"Nice place, good privacy, multiple swimming pools
Relaxing place in good location. Not suitable for golf carts because there are no legal places to cross highway. Glad there were multiple swimming pools, with one larger one that includes a jungle gym. I put in several maintenance requests on Hospitality app with "Don't fix until after I leave" setting selected but they came anyway almost ruining baby's nap time so I hope they get that straightened out. Had an issue with non-guests parking in our reserved spots, towing company and management could each not do anything about it alone but they had to both be present in order to tow vehicles out of our spots."

"Check in Progress - FAIL
Received a text from PA Escapes the day of check in stating we'd get a text when our room was ready. Check in are at 4pm but in case the house was ready before they would notify. At 3:45pm I called to get status on the house. Lady said check in is at 4pm and to wait for their text for instructions. I called back at 4:45 & same lady said to go pick up keys & their office closed at 5pm. I told her I had been waiting for their text & said she no, this house we rented has physical keys. No code through a text. If this was the case, we could have gone to the office at 4pm to get keys and get checked in. What if I hadn't called at 4:45pm before they closed? Would they have called me and been proactive to let me know to get the keys from their night drop box? The entire check in process was a mess, unorganized, & no communications on PA Escapes part. I had to continue to call & received incorrect info each time. "

"Limits caught - Red fish Great trip
Had a wonderful time in Port A - Room very clean - breaker had tripped when we arrived and had no light in bathroom. Called maintenance - they were there in 15 min and took care of problem Pool was great. Lots of channels available on TV for downtime. "

"Quick Get Away
I have been promising my teenage daughter we would go to the beach, but with many circumstances out of our control it didn’t seem it would happen. We finally had a break and even with Covid I found a condo that would allow us to book two nights (Thank you Port A Escapes) and off we went.
The trip over was quiet and the staff at PAEs were awesome. The condo was clean and had enough items to make us comfortable besides needing a blanket. Which I went and bought at a local store. The only problem we had was the mattresses were hard as rocks and very uncomfortable. My daughter finally moved to the couch. I would not book this condo again just for that reason.
Pools and the grounds were very well kept. Everyone we met (even at a six foot distance) were very nice. We felt very safe on the grounds. Check out was easy and again the staff especially Harry were awesome "

"Super great condo but DID NOT LIKE ANTS (KIT & HALL BATH!!)
Very cute, clean, serviceable, good location to beach, but ANTS WERE A ISSUE. DID NOT REPORT IT UNTIL WE LEFT
BECAUSE WE SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM, SINCE PAYING ALMOST $1K FOR 3 NITES. THEY WERE ALL OVER EVERYTHING WE PUT DOWN ON THE COUNTERS. SORRY, WILL STAY AGAIN, BUT WILL MAKE SURE PROBLEM IS RECTIFIED NEXT YEAR. THANK YOU ALL!"

"Nice Rental
Overall, the vacation rental was pleasant.
The pros:
-Close to the town center, marina, and beach (all within driving distance but not walkable for small children).
-The pool area on the property is nice, and has a grill available to use.
-Two parking spaces, air conditioned, washer & dryer, very private.
-Wifi works well.
-Updated fixtures and decor, nice kitchen (we used it a lot), wicker furniture (not comfy), and memory foam beds (also not comfy).
Cons:
-The property was clean, but poorly. We found hair in the showers, the sheets on one of the beds had a large odd colored stain so we had to rewash those linens, and there was a roach in the dishwasher.
-If you use the washer, beware that it is LOUD, annoyingly LOUD. If you're a light sleeper do not run the washer while you nap or sleep at night.
-There were no linens provided for the sofa bed, and we were told they do not provide a blanket for the sofa bed. Still don't understand that logic. We did receive linens after calling for some.
-Also, no beach/pool towels are provided and only a limited amount of bath towels.
-The rental is very private, but so private that you get no natural light inside, and no natural air flow. That was a bummer since it was beautiful weather.
Overall, if I had to I'd rent here again, but honestly our next visit will be in a rental closer to the beach and with more natural light. I and my family understand that there is no perfect rental, but I think it's important for future renters to have the facts about what they're renting. Also, the golf cart rental company just across the main highway is highly recommended; as well as the seafood place next to it. "

"Ahoy Matey 102 Stay
This is a nice condo with lots of living space. The king size beds in the bedrooms are really nice. The pull out sofa bed is not so good, but it's ok. There definitely needs to be a bigger trash can in the kitchen and trash cans at least in the bathrooms. We were constantly having to take out the trash. The main downside to this complex is that it is on 361 and you're not allowed to drive golf carts on 361. It's pretty treacherous to try to get across 361 to the roads you can drive on. Nice place, just not convenient for getting to and from the beach especially when you like to use a golf cart to do that. Nice new place, just not as close to the beach as I like to be."

