"Very small and not quite clean condo
Guest tub had no plug so only shower was usable. Dining table was really in bad condition. Surface was tacky to touch. Condo very small and furniture very outdated. Not enough seating area. We were instructed to strip all beds, put a batch wading and wash, dry and save all dishes. Not sure what the cleaning fee covered. Would not recommend this condo at this time."

The condo is in need of serious updates. The sliding glass door in the living room wouldn’t lock, minimal kitchen cookware (the can opener is so rusted that it wouldn’t work), fire alarm was hanging from the ceiling, stains all over the carpet, dust all over the ceiling fans, and there was mold on the master bath shower curtain. "

"Had a great time, but unit not up to par.
This is our 2nd stay here, both times in The Inn 212. First time 3 years ago was great, the unit was in decent shape. This time it was a big difference, with the condo not being maintained or cleaned properly. Choose a different unit - my in-laws were on the 3rd floor at the same time, their condo was nice and appeared well-maintained.
Problems with 212: Sliding door to balcony not maintained, almost impossible to open (you want to go on the balcony, right?); lots of mold on shower curtain in master bath; exhaust fan in master bath making tons of noise; majority of furniture falling apart; bunk bed rails were broken (yes this is dangerous! The maintenance guy did come and glue together what was left, but when you choose to purchase cheap furniture you have to replace it regularly); vacuum cleaner dirt canister never emptied by cleaning staff - I went to vacuum and there was so much stuff packed in there that it didn't function, and I almost couldn't open it, I did my good deed for the day and cleaned it all out and washed the filter as directed but it was nasty; cooking pots and pans in poor shape and not many options. One additional problem with the building was that only one of the two pools had the heater working - they said it needed some repair, but the pool guy was there daily cleaning and no repair occurred, so everyone was using the one pool the whole week we were there, which was disappointing.
In summary, we enjoyed our stay, spent lots of time at the pool and beach. I recommend to choose a different unit than 212 that has been properly maintained by owner and staff. Hopefully pool heater is working when you arrive."

The location was wonderful. The condo was fairly clean except the carpets were stained. . Check in and out was easy. We stayed in condo 212. The kitchen and baths were nice. The master bedroom was nicely decorated. The living room chairs definitely needed updated. One was a leather like chair that was cracking and peeling. The other two were from at least the 1980’s and not comfortable at all. Also, the mattresses on both the king bed and full bed were not very comfortable. I would definitely stay again as the views were amazing and the close proximity to the beach was great, but I would pick a different condo. "

"Disappointed
I arrived an hour early and found the condo in the very early stage of being cleaned. Came back at 315 and it still was not finished. It was not finished until after 4. The carpet was disgusting and full of stains. We found an empty beer bottle by the bed and a pair of dirty mens underpants on the back of the sofa by the wall. The microwave did not work. Very unhappy."

"One and Done
It rained 5 days straight and hailed at night. Room 212 was perfect. We had plenty of room. The boardwalk is new but there is a foot of standing water about 10 yards that you trudge through to get to the brown foam colored beach. Many dead fish and lots of debris on the beach."

"We Will Be Back
If you are looking for top of the line luxury, this isn't the place for you. But, if you are looking for beach-cottage cozy, this is your place. The unit was very comfortable and met our needs. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Other than the weather, our stay couldn't have been better. The reasons for the 4 instead of 5 stars: the bar to the top bunk bed was broken and my daughter wasn't able to sleep up there and I did mention it to the property staff, there were a few dusty places mostly in the "master" bedroom, and the mattress in the "master" is in need of replacing. But, overall, it was a great few days to get away, and we will be back."

"We'll be back
Our family discovered Dauphin Island and the Inn earlier this year and fell in love with the laid back atmosphere. With COVID concerns we decided to forego our regular large family Thanksgiving at home this year and make a small trip with just our daughters and my mom instead. Unit 212 was a great setup for us with the full bed and twin bunks in the second bedroom and room in the master to setup a pack and play for our two year old. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens (no need to use one towel all week!). The shower in the master had great water pressure, but water came in one small stream from the showerhead. This wasn't a problem for us, but my husband did comment on it every shower so it could be an issue for some. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner and had everything we needed (though we brought our own disposable pans with us for casseroles). We were a little surprised the unit had carpet in the living/dining area and I would have been concerned about the baby making a mess at meals, but since we ate most meals on the balcony it wasn't an issue. The balcony has a table with six chairs so we even had Thanksgiving dinner on the balcony with the gorgeous view! Overall this was another great trip to Dauphin Island!"

"home away from home
This is the second time that we have rented this condo through Home Away. The setting is great and the condo is beautifully decorated and well maintained. We plan to stay there again next year. The only negative was the dryer...squeaky does not do it justice. But with the beautiful large laundry room we could just hang things up. Definitely worth the the stay and we will stay again!"

