Poponi Cottage is a private studio apartment 100 paces from a mile-long, deserted pink-sand beach. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, Poponi is located on the second floor with a garage beneath. Water views are available from the balcony. Poponi Cottage shares a 4 acre beachfront estate with Poponi House. The house and cottage have good privacy from each other. There is great snorkeling off our beach! Two beachfront restaurant/bars are walking distance down the beach: Unique Village, 10 minutes, and La Bougainvillea 15 minutes.

Poponi’s kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range, full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, blender, and toaster. The sleeping area is a queen size bed and a full bath with walk-in shower. The comfortable living area has a TV, DVD, cable & WiFi. The double glass doors open to a balcony with chairs, grill and outdoor dining table. There is an outdoor shower downstairs. The cottage is fully air conditioned.

Poponi Cottage is centrally located near the settlement of North Palmetto Point which has several grocery shops, pharmacy and restaurants. The historic town of Governor's Harbour, the main town on the island, is a ten minute drive from the property. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, banks with ATM’s, gift shops, liquor stores, dive shop, bakery, and half a dozen excellent restaurants. One or another of the restaurants/bars will have live music almost every night of the week. You can also buy the fresh catch of the day to grill at home from the town dock.

We love children but unfortunately this house is not suitable for kids, so we do require all guests to be age 18 or older.

"Poponi Vacation Review
I'll start by saying, I would absolutely return to this location for vacation. It was exactly as described and from what I could tell one of the nicer locations to stay. The cottage was just enough for my fiance and I. It was so cozy and included all the amenities. The best part was the beachfront. The beach looks like the picture...perfect. We only saw a couple of people here and there on the beach making it feel like our own private beach. Missy was very kind and was available if needed. Two thumbs up!
Tip: definitely rent an SUV, the secondary roads are more like trails. The island is very expensive so be prepared. Directions around the island are not great, especially the first couple of days. Lastly, the food truck next to Burrows store has amazing sandwiches and salads for decent prices. "

"Paradise found
We searched online for an island paradise and found it on Eleuthera. Poponi Cottage is exactly as described in the posting! The accommodation is perfect for a couple. The gentle breeze in the evening means you don't need to use air conditioning. The beach is in front of the main house and a 2-minute stroll from the cottage through lush vegetation. The landscaping is well manicured and invites leisurely evenings on the deck. The private beach is beautiful and sandy, perfect for swimming or lounging. We stayed for 10 days on this trip and hope to make it longer next year. Our host Rick was very responsive to the few requests we had because everything was set up to allow us to have a turnkey experience with just the right amount of privacy."

"Enjoyed our stay!
This was our 4th trip to Eleuthera. Our goal was to explore as many beaches as we could. Poponi Cottage worked out great as our home base. We enjoyed the easy access to their nice beach. Missy was very helpful. It is a nice reasonable place to stay for 2 people. We would also be interested in their bigger rental, Poponi House, if we come again with another couple"

"A dissapointment
The property was not as listed. It did not have air conditioning and therefore the air in the unit was stale, hot and humid. The host was not apologetic but rather confrontational and dismissive of our complaint. The experience greatly diminished our vacation which we had planned and looked forward to for a long time. It was so uncomfortable that we were forced to leave."

"It's a garage apartment, but nice on the beach
This garage apartment is located behind the main house. The stairs are a little steep, but the apartment itself is well appointed and clean. It has a deck high enough to overlook the main house and see the beach. My son and his wife actually stayed here, while my wife and I took the main house. For additional space, it worked well.
Rick was a great host. Only saw him when you needed him. I would suggest having a dinner game plan prior to arrival. The road is quite dark, and some places are only open a few nights a week. Tippys is good. Beaugonvillea is walkable up the beach, but be prepared for the price. We were there for a couple of weeks, so we tried everything. To be honest, the best diinners were going to Island Farm for spiced chicken and vegs, then cooking on the grill.
Most beautiful beach I have ever seen. That overcomes a lot. "

beautiful airy space, decoratedwith lovely antiques a nd wicker withall the spices and coffee filters provided and. as bonus form especially a cat who came when I
called followed me to the gorgeous beach and exploited me and the owner
ruthlessly for food. One mile walk down beach to the bougainvillea hotel
with great food. Short drive to Tippy's restaurant which unfortunately has become quite fash and lost some vid shack on the beach charm.
and slightly longer drive to the bucaneer who had divinely expensive crawfish.

it was spotless don't be put of by the pededtrian exterior the room is spacious light and beautiful and every night I listened to the waves snd gazed at the stars from the deck. Rick was wonderful and available when needed and left me to my own devices otherwise

"Great spot for couples
unfortunately it my wife broke her leg and I ended up going with my son. They graciously provided a mattress we could through on the floor. Breezes kept us cool at night. We were out all day every day exploring and snorkling and ended up never needing the AC. While it wasn't the romantic escape with my wife i planned my son and I had a blast. "

"Poponi Cottage Stay in February
We had a truly amazing stay at Poponi Cottage. The beach was gorgeous, the swimming excellent, and the accommodation spotlessly clean and very comfortable, including a very functional kitchen, a bbq, and super comfortable bed. If you enjoy a hands off approach by the owners, this is a good place for you. Note, while the beach is very close, you can not see the beach from the property (although you can hear the water), and there is a bigger property right in front. That said, there is an awesome shady hammock right by the beach. The only things I would recommend are: replacing the cracked lounge chairs on the terrace, fixing the AC, and providing a cellphone (it seems easy to get a SIM card, but really nice if you don't have to worry about that). Fortunately it wasn't that hot, we managed to get in and out of the chairs without falling through them, and we didn't need to make any calls! We have no hesitation in recommending the property."

"Awesome island escape
We loved our stay at Poponi cottage! The central location was great for exploring Eleuthera's many beautiful beaches and the Poponi property - with the hammock, cabana, and the beach just steps away from the cottage - was perfect for relaxing away from it all. There is another guest house on the property but most of the time we felt that we were on our own deserted island. What an incredible island retreat, we only wish we could have stayed longer!"

"Heavenly Tranquillity
Hoping to avoid the noise and good-time frenzy of typical big-resort holidays, my partner and I chose to spend a week at Poponi cottage. The studio, containing kitchen, bathroom and bedroom in one large, airy room, was charming and well-appointed, as well as spotless and private. The exceptionally beautiful and secluded beach was a stone's throw away, providing us with long walks across coral sands, energetic swimming, and the frequent impression that we were the only people there.
