"Our Annual Family Beach Trip
We truly enjoyed our wonderful stay at Waters Edge in Port Aransas. The beach was right outside our door and so beautiful. We will definitely come back here again!!"

"Family Beach Getaway
We absolutely loved Waters Edge vacation home! It was located right on the beach with great beach access. Our party consisted of 5 adults and 3 children. The home was equipped with everything we needed and was extremely comfortable. We will definitely consider staying in this home again on future trips to Port Aransas!"

"Best beach location and rental
The house is right on the beach! The house is well maintained, clean, very comfortable and lovely! The view is fabulous! The best review I can give it is that this is the 4th summer in a row that we have rented this house. It is awesome!!! I highly recommend this property."

"Outstanding View
This house sits right on the beach. Amazing views of the gulf at marker 79. The house was clean and so beautiful! It was perfect for our 2 families staying together. "

"Beautiful location
This is the perfect location. Beautiful clean house and The beach views couldn’t be better than this!
Only complaint was that the beds were very uncomfortable. The grandmaster with a private bathroom downstairs first Floor, that bed was horrible. Other guests complained about the queen beds being super uncomfortable. The second master bedroom upstairs was the only bed that have a foam mattress topper. My advice would be to upgrade it beds or get mattress toppers. This house is too nice to have uncomfortable beds. That being said, I would still stay here again we had a wonderful time."

"Unit 6 at Lost Colony on Highway 361
Chose this location because it is closest to the beach (yards away), has beautiful 180 degree views and accepts dogs! It has a second floor enclosed deck, so we didn't have to worry about the dog leaving and a first floor viewing area under the deck which made sunny late mornings comfortable for viewing ocean. We never left the dog home alone however. There is ample space to walk dogs at the facility - although there are a lot of stickers.

There is a bedroom on the lower level and 3 on the top level. The top level bathroom has a tub. The bathrooms on the first and second level had showers. All bathrooms were gorgeous and large. The kitchen is large and has good appliances and beautiful ocean view as does the adjacent living room. There are TV s in the living room and in 2 bedrooms. They have streaming, and we were unable to find and watch local news/weather and ESPN. There were a couple of malfunctions: ice maker and door to deck wouldn't lock, and the gate for the gated entry wouldn't open at times. There were some small roaches.

I wouldn't recommend this unit for people or pets with mobility problems bc climbing steps is essential. Guests must bring their own beach chairs, tent, toys. The deck and patio have very nice furniture including dining table. There is a pool at the complex. Accessing the beach is easy via a fairly short boardwalk in the facility.
The facility is about 10 minutes from the port in Port Aransas, and finding restaurants with outdoor seating to allow dogs is not hard: Tortugas, Moby ****, Virginia's, Grumbles. Management was courteous and responsive to complaints. October is a great time of year to be at the beach!"

"Port Aransas Escapes - Waters Edge
We stayed at Water's Edge from September 13 through September 16. The property was fantastic as it was situated just yards from the beach and the house was situated facing east which gave us an enjoyable afternoon of sitting on the deck and watching the surf. The property accommodations were outstanding and this property will be high on our list for a future stay pending availability. The property was very clean the management company very helpful. I would highly recommend this property, but it would probably hamper my ability to rent it again."
Oct 08, 2022 - Michael H., San Antonio, TX

"A Great Place To Stay
We all had a wonderful time staying here. It was clean and the management company was very helpful and easy to deal with. We would stay there again. It was nice there were beach toys and boogie boards there for us to use."

"Beautiful Ocean View
This house was very clean and well stocked. The ocean view was spectacular. We will recommend and return."

