"Nice house for multiple families
Walk to beach is the best attribute. Quiet community. Always enjoy our stay here. "

"Great Time at Pelican’s Place
Friends and I were able to spend some time in Port Aransas, and had a great time. The house is in the perfect location, close to Port A and to Corpus. We loved just hanging out on the deck and tower. The beach was clean, and not crowded. I hope to go back again soon. Thanks for having this place available!"

"Easy access to beach
The rental was clean, comfortable and well maintained. For our size group we used all the bedrooms. The only downside was 2 of the bedrooms were only accessable from the outside. The downstairs was like it's own self-contained unit. It was very nice. "

"Family Beach trip 23
Our family enjoyed our trip and the house was good. The flooring on the main floor needs work/repairs to avoid tripping but other than that it was a good stay."

"The “Keller Family” escape to paradise...
The Keller family trip to Port “A” was great!!! We had four perfect days at the beach... not a cloud in the sky!
We LOVE “Pelican Place”... it’s perfect for our family of eleven!
It was a comfortable home away from home!"

"Unclean and locked out!
The Port Escapes company requires a 4:00 check in. We checked in at 4:00 to discover that the first floor was locked and no key to be find. The Port Escapes company told us three different options to get in to find out in the last phone call conversation that there was a key to unlock the first floor. Called back at 5:03 and was given the after hours phone line and reported that we did not have a key. We were told by the port escapes after hours person that someone would call us back. Nobody called us back. We did not have access to the first floor which had to additional bedrooms that we paid for! Terrible management company and found the first floor dirty with dead bugs! Terrible place to stay! "

"Plenty of Space for Multiple Families!
Enjoyed the House! Plenty of beds and space for multiple families. Kitchen is stocked for all your cooking needs. Unfortunately, the beach access was a problem for us. This location only provides a walking boardwalk. note - no golf cart access. We Had canopies, coolers, toys so we had to drive to beach access 2 (2 miles) or beach access 1 (5.7 miles).
Bathrooms very clean, beds clean, kitchen clean! Living area needs some attention.

Overall, lovely house. But we will not stay here again due to location. "

"G-ma's last beach trip!?
Our mother is 90 years and has always loved the beach since growing up in California on the beach! She has leukemia and many health issues that come along with age. But....she is determined to carry on with our family traditions and one is always a yearly trip to Padre Islands! We chose this property so she would not have to climb stairs and it worked out perfectly! We love the Lost Colonies area and have stayed several times in different homes on property. It is one of the best and most convenient beach front properties for all ages! This is our family time and love the privacy to just enjoy each other!! "

"July 2022 Trip
This place is very nice!! This was our first time renting this place and we all loved it. It was very clean, easy to access, close to town but out of the way enough get away from the traffic and it had plenty of room inside and on the patio deck."
Jul 30, 2022 - BRANDON J., Allen, TX

"Disappointed
The biggest problem was the wasp nest INSIDE the house, on the living room ceiling. They came out promptly to spray the nest but we continued to deal with live wasps in the house for the remainder of the stay.

Other problems:
Internet didn’t work the entire time
Two televisions didn’t work properly
No blankets on the beds or in the house. The weather was very cold.
The house is outdated- not the luxury property that is advertised.

On the plus side, the location is great. I think the office staff was trying to help fix our problems but it was thanksgiving week, so it was difficult."

"Needs Attention
Pelicans Place is getting a little run down and needs some improvements. The plumbing needs attention, the 2nd level floor near the dinning room, feels like you might fall through in a couple of spots. The washer is extremely loud, the dryer was broken and couldn't be used. Maintenance came out and fixed some of the drain issues and tried to fix the dryer, but was unsuccessful. We had to use a local laundry to wash and dry our clothes, which took time away from our vacation.
For the price we paid, I expected everything to be in working condition. I recommend that someone does a complete walk through before anyone is allowed to stay at this location.
I wouldn't recommend this property until these issues are completely repaired. "
Aug 10, 2021 - Richard N., FORT WORTH, TX

"Family Trip
The home was very spacious and clean. We had adequate supplies . Furniture was comfortable and was plenty for all to sit comfortably. It was very quiet and the access to the beach was great . We had a great time . The home does have some structural issues that need addressed ."

