Surfside Beach Beach Information

Surfside Beach, Texas - Directly south of Houston, along the Gulf of Mexico, is Surfside Beach, Texas. Surfside Beach beach houses lie an hour southwest down the coast from Galveston. This beach village is a small-town contrast to the bustling Galveston, but Surfside has a lot to offer to its beach house residents.

Surfside Beach lives up to its name. The waves here consistently offer some of the best surfing along the upper Texas coast. This is due to the close proximity of deep ocean waters-only 8 miles offshore, as opposed to 35 miles offshore of other nearby coastal hotspots-which supports maximum wave size as the swells roll in. The best surfing area is about half a mile north of the Surfside Beach jetty. So if you love surfing, a Surfside Beach beach house near Texas Street will be your sweet spot.
Boating at Surfside Beach is a breeze. Due to the abundance of marinas, boat ramps, and boat launches, getting out onto the gulf for a day of boating, fishing, diving, jet skiing, or water sporting is fast and easy. If you don't have your own boat, several charter companies are available to make your fisherman dreams come true. Cowboy Charters is a local and kid-friendly favorite, with knowledgeable guides who know the best spots and help their groups haul in massive catches. Charter groups have been known to catch the limit of red snapper and king mackerel.
Despite the adrenaline-packed fun of surfing and water sports, Surfside Beach is very relaxed. This small community moves at a beachfront pace, and the beaches don't feel overcrowded. The mile-long jetty is a great vantage point from which to view dolphins playing in the waves, and pedestrians wander the beaches collecting a variety of beautiful shells (over 600 species line the beaches in the county) and hunting for crab.
If you're looking for a small-town beach community that offers big-time beach adventure, consider a Surfside Beach beach house.
