"Fun Labor Day Weekend at Palm Island
Quiet, fun, relaxing and comfortable weekend at Palm Island Resort. Our unit was very large, clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the beach, pool and using the grills. Rum Bay restaurant was also quite nice. Our favorite was scooting around the resort and the entire island in the golf cart."

"Can’t beat this view
This resort is special, no doubt. The location, idyllic &view, perfect. The condo is spacious &comfortable & equipped with all the essentials in bathrooms &kitchen. The beds were comfy and the upstairs loft is fun for kids. Please note that although the upstairs can sleep 3, it doesn’t have any privacy whatsoever. It’s completely open to the area below &noise from the kitchen travels straight up to those sleeping. The condo overall is outdated and in need of repair. The A/C for example did not cool properly in the primary bedrm &a sink in the main bath was constantly dripping. The most obvious issue was that the front porch was blocked off due to a missing guard rail. They built a make shift fence to cordon it off but this should have been a top priority to fix before renting out the unit, especially for us w/two small dogs & a child. The entire resort is still amiss from the hurricane. There are trucks &construction vehicles driving around the property which worried me when taking a bike ride with my daughter. A main attraction of the resort is that no motor vehicles are allowed. Seems that they are trying to get things back to normal but until then, the rental prices should reflect the current condition of the resort. My main issue was the lack of cleanliness in our unit. Floors in the kitchen had crumbs when we arrived, bathroom floors were not clean and the base of the toilet bowl had grime and what looked like mold forming. The unit needs a deep clean for sure. In spite of these issues we did have a great vacation because you simply can’t beat this beach! The water temp is perfect, it’s clean &clear. You can see small fish,hermit crabs &an endless amount of large, unique shells! The beach is the star of the show &you have it all to yourself! A close second is the resort staff. Everyone we met was amazing. Friendly, polite, helpful and happy! From check in to check out it was smooth. Hats off to the bellmen team! Hope to visit again "

We enjoyed our short 3-nite stay. The villa was clean and comfortable for 5 friends visiting for a wedding. Short walk to the Gulf to swim. Our only complaint is the tv did not work. There were no directions on how to get the tv to work. Also front desk never answered the phone whenever we called for questions. Not good if we had an emergency!"

"Short week at a beautiful beach
We had a lovely 5 days at the beach! The villa was conveniently located with easy access to the beach and the pool. We also very much enjoyed golf cart rides around the island after coming in for the day. The furnishings of the home are a bit dated, but with three younger children, that suited us just fine. "

"A Villa With A View
Our family and I had a fantastic time. My only complaint was the enormous amount of mosquitoes in the evening. We also had an issue with renting the golf carts. My nephew was told that there were no golf carts available. So we had to wait till our third day on the island to get one. Villa 2424 was incredible. It had a fantastic view of the ocean. It was clean and spacious. The staff on the island were very courteous very nice people. "

The resort and island are beautiful. Our particular rental is in need of updates. The living area furniture is very worn down. The kitchen and decor is very outdated and showing a lot of wear and tear. But our family enjoyed our stay. We were there for a family wedding. "

We love Palm Island and this unit didn't disappoint. It was spacious and well decorated and the view of the Gulf was amazing. It was dog friendly too. The dishwasher didn't work but maintenance at the resort is always responsive. We highly recommend Palm Island Resort and this unit was lovely."

"This place is paradise!
We loved the layout of this condo and the view is spectacular. The beds and couches were all comfortable and cute. The kitchen was well equipped and the staff on the island were all helpful. My on,y suggestion is to have a larger dining table either outside or inside.
We played tennis and did a clinic with the pro Art. He was fantastic and the courts were great. We used the pool, hot tub, grill and they were all good. Golf cart rides around the island are always a favorite activity as well as shark tooth hunting. I brought 5 first time guests along and they were all in awe of the beauty and nature of the island. Can’t wait to book our next stay!"

good morning ,
the ladies at check in could not have been nicer. They certainly understand how important it is to make people happpy and retain customers.
we had a issue with security . we had three families and about 10 kids. 7 of the kids were over 16 and drove the golf carts. at times the kids did explore and go in the mud but there was no damage to property or the golf carts . security found it necessary to follow the kids everywhere and the first day threaten to take carts back . i think security should have tried to bond with our kids and taken a different approach . this made the trip less enjoyable . "