"Port A Vacay
Great vacation spot for family of all ages!"
Jul 18, 2020 - , Richmond, TX

"Family vacation
The house was nice, however a couple of plastic patio chairs were cracked and pinched my leg pretty badly!! Also, we were never informed that the pool was closed and was one of the main reasons for choosing this property. I had my small grandchildren and wanted to enjoy the pool with them and did not know it was closed until after arrival. The house itself was very nice. Will be coming back next month and probably will choose another location for that reason. "
Jun 09, 2020 - Melissa L., Buchanan Dam, Texas

"Wonderful Company and Home
Booking was a breeze and the home was clean and large enough for what we needed. Would recommend. "

"Not a good experience!
Rented a home through VRBO thinking it was a rental from a homeowner, NOT Port A Escapes.
Terrible experience so far. If we could leave and find another place, we would. Rented a home for 13+ people for my moms 70th birthday toward the end of summer. Check in time was the only thing that has been accurate with this rental company. When we showed up, the floors in the house were still dirty and sandy. Roaches (of all sizes) popping up throughout the house. BBQ pit was not even recognizable as a bbq pit. Broken in pieces on patio. No beach access as shown and as it said in the description. We called the management company on our first full day here first thing in the morning and explained the issues... they said they were going to send over a pest company to spray while we were gone during the day and would bring a grill over as well. We went to the beach all day (having to reload our vehicles and trailer to drive 5-10mins instead is a simple walk), came back to nothing being done. Finally a woman in a pest control truck showed up about 5pm - we could not let her spray due to kids & baby in the home already. We had to borrow a grill from the neighbor just to cook dinner.
I think paying $1300 a night... we wouldn't have ANY of these issues. "

"Pelican Place review from June 26th, 2019
We brought our family of 6 adults and four kids down to port A for some fun on the beach and relaxation."
Jul 16, 2019 - , ROANOKE, TX

"Nice vacation
My only wish is that the house had a bigger kitchen and dining area. We had 6 adults and 5 teenagers and so we had to eat in shifts. Several adults in the kitchen made it difficult to work together on meal preparations. Otherwise, the walk to the beach was short and the decks were in the shadow of the house in the afternoons and it was very pleasant sitting outside in July. All days but one had a breeze that kept it pleasant and the mosquitoes away."
Jul 14, 2019 - , Huntsville, TX

"Great Place to Stay!
This home was the perfect set up for our group of 8 adults and 1 toddler. We didn’t use the room with 2 sets of bunk beds this trip but plan too in the future when we return with more grandkids! One issue we had the first night and next morning was that some of the breakers had been tripped and we didn’t have use of several outlets, microwave, TV. The breaker box is in the garage and the garage is locked and renters don’t have access. A phone call to Port A Escapes and a maintenance guy was there within an hour or two and corrected the problem. The bottom floor area does have a musty smell but having air freshener available will help with this issue. "
Jun 11, 2019 - , Salado, TX

"Great for large groups!
We stayed here with 3 families for memorial day weekend. We absolutely loved the house. Great sleeping options and open layout for socializing. A few outlets did go out during our stay and we couldn't find the breaker box. However, we notified maintenance upon check out and I'm sure they are taking care of it. I'd love to stay here again. Beach is visible from 3rd floor balcony. If you want to see beachfront from all levels, you need a house within Lost Colony closer to the front of the property. "
May 29, 2019 - Laura B., Corpus Christi, TX

"Wonderful!!!
We had the best time! House was lovely and very clean. Short walk to the beach. Great for the kids (ages 5,6,7) and the teenagers enjoyed having their own little private apartment. We will most definitely be back!! "
Apr 08, 2019 - , Piedmont, OK

"Great place
We made a quick fall run to the coast. The guys fished and the gals played on the beach. We had a great stay and enjoyed Pelican’s place. "
Oct 13, 2018 - , San Angelo, TX

"Family fun
We had a great time in port A. The House was very nice. The downstairs apartment was a little musty smelling, but clean. Great place to stay would recommend to friends and would stay there again."
Sep 25, 2018 - , Austin, TX

