"Fun Family Vacation
Stayed at this property for a family spring break vacation. Overall it worked well for our family of 5. The location was great - pool right outside the building and a very short walk to the beach. We appreciated the amenities of the resort such as the Coconuts general store (although don't expect much selection) and the fitness center. The condition of the unit was good - not great. It was lightly updated at some point, but there are nicer units as far as updates. Overall, it had what we needed, and it worked well for our vacation. "

"We love Palm Island Resort
We usually stay at the Harbor villas but the one we were scheduled to stay at wasn’t available. The staff were so helpful and found us two units to stay in on the island. Both were very nice and we were very pleased with how comfortable the beds were.
We like staying with Palm Island Resort because the villas are always nice and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Note- we have been unsuccessful at booking a unit for February 2023. Can you help us?

"First Timers
We loved Palm Island! However, our unit 3213b could use some updates. We killed 5 cockroaches during our stay. The sofa is stained and sticky. The master shower is dingy and just doesn’t feel clean. We did love the big dining table, it was perfect for family game nights. The kitchen was well stocked and had what we needed. A bigger trash can would be helpful. The outdoor table top is not connected to the base, our daughters finger got pinched bc of this. The vacuum didn’t work, turns on but doesn’t pick anything up.
We were disappointed kayaks and paddle boards weren't available, the website advertises this and we were looking forward to it. The staff at coconuts seemed put out when we asked for an umbrella and seemed like there was only one available each day.
We would return, but stay in a different unit. "

Overall we had a great stay. However, the unit was old with peeling paint and very tired finishes. The unit could use some maintnance and TLC. We would recommend Palm Island as a Resort, but looking at other units with more upkeep and nicer finishes for the amount of money that is charged. "

I was so looking forward to a few days away on this beautiful, pristine beach. I rented a two bedroom villa and I cannot express how disappointed I was. Bedroom lamp broken, ancient appliances, dirty rugs, wallpaper coming off in the kitchen, dirty sofa with tears in the pillows. Need I say more?"

We loved Palm Island and found the week to be extremely relaxing. The beach is beautiful and the views were amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The only reason for the 4 stars was the unit itself. Although it was clean there were a number of maintenance issues. Nothing that we couldn't live with but it made the unit feel a bit weathered."

"Riding’ out the storm...
Great time as always.
We have come to Palm Island since 1983 ( then it was The Island Harbor Resort, followed by The Sea Palm Resort ). This year we rode out Tropical Storm ETA, after sitting in our vehicle for 6 hours waiting for the ferry to start running again, to get to the resort. No power for about 24 hours, but we’re still able to cook fresh seafood on the grills ( tough cooking in that weather ). Another wonderful stay!
Enjoyed the storm, since it was not really dangerous"

"A fun and relaxing family week at Palm Island Resort
My wife and I have been coming to Palm Island with our children, and now with the grandchildren, for over 20 years. We always have a fun and relaxing time. This year was no exception. The resort staff were friendly and professional, the grounds and pool were well kept and the villas clean and in somewhat good shape.
We rented two units; one of the units (3213) needs minor repairs and decluttering. There was no ice maker (pieces of the ice maker were sitting on top of the refrigerator), the kitchen needs a trash can (it had a small waste paper basket), the louver doors to the washer/dryer closet were broken (doors would not stay shut), cabinet drawers in bedroom closet were missing, and closets and drawers were cluttered with what looks like leftover projects (broken pieces of vertical blinds, old electronic components, miscellaneous pieces of hardware, etc.).
We will be back again next year.

We love Palm Island Resort. It feels a world away from the normal intense pace of life where we live in Orlando. Some of the things we love the most are... no stores or anything else "commercial" on the island, not having to drive & just getting around on foot or by golf cart, beautiful clear water, friendliness of the staff and the way they go the extra mile for the guests, beautiful grounds and landscaping, variety of activities on the island. "

The staff is always pleasant and especially the bell man who drove us to our villa. We loved riding the golf carts to and from Shark Tooth Beach where we spent hours in the Gulf of Mexico unwinding!"