My family and I have been coming here for 25 year, since I was a child, my whole family hasn't been in 11 years, I purchased this trip for my entire family for Christmas and everyone in my family came including our significant others ( all for the first time), everyone had the absolute best time and the resort was just as we all remember as kids. Palm island holds a special place in not only my families heart, but now in our wives and husbands as well. Thank you Palm Island and the employees for making our trip a memorable one. "Relaxing Christmas
We really enjoyed the Island as a whole. The Bell Staff was great and helped us with all of our luggage. The beach, grounds, kayaking, and Rum Bay restaurant were great for a family vacation, however the unit we rented 2424 is need of some paint, maintenance, and a good cleaning. The comforters were not clean, one had old food dried on it. We would recommend Palm Island for vacation just not our unit. In fact we live so close that if we stay at Palm Island again we will come and see the unit that we want to rent in advance. I understand that they are outdated but the property should have been cleaned and the toilet seat should have all of its parts."

"Please give us a reason to stay
Next year will be 30 years for our family, we are roughly 40 people and get 4-5 units each year. We never receive any incentives for our loyalty or for the large group we bring each year. Our unit had one towel per bathroom and never received the extra towels we asked for. When my sister in law asked for extra dishwashing liquid, she was told she was given the standard amount! This island holds a lot of sentimental value for our family but we do entertain the idea of moving our reunion each year. We would love for our children and their children to continue our tradition at Palm Island but fear they won't be able to afford to. We booked last year before we left for the following year, but seeing as this gets us nothing, we did not do that this year. Your staff is always very friendly, but I would like to see a little more appreciation for our loyalty. I don't feel like you care if we come back next year or not. Last year, all of our credit cards were compromised on your island and we actually had a hard time with your staff instead of your apologies and hearing that you would do anything you could do to help us with this matter. We will get tired of this and find another spot to create our memories if things like this keep happening. It is very expensive to spend a week on Palm Island and I am sure we could find something cheaper. I hope this helps and we can find a reason to keep coming to Palm Island and our memories on Palm Island can continue for our children and their children."

As always personell is awsome! Warm and welcoming. The villa was well equipped. The view was outstanding. Property condition was mint. Chairs need some repairments also need some paint. (I paid last year $1400 for a 2,400sf ocean view 3 BR suite@Ft Myers and was state of the arts) Please keep it nice. Still a quiet paradise for me so I will be back."

Had a very nice vacation here. The limited ferry rides were not what we had been told and that was somewhat of an inconvenience. Also some of the staff were short, bordering on rude (from the place that you rent golf carts). Our golf cart was also in bad shape."

"Great Family Vacaation
The only thing that I would say I was not as pleased with was the interior of the unit. We were in unit 2424 and it was a little dated. The carpets were very old and tired looking and the furniture in the living/dining area was VERY old looking. Other than that, it was GREAT. Had a very good time. The staff everywhere were very friendly and efficient. Will definitely return in the future like we have for the past 25-30 years."

I feel as if the information given about the place and the information given to us was not done very well. The information about the golf cart made it sound as if it is part of the stay. Communication about things like, garbage take out, whether or not service is provided in the room. Accidently came across that information on last day. The staff in the restruarnt was poor service. Felt as if our server did not like his job at all. Not friendly or good at his job.
ALSO VERY CONCERNED THAT the unit we were staying in maybe infested with bed bugs or someother biting bug. Because all 8 of us in our unit have been suffering from horrible bites all over our bodies. a couple of them noticed the bites after the first night and everyone just got worse. However, we thought everything was beautiful and was happy with the stay.

"Family Getaway
It was very relaxing, but a few things to consider. Walking to the ocean is not very clean,it should be more maintained. There are no pathways since everything is covered with little trees sort of uncomfortable, the bridges are not well kept. The pool was not cleaned during our stay there. At night, my mom fell and we did not see the patrol anywhere. The villa was very spacious, but it was not as modern and well kept as it should be. Never saw housekeeping. Called to eat at the restaurant outside the island and it had closed since there was few people. Golf carts should be complimentary with your stay at the hotel, because without one you can't move. Personnel at the lobby and bellman were nice, it just needs maintenance. It's definitely different than a hotel stay."