"Beautiful!
The house was perfect for our large family. Close to the beach and the pool was great to hang out at when we had enough of the beach but the kids weren't ready to quit playing! My daughter enjoyed the Nemo theme in the bunk room! We visited a few restaurants in 'town' and were pleased by all! Glad to see most have recovered from Harvey<3"
Sep 05, 2018 - Sonya P., Austin, Texas

"Awesome Stay!
This is our 3rd time renting Pelican's Place. Love the new renovations. Great value for space. We will stay there again. "
Aug 15, 2018 - Linda R., Boerne, TX

"Great time
We love the house the location was perfect! Plenty of space for 3 family's. Everything you need is there. Only bad thing was the mosquitoes where so bad outside couod even open the doors with fear they would get inside I don't know if was the time of year that we went or if they are always that bad it made it hard to cook outside they where so bad. Besides that has nothing to to with the home but just be aware to bring LOTS of off."
Jul 26, 2018 - Jackie S., San Angelo, Tx

"Family Reunion Port Aransas
We had a great time. The home easily accommodated all 12 of us. It was very close to the boardwalk, making a walk to the beach about 5 min. We had a couple of maintenance issues which were handled quickly by the rental company. One issue we had (a leak in the downstairs ceiling) did cause a problem and rather than let the maintenance people take care of it, the owner opted to have his own people fix it, which did not happen. We reported it the day we got there and were there a week. We called a couple of other times during the week, to let them know the problem was still there and getting bigger. Obviously the problem was much larger when we left than when we reported it. Besides which, one of our sons had to empty the bucket on a daily basis. I would recommend a week supply of garbage bags, coffee filters and dishwasher detergent. That is what we usually get for a rental. It makes no sense to purchase whole packages of those items and then have to throw them away. Also could have used a couple of extra bath towels and an extra sheet for a couch. Basically, a very good time in a roomy, nice home."
Jul 25, 2018 - Charlene W., Pateros, WA

"great accommodations!
Our whole family had a wonderful, comfortable stay at Pelican's Place. From us, the grandparents, to our 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, we all agreed that is is our best accommodations so far for our yearly trip to the beach..
"

"Good vacation
Was a very nice property, upon arrival there was an issue with the AC management a worker to move is for a few days while repair was completed. Overall was a great week."
Jun 17, 2018 - Russell M., Katy, TX

"June stay
AC was very good. When we arrived, the receptacles in the kitchen did not work or the microwave. Was fixed the next day. Pest spray guy arrived with property manager, I suggested they schedule a time when the rental was not occupied. It was difficult to spray areas covered with suitcases or clothing. Point, half dollar sized scorpion found next day on curtain in bunk bead bedroom. Exhaust fan not working in main level bedroom bathrooom. "
Jun 11, 2018 - Mark K., Norton, KS

"Another Great Vacation at Pelican's Place
This was the 4th time we have vacationed there with family and were very pleased with the upgrades that had been made since we were there two years ago. Another helpful upgrade would be to renew the decking on the main floor to avoid risk of splinters or stubbed toes. All in all a super time was had by all.

"Beach time 2017
This is our 3rd time staying in this house and we love it. "
Aug 16, 2017 - Terry G., Elmendorf, TX

"Home away from home
The vacation home was absolutely beautiful, comfortable, cozy and the perfect size for our family reunion vacation. Beautifully decorated, offers a great view of the beach from top bedroom. We absolutely thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!"
Jul 22, 2017 - Lisa N., Edmond, OK

"Great family vacation.
Outside of a shortage of bath towels, and an unexpected encounter with a centipede, we had a wonderful stay. Property is well located, beach was not very crowded and property was perfect for extended family. Two separate living areas worked well. Ocean view from top level was amazing. "
Jun 25, 2017 - Steve G., Waco, TX

"Great gettaway
We were a group of 4 families. A wonderful weekend was had by all. This beachhouse was perfect. Clean. Roomy. Comfortable. No complaints at all. We will be booking this house again. The staff was awesome and extremely friendly. Absolutely loved our stay."
May 04, 2017 - Lisa S., Houston, TX

"Fantastic!
My family and I had a wonderful stay, the location was perfect and the house was very clean and comfortable, very roomy."