The condo was clean and had very comfortable beds. Kitchen was stocked with all necessary equipment. The only thing that could be improved is the trash can in the kitchen could be larger. Overall, my family had an excellent stay!!"

"2nd Annual PB102 Stay
We had an amazing time at PB102. The cottage was clean and well kept. The only concern was all the ants! When we arrived the carpet on the patio was covered with ants and they would not go away. We had to constantly spray the patio off so the kids could come outside. Also our parking spots were taken by the cleaning crew so we had to park at the hotel after a long day at the beach :(. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will be back next year. "

Property Condo was very clean and in excellent condition. Met our needs for the weekend. Enjoyed the close proximity to the pool and beach. Would recommend more grills by the pool or grills per condo. That was the only frustrating aspect of the trip was not having available access to grills."

We stayed in a cottage at Pirates Bay and it was fairly new, very clean with well kept grounds. I only had 2 gripes. 1- the pool needed to be cleaned and 2- the can openers did not work. Otherwise, I would definately recommend this place to everybody."

"A Pirates Life for Me
In all seriousness, Ahoy Matey is a great little cottages to stay in on your trip to Port A. The building is recent construction, 2011 I believe, and it looks it. Everything is new and crisp, with none of that Texas coast decay feeling to it. The management company was a delight to work with, first the online reservations are easy and intuitive, arriving to pickup the keys at the office I found very friendly people who are knowledgeable of the area. Patrick is the guy running the show there if you are interested in any extras (like buggy rental) be sure to ask him, he knows where you can at least find a relative deal. (It is a tourist town, remember). The only reason I gave 4 stars on the location is because the property is a bit far from the beach, though you could still easily walk there in 15 - 20 minutes. I would gladly stay at this property again."

"Great place for port a vacation
This is a great place to stay. Everything was nice and had everything you needed for a pleasant vacation. We really liked the private community pool and kids playground, along with several bbq pits. Only wish the check-in time was earlier. We arrived to port a at 1:00 and had to drive around with our luggage until 4:00. I would recommend this place to anyone, it is awesome!"

"Housekeeping are theives
Experience was good with the exception this is the 2nd year in a row I have left something of value in a drawer. I called the office and they sent housekeeping to see if my items where there. My items were there with the exception of the 1 item I really wanted back which was a bag with makeup and prescription medicine. Seems like you have thieves for housekeeping. I expressed my concern to the office when I called so I would expect one of them to go check the room and not send housekeeping. "

"Port A Getaway
We usually stay at the Beachhead but they were booked the weekend that we went. This was our first time at Pirates Bay. We liked it. The only thing is that there is so much traffic on that main street that it is difficult to get in and out of the property. "

Beautiful property Ana Port A Escapes wad great to deal with. My only complaint is that the pools were not clean so we did not get to use those. Getting sun was one of the main reasons we came to Port A, so that was disappointing. But the overall experience and rental unit were great. We would definitely come back!"

We had a great stay at Ahoy Matey. The house was very clean..that is a huge deal for me! There was everything you needed kitchen-wise, all in new condition. Supplies & linens were plentiful. We rented a buggie, which made our stay very fun & having the extra parking spot for it was helpful. The only bummer was that the pools were a bit warm, but that is hard to avoid during August in South Texas! They were very nice, though.."

Everything was great... nice place, good location with the exception of the beds. Both of the beds were extremely hard... got very little sleep. This was the consensus of all three people that used the beds. The sleeper sofa wasn't much better... it was lumpy and you could actually feel the springs. Sorry to be a downer... great place, but wouldn't rent it again because of the beds."

"Fabulous Beach Vaca!!!
This was a new place for us so wasn't sure what to expect but WOW we were so delighted in Pirates Bay! The place we stayed The Ahoy Matey was awesome. Best of all it was really clean! I loved the outdoor sitting area where we had coffee ever morning. We were only minutes away from the beach, stores,resturants and shopping. I have already recommended this place to my friends and family. It's also pet friendly which is a huge plus for me.Thanks to Port A Escapes Ms. Brenda for finding us this remarkable place in such a short time. We Loved It and can't wait to go back."

"Why would a guest bring garbage bags?
I was happy with the property until I discovered that while staying at a high end property, I was expected to not only provide toilet paper & garbage bags, but if I didn't take my garbage out back, I would be fined $50.00!!!! I have stayed many places & have never encountered this. I will not recommend this property for this reason."