"Exceeded beyond our expectations!
We've stayed in many rentals & this is by far our favorite. Our family of 7 (kids ages 11 - 21) really appreciated how CLEAN and UPDATED the house was. It is decorated super cute and the ocean front view is spectacular. House is very well stocked but there are a few things that would have been appreciated - Beach towels, beach toys and beach chairs. Basic seasonings/staples for the kitchen (cooking spray/oil, salt/pepper, sugar). It was very difficult to cook meals because we had to buy every single seasoning. We had to leave several items there and I'm worried they got thrown out rather than being left for the next renters to use.
The bedrooms were amazing, although 1 kid slept on the couch because the top bunk is really small and VERY close to the ceiling...not good for tall teenagers. Many of the windows would not open which was frustrating. The ones along the window seat are super heavy and slam down when trying to open them. Screens on the patio door would have been really nice to let in the ocean breeze.
Our 2nd day there we came back to find painters blocking our parking area and working on the house. That was irritating. The next day they were back but working on the side of the house around the windows. It was extremely uncomfortable knowing they were able to see in the windows and hear everything we were talking about. It would have been appropriate to be made aware of the maintenance during our stay.
The beach stretches for miles in either direction. We enjoyed long walks several times a day collecting beautiful shells and seeing the abundance of sea life that comes to shore. The beach never felt crowded which was really nice.
This was our family's first time visiting Texas and while we weren't too impressed with the towns, being at the beach house was Heaven. It felt like a sanctuary and we would love to visit again someday."

"No heat downstairs! You gotta request a space heater
The thermostat is unusual, you set a different temp for each floor, except the bottom floor doesn’t work. We arrived at midnight and We couldn’t figure out what we were doing wrong. We were miserable trying to sleep at 40 degrees. Only a very light bedspread, we couldn’t find any blankets anywhere. We lost a whole nights sleep. I asked if there was a different thermostat. They brought us a space heater, no apology, just an explanation that the heat doesn’t work downstairs, like that makes it all ok. I paid over $800/night to be miserable. But hey they showed up with a space heater at 10 am the next morning. It would be different if they had actually expected it to work, or a unit had failed, things do break. This was not that. The unit simply didn’t direct heat to the downstairs. Unacceptable. "

"Unbeatable view
The view from the home was amazing. I didn't care for the air fresheners or huge dead roaches we found when we arrived, but otherwise the home was nice and clean. The AC drain clogged on the first night so that was stressful but the nice on-call maintenance guy showed up promptly and fixed the issue. Overall great location. "

"Great beach house!!
The management is friendly and helpful..
The house is spacious, comfortable, and designed to provide natural light and marvelous views of the clean, well maintained beach. It is located very close to the beach access. .
We hope to stay there again next year. "

"Lost Colonies 6
It was a lovely house. The location was excellent. "
Jul 08, 2021 - , Stockdale, TX

"Great house, not as well equipped as most rentals these days
PROS: Beautiful and convenient location, great views of sunrises and the beach. House very well laid out. Worked great for our family of 4 and my parents. Nice to have one bath tub and bathrooms on each floor. Kid bunk room was great too - love the protected ceiling fan. Well maintained and decorated beach house.

CONS: not as well equipped as most rentals these days. Not enough hand towels, zero liquid hand soap (isn’t this a pandemic?!); trash bags/coffee filters/dish/laundry soap/paper towels very low supplies, will have to purchase your own if there more than a couple days. Floors could have been cleaner. And would have been nice to have access to a broom and dustpan.

Did notice an odor of cigarette smoke in the house. Someone smoked inside clearly and now there’s an odor. I stop noticing it after entering but takes away from the beauty of the house. Unfortunate. Hopefully they can get the smell out....

