"Not what I expected for the pricey stay!
Benefits, great location and nice towels. We've stayed at many different locations between Gulf Shores and Fort Myers, we come about every 4 months. This is our 2nd in this building, the first was good. This stay was horrible! We aren't high maintenance people either, but I do have some expectations when I spend $2500 for a few days relaxation and vacation #1. Floors were filty, we had to wash our feet every night before bed, tried to clean, but absolutely no cleaning products and the mop that was there was as dirty as the floors. #2. The washing machine/dryer put black streaks on our clothing. Therefore ruining a couple $$$ dollars worth of cloths. #3.The toaster only toasted one side of bread regardless of which side you used, the very basics of cooking items (all mismatched and cheap). #4. The beds were horrible, the queen size mattress was literally as hard as the concrete, the King size was exact opposite and sunk in the middle. The sheets were horrible, microfiber cheap polyester sheets. We went to Walmart and bought 100% cotton sheets. #5. The pull out couch was quite questionable as well, leaned had down. Additionally, there were no bedding for it. No rest was had on any of the sleeping surface. Very odd, 1 small 4x6 random picture of a family on the beach, in the hallway on a shelf. We will definitely not be recommending this unit to anyone, as it looked as though the empty their house of all the secondary items they would put in a garage sale and furniture this condo. "

Our condo we rented was wonderful, just as it was advertised. Ice maker did not work, but we found ice trays to make our own. View was heavenly, but the weather was not agreeable. Got one day of sunshine!! Did a lot of site seeing, historic sites, etc. Got a good fill of great food within a mile or 2 of our stay. "

"Wonderful stay
Wonderful stay at the Islander Beach Resort. This specific location is right on the ocean with the best views and quick walk to the beach and the pool. The property was clean and well furnished with everything you need for your stay. The pool was always clean and the pool guy was there every morning to maintenance and clean it! Beach chair service was nice and the young man working was always the first one out in the morning and had spots available for guests. We won't stay anywhere else on the island. Can't beat the views, cleanliness, location and the professionalism of Brooks and Shorey. Any questions I had about our stay/check in were answered in a timely and polite manner! "

We had a lovely time. Condo was clean and nicely decorated. I would suggest a better mattress in the spare bedroom. Very hard and could feel the springs. The air conditioner felt like it turned off at night. We woke up sweating. We enjoyed the big balcony. The pool area was nice and clean except on Sunday. There were empty cans and food all over the deck. The pool had bugs floating and trash at the bottom. I guess the cleaning crew is off on Sunday’s? "

"A much needed 7 days of bliss!!
This rental was a 5* stay all around!! The convenience of this property is absolutely perfect. We were able to walk out onto our balcony and watch the gorgeous ocean. The condo was absolutely clean as a whistle. Everything you need in a kitchen to cook with is at your fingertips. We bought crab legs and there were even the tools to crack the shells with. Having a washer and dryer was also an added bonus. There are elevators and everything on the property is easy to find. The pool was so refreshing to jump into after a day on the beach. The staff was very polite and accommodating to any questions you might have. Our only complaint was the mattress in the master bedroom was extremely uncomfortable and really needs replaced. Also, on our second to last day the pool was closed. When you have a fully booked property and there are a bunch of smaller children, working on the pool shouldn’t be done during the day. Especially since it wasn’t an emergency to work on it. Several employees said how sorry they were and wished they were allowed to do it in the early evening so the pool wouldn’t be closed for a whole day. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Islander in #3006. We 100% will be booking our stay for next summer. We also would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for the perfect vacation rental that is directly on the beach. Summer of 2022 can’t get here soon enough!!!!"

"First vacation in years - Fort Walton Beach, Florida
Location and the overall islander condominium was awesome! The beach and pool there was great ! Chairs provided at beach and pool was never overcrowded. I didn’t know what to expect and all of that was worth it!! The area needs more help for restaurants - that was a chore, but the condo had a nice working kitchen so that helped. For 2,300 I expected at least newer flushing toilets and furniture without stains... there was some of that and whoever cleaned the condo before we got there swept up dirt piles and then never removed them. Lots of dirt and dust along the baseboards and also on the return vent maybe I was just expecting too much because I never travel due to cost.... This was a real treat for us! We will go back next year to the same area! Great memories for my family!"

