is a bit dark and uneven. Although there are plenty of people who walk. The bay was a bit hard to access as there is larger chunks of coral. The swimming pool was refreshing. The beach lounges and the sound and smell of the salty air relaxes all your worries away. Enjoy your stay there. We slept like babies in the comfortable beds. Thank you for everything!"

"Breath Taking
As soon as we opened the door to the condo we were wowed by the view. Our family enjoyed the stay. The town of Akumal was awesome everything was in walking distance. We did encounter seaweed on the beach, but it didn't matter with all the cenotes in the area we did not even worry about being on the beach. A special thank you to or cleaning lady Patricia. "Awesome stay
Condo 11 was very clean and well stocked. Housekeeping was super sweet and came every day. Couldn’t beat the view. Pool was clean and quiet. Very good location between La Lunita and La Buena Vida. Easy bike ride to Akumal. Someone was always posted outside at night, felt safe enough to sleep with the bedroom door open to hear the ocean sounds. Best sleep ever! "

Wonderfully appointed space. Probably the best view of the bay. Not far from eating and play. The concierge at Akumal-direct, David was fantastic. Anything I needed he took care of with haste. The only downside was that we were on the 4th floor and there as no elevator. But by the end of the week it actually wasn’t that bad. I’d advise for anyone traveling to Akumal that less is more. The whole area was wonderfully laid back. We are already planning our next visit. "

"Great homebase in Riviera Maya
We loved the small town vibe of Akumal. The central location made it easy to travel up and down the Riviera Maya and inland to various Mayan ruins. It's obvious that Half Moon Bay is breathtaking in Fall/Winter, but the bay was overrun with Sargassum in May. We knew this going into the trip and found plenty of non-beach activities to keep us busy. We still managed to swim everyday, whether in cenotes, lagoons, or the pool. The condo was clean, well maintained, and stocked with all of the essentials. We appreciated the housekeeping service offered at Condo Caribe. The only room for improvement was with the hot water; most days we had to let the water run for 15 mins to get warm or just take a cold shower. That being said, we would happily return to Half Moon Bay and Condo Caribe."

"Beautiful Condo, Awful Seaweed
We were in #11 and it was stunning. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we weren't told the seaweed would be bad this time of year, and weren't offered any compensation for it. The beach was unusable, and the smell was awful. Couldn't open the windows. I recommend this place before April. "

"Absolutely Beautiful!
My husband and I recently visited Akumal for the 1st time and truly enjoyed the whole experience. The views from this 4th floor condo are spectacular. The condo was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The only we had was with warm/hot water. Some days we had it, but most days we didn't. We contacted the management company to report the issues and was told to let the water run for 5 minutes. On many day, we waited 10+ minutes and no warm water. That would not prevent us from returning though. The photos do not do this pace justice. The proximity and variety of restaurants was a good mix and we enjoyed each and every one many times. There is also a little market right across the street. Everything that we needed was convenient. We would highly recommend giving this condo a visit. We will be returning ourselves again and again.

My only warning is that you need to be aware that this condo is located on the 4th floor. There are a lot of steps and no elevator. Keep that in mind when packing you luggage. ;-) Also, we visited in October and seaweed was really bad. That didn't take away from the beauty of Akumal, just something to keep in mind when planning a visit. "
