We've been visiting the Islander for over ten years.
The condos are very comfortable and accommodating with some update. Great for Family gatherings. But the beach is really the best! We had the clearest water ever and nice breezy days. Beach chairs and discounts offers for other activities are a great bonus. Great Time"

"Some minor flaws but overall a good place to stay
It was nice. I didnt know how to get clean towels though the whole week I was there. Our condo was dirty when we arrived I had to clean it. There was candy in our bed and candy on the entertainment center-very hard to miss if someone actually came in and cleaned.
Other than that our stay was nice it’s close to beach access, appliances are very old. Could use a new toaster. I didn’t expect any of these things to be here but overall I would consider staying Again. "

"Great Condo
This condo was just as represented. Mostly updated recently. Great kitchen, comfortable beds, roomy, great view of the beach from the large porch.
A really nice perk included was having the use of an umbrella and two beach chairs set up daily on the beach.
This unit was on the 2nd floor at the end of the building and it was so easy to walk down one flight of stairs and access the walkway to the beach.
Loved the entire experience and have reserved it for next spring! Thank you Brooks and Shorey Resorts for your help in making our new reservation."

"Enjoyed our stay
We brought our mothers on this trip and they slept well, were comfortable and really enjoyed the view from our condo. The 4 of us had plenty of room really enjoyed the great decor and the furniture was comfortable. We did have maintenance come to tighten the table as it wobbled and they showed up quickly. We did frequently trip stepping out on balcony but there is nothing that can be done for that. We would definitely recommend this unit. We would recommend the property owners do something about the slippery steps getting into the pool several people including myself slipped. As a result I have missed work and will probably need a surgery to fix my knee."

"Better than expected
The condo was very clean and in a great location. We enjoyed staying in this condo with a wonderful view of the beach and ocean. Watch your step to the balcony though we tripped a couple of times but I would definitely stay here again!"

We were pleasantly surprised that the condo had been updated from the photos that were posted. Everything appeared to be clean and in order. The view was great and close to the ocean so we could hear the waves. The beaches and pool were just what we were wanting. It was close driving distance to the restaurants and attractions but still on the quiet and of the beach. Loved it and would stay again."

Very clean, Beautifully decorated 2 BR/2 BA condo. Great location on Okaloosa Island. Away from all the congestion but convenient to get to restaurants and grocery store. The kitchen was well stocked with the necessities. The view of the Gulf is gorgeous!!"

"Almost perfect view.
Because we are older and spend less time on the beach, the balcony view is our most essential rental requirement. The Islander has a great view. However, the dunes have gotten so high that you cannot see the beach from the 2nd floor. (This is great in that higher dunes provide more protection) The view of the gulf is still wonderful, but seeing the beach is limited, expecially at high tide. You can still see people's upper body walking on the beach but not see the beach. We like to sit on the balcony and watch family on the beach. Otherwise, 2002 is very comfortable (has two recliners). I would recommend 2002."

"Beautiful beach, adequate condo
We love Okaloosa for a quiet beach vacation in the fall and have stayed in the area before.
Our condo was homey, but old-fashioned. It has carpeting, and was advertised as pet free but clearly was not. Allergy issues for us that week. Both tubs backed up badly and both toilets had corroded "insides" so I had my hand in toilet tanks multiple times. I did call maintenance and they fixed the one but failed to fix the 2nd which was frustrating. The stove has coiled burners which are lopsided and the drip trays wrapped in foil...? That was a turn off. TVs in bedroom mounted poorly and dont have HDMI ports so no plug in for the kids which wasnt a huge deal but I expected that in an "updated" condo.
Overall it was adequate but we have stayed in much nicer at same price and would not return to this particular unit.
Tip...friends stayed in a 3br here. Next time I will opt for the 3br. Lots more space for the $.
I did love the patio furniture, probably my favorite thing about it.