"Geroge B-day get together
We had a great time with the family close to the beach. had a great time"
Aug 23, 2016 - George S.

"Would definitely stay again!
Great place to stay. Nothing super fancy but PLENTY of space. Great deck. Easy to get to the beach. The couches are old, that's my only complaint. "
Aug 16, 2016 - Lyndsey W., San Antonio, Texas

"Pelican's Place
House and location were great. The only problem we had was with the mosquitoes. We were unable to use any of the outdoor areas. I'm not sure anything could have been done about this. Otherwise, very nice."
Jul 17, 2016 - Timothy H., FLOWER MOUND, TX

"2016 Family Vacation
We have stayed a number of different places on the island, and this by far has been the best. The area on the beach was clean. It was not packed so the family could spread out and enjoy the day. It was a short distance to the beach and the pool was great for the young kids!"
Jul 11, 2016 - Tanya W., Christoval, Texas

"Perfect Family Getaway!
This is the second time we spent vacation in Port Aransas and the first time with our kids and grandkids in Pelican Place. We were a group of 10 with plenty of room to come together and still have private space as well. Our kids said it was the best family Christmas ever! "
Jan 30, 2016 - Lillian H., Hurst, TX

"AMAZING
We stayed there with a big group 14, 10 adults and 4 children and there was plenty of room and the house was spectacular. It wasn't very far from the beach at all and the view from the third story balcony was amazing! We are planning on coming back again next year and we will be staying here again! "
Sep 15, 2015 - , Corpus Christi, TX

"Weekend Stay
The overall stay was tolerable. When we arrived we found a huge water leak stemming from the water heater. This caused water to pour out of the light fixture over the washer/dryer. We immediately contacted the realtor when we arrived, but did not get a maintenance person out to fix the leak until the second day. During this time, part of the ceiling fell down. This made it very difficult for anyone to stay on the first floor due to fear of flooding or electrical shock. Other than this, the appliances need to be fixed and updated. The microwave was cracked and the refrigerator door would not close. The house itself is located close to the beach, but there is no access for golf carts. I think that overall this would not be a place that I would choose again."
Sep 15, 2015 - Stephen L.

"PELICAN PLACE
We had a wonderful stay at this house and the management has a great app. to help with everything. Beautiful views of the shore from the top deck, and a really short walk to the beach on the boardwalk. house was very clean with ample towels and utensils. A large washer & dryer helped our group a lot. The only bumps to the rental was, the fridge door was hard to keep shut,no hookups on t.v. in kids room for Xbox & video games, and no grill. Other than these three little probs., the house was a fantastic place for our vacation. The grandkids really enjoyed the pool after coming back from the beach. (On a side note, it is in a HOA, only 4 autos allowed in drive, with no street parking.) "
Aug 11, 2015 - ALAN M., Hurst, TX

"Wonderful stay
Could not be better"
Aug 10, 2015 - Dwight G., Boerne, Tx

"Family Time in Port Aransas
We rented our first beach house. We have always stayed in condos. However, our family has grown so much we now need a much larger space. This beach house was perfect for us. The kids and their wives and children slept in the downstairs apartment. The rest of us slept in the upstairs quarters. Place was clean, cool and comfortable. Close to the beach and the pool was small but nice. "
Jul 29, 2015 - Michael S., Lockhart, Texas

"Not what I expected!!
Fair warning for renters in the summer as soon as we got off our truck we were all attacked by mosquitos bring lots of mosquito spray... anyways I wasn't very impressed with this house as soon as we stepped in the house on the second floor there was a dead roach on the floor and another live one crawling on the wall talk about putting damper on everything...the first night we took a shower on the third floor and it started leaking onto the 2nd floor and the 2nd floor you could see where water had been building up in the ceiling on the 2nd floor and you could see black mold..we had to call twice for someone to come out and look at it... the outlets in the 2nd and 3rd floor bathrooms weren't working...a guess staying with us fell through a broken chair they had out side...some of the chairs outside were just wasn't what I expected ...on a good note the beach was in walking distance other then all the problems we had it was an ok trip "
Jul 11, 2015 - , Crane, Texas