"Wonderful house right on the beach
This house was perfect for my group of 4 but could easily accommodate many more people. The rental was clean and there were plenty of bath towels. The upstairs beds were a little uncomfortable but I am also 8 months pregnant so everything is uncomfortable! The beach is very easy to access - just walk past one house and you are at the boardwalk. The boardwalk was slippery with sand on it so I suggest that Lost Colony put down some texturizing. Myself and my mother slipped at least once going down the walkway EACH TIME we used it. Chairs are not provided so make sure to bring chairs for the beach and outdoor use on the deck and patio - the rental would be top notch if there were some polywood chairs on the deck! I would DEFINITELY rent this house again!"
Mar 02, 2021 - Meagan T., Austin, TX

"Location and views unsurpassed!!!
My husband and I chose this for our honeymoon trip, and have no regrets. Loved the townhome, the proximity to the surf, the privacy!!! Don't forget to dine at Virginia's when in Port Aransas. The home was clean and well-maintained, but a prior guest had smoked cigarettes in the living room and the smell persisted."
Feb 13, 2021 - , Bastrop, TX

"Wonderful Retreat
Lovely house with amazing views. Great location away from the busy beach nearer to Port Aransas.
We hope to return in the near future."
Oct 27, 2020 - Julie F., San Antonio, TX

"Great View & Location
This house is amazing! The view is amazing and the location is perfect! It fit our families needs and we enjoyed our long weekend stay! I would definitely recommend it anytime! "

"Beautiful beach view property
We loved this property. We have stayed in many in the area and this one by far is our favorite. We did have an issue with awful ants but we had some ant spray and just dealt. We reported it to the agency. Other than that, this place was great. Very well maintained, plenty of towels, kitchen is well stocked. Beds are not the most comfortable but we survived. All in all we recommend it. We will be booking again for next year. "
Oct 02, 2020 - Rebecca D., Andrews, TX

"Perfect family getaway
Excellent location. Couldn’t get any closer to the beach. House has a great layout for a large family. "
Jul 24, 2020 - , The woodlands, TX

"Best Location
We had an amazing family trip. The location and set up is perfect for young kids. The lay out of the home is not ideal for anyone who has trouble scaling stairs, but it was worth it for the VIEWS!!!! "

"Great place
5 years visiting lost colony and we have enjoyed it each year"
Jul 25, 2019 - , San Antonio, TX

"Nice location
Nice option for us with family coming from all over for a celebration. Was not happy that the upstairs bathroom door would not close. This bathroom is shared by 3 upstairs bedrooms. No wine opener. Limited pans. Downstairs room (formerly garage) did not cool off very well - had to buy a fan. Not a single dresser or place place to put your clothes. There were about 4 hangers in the entire house. Master says don't put your suitcases on the bay window shelf - but there is no other place to put them. You have to live out of the suitcase since no dresser or hangers. But, my family fit, could easily enjoy the beach and pool and that is what we wanted. Nice living area on main floor. Coming from out of state, we wish there were beach chairs to use - we knew ahead of time from the listing that they would not be available. I would recommend - but be aware of the shortcomings."
Jul 21, 2019 - , Winter Garden, FL

"Good location
The location of Rental is wonderful. Some repairs need to be made. Bathroom Sliding doors broken in upstairs bath. Need mirrors in bedrooms. With 10 people in condo it would help with fixing makeup, hair etc. Also, individual hand towels with towel and facecloth. Again, with 10 people it would help to have individual hand towels. Little things, but it would make it an even better place. "

"Annual Reunion Trip
This is our 16th year coming to Port A with all the women in my family from ages 8 to 80. We prefer rentals in the Lost Colony due to the proximity to the beach. 6LC is a favorite of ours... The unit itself had everything we needed for a wonderful time, beds were comfortable and seating supported our entire group. There's a few things that could improve... the upstairs bathroom door needs to be fixed. You get 1 towel set per guest so be sure you request additional if needed. The kitchen has basic utensils; plan for that. We would love, LOVE to see Port A Escapes update they're check-in process by installing keypad (or something similar) entry system. Patrons shouldn’t have to drive all the way into Port A to get the key and same for leaving... Other than that, this is a GREAT property.

"

"Amazing Easter
The weekend stay was amazing and my entire family can't wait to go back another weekend.