Brooks and Shorey rental was very easy to work with answered all my questions and concerns. The condo was very nice and clean.
The construction next store to the condo was somewhat disruptive listening to the generators and workers shouting. The twin beds were very uncomfortable to sleep in for my adult children. I would like to come back to this island but next Time I will make sure no construction is going on next store. The beaches are the best the sand is so soft and the water is so clear. "

"Far from the madding crowd
We enjoyed our vacation in such a cozy and inviting place with the remarkable view and privacy. Warm colors without being overdone with the beach decor made it feel more like home, and to relax on the balcony without the pool as a distraction gave needed privacy. The entire facility is kept up well with easy access to the beach. The extra amenities were great extras and convenient. I've been visiting since 2007 and only tried a few other places before returning to the Islander and always through Brooks & Shorey. "

The condo was lovely, clean and comfortable. Loved having the twin beds in the second bedroom for my kids. Master bed has a memory foam topper which I hated, but I know lots of people really like them, so I can't really complain about that. We cooked in the large kitchen several time. Contacted the owner with a question and got a very quick response. We will definitely be back. My only real complaint is check in - with keyless entry it's ridiculous to have to stop at the management office. All paperwork should be able to be completed online!"

The apartment is comfortable, clean and meets all of our needs for a lovely vacation. The location is great for everything you could want to do in the area. Brooks and Shorey management is friendly and helpful. We ate in some of the recommended restaurants and enjoyed the experience. We are return customers and will be back soon!"

"Great Stay!
My wife and I stayed from Sept. 18th-Oct 3rd and we loved it! The condo was everything as advertised and more. It has everything you need and was very clean. The beach and ocean were obviously awesome as well. We took advantage of the free round of golf that comes with the rental and it was only a 20 min drive north of Ft. Walton. We also liked that the rental came with chairs and umbrella rental on the beach. Some people staying at the Islander Resort's rooms didn't come with the rental and had to pay $25 per day so that was a great value in itself. We would highly recommend staying here and we'll definitely be back!"

This was our second year to stay at the Islander and it was also a great experience. We changed condos only because the living room furniture set up was more accommodating for our family this year. We found the condo to be clean and in good order. We loved the location because we could sit outside each morning and enjoy the early activities of the beach and the ocean view was excellent. We would highly recommend this property to our friends. We also loved the fact we had a beautiful white beach that was not too busy and could also just drive a few miles to great restaurants and shopping. Would love to go again soon!"

"Adorable Condo! Great view! Perfect family vacation!
We stayed here at the end of July and our only complaint was the really gross water. Usually the water is gorgeous but with all the storms in July it was dark, murky and full of seaweed. But the unit was gorgeous and clean and absolutely charming. We could hear people on either side of us when they would run up and down their condos which got annoying but you can't expect total quiet in the summer at the beach. ;) The washing machine got pretty loud during its spin cycle so we tried to only use that during the day so we wouldn't disturb our neighbors. But everything was great and we'd definitely rent this unit again! :)"

"Couldn't Have Been More Perfect
Honestly, the condo had absolutely everything we wanted and needed to cook, eat, drink, play games, enjoy the view, sit around, listen to music, work out, etc., etc. Convenient condo location in the building (on the end for easy parking lot access) and convenient building location on the strip (close to the Tom Thumb convenience store down the street). We arrived after hours. Brooks & Shorey left detailed instructions for how to proceed. Next morning check-in was quick and the office staff were very friendly. Checking out was quick and easy, too. It was our first time to the beach, and this condo and rental company made it perfect. Simple as that. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be recommending Brooks & Shorey and The Islander, for sure!"

Rate everything a 5, except cleanliness - your cleaners do not do a very thorough job of cleaning. There is dirt & grime on the cabinet fronts & electrical switch plates in all rooms - and the stove. For the most part it was clean, but encourage you to expect more out of the people who clean. "

