"A true Maui Gem
Love the Hale Kai & have stayed In 1 bedroom units several times in addition to numerous times in Unit 120 (which is the very best location just steps from the ocean & a small beach). There are two well-maintained BBQ's on the property as well. We were treated to watching whales breaching nearly every day of our stay! The unit was very clean and property managers (Valerie #1 and Valerie #2) are the best and quick to respond to any questions or needs. The fact the deadbolt on the front door does not work should be corrected promptly as that is a safety issue and reported to management the day of our arrival. We love the Hale Kai and we will be back!"

Unit 120 is in a good location on the property
Easy access to the bbq and pool
Unit has a nice bathroom and shower
The kitchen is tiny and narrow with room for one person at a time and the refrigerator door blocks entry into the kitchen
Dishes and cooking pans are minimal with out any plastic dishes/ glasses to take poolside.
Furniture is pretty and by adding some bedroom pillows was comfortable
Renters need to know that the pool is not heated so not kid friendly although most renters are older couples with out children "

"Simply paradise
I really didn’t want to write a review because everyone will want to stay here and then it won’t be available when I want to come back. This is my third stay at the Hale Kai. All were great, but I stayed on the side with a view of the park. This unit was so convenient to pool access and the beach where upon arrival we were greeted with a rainbow and a slumbering sea turtle on the beach. We saw breaching whales in the distance as well, but that is march in Maui. Probably not so much any other time of year.
The actual accommodations were more than adequate. The dishes and silverware and whole condo had a theme. Beds comfy too. I even preferred to sleep on the couch. Great view and you are lulled to sleep by the waves.
The locals that live in the building put up with us travelers and blow a conch at their sunset ceremony every night. Wanna feel like a local? Stay here. But save a week for me..."

Great location with a beautiful view and private beach. Pool and BBQ are well maintained and clean. Great place to watch �� and ��. Beach area are small, good for sun bathing not for long walk on

"Sadly I would not recommend it
The view was absolutely gorgeous but unfortunately that was the only positive aspect of the complex.
The whole place was not cleaned, there were dirty dishes in the kitchen cabinets, the floor was sticky, lamps switches were sticky, tons of dust on the lampshades, furniture etc etc.
We didn’t have enough sheets for all of the beds but Melody the manager was great with providing what was missing, she also sent a lady to clean the floor but there was way too much beyond the floor.
I was disappointed that for what we paid for this stay the apartment was in such a poor condition,
All the furniture really should be replaced ( dirty stained chairs and beds)
Dirty fans etc etc
It wasn’t a pleasant stay but the location and the view were wonderful. "

"Perfect for grandparents and pregnant granddaughter
Hale Kai exactly fit the bill for us. Our vacation was a college graduation gift for our 25 year old granddaughter, who was expecting her first child in four months. We wanted a small, quiet, unglitzy family friendly place on the water, within walking distance of groceries and small restaurants, and a short drive to excellent snorkeling spots. We loved both the farmer's market, across the street, and the public park, frequented mainly by locals and their kids, next door. My husband found it inviting enough to do some plein-air watercolor painting, while I read in the shade. Our granddaughter relished languishing in the pool, enjoying final days before assuming the responsibilities of motherhood. Our condo was just right; Valerie and the rest of the staff were most accommodating and helpful. Hale Kai is a delightful place and we all felt very fortunate to have found it. We would love to return some day."

The property is showing it's age, is not being maintained eg front door deadbolt does not work, balcony door does not lock (but there is a locking bar). Cockroaches are somehow getting in.
But, overall, is a comfortable property in a great location"

"Amazing stay at the Hale Kai!!
We had a wonderful time at the Hale Kai #120! Hearing the Ocean as we fell asleep with that ocean breeze was a highlight! We also enjoyed the views and sunsets from the lanai. This apt is in the perfect location, right next to a beach park and across from the grocery store and market. The pool was amazing! Fun to look for whales while sunbathing! Valarie is so helpful and friendly. We love this place❤️❤️"

Exceptional service from Hale Kai staff. Easy to locate the unit and having a designated parking space is always a plus. Unit was quiet and perfectly located close to the ocean, pool and BBQ. Loads of shops and restaurants near by. Only advice would be to get a new model TV to allow streaming devices such as a fire stick to allow Netflix streaming for kids."