I understand there was a tropical storm (elsa) that ruled through but that doesn't excuse mulch floating in the pool for 3 days. The pool was closed on our hottest day. Staff seemed to be bothered when we asked for an umbrella by the pool. The dresser in the master bedroom reeked of mold and mildew and was essentially unusable. The AC just couldn't keep the room below 75 and the outside temperature never reached 90. Maintenance came and said he fixed it but that wasn't the case. We gathered for our first family dinner and I quickly found myself on the floor because a leg on my chair gave way. I weigh a whopping 170lbs. Just an all around horrible stay. The beach service is the only reason I didn't give it one star. Definitely won't be back at this location. "

We had one day where we had no water because of a pump problem,but it gave us a reason to go shopping, we saw dolphins on our 2nd day from our balcony, so cool. The condo was clean and moderately updated. The porch was huge and the views incredible. The outside noise is heard easily in the bedrooms, however, not heard in the main living areas. Easy check in and check out. Management was wonderful to work with regarding booking the condo. The staff for umbrella and chair set up were also wonderful-professional, kind and acted like gentleman. One thing to improve-we didn’t have water our last day (was out for the building) and not notified of this water outage at all. We understand that sometimes things happen, as there was significant construction going on during our stay, but management should have notified us. "

1-no hot water in kitchen sink (only stayed Sat and Sun so was not going to demand a plumber be sent) thankful for hot water in bathroom
2-the sliding balcony door required super human strength to open and close. Needs to be looked at
3-the queen size bed was like a rock. Horrible nite sleep. Couch (not pulled out) allowed for a few hours sleep
4-while I understand the need for deep cleaning, the sheet and blanket burned my skin. Not sure what kind of laundry detergent is being used. But. I had to buy sheets for myself "

The place was clean, neat, and one of the few places I have stayed at on the Emerald Coast that had a decent sliding glass door that did not have salt corrosion. I think hard and cannot recall anything that was less than I expected it to be. We have been staying on the Emerald Coast annually either east or west of Ft.Walton thirty-five years and have never had a place that provided enough toilet paper to last a week. Finally, I found one. A round of applause to the housekeeper. The stay was great. The only thing less than perfect was the movie rental. We had to go to another place and found that we did not have the card needed to rent the movies. "

Our stay was supposed to be from October 5-12, 2018 but hurricane Michael had other plans for us. We received an email with our evacuation notice on October 8, 2018. Although our trip was cut short we enjoyed our stay. It's just a short walk over the wooden sidewalk to the beach. The pool was big and very clean. Our condo was clean and a very nice size for 2 couples. The kitchen had everything we needed, plenty of seating in the living room and dining room, we also enjoyed the view. I would visit this part of the beach and definitely stay in this condo again."

"A pleasant stay on a perfect beach.
Our stay in this unit was very pleasant (with minor exceptions). Location is perfect, and the unit was clean and in good shape. The only exceptions noted were wimpy shower heads and non-working unit telephone (and we tried unsuccessfully using a new phone in the wall plug). All things considered, we would certainly stay in this unit again."

We had a lovely view of the beach. The condo was clean, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. The only downside was the noise from the renovations that were going on above us. They were removing ceramic tile with a very loud machine. It could be heard at the beach, so imagine how loud it was in the condo and at the pool. "

stay was great. only complaint, we came in on the end of tropical storm nate, we had all windows on the ocean side and because of the storm blowing up so much once it cleared we couldnt see out the windows. a few cleaning supplies in the unit would have been a help. we got them all cleaned and our view was beautiful!!! I must say that alone would not change my opinion about my stay. Look forward to my next stay there!"

Inside the showers was pretty dark and hard to see while bathing. I think I'd find another condo next time. Good balcony furniture and great view of the beach. "

"Beach view very nice! Condo maintenance going down hill!
We have been to Ft. Walton 12 times and stayed at the Islander 10x. We love the beach view. However, the condition of the overall property in general is going down hill on many fronts and the costs keep rising. We really miss the hot tub and many other places have one, which is a plus. Our family rented two condos - ours was outdated compared to the other one on the 5th floor and they paid less. We used to see the pool cleaners every day. We did not see them until our 4th day there and I think they only cleaned it once and tested it twice. By the end of the week, there was a brownish scum floating in the pool, a few band aides laying around, several dead bugs. There are 3 umbrellas at the pool and they should have more in case folks want to take a short break from the sun. They were all broken and coming apart. There is obviously no security there as several nights there were teenage boys in the hallway all night and they used the bathroom in the hallway and it was never cleaned by the time we left - it smelled horrible. Paying over $2000 for a week is very pricy for an outdated condo in our opinion, especially when the overall maintenance is almost null. "