"I love the Islander, but hate Brooks and Shorey Resorts
For years, my family has stayed at the Islander and we love it and Ft Walton Beach. But this year I booked with Brooks and Shorey Resort, they told me that they were the front desk, which they are not and scheduled my weeks vacation. Upon arrival, we checked in late and to my surprise the nite box was not where my keys were. We had to drive back over the brige to the location off site to where Brooks and Shorey Resort is located. If I were told that I would have to check in somewhere else, I would not have booked with this company. I just drove in from Houston and wanted to just be on the beach, not looking around for this place. We got there and the lock box code didn't work, I had to pry the envelope with my keys out of the box. Then was told, only because it was written on the check in paper, that since I was a late check in I would have to go Back over to the Brooks and Shorey Office before 10am to sign my check in papers, or my credit card would be charged some kind of fee. So to start off my vacation, I had to get back in the car and drive over to the office to sign the stupid paper, when I told the girl at the office about all of this, she told me that I should have read the email confirmation it was all in there. They should tell you all of this while your booking, but they only want to get your money and the with you the paying customer. I spoke to the front desk which is Resort Quest, and they apologized to me even though they had done nothing wrong, and gave me free vouchers the next time that I booked and coupons for things to do, Resort Quest was very friendly and professional and I will schedule my next stay at the Islander with them, NOT Brooks and Shorey Resort. "

The windows are in rough shape. The windows on the Gulf side were tough to move. There was no screen on the slider.
The front second bedroom window does not move. The reason this is mentioned is the air did not seem to ever get the condo down to 75°. We tried for awhile having it set at 75° so we then resorted to having the windows open all the time."

"Great family vacation
The condo was very comfortable and homey. We loved the dolphin sightings from the balcony overlooking the water. The water was beautiful. The children loved the beach as well a the pool. The young men with the beach chairs and umbrellas were very accommodating and did a great job of having our area ready even with our large group. We had 4 condos booked at one point during our week long stay. Many restaurants, grocery stores, shops, and souvenir shops were also located close to the condo. Also enjoyed the harbor walk village. We would definitely stay here again. Had a wonderful vacation. "

Room was just as pictured, very clean, check in was a piece of cake and our room was ready even though we arrived at noon. Staff could not have been better. We have stayed at the Islander for over 35 years and this unit was the best ever. We had a family of four adults and were very comfortable inside and out. The beds were comfortable, the view was magnificent, the location was perfect, the kitchen was well equipped. The balcony size was ideal. I also like the extras ya'll include in the stay; like beach umbrellas, dolphin tour and golf. I love the Islander for young and old. "

We enjoyed our family vacation very much and with all the talk and news about the oil spill we found the beach very clean and water oil free. The weather gave us lots of beach time and water and waves were great. a good time was had by all(we had another family staying in another room) that we shared our vacation with. There were people working around the clock to inspect and clean the beaches of any oil or tar balls. we flet safe and at ease."

"OK but its going down hill
Ive been staying at the islander for years. Now that Brooks and Shore are off site, it is not as convienet. Plus the people in unit 2003 were constantly partying through the night. with no onsite I really didn't feel like there was anything I could do. The unit must have a mold, or dust problem because I was stuffed up every morning. As soon as I was out of the unit for a few hours I was clear as a bell. It did smell a little funny inside, mildew smell. I really love the property, and the location, but If resort quest took over the site managment I might rent through them next time. "

We stayed at the Islander three years ago (married on Ft. Walton Beach) and returned two years later with our son. We are planning to return this year along with our son. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely do it again in the future. The condos were clean and very well maintained. We stay on the first level beach side and the view of the beach was excellent."

"A wonderful vacation!
I would recommend the Islander to everyone. In fact I have. Several of our friends have inquired about booking here. It was so clean and family friendly. The rates were the best we could find for the comforts we had. The beach was beautiful and not so crowded. The pool is clean and lots of lounge furniture to sit and relax. No traffic either and still close enough to be in the action of Destin within just a few minutes. Fort Walton Beach is quiet, but has everything you need to be comfortable. We will definately be back! "

"We were very satisified with our accomadations. The air unit was out but the weather was perfect so that was not a problem .. If we had been there another day, when the humidity rowe, we may had "died". We would love to return!!!!

"Islander 2002
We loved the location. Being on the second floor was nice. We could talk to our kids on the beach and see them at the pool.
Only a couple things I'd suggest: the carpet really needed cleaning. Our white socks were almost black not long after walking on the carpet. Also, there was not much light at all in the master bedroom's shower. Other than those things, this was a great unit to rent."

"Would visit again
we enjoyed the direct view of the gulf from our unit, unit was very nice. The pool was closed the first day we arrived, but was up and running the very next day. Hot tub was broken...but overall very nice establishment."