"Perfect Beachfront Rental :)
We had 6 adults and four children and two small dogs, and there was plenty of room for everyone! The house was really nicely done, and very clean. The balcony is right over the beach. Port A Escapes is super easy to work with, too. Thank ya'll for a great vacation!"
Jul 23, 2018 - , MIDLAND, TX

"3 days @ Port A!
We found Lost Colony to be a wonderful place. We loved our rental and will be coming back next year. The only "complaint" is the bottom bedroom does not get cool enough. If it were me, I would put a window unit or small air conditioner in there. We had 8 adults and 2 children and a dog and loved every other thing about the stay!!!!!"
Jun 14, 2018 - , Garden City, TX

"Great Spot!
First time here! Loved the proximity to the beach and the pelicans flying overhead while sitting on the balcony."
Jun 02, 2018 - Jorg S., Austin, TX

"Water's Edge 6LC
The women in my family and I have held our annual reunion in Port Aransas for 13 years; this is the 2nd time we've rented Water's Edge 6LC (so we're familiar with the property) and there were 7 of us. The best feature is the location. In the past we've been quite satisfied with everything; this year something about the way its being maintained is different. We couldn't quite put our finger on it but here's what I noticed. The house was hot upon arrival, the floor (entry esp.) was dirty. Dirty dishes were in the cabinet (gross); the cleaning crew didn't care what they unloaded from the dishwasher apparently. 1 roll of toilet paper (no spares under the cabinet) per restroom and no box of Kleenex. One towel per person, per bed (on the bed) instead of them being folded and stacked in the bathroom. Felt so unfriendly.... the upside is you do have access to a washer/dryer to wash them, which we did, often. The kitchen is minimally stocked so be prepared. No extra anything under the sink... soap, trash bags, paper towels. You really can't beat the location so just be prepared as you pack."

"LC6 Great As Usual
Very relaxing time. Always enjoy the great location. We'll be back again soon."
Aug 15, 2017 - Sharon B., Leander, Tx

"Waters Edge
This place has the most beautiful view from the balcony and living room area. Can't beat the closeness of beach from this place. One drawback was there was not enough bathrooms for the amount of people staying. We had two young children and no bath tub to bathe them in. Also a year old. Hard to bathe kids in shower, when they are used to baths. Both bathrooms were very small also. We had 5 women and no place to put on makeup or do your hair while others showering. Most of the beds were as hard as bricks!!!!"
Jul 31, 2017 - Doris J., Graham, Tx

"Water's Edge 6LC
We had a wonderful time at this location primarily for the view, night and day, moonrise to sun rise to sunset. The deck is fabulous, the seating is fantastic. Sliding glass doors would be better than the existing but not a major issue. The sleeping arrangement was adequate due to the large sofa, mainly because the photos were slightly misleading in that it looked as if there was enough for 3 couples and a single adult, but there is only 3 large beds. However, the 3 singles were great for the kids. The bathrooms were adequate, but towels were great. The owner should consider putting a powder room or even another full bath on first floor, as climbing up to levels of stairs to use the facilities is pretty taxing, especially at night. The kitchen is very nice, with everything needed to cook meals. Overall the house is nice, but mainly you get your money's worth on location. Beautiful night views of moon and night skies, close to beach. Thanks for a wonderful vacation. "
Oct 18, 2016 - Patti C., Bastrop, TX

"Still Enjoyed It
The location is excellent. Easy beach access and the view is to die for. A bit disappointed in the upkeep. Deck boards loose and sticking out, two ceiling fans not working, doors very difficult to open, etc. I understand this is a rental, but for the price the management company adds to the bill, the property should be "Turnkey". "
Sep 13, 2016 - Gil S.