I was on Palm Island for a week. This was not the first time that I have stayed there but it is the first time that I rented a property. I went there for a special purpose. The property I stayed at was wonderful. It was well stocked with what I needed. I would definitely return."

"disappointed
Not a top tier rental. We paid and were promised we would have one room with a queen bed and one room with a king. There was no queen bed but a double bed instead. Dishes were dirty in the cabinets and pots and pans were dirty and rusted. The bathrooms were dirty, moldy and grimy. Necessities like salt, pepper, oil were not available in the unit. Bellman was a half hour late for our checkout and when I called to make sure one was coming I got a rude response from the front desk. Beach was covered in dead fish and a beach walk could not even be enjoyed because of the smell."

"Paradise with a side of cockroaches!
First off I have to say that the island is beautiful! The peace and tranquility is amazing. The resort staff is friendly and courteous. My family and I really enjoyed the daily activities. The unit was in a great location. Close to the pool, bbq and the beach access. Inside the unit there were some upgraded appliances and bathrooms. Their were some minor touches that could use improvement like the closet doors kept coming off the hinges and swinging out, the kitchen lacked some basic utensils. A hand mixer and food storage containers would have been helpful to have, heck even a can opener would have been great. Then there were the cockroaches! We opened the kitchen cupboards to find a huge cockroach crawling on the plates. It was so gross. I called the front office and they sent over someone with bug spray. The next morning, I was preparing a snack in the kitchen when I feel something tickling my foot. You guessed it! Another cockroach and it was crawling on me!!! I was so disgusted. I ran to the living room and saw another one crawling across the living room floor. This place is infested with them! Now, I live in Florida. I know cockroaches happen, but I also know that I rarely see them in my own home and I sure as heck don't want to see them in a vacation home that I pay premium money for because it's somehow labeled as "superior". Cockroaches generally crawl out at night, in the dark and avoid being spotted. These were roaming around during the day. I shudder to think about what crawled around the unit at night. So disgusting!!"

"A little sunshine on a rainy day
Our 1st room was terrible. Bugs, wallpaper peeling, a/c was not working....just seemed dirty. We called and complained and they moved us to a "superior room"??? The new room was better. We were there with a large group and all received a golf cart in their package, we did not. I wish they did not make the room/ package selection so **** confusing. We did have a great time and the island is kept in good shape."

"Worst Vacation Week Ever at Palm Island
My wife and I have been going to Palm Island for the past 30yrs. We have gone so many times that we know which units have a soft bed and we always book those units when available. This trip my daughter booked a 2BR unit we had just stayed in 2-3 months earlier on the top floor. We called 2 days before check-in and was told our unit was booked for us and would be available for check-in on our arrival date. When we arrived they had us booked in the lower unit under the one we had requested and in the unit we wanted was a family that had a small child that run front to back and sounded like the ceiling would fall in on us. When they checked out we thought at last some peace and quiet....not so....another family checked in with two small children. The sound was terrible. When we called the front desk we were told that security would be informed. Not once did security check on problem. We left a day earlier losing one of our booked days. Additionally we had to inform them of the following problems with unit. Towel bar hanging off wall, with clean towels on it. Pocket door broken, not fixed. Exhaust fan made a rattleing noise and would not work. They sprayed lubicant on motor. Dishwasher racks rusty and not useable for washing dishes. Shower head made a high pitched noise and had to be replaced. Unit was not clean upon arriving for a small pet, small items found under furniture which was found by our pet. Even though this was a pet-friendly unit which had paid $150.00 extra was not proper. With all the problems with this unit not once did the management call us to follow-up on any of these problems. Due to the above issues we are looking to book our vacations to the area in other vacation properties. We have recommend Palm Island to all of our friends and family...however.. not anymore."