"Decent few days spent here
Our overall experience was good. Pools were nice, views from the room were nice, parking was secure and close. Things that were not so good were customer service prior to trip. They do not reply to emails swiftly, if at all. Room was OK, but not great. Room needed more kitchen dishes and silverwear. There was no hair dryer in the room for visitors to use. Dryer for clothes was OBNOXIOUSLY loud and squeeled! Bed was VERY noisy, you could not even sit on the edge of it without it making all kinds of noise. Would be nice if the area had more restaurants as well and a decent place to buy groceries."

"Dauphin Island 2019
We had a nice and enjoyable vacation. The room was nice. It wasn't super fancy, but it was clean and decorated nicely. The main sliding door was a bit hard to open and the bed was noisy when you moved on it. The kitchen was nicely stocked with pots, pans, cups, plates, bowls, and about whatever you'd need to live for a week. The place was quiet. The beach was not overly busy. We always felt safe and relaxed."

"Very Satisfied First Time Visitors
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at The Inn! The unit was beautifully decorated and truly felt like home. The kitchen was fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. The towels were plush and it was very convenient having a washer and dryer in the unit. There was plenty of storage and the rooms were spacious. The balcony was spacious and there was plenty of furniture on which to sit and enjoy a meal or just enjoy watching the ocean. We enjoyed being able to swim in the two swimming pools and walk down to the beach at our convenience. The beach was beautiful, well maintained, and my family was able to leave the majority of our beach gear on the beach each day without fear of it being taken or moved. One of the days we were there it rained, but we used this as an opportunity to explore the island, its small shops and eateries, and even the history of the island at the local museum. Overall, our stay was wonderful, relaxing, and we regretted having to leave!"

"Excellent Vacation!!
The Inn 212 is a beautiful condo very well maintained. There are plenty of dishes and kitchen utensils. The beds are comfy and the beach view is beautiful. The grassy yard in the back has 2 pools and charcoal grills for guest to use. Also The Inn is conveniently located to stores and shops.
We had 4 days of fun. Plenty to do on the Island although many are still rebuilding from the hurricane. The Pirates Bar & Grill is a must eat when you visit. Great atmosphere and variety of delicious food. I would recommend The Inn to all of my friends. "

"Disappointed
We love Dauphin Island, Have been going there for 12 years plus. And have stayed at The Inn before, but this time the unit, #212, was disappointing. It looked and felt "shopworn." Someone had used a strong cleanser on the dining table and the top was tacky and didn't feel very clean. The carpet also had spots on it and needed cleaning. It just was not up to the same standard that the last unit we stayed in. The kitchen looked like it had been re-done and was very nice, but the cooking utensils were well-used and needed replacing. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Dauphin Island at Thanksgiving is quiet and welcoming. "

"Can't wait to come back!
We came a day after hurricane Nate went through, and weren't sure what to expect. Happily everything was great at the property. The pools had some debris, but they were cleaned the next day. The beaches had debris also, but that is to be expected the day after a hurricane. Loved the unit- so clean. The bunk room was perfect for our daughters, and the master had an awesome view. The only small complaint that we had is that the master bed is horribly squeaky. Each time one of us had to turn over or use the restroom, the other was awakened from the noise. Not the most restful sleep. However, everything else was perfect and we can't wait to come back!! "

"Sadly disappointed
Loved the beach but not the room so much. There were roaches in the kitchen and flees in the bedroom. The living room sliding glass door was almost impossible to open. There were wet sheets in the wash machine. The grill was not clean and the lawn furniture was rusty. For the price we paid it should have been much better. I really didn't like having to stripe beds and wash towels before we left. What was that $94 cleaning charge for? The garbage shut was a smelly mess that was never cleaned the 5dzys we were there. Over all we had a good time but I really expected a higher standard. I would not stay here again. "

This is a wonderful unit for a group with teenagers. The unit has plenty of space, and is beautifully decorated. The kitchen has plenty of pots, pans, dishes and utensils. There are towels and wash cloths, as well as a large load washer and dryer. The pool area is gorgeous. The staff at the front desk are super friendly and helpful. This unit is an exceptional value for beachfront property."

My family really enjoyed our stay. The location on the beach is perfect. Just down from the public access, it's not crowded at all. The white sands of the beach are great and clean. It is a hike from the Inn so it would be wise to invest in a cart to haul all your gear (we are a family with a 7, 5, and 2 year old). The kids enjoyed beaks from the beach in the pool.
While the rental was great, plan on bringing food for a majority of your own meals. Food at many of the local restaurants was average. Also, many of the establishments are closed on Monday and/or Tuesday.
Overall, a great place to visit. Probably the best family beach we've visited. "

"A Nice Week at Dauphin Island
This was the first time we had rented a condo anywhere and overall it was a good experience. The furnishings were fine & the unit was clean, but a fresh coat of paint and missing artwork would increase appeal as well as replacing the pots/pans and knives in the kitchen. Otherwise the unit was nicely appointed and supplied. The view from this unit is great & we would've enjoyed the balcony more if the weather had been nicer. The biggest negative was getting pricing and responses from the reservations people. Finding restaurants open in early March is a challenge."