"Beachfront Bliss
We took our family vacation in Port A this year and was pleasantly surprised. The property was semi-private and had everything needed for our 4 day stay. The views were beautiful. We had a few minor maintenance issues but they were resolved within the day. We cant wait to go back! "
Aug 20, 2016 - Michele K., Abilene, TX

"Best vacation ever!!!
Me and my family stayed in waters edge and tita's SandCastle from Aug4-7 we had so much fun. We absolutely loved both these homes, they were both kept very clean and the views were amazing. The only issue was the stairs. If you have anyone that issues climbing stairs then these homes are not for you. Other than that we loved it!"
Aug 10, 2016 - Maggie A., Early, TX

"Port Aransas Escapes 6LC
We had a family vacation. Kids, spouses and grandkids. We had a great time. The Water's Edge 6LC was great. Very nice and clean. Easy access to the beach. Quite surroundings. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone, of course that means it may be harder for us to reserve it for the next trip. The Port Aransas Escapes staff was great, helpful and very friendly. Great job."
Jul 26, 2016 - Ferd K., San Angelo, TX

"Beautiful house with a better view
We had a great time at this house. There was 10 of us staying there including 2 kids and we had plenty of room. We never felt crowded and there was plenty of bed space for everyone. Our 1 and ONLY complaint was only having 2 bathrooms. But, we just had to take turns and start early, it worked out fine. The view and beautiful home made up for it pretty well :)
The house was clean and stocked with everything we needed for the 5 night stay.
We hope we get to make it back here one day. "

Great place to stay. Portaescapes always maintains their rentals very neat and clean."
May 14, 2016 - Imelda A.

"Great location
Overall was a great house. Best part was being so close to the beach and pool. A little far from town, definitely recommend bringing majority of your meals (unless your planning to do activities in town also) wish the master bedrooms had their own bathrooms but it worked out! Also wish they had left us with more than 2 extra trash bags for the whole house. Another plus was the view from both masters and the common areas there was a perfect view of the ocean. "

"New Year
We were very happy with the house. our only issue was that we had to take our trash to the dumpster before leaving.. The instructions said there were trash cans, but when we were about to leave, we were told we would have to carry the trash in our cars to the dumpster. "

"Perfect Labor Day Geteway
We had a group of 10 stay at this location for Labor Day 2015 and couldn't have had a better experience. The house is spacious and very well finished, and has the best access to the beach you could ask for. We hope to be back to stay here again!"

"Family Vacation
Everyone had a fantastic time at this great home-it being so close to the beach and pool. The beach is mostly families and very clean.
I only wished that it had one more bathroom for all of us. We have decided that we will come back again next summer. "

Fantastic stay!!! Loved this place!!!"

"Right on one of the best beaches on Mustang Island
Wanted a place directly on the beach that would allow us to bring our
dog. This house filled the bill. Needs another bathroom on the lowest
level because there is a bedroom there and you have to go upstairs to
the bathroom. There are beds for seven in the bedrooms. There is an outside shower which will be great in the summer. We have booked for a week in June this year."

"Relaxing, beautiful way to wake up every morning
The house was amazing and beautiful. Plenty of room
For my kids. So close to the beach. Coffee on the deck every morning
As so relaxing. We loved being so close to he beach.!"

"Great gulf view
You can't ask for a better view or location to the gulf. The 2nd floor layout with kitchen and family room looking out at the gulf was perfect! There's a bath on this level. There are 3 bedrooms on the third level with a bath and a 4th bedroom on the bottom level with no bathroom. Overall the property is great, but the two baths were very small and weren't very clean compared to the rest of the house. You can tell the house has been updated and the furniture, kitchen, and beds were in good shape. "

"HOME AWAY FROM HOME
I decided to rent this house 6 months prior...Sylvia was my agent...she was incrediable!!! When I met her 3 months prior to my 18 day stay, it was like seeing an old friend. Perfection!!! I visited the home then before the was nice and I was comfortable with paying the balance at that time. When my family and I arrived on 27 Jun it was a entire new home...furniture, flooring, deck, kitchen, and a added room that now made it a 4 bedroom. The pictures online are exactly the same as what you get...open floor plan, great kitchen, fabulous deck and as close to the beach as possible...we overpacked...everything but food was there for us!!! We had a fantastic stay and will be back! Maid service and maintenance team was excellent. This is a great find for the young and told by the grounds keeper, it is the second closest home to the beach in Port Aransas. Rent it now before it's too late. "

"Summer Vacation 6/13/14 thru 6/17/14
Wonderful vacation spot. This was our 5th or 6th year at Lost Colony and this proerty was the best. Recently updated it was very comfortable. Really enjoyed a Birthday Dinner on the balcony overlooking the beach. Staff and construction crew on the grounds were very cordial and helpful. The only thing i would have changed would be a masterbath."