"Family Vacation
Pelican's Place was Awesome!! Lots of space for the whole family, very clean well kept. Short walk to the beach and pool. We enjoyed it so much we plan to make this a yearly family trip! "
Jun 08, 2015 - Tracy P., San Angelo, TX

"Comfy and Homey
Although it was raining half the time we still enjoyed our stay. It was a quick walk to the beach, and the beach was very nice! The house was very comfortable and had a beachy homey feel to it. We stayed in most of the time and used the kitchen, there were 12 of us and it was the perfect size! We definitely will consider staying here again in the future!"
May 27, 2015 - Stephanie K., Kingsland, TX

"Great Place
The place was perfect, location was great. Almost like a private beach. "
May 19, 2015 - Beau E., Cedar Park, TX

"Eastet at the beach
Overall the house was clean, with pictures on website thought you could see the beach from house, no BBQ grill, had to purchase one. Would reccomend it to friends but explain that there are several flights of stairs on outside of house to get to each level of the house."
Apr 09, 2015 - Cathy H.

"Pelican Place for Christmas
Very comfortable house for 4 to 5 couples and their kids. Needed pot holders, and 3 barbecue pits were unusable due to rust. Texans need to grill! But otherwise very great Christmas vacation."
Dec 29, 2014 - , San Antonio, TX

"Great large group get a way
We had a Great Weekend"
Sep 17, 2014 - melissa e., san antonio, tx

"Summer Family Vacation
We had such a great time! The size was perfect for our large group and we actually liked having the space below separate from the main living spaces. The walking distance to the beach was nothing. Would definitely stay again."
Sep 10, 2014 - Christie B., Flatonia, TX

"Clean, quite, conviant, and comfortable, loved it!
We had three couples each wih small kids with no issues at all, everyone had a great time and were planning on going back."
Sep 09, 2014 - , Whitney, Texas

"A great vacation house!!
I stayed with a group of friends this past weekend and this home was great! It was very clean, air conditioner and all appliances worked, and it was very close to the beach. There is a boardwalk right on site that heads to the beach and is only a 3-5 min walk. I have stayed at a couple other places in port a and this one has been my favorite. I will hope to get this place again next year and recommend to anyone looking for a vacation beach house!!!"

"Family Vacation Spot
We had 4 families- 12 people staying 5 days at the condo at it was very accomodating sleeping quarters. The condo was clean. Nice short walk to the board walk to get to the beach. A few repairs need to be made though to maintain, such as the outdoor shower had a major leak in the hose rendering it useless, the garden hose had several leaks in it as well. The ceiling in the main floor bedroom/bathroom by the ceiling vent needs repair and possible mold removed around it. It was soft and wet like around the vent. Noticed that the furnace closet smelled very musty as well, not sure if there is mold in there or not. Overall the accomodations were very nice for our large group and would return again in the future. "

"Large house for several families
The place was very nice but I was a little disappointed in some things. The only way you could see the water was if you were on the 3rd story balcony. In the description of the house, it was not stated that you had to walk outside to get to the 1st and 2nd story. The laundry room was in the 1st story, so that was a bummer. This is not the house's problem, but there was a lot of seaweed when we were there. The pool we were to use was green, and the property management never called back when I left a message to complain. Overall the house was nice, but in the description of the property you should let your renter know about the stairs connecting the 1st and 2nd story and the view of the water. Also, the house sleeps 12 people and there is not enough parking to accommodate several families in the driveway. "

"Great House
The house was great and in a great location near the beach. It housed our group of 11 perfectly. The only negatives were the bottom level not being attached to the upper two levels. It would have been nice to not go outside to get to the main living area/kitchen. It also would have been nice if items like hangers in the closets would have been provided."

"Love it
This our second year staying in this house. We come once a year after last year we had to get this house again it has a lot of room and it's not far from the beach at all. Our family totally loves it we are hoping to be back again in July and we want the same house too"

"Wedding in Port A
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was nice and lean and in a good location. The problem was the a/c didn't work it was quite difficult to dress or the wedding in the heat, they also have a pretty bad sugar ant problem. The only other suggestion is to maybe leave some coffee filters and salt and pepper in the units"

"Everything top, but Lisa was incredible!
i interacted with a few ladies at the head office and all were exceptional. Lisa specifically was incredible and i was absolutely impressed with how flexible she was with me and my booking situation. thank you for making that happen!"