The Palm Island Resort is a beautiful relaxing pristine island property. However;the unit 3213 needs attention.For instance,the dishwasher is very rusty. Several pieces inside the dishwasher were rusted completely.The kitchen entryway has a chunk of drywall missing.The rusted porch furniture-shabby tablecloth should be thrown out.The living room television was not working.The master bathroom shower drain must be clogged,as the shower was extremely slow to drain,and water filled the shower stall even on short 5 minute showers."

"Have Been Going for Many Years
We have stayed at Palm Island Resort for one week a year for more than 20 years now. There are many great things about the resort - the incredible beach,the wildlife, the fishing, the pools, and the ability to get away from it all for a few days. However, to be fair, we have to say there are also a few things lacking at Palm Island lately - quality customer service being the main one. On our most recent stay (July 2012), we had rude service from a gentleman in the front office on 2 occasions plus an unfortunate disregard for a serious health concern. There was a water main break during our stay and the entire resort was without water for approximately 12 hours. After it was fixed, there was a boil-water order in effect, but no one was notified by the resort of the situation. The only notice was a flyer placed in the recreation office. No phone calls, no notices placed on our doors, etc. After we all found out many hours later...we heard another guest voicing her concern to the front office due to the fact that a person in their party was pregnant and not notified of the boil-water order. We found it disturbing that a health-related order would be handled with such disregard. The condominiums are usually nice but can vary in quality. As long as you're looking for a casual, family resort you will probably fall in love with the place. It has become a tradition for our family that we look forward to every year - even with a few glitches that we try to overlook. "

"Mediocre at best, not "deluxe" unit
In this unit, refrigerator would not stay shut, bar on frig door kept falling off,ice maker didn't work, oven and microwave very outdated and did not cook to correct temp. Very low water pressure in unit. Toilets barely flushed. Called maintenance but they never came or if they did, never fixed the problem. Very disappointed in the quality of this u it. Everywhere else was fabulous! Will not stay at this unit again! Needs lots of work and feels very crowded."

This is my 3rd visit. We love the complex, staff, location, etc. Unfortunately our unit was not good. I filled out a comment card. Many plumbing problems in the kitchen and guest bathroom. Badly (unsafe) rusted patio table. Would never rent this unit again. Was glad this was not my first stay - other units we've been wonderful."

"Island Home Away from Home
We live locally and booked a 2BR villa and slip for a week of family relaxation. Despite an unusually rainy week, our 11-yo and 8-yo boys had a great time. Beach, pool, and a room of their own with a TV and DVD player! We grilled regularly, also enjoyed the kid's menu at Rum Bay and ice cream at Coconuts. The weather only let us use our boat twice, but it was great. Only negative was that our particular unit was a little worn. It seemed that it may have been neglected but looked like recent efforts have been made to update it. I would prefer that more items be available in the store for those staying more than a few days and maybe add some baked goods like cookies & brownies, etc. to Coconuts. We'd go again but rent a different unit or maybe a cottage."

"Great stay, some minor notes worth a look
Tv in guest room did not work. Found a couple live roaches on the move. Phone did not work or lack of instructions to explain, upstairs unit could easily be heard moving around so noise level was surprisingly high at times.
Rumbay, all food was great except for grouper bites. Serving or quantity for price was not matched well. Chicken finger for kids was heavy breaded and small portions of chicken inside. Eveything else we had was wonderful. When we left we wanted to pick up something at the store and it was closed. Idea. Let restaurant guest know store and coconuts closes at a certain time and consider keeping them open a bit longer.

Wonderful Staff! All were very helpful, especially the Bellman Staff who helped us many times during our week stay.
The Gas Grills that were made available for us were brand new and worked great. That was a very nice additional benefit that was a surprise to us.
We met a few owners of some condos and they were all very nice and helpful with Island information.
Overall a great experience!"