"Excellent vacation location
Wonderful views from the balcony.
Beautiful, clean and modern home.

"Wedding VACA
There was a mix up initially with the dates but was resolved with the owner agreeing to come in a day late. The initial response I received from your business was "I did not make the reservation" when it should have been "I'm sorry, we will see how we can best accommodate you and your party". In the end all was well and will stay there again. "

"#1 Spot EVER!
My husband & I booked this condo to spend time with our full grown children & our 5 year old Grandson. We ALL had the BEST time. The best perk was that we could bring our DOG. My great dane & I had the most memorable & amazing experience. Thank you Port A Escapes! Will book again :) Sincerely, Marci Hester in Alvarado, TX"

"Port Aransas Espcapes
The location was excellent. You couldn't get closer to the beach. The floor was buckled in the living room, 2 dining chairs were completely split down the middle. One of the kitchen drawers fell out when opened. There was no refrigerator handle on the door. Kitchen cabinets were badly chipped and scratched. The linoleum floor was peeling off in both bathrooms. The entire place needed some TLC. Carpeted stairs needed a good shampooing."
Sep 20, 2013 - Emily O., San Antonio, TX

"Great location & functional; could have been a bit nicer/cleaner
On the upside, the location - on the beach and close enough to restaurants, etc - was great and the layout of the home was neat and furniture/dishes/etc were clean.
On the downside, the main room floor had considerable warping, the garage was pretty dirty/dangerous (relevant as that's where the supposed stash of beach toys were said to be located but were not found amongst the old furniture, etc), and some of the glasses were chipped/unsafe for drinking (and the A/C couldn't be dialed down below 72) --- none of which was a big deal and didn't keep us from having an overall positive experience, but not quite what you'd expect for ~$700/night."
Sep 05, 2013 - , RICHMOND, TX

"RUN DOWN VERY OLD
We went on a family vacation with our friend that has beast cancer and the condition of the home was very poor. The kitchen smelled like an old bar. The a/c had a mind of it's own. It was windy and raining the house was leaking from some of the windows and it felt like the house was going to collapse. Thank god we survied. The pool is worse than a Motel 6. We turned on the dish washer and it leaked all over the kitchen floor. The 2 best things about the house was the short distance to the beach and the washer and dryer. Sorry but this house will not be revisited by our family. "

"Needs a lot of work
Frankly the exterior of this unit is bad (rotten siding coming off, balcony supports leaning, balcony coming loose from the house on the left side, etc.) We stayed here 2 years ago and I gave it a 5 star review despite some minor things wrong. I'm not that picky about sticking doors or a little buckle in the floor. We had a great time again this year but I just can't understand why the owner doesn't repair some of the deterioration of the exterior of the house. The houses next door (east side only) have been kept up, painted, and have new balconies. I think the balcony of this unit is seriously unsafe. We won't book this again unless the exterior is fixed and the balcony is completely replaced. "
Aug 10, 2013 - Cynthia C., Lytle, TX

"First Time Visit From Houston
I was very satisfied with the location of the house and the view. The house was clean and everything, appliances, stove, AC etc were in working order. I was very disappointed in the condition of several areas of the house. To be specific, in the kitchen, the left drawer next to the oven was clearly broken when we walked into the kitchen. Pots and pans could be updated. The sliding glass door to the balcony was cloudy due to moisture between the glass. This made it difficult to see the beach. One side of the window looks like there is a bubble in the glass. The ceiling in the shower on the main floor as well as the ceilings in 2 of the bedrooms have paint that is clearly bubbled up and ready to fall off. These things stuck out to me the most. For the price charged, I was disappointed to walk in and find these issues. "

"Don't Stay Here!
Condo looked nothing like the pictures shown ,very misleading ! The first 24 hours only one shower for 10 people, because faucets weren't installed in upstairs shower ! There was dog pooh under dining table from previous guests stay! There was mold in downstairs bathroom above shower! The hardwood floors in living room are buckled not to mention overall entire condo was filthy. My Family has stayed at Port Royal for over 15 years and decided to try a beach house for a change , needless to say we will be returning to Port Royal next year.