Awesome location. My husband and i had a wonderful time. Very clean and updated condo! No problems. The package that came with the condo was a nice touch. i will say the golf course used was not very well kept. The dolphin trip was nice but do not feel the 'captain' and staff were very kid friendly. May have been the location of our seats (up front). All in all we had a great time! Would definately go back.

This was an awesome vacation for us! The condo is in a perfect location on the beach and in the complex itself. Extremely clean and very comfortable. Nice location. Great balcony view. Loved the keyless entry. Location is very good. Parking was no problem. Free beach chairs were amazing. I think the property could be better maintained. The elevator was filthy. Condo has a nice floor plan with beautiful views. The beds are HORRIBLE! The mattresses are so thin you could just sleep on the floor as comfortably. Cleanliness is average in the condo. If the beds were better it would make for a better stay. Amenities in the condo were non existent. No chairs (you only get 2 rentals) so if you have more than 2 people bring or buy chairs. No beach towels. Basic kitchen items. Has ice maker. My suggestion for a better experience would be replace the old couch & defiantly both mattresses. Purchase a few ammenaties like chairs, mini cooler, umbrella & some beach towels. Would recommend only if mattresses were replaced I promise they are BAD!"

"AMAZING!!!
This vacation rental was everything we could of wanted and more. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were great!!!! Loved the fact that we didn't need a key to get in!!! The view was breathtaking and we seen several dolphins throughout our stay. The only bad thing we had happen was my friend left her purse in one of the dressers and it hasn't turned up yet. Keep hoping someone will turn it in as it has her and her daughters social security cards in it. But that is totally our fault for accidentally leaving it!! Overall I am hoping that we can rent this condo each time we come back to Florida!!!!! The owner and the rental company are awesome to work with and very helpful with anything you may need!!!!"

Experience was great overall! Great location with beachfront steps away. Pool was very large and heated and was a fairly quiet stay. Only a couple of small groups were loud and believe it or not, were adults on spring break. I will say the couches were entirely unacceptable. The cushions were so worn you had to place the pillows under your arse so the leading edge wouldn't hurt. Even though a review months before we stayed commented the cushions were worn out, I assumed the owner would have spent a couple hundred bucks to have the cushions redone.
Overall highly recommended, but I'd make sure the couch cushions were replaced or you'll be switching couches each night.
One other note, the first hour we arrived the master bath toilet plunger was not sealing and water was continuously running. Within an hour of our call to Brooks it was taken care of and we greatly appreciate the efficiency of the the maintenance.

"Just beautiful
We had a wonderful experience. The condo was everything we expected. Agree the one couch was uncomfortable but we were not here to be couch potatoes. The view was just amazing. We did the Sea blaster dolphin/sunset. We kayaked and did a waverunner dolphin excursion, We also did the Destin snorkeling (it was a bit cold that day so we froze) but overall we had a wonderful time. The property management company was great to work with very impressed everything we got with rental."

"July 2014 McGlynn Family Vacation
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! The McGlynn family had a wonderful time. This was the first time my children had seen the ocean, a real beach and Florida. The condo location was awesome. The condo itself was perfect for our family of 6. It had everything we needed including the washing machine and dryer. Being so close to the Gulf was amazing. The private beach was perfect and the two gentlemen who set up the chairs and umbrella every day were friendly and helpful. Hearing the ocean and Seeing the dolphins from our balcony was fun for all. This was truly a very relaxing vacation and we will be back again when we can stay even longer......thank you for everything. "

This is an incredible family friendly location in a very clean and friendly condo complex. The house is in great shape and every amenity advertised works very well. The pool is excellently maintained and the beach amenities are very good as well. I would recommend this place and plan on returning soon."