"Great get away for a few days
The location could not have been better. The view was terrific and the beach, pool, and tennis were steps away. It's a bit of a hassle to unload your belongs onto a golf cart and then get it to the property (especially when traveling with small children), but it's nice not having cars on the property. We ate at the restaurant 2 nights and both experiences were very good. Wish the store/ice cream shop was open later than 6 PM. Overall a relaxing time with family. "

"Family Christmas Vacation.
We found the unit, which we have stayed in before, as needing some updating, especially the carpeting and bed linens. The office staff couldn't have been more thoughtful and helpful. They (especially Marty) assisted us whenever possible. We have been visiting Palm Island for about 15 years, and we will continue vacationing there in the future.

"No better way to spend a 3-day weekend
We were a group of 3 couples attending a wedding weekend on the island, and we rented a 3 bedroom villa. The unit was beautiful, fully stocked with dishes, blender, coffee maker, utensils (which we weren't anticipating) so all we needed to bring were groceries! The unit was the perfect size for us. I have had the pleasure of staying in a private home on the island, so this was my first time renting. I would (and will!)do it again in a heartbeat. The staff at Palm Island is nothing but friendly and extremely helpful, I can't say enough about how wonderful every staff member we encountered was, and how welcome we felt. Memories of our weekend will last a lifetime!

The rental was in great condition, however, the condition of the hot tub in the pool area was so disgusting it made my skin crawl. The pools and hot tubs should be scrubbed by maintenence, not just chemicals added. The brown disgusting condition of the hot tub is making me seriously consider not coming to the resort again, and we have been coming for years. "

We love Palm Island. My family has vacationed on Palm Island since the early 80's. The loft bedroom layout does not work well with our family - we love the Lands End Cottages - they have 3 actual bedrooms with doors! I would like to see the whole area be wifi not just the area by the recreation center. The Beach is wonderful and we found lots of shells. Red Beard is great with the younger kids. "

"After 12 past stays there; this was TOPS - all our daughters came along for wife's 70th birthday
Were so surprised that the villa had 4 bedrooms ( rather than 3 ) The beach is the best we've seen. Collected 318 shark's teeth among 6 of us. Great time at the bar before dinner. Was raining a little when we arrived on Friday at 4 - went right to the bar had a ball. Then back to get luggage from cars. Then to Rum Bay to eat. the $9.99 AYCEat fish was fantastic. And the price; since I was paying for all 6 dinners. Ha. Sat and Sun. great sunny days; lots of beach, pool, fishing at Stump Pass. Cooked out 6 steaks. Up late playing cards with wine
Anyhoooo, all was worth every penny. A great deal for the price !!! We will be back soon;; hopefully, in April.

We have come to Palm Island every year for 25 years (except for two-one when my son was born, and one when my parents had a 60th anniv. party. It takes something REAL important to keep us away). My daughter got married on Palm Island last year. We LOVE the place. One problem this year - the rats in the unit were a bit disconcerting. We saw two, both of which were eventually eliminated with traps. I thought they were big mice, which was way better than finding out that they were small Palm rats. I realize that pests are a problem everywhere, but the maintainence person told me that they were aware of the problem and not yet been able to eliminate them.
We already made reservations for next year. Hopefully, the rats will not be there!

Some updates are needed in the unit we rented: The carpet was in need of replacement and some of the blinds did not function properly. The main problem we experienced however, was the hot water heater- 30 gallons for 8 people
is not adequate! Also, the loft is totally open so although there are beds for 4 people there is NO privacy! Also we feel it is wrong to advertise yourself as a resort and then charge guests to use the workout equipment. Please, even cheap motels let guests use a workout room for free! Also, it is wrong not to provide one ferry pass per day. A group of 8 needs to be free to go to the grocery store, drug store, etc. once a day! All this said, The location was great and we had a wonderful time."