"Our First Family Beach Vacation Getaway
We all had a Great time! Everyone was very comfortable, everything you needed and more was provided. We brought more with us than we needed to have but this was our first time to stay in a rental home.
Couldn't have gotten a closer spot to the ocean unless you were in it! The balcony and swing were my favorites. Coffee in the AM watching and listening to the ocean and birds, also saw dolphins, wish we could do that everyday.
Absolutely loved our experience, so thankful our family could get together and enjoy it, would definitely recommend to anyone and hope to make this a yearly family excursion!!"

"Location not enough
LC6 has one of the better locations in Lost Colony, but that is all it has going for it. Both the interior and exterior had extreme wear, paint peeling and visible mold in the bathroom, and a section of siding pulled up with insulation exposed on the exeterior. We had a minor issue with the dvd player and coffee pot not working, but PAE quickly and professionally provided working replacements. While I would not recommend Lc6, I would recommend them to friends and intend to visit Lost Colony again via PAE."

"Port Aransas Gulf Front Beach Review
Awesome location; house needs work inside and out.
Inside: sliding door to patio needs lubrication
Middle bathroom vent inoperable
Rugs need taping to floor (safety issue)
Peep hole on front door gone
Did not see ANY fire alarms
Windows throughout need lubrication
TV needs updating

Outside: Siding coming off on South side
Garage needs to be cleaned out and
garage doors replaced
Having listed all the problems let me emphasize
The location can't be beat and the property management
was excellent. We would consider renting this unit again,
Especially if repairs are made.
Port A is close enough for shopping and ratting out.
South Corpus is equally as close.
Birding and fishing are awesome in this area!
There are also many activities in town catering to the
Winter Texans!"

"Excellent Location, Weak A/C
Had a blast! But you can tell that the property has been around for a while and is experiencing some wear and tear. Also, more trash bags + cleaning supplies (in general) would be nice items for them to stock for guests to clean before leaving."

"Thanksgiving at the beach
Great Location! Nice large family area and deck. Kitchen was adiquite to cook a big dinner. We had six adults 4 children and a pet. No broom, dust mop or any sort of cleaning equipment was provided to help us with the sand draged by children. Deck chair fell apart when we sat down - had to put in garage so kids wouldn't get hurt. Over all we had a great time. "

"Third time
We've stayed at this same condo for the last 3 years. Our overall stay was good, but the condo's kitchen seemed poorly stocked this year. Cooking utensils and coffee cups in particular were scarce. We were disappointed to have no coffee filters, and felt there wasn't enough toilet paper, or paper towels in comparison to our last two years here. We will definitely be keeping an eye on reviews before we rent this unit again."