"Our whole family enjoyed themselves.
There were a few things I was not satisfied with. One of the closets in the master bedroom did not close. The doors where off the track and just hanging there. Also the water pressure that comes from the shower head int he master bedroom was very low. But besides the cosmetic side of things everything was great. And my family and I can't wait to come back for another family vacation. "

"Perfect view!
The condo was wonderful. It is spacious, clean and furnished nicely. Unit 3006 has an awesome view of the ocean with the added benefit of overlooking the beautiful pool! The mattress on the king bed was too firm for our backs - we were a bit uncomfortable. "

if your are going too give a card for free rentals of movies it needs too be able too rent them from the rental machine on the frist floor not go off site too get them. the room was nice and had lots of space and rental agency was very good too."

"3006 Islander
The room was not clean, there were several things wrong with the room. The shower curtain was dirty, their were stains on the carpet in the living room, the sheets had marker in the master bedroom and the second bedroom had stains on the comforter. There was a broken plate and the stove light kept blinking. The washer when it spinned out it would make a horrible noise until it was done spinning out. "

"Not Impressed
The booking staff was very professional. When we went to check out the staff in the office could care less and all they wanted were the keys and video rental card. If the rental company is requiring a credit card deposit of $300 for a security deposit
they should do walk throughs to make sure that the unit is in good condition and not ask the renters to call in any problems that they find. We found the front door hinges loose, we had to screw the hinges back in. We found the AC filter completely clogged.
The blinds in the living room was missing blinds. In the one bedroom was a fake ficus that had a good layer of dust on it. In the kitchen, the carpet in front of the sink was stuck so bad to the floor that it will have scraped up. The refrigerator had a broken
shelf. If Brooks and Shorey is paying for cleaning they should get their money back. We did call the manager at Brooks and Shorey to inform them of the rude office person and of the condition of the unit."

"Nice, but not for the price
While the condo was nice, we have stayed at other locations a whole lot nicer. The decor was ok, but kinda dated. The dresser in one bedroom had a really bad musty smell.Put bounce sheets in drawers to help.Distance from condo to beach was good. Pool size was excellent. Hot tub was too hot and jets did not stay on long enough. No parking garage so SUV was hot. Balcony size was nice. Won't stay again. Other rentals we have used much nicer and comparable in price. also, have to use keys. no keypad. not convenient for more than 1 family. check in and out is off location. "

The unit was beautiful and comfortable. We love The Islander Resort. The only two things we did not like were problems with the blinds over the balcony door - the "handle" on the blinds kept coming off, and we kept putting it on - and the mattress pads on the beds are flimsy and getting worn - made the beds a little annoying."

"We were very appreciatative of the respect and special pricing given to Government travelers, however it seems as a pently we were required to rent our own umbrella and chairs and the other renters did not.
Just because we earned a discount in room cost from dedicated service and protection of this country's freedoms, your business wanted to charge us. Not cool."

I was extrememly pleased with the location, view, and accommodations of the condo. I couldn't have asked for more, as there was already more than I needed. "Relax at the Islander
This was our third stay at the Islander Beach Resort. We love it. It is so peaceful and beautiful. This was our first stay in 3006. Overall it was a very nice condo. We were directly over the pool and noise was never a problem. All we had to do was shut the sliding glass door to our balcony and we couldn't hear a thing. We have a two year old, so all of the glass furniture and seashell nicnacks were a concern (we stored the glass coffe table in our bedroom during our stay and moved the seashells to a middle shelf and returned them to the bottom shelf before we left. We brought our router so we were able to enjoy wireless internet. My only complaint was the cleaness of the bathrooms (bathtubs to be specific). It is nothing against the owners or the condo itself.... (just the people who clean it between guests). There was black and pink residue on the surround and on the top sides of the tub, the stuff that doesn't form over a few weeks, but stuff that forms over months and months when it hasn't had a good cleaning. I also loved the assortment of books to read....the owner and I have a common interest reading. We will be coming back next year!!! "

"New Check in/out procedures
It was very inconvenient to check in/out at a different location (other than the condo). In years past the procedure took five minutes and we walked right up to our condo. We had to drive out of our way to check in/out. More staffing may be needed for this process as we had to wait 15 to 20 minutes to check in. Also, in years past, we were provided with extra towels so that we didn't have to do laundry everyday. This year we had to wash our towels and washrags everyday, if we wanted to shower daily. that is the only thing I would change."