"Awesome Stay
What a wonderful place to stay. Clean, well equipped Condo. Had everything we needed for a great 5 days. Loved sitting outside with the ocean a few meters away. The pool was crystal clean. Who would want to stay in a large hotel with lifts and small rooms. A true Hawaiian experience. The BBQ's were spotless clean every day. The staff were also very discrete, friendly and very helpful. "

"Work/play vacation
The condominium had a great location near 2 snorkel rental shops, farmer's market, supermarket and 2 smaller markets with tasty cheap eats.
Was nice to be next to the ocean and listen to the waves at night. Neighbors were very friendly and welcoming. Saw turtles every afternoon. Very relaxing to eat lunch outside on lanai, with Molokai in the distance and frequent whale sightings. "

"Wonderful Hawaiian Experience!
We loved this property and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We were greeted with a wonderful “ Aloha Basket” of local treats and a personal note from them owner that was much appreciated. The lanai was 18 steps (counted them!) from the sea wall and we spent many “happy hours” out there enjoying the view. Watching for whales and spotting sea turtles added to the experience. The property was fairly well maintained and a problem with the sliding screen door was fixed the day after we arrived. The unit is small in square footage, but we spent most of our time outside, so it didn’t seem to be a problem. Parking was available and convenient. Coin operated washers and driers are on the property and worked well. On the down side, the bathroom smelled musty unless we kept the fan on 24/7. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and felt the condo gave us a wonderful Hawaiian experience."

"Home away from home
Stayed Dec 27-Jan 8/18. We've stayed in the same room the last 3 years with my husband and two boys. Hale Kai is very special to us! Room 120 is perfect for our family, however is started to deteriorate. The kitchen needs some attention - stove knobs are terrible (can't turn them on , the drawers hit the oven door... and the light over the dining room table wasn't working (not a change of lightbulb issue). We asked for it to be addressed and it wasn't, which was disappointing. The room also desperately needs a new broom!!! BUT, all small things! Nothing would stop us from booking this room again and again. The proximity to the private beach, and pool deck is amazing. Truly love it here. Have told many ppl about Hale Kai."

"Amaaaaaaaaaazing!
Location Location LOCATION was Fantastic.
Right on beachfront with own private beach, pool 3 steps from front lanai.
Fully equipped kitchen, very very comfortable beds (King in master room), breezes plentiful enough to keep us comfortable in the middle of summer.
The corner spot meant it was quiet and we had easy access to the pool gate and beach steps.
We had a wonderful week here and our 4yr old daughter Loved the turtles in the ocean, the conch blowers at sunset (next door) and the pool was a hit.
Would 1000% recommend this apartment and am looking to come back very very soon (fingers crossed)."

"Being at Hale Kai makes us happy!
My husband and I spent four weeks in #120. Our first stay in this unit, but third visit to Hale Kai. We liked everything about this unit, and have booked it again for next year. The owners are local and Hawaiian. Decor and plantings next to the lanai are authentic and lovely. Everything you could want is here. Clean, well appointed kitchen, many thoughtful touches. Lots of beach toys, a cooler, comfortable portable chairs. Even a couple of flat rate postal boxes on the closet shelf. And an aloha basket with a lovely hand written note from the owners. And the rental office is pleasant, responsive and efficient. Love everything about this place."

"A Week in Paradise
Went to sleep each night to the sound of the waves and awakened each morning to birds singing and the waves rolling in. Sat on our lanai and watched whales every day during our March stay. Saw them swimming, breaching, tail-slapping--what a show! And the turtles came right up to the beach. The farmer's market across the street was fun with good food and we took home souvenirs from The Wit's End shop. The nearby Fish Market was excellent. A terrific stay at a comfortable and friendly location."

"Right on the beach
This lovely condo is right on the beach and sleeps 6 people. We saw whales jumping from the lanai. Green sea turtles swim and feed right in front of the condo and they even lie around on the beach. Good swimming and snorkeling beach right there. Even our teenagers loved it! "

"Location Location Location
This was not our first time staying at the Hale Kai #120. If you are not into the resort $$$ style vacation this is the place for you. Great little beach, cool place to snorkel, nice BBQ's and great little pool. Now the unit is a little out dated but is nice. The second bedroom with two beds can get a little warm at night because of no A/C. That is really the only bad things I can say about this unit. I will return and stay there again. "

"I recommend...with reservations
I've stayed in 4 units at the Hali Kai and visited in at least four others. I LOVE the location of #120 in the Hali Kai layout. The view out over the lawn to the water and sky is so beautiful. And the convenience of stepping off the lanai and having beach, pool, seawall, and other amenities right at hand is wonderful. I also love the additional light that comes from this being an end unit. My reservations are with the general state of the unit; it's looking quite shabby. Some of the problem is with indifferent cleaning - stains on upholstery, red Maui dust build-up on drapes, dirty vacuum and other cleaning implements. Other problems: torn, loose door screen, bottomed-out living room chair cushions, out-dated bathroom. These negatives did not "ruin" my stay, but I hate to see such a fab unit looking so tired. It really is time for a spiff-up. "