"Pelican's Place
We had a terrific time at the Pelicans Place. I would highly recommend this location to others considering a rental just a nit out of town. For us the location was perfect as we didn't want to be to close to the Spring Break crowds. The only negative I could say about this house was the disconnect from the lower lover. We had 5 couples in our party and two of them who slept on the first level had to go outside in the rain to come up to the 2nd floor main level to join the rest of us for dinner or just socializing. "

"Good place to relax
Only real negative was the distance to town. The kitchen had plenty of equipment, the beds were very comfortable and the furnishing were adequate for 8-10. The deck was huge. Had a great month stay and would do it again."

"Fall Down time
Our experience was very good. The property allowed everyone room to spread out. There are great views of the gulf from the top balcony. The boardwalk allowed access to the beach. It was great for our needs. "

"Pelcican's Place vacation 2013
Pelican's Place fit the needs for our party of 11. The pool was disappointing because it was so small and the water was very warm. The house was clean except for the floors, because our 11 month old grand daughter's knees were black after a few minutes of crawling on the floor. There was only one extra trash bag so we had to buy more bags.
The couches were old and were very uncomfortable to sit on. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were clean but only one towel per person, so we had to wash them daily.
We will not be staying there next summer, but overall we had a great time with friends and the space fit our needs. "

"Nice size but nasty kitchen
This house was the perfect size and layout for our family. It's location is close to the pool (pool is extremely small!) and decent walking distance from the beach. The disappointment came the first night when I began to prepare dinner for our group of 12. If a house sleeps 12 it seems there should be plenty of dishes for all 12 guests. AND the dishes should be clean. We washed all the dishes before we ate on them because they were all dirty. I did very little cooking as I had prepared meals and brought them just to heat up. This was good since even the can opener would not open a can! The disposal was full of: old stinky lemon rinds, a bottle cap and some pennies! How could house keeping miss this??? The last point on the kitchen is that the refrigerator reeked of the smell of old fish and the ice maker did not work. The house is old, but if cleaned properly we would return. The upstairs, where most of our time indoors was spent, does not cool properly. The AC should be replaced and there should not be a message taped to the front of the thermostat reading, "do not set below 72 or the unit will freeze up." Thankfully, the sheets and towels were clean. But we were given very few towels. Also, after a search for a broom and dustpan we found them downstairs in the laundry area....but they were at least 20 years old! Needless to say, we will not stay in this house on our next trip to beautiful Port A."

"Family Fun
The house was really good, there were a couple of things I would change if I could. The master bath was really small and had a wierd door. FYI-Found a live scorpion on master bed on Sun (still had one more night) my grand daughter left her quilt in one of the rooms downstairs, hopefully we will get that back and all will be great. All in all, a very nice house!"
Jul 31, 2013 - Patty S., Arlington, TX

"Great 5 BR beach house
We loved the beach house. The third level has the master BR all by itself with a private deck. That was nice.
The main living area is on level two with two bedrooms and a large deck.
My only complaint is the bottom level has a totally separate entrance from the rest of the house.
We were having an office retreat and that seemed to separate our staff into two groups who didn't see each other much.
But that would be a great arrangement for a large family who wanted to put grandparents or inlaws in a separate area.
Overall it was a nice house and I would recommend it. "

"Pelican's Place LCV23
We had 5 couples in our group, so enjoyed staying in a home with 5 bedrooms. Overall, we enjoyed the rental house and the rate was one of the best on the island for the space. The short walk to the beach was also a plus. Being away from town made the beach less crowded, which we "older" folks appreciated. Some areas of the house, however, need some help. The two bedrooms downstairs were adequate, but the beds were way too soft and not in great shape. The thermostat downstairs was set at 78 degrees and could not be adjusted. The smell of ant spray was very strong in the entire downstairs area. It was difficult for the two couples downstairs to go outside and climb the stairs to the second floor anytime we ate or wanted to visit. Also, when we first arrived, we had to open windows upstairs in an attempt to get rid of the extremely strong and stagnant smell of heavy cigarette smoke. After turning on the fans, the smell faded after a day. The sliding glass door in the bedroom with the bunk beds and upstairs with the king bed had several door blinds missing - which allowed the sun to come in early and no privacy at night in the rooms. In the bedroom with the twin beds, someone needs to do a little maintenance and trim the underside of the upper mattress which hangs down like cobwebs over the lower mattress.

