Oyster Pond Beach Information

Oyster Pond is located on the Caribbean Island of Saint Martin. The northern half of the island is a territorial collectivity of France, while the southern half of the island is a constituent country of the Netherlands called Sint Maarten. And to add to the dual nature of this island, one side borders the Caribbean Sea while the other borders the Atlantic Ocean.

Oyster Pond is a city that spans the French-Dutch divide on the Atlantic side of the island. This quiet beach getaway has a community atmosphere. Oyster Pond beach houses are treated to Atlantic waters that are sheltered by a reef, calming the ocean waves as they approach the shore. The water here is a little choppy for swimming, but this makes Oyster Pond a great place for boating, and many Caribbean cruises and sailing tours use Oyster Pond as their starting point. Captain Alan's Boat Charters, on the Sint Maarten side of the boarder, offers boat tours and snorkeling excursions. Their knowledgeable captains treat guests to incredible tours of the Atlantic, and this is considered a can't-miss attraction if you stay in an Oyster Pond beach house.

While the beaches at Oyster Pond are best enjoyed by watercraft, there are 37 beaches on the island, many of which are swimmer-friendly. Grand Case Bay, about 30 minutes from Oyster Pond, has calm, clear waters perfect for swimming. It also has a popular dive destination called Creole Rock. Orient Bay, about a 20-minute drive from Oyster Pond beach houses, is a popular tourist beach with watersports and shopping. This beach is locally famous as one of the only beaches with a clothing-optional section. Great Bay, in Phillipsburg, is bordered by a promenade with shops and restaurants. It seems that each of these many beaches has different characteristics and atmosphere, so you can choose a new one every day that suits your plans and mood.Overlook St. Martin