"A little gem
I'm hesitant to leave a review because I don't want to share our secret little gem! We've stayed at a few other places on the island, and this was our favorite so far. The best part of this unit was the view/location. Nothing like being at the beach or pool in just a few steps. The unit does need some refreshing, but is otherwise very clean. We had some things come up while there and we got help immediately from the office, without a problem. Kudos need to also go to the groundskeeper for working so hard and with such pride every day. We were pleased to find the unit actually had some extra perks like sand toys, beach chairs, cooler, and umbrellas (though the two we tried probably need replacing). If we bought property in Maui, this unit would likely be it. We had a great time, and we were sad to leave. "

"Hale Kai family reunion and surprise wedding!
We had a fabulous stay at Hale Kai over Christmas this year. We planned a family reunion type trip and my brother surprised us with a beach wedding the last night of our stay. We love the location of Hale Kai as well as the ammeneties such as the pool, close access to beach and turtles, as well as a grill and within walking distance to shops and a playground. Fabulous trip! We hope to head back again next year! "

"A big YES to Hale Kai
The accommodations were excellent. A perfect home base from which to enjoy the island. Completely met the family's expectations. Being our first visit to the Hale Kai, we were a little hesitant on the set up (not being a big a name resort.) The website pictures of the condo and the views represented were a match. What we saw online is exactly what we got. The place is appropriately billed as low key, relaxing and "old school" Maui. Walking distance to a variety of shopping and food. Only used the car when heading out to sight see or for island excursions. The private beach and pool were ours to enjoy at will. No fighting for lounge chairs or for space on the beach. The kids played for hours in the sand and waves.... just a few feet away from the condo. Perfect! "

"Hali Kai Hidden Gem
We spent 7 nights at the Hali Kai in unit 120. It was perfect for 2 couples and would be ideal for a young family.The unit is dated but vey well equipped.Ideally located on the private swimming beach within walking distance from fish, farmers market and I km from the Hanakali board walk. We enjoyed fabulous sunsets from our patio and huge turtles came up on the beach every afternoon to sunbathe. We would definitely return and recommend this gem to our friends AND the price was affordable. Val in the office was superb and gave us any missing supplies we needed for the condo. Arnold the grounds keeper kept the gardens, pool new Webber bar BQs spotless.The ground floor unit is quiet, sheltered from the Maui wind with gorgeous view of the ocean."

"Excellent condo with superb view
The view is great. There is no airco but the condo is very breezy so not needed. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The pool is average size but deep and you walk from your apartment into the pool. Excellent condo for people with kids. There are 2 BBQ in front which you can use. 5 min. drive to large supermarket. "

"A lovely wek with Mom
My sister and I came to this location because it was very easy for my 85 year old Mom to get around. It is on the ground floor with no steps. We al enjoyed the condo, the views, the area. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. The beds were comfortable. There are three different strip malls within walking distance for shopping and dining. There is a step into the shower but very manageable because of hand rails. I highly recommend staying in this unit. We also enjoyed the turtle playing in the surf daily!

Our condo was first floor, but still had a lovely view. Everything was in good working order. The place was exceptionally clean and well supplied with linens including beach towels.

"Fabulous location
We loved our stay in #120. We arrived to a very nice welcome gift. The place was so nicely equipped and set up perfectly for out family of four. All the residents were very welcoming, the turtles arrived daily, and we saw some whales breaching in the distance. A rainbow every day over molakai.Heaven on earth! "

"We loved our stay at Hale Kai Oceanfront Condominiums!
This was our first experience renting a condo sight unseen but it won't be our last. Our group was already planning our next get-together at Hale Kai before our vacation was even finished! The location was excellent--private and quiet but close enough to the resort area to enjoy all the shopping and dining that we desired. We loved being able to walk out our door and be right on the beach. We saw dolphins and sea turtles right there! The condo (Unit 120) was very clean and nicely furnished. The kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed and more than we expected. We will definitely be back!"

Hale Kai is definitely like a home away from home, but better. The unit we stayed in, 120, was furnished with "vacation-like" bamboo chairs and couches and the even the floors were bamboo. The whole place was clean and comfortable, we especially loved the huge king-sized bed. The office staff was friendly and the grounds were well-tended and beautiful. We will return as often as we can!"

"Paradise Perfect!
It had been many years since we stayed at the Hale Kai but it is still the perfect place to stay while in Maui! The condo was wonderful ~ we walked out our lanai doors & across a bit of grass, down seven stone steps & we were on the sand! It couldn't get any better. The sunsets were enchanting & we were fascinated by the sea turtles feeding on the reefs right in front of Hale Kai every day! The management staff are wonderfully helpful & so pleasant. We loved having the farmer's market just across the road and the fish market just down the street if we wanted to BBQ on the large BBQ's at the condo (overlooking the ocean while your meal cooks)!! We will be back to the Hale Kai, it is the perfect place to stay when visiting Maui!"

We had a wonderful vacation especially due to the wonderful accomodations of this unit. Loved the location. There was a basket of goodies with a note welcomimg us. that was so thoughtful and since we arrived so late the snacks were very appreciated by our family.