The best bedroom is upstairs on the 3rd floor. It has the king bed, a small bathroom, and a sliding glass door to the upper deck, where parts of the Gulf of Mexico can be seen.

The entire home was very clean. I think the home is fine for someone wanting to be close to the beach and on a fairly limited budget. Personally, I would have liked to have had all bedrooms in the main house, things a little upgraded, and enough furniture in the living room area for socialization. "

"Wish I Would Have Known
No early checkin b/c the house was “being cleaned”. No one renting it days before us. wiped the floor after a spill; paper towel was BLACK. No mop provided so we bought one ourselves, didnt want our baby or other kids crawling around on that disgusting floor. Took 2 rounds of mopping. There werent enough cups or plates, no scissors, grater, etc. Downstairs area had NO kitchen supplies, minifridge was not very cold. We had the max occupancy & there for a week yet there were only 5 rolls of toilet paper, 2 rolls of paper towel, 3 trash bags provided. No extra bedding for the people sleeping on the pull out couches. Only 6-9 towels which doesn’t cover the max# of guests. House seemed run down, not well maintained. Windows that had blinds had many strips missing; no curtains or blinds on the rest. Furniture was old & dirty. It rained & water leaked in. With barely any towels we had to use our beach towels to stop the water. You cant turn the A/C below 73 or the unit will freeze. Temps were 80s & the house was warm. cant imagine staying there when its 100+. The mgmt co did NOT seem to know about the house. we called to ask about internet they couldnt give a definitive answer- changed our cell plan so we could work. Turns out there was internet w/wifi. Asked about BBQ pit, pic shows one, review stated there wasnt. They said there wasnt one so we bought a small one & packed it in our car. Photographer did a great job w the pics. House appears in the middle of nowhere when its in a neighborhood. You have to walk through the neighborhood then around a gate & through another neighborhood to get to the boardwalk. House itself is off the long stretch of road in between Port A & Corpus. No gas stations, stores, shops in either direction for 15 min. Both at check in & check-out there was no one avail to speak w, they were on the phone. We sent an email re the discount that was stated on their website but we didnt receive on our invoice. We have still not gotten a response"

"Great weekend getaway
We had 11 people, and it was plenty of room. There was a BBQ pit, even though they said there wasn't. You can fit 5 cars in the driveway easily. The porch speakers didn't work, but I managed to get one to work."

"Large beach house with lots of room!
The house was great. We had one major problem. Home maintenance, driveway work, sprinkler installation were all going on during our stay ruining several days of fishing plans. We still don't really know who to blame for all the trouble this caused but to the management's credit, they worked to make things right and we appreciated that. "

" Good Times Family Style
The property was great the management has the most wonderful staff.Overall I would stay at lcv 23 again because everyone who came raved about what a wonderful place it was."

"Not much maintenance
Several things inside and out of the house were in need to repair or replacement.
There were no blinds/curtains in the double bunk room which is where we had four little girls. We had to find something to cover that. Several of the blinds were missing in the master. the bath in the second floor b/r had several defects, exhaust fan etc.
There was no outdoor lighting for the steps going to the second floor. Very dangerous.
Exterior patio furniture on first floor totally broken. At least get rid of them. They were very unsightly and could not be used. Internet pictures not true. "

Can't wait to come back next year....we loves the location, the staff was great....only thing was there were a few light bulbs out and we called to get new ones and we never got them but other than that we loved the house and the staff was great"

"An enjoyable stay...
Our group was made up of 4 families--myself and my husband; my sister, her husband, and small kids; my other sister; and my parents.

We appreciated the proximity to the beach and the views. We also loved the outdoor deck, which we enjoyed taking in the ocean breezes every evening. It was very relaxing! :) Having that much space available to us was great, and the layout of the home was nice. There were plenty of towels available too.

Things we didn't like as much:
-Pictures show there is a grill on the property. Please note there is NOT one.
-A lot of the outdoor furniture is in very, very poor condition; some of it unusable entirely. We had to prop some of the plastic Adirondack chairs up against the wall when we sat in them to prevent them from cracking any further and dropping us.
-A lot of things were broken: the sliding blinds in the living room were missing most of their slats, the mirror in the turquoise room was cracked, etc. But I guess that isn't entirely unusual for a rental property.
-We found there were a LOT of mosquitoes in the area. The day we arrived, there were 4 or 5 of them on each of us at a time as soon as we got out of our cars! Once the breezes kicked in the next day, and the temperatures warmed up, it improved a lot. But just be sure to bring bug spray, especially walking around the boardwalk area...
-Dishes were interesting. The downstairs kitchenette had no silverware at all, and only a couple of wine glasses. There were, however, plenty of plates. You might do better to bring your own plasticware and cups. Also note there were NO paper towels provided at all, and only 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom, so we had to get the rest ourselves. For $500+ a night, we kind of felt like these things should be included.

Overall, we had a great time, and we would likely stay again. :)

"Nice place with a great layout for multi-family gatherings
We had a 3 family gathering this summer and everyone had a great time. The house has a 2 bedroom mother-in-law suite downstairs that makes for a good late night hang out room without waking up the rest of the house. The proximity to the beach and local access-way was fantastic. My only gripe was the lack of a BBQ. We made the 8 mile trip into town to buy one ultimately..."

"Nazi property manager
Pictures are a bit deceiving. The property is a lot farther to the beach. The only view of the water was from the 3rd floor. The property manager is very obnoxious. She rides her bike around looking for anyone doing anything wrong. "

"Early June Vacation
The Pelican's Place property is a very nice house with enough space for all 11 people in our party. My main issue is the fact that the television was out in the "apartment" downstairs. We had originally decided on another property but switched to this one after speaking with Patrick. I specifically asked about the number of television in the home and whether or not they have cable/satellite. I know this is not normally a concern on a beach vacation but we had two children under 8 and 3 men who wanted to watch the playoffs and my mother who was scheduled for knee surgery the next day and would not be doing alot of walking. My parents and another adult friend were downstairs in the apartment which has no indoor access to the main floor. Upon arrival there was a note saying this tv was out because of a lightning strike. It could be used for DVD only. This is information that would have been helpful upon booking especially since I specifically asked about tv. This made for a very unhappy mom. Additionally, the dumpster is quite some distance from the property. A place a little closer would be nice. Also, I asked, when booking, about the distance to the beach. It is a short walk but I was told that I would walk out the back door go 5 feet around the house and there would be the boardwalk. Now that does seem true for some other houses on the property but not for this one. Overall, we did enjoy the house but I felt I had been told a few things that were not quite true...."

"My Stay
Overall a great home. The house has plenty of space and was great for entertaining. The staff was very helpful. Just a few minor repairs and this would be a stellar house. I think the maitenance man needs to fix small repairs (ie: window blinds, light bulbs out, screen doors hard to open due to sand and salt, etc.) Like I said minor things, overall a great house and location. Will be on the top of my list for rental homes next time I go there with my family. Port Aransas is exactly the type of area I plan on retiring in. People are very laid back and freindly."

"Location, Location.
We stayed at the house for two days. The location is great. less than 2 minutes walk to the beach. Since we have kids younger then six years old, that is very important to us. Lots of seating area in the living room and huge deck is a plus. The only compliant that I have would be the AC unit. You can not turn it lower than 75, or the unit will freeze(That is what we have been told). so it is uncomfortable during the day since you can't cool down the house. Other than that, it is great. "

"Great for large families
This was the perfect place for an adult family reunion. Plenty of room and great amenities. Although a distance from the marina and hub of Port A, it was very accessible and the beach nice and almost private. Loved our stay!"

"Great Thanksgiving Getaway
Since we booked late, I feared that we might not find the perfect getaway home for the holidays, but this house was pretty close to perfect. Very roomy with a separate apartment downstairs. Very clean with a nice ocean view. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Truly a great escape."