"Great beach stay!
Probably one of the best Port A vacations I have ever had. Fantastic location about five miles south of PA. This unit (#6) and three others (#5 and two others - I don’t recall which) on this property are practically right on the beach, but you have to access the beach via a boardwalk on the opposite side of the adjacent house. Not a huge deal – a minor inconvenience. Incredible views of the ocean from the balcony, kitchen, living area and a couple of the upstairs bedrooms. Sunrise is at the back of the house so be prepared for an early rise. Nice swinging bench below the balcony where you can sit and enjoy the view of the ocean. I was happy with the reservation process, payment schedule (relatively small deposit and the balance at check in), office staff, etc. The cleaning fee is well worth it with the sand, etc. from the beach. The house comes stocked with most basic kitchen needs (pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, towels, etc.). Don’t forget your coffee/filters, salt/pepper, laundry detergent, extra tp, soap/shampoo, etc. There is a full size washer and dryer. We comfortably fit six adults, three teens and a baby in the house. All bedrooms are upstairs. One bedroom has three twins, another has two twins and an extra mattress that can be pulled out, and the other has a double – so you can sleep eight upstairs. I think that the huge sectional sofa has a hide-a-bed, so you could probably sleep three or four in the living area. There are two small full baths (upstairs has a tub/shower and downstairs is just a shower). Let's face it - the salt, sand and wind take a toll on beach houses - and this one is no exception. The garage door was about to fall off of its rollers (literally) and there were some places in the living room floor that were buckling. Not huge detractors, I know I’m nit-picking. Lots of the owner’s stuff in the garage, but still lots of extra room to keep beach toys, chairs, etc. I’d stay again!"

"Great Place to stay
Wonderful view and very comfortable accomadiations. I would recomended it to friends and family."
Jun 26, 2012 - , Tyler, Tx

"Would Book Again
Location - right on the water - couldn't have been more perfect. Wonderful deck overlooking the water. Wish there had been more lounge chairs on the deck. We were always competing for the one lounge chair. Living area was very comfortable. Dishes in the kitchen were fun and in sufficient number but some pans need to be added. We tried to use a sheet pan and quickly discovered that the bottom was rusted through. Parking is a little crammed; couldn't have accommodated more than the 2 vehicles we had. Rate was a little pricey for the condition but acceptable due to the location. The management company had indicated that the unit was LIKELY to be ready before the set 4:00pm check-in time but it was barely ready by 4. That is a little late for check-in so that was a disappointment. Hope to be able to return soon!"
Jun 15, 2012 - David O., Oklahoma City, OK

"Waters Edge
A beautiful location. However for the cost, the home could at least provide some hot pads, potato peeler, baking sheet and a handle on the refrigerator that stays on. The slididng bathroom door is pitiful, as it sticks and won't close all the way. A little money needs to be spent on this place."
Jun 12, 2012 - , Clifton, TX

"can't get closer to the beach than this...
Patrick from Port A Escapes was super accommodating. While we were there, a large storm blew through and knocked out the power to the whole complex! Another house was hit by lightning! The power was only off for a few hours and the fine folk at Port A Escapes were easy to reach on the phone and jumped all over the power problem immediately and in a very professional manner. No one was hurt. This house was perfect for my large group of friends, and we are already planning to return."
May 20, 2012 - Kate L., Austin, Tx

"Sandfest Weekend
Location was great. Waking up or cooking in the kitchen you are overlooking the beach. There was plenty of beach chairs to use, 2 grills for outside cooking, kitchen was nice could use more cookware, upstairs bathroom pocket door was hard to close, need to provide more T.P. and kitchen trash bags, and living room could really use some type of blinds morning sun came shinning in. The property was clean although it could use a update. The outside deck was really very large and down under that was a porch swing that was a nice plus. We had a group of nine and there was plenty of room although sleeping on twin beds was almost like going back to camp. We all agreed we would rent it again."
Apr 26, 2012 - Karen D., San antonio, TX

"Good for a weekend but not for an extended stay.
Great location, poor timing during a pungent red tide. Old house and a little run down. No cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaner didn't work and we had to buy a broom. Over the course of 75 nights we required maintenance to come out 3 separate times to fix the internet connection and 2 separate times to fix the heater. Instead of an inconvenience credit all I received was a quote from the property management company "These things just happen". The property management company was also misleading about some things during the reservation process. Overall, great location, nice house for a short stay, poor management."
Jan 12, 2012 - , Apple Valley, CA

"Fun Time
The home itself was terrific, older but well kept. Location was better than perfect...had the beach to ourselves most of the time since it was October. Water was warm & pretty UNTIL red tide appeared causing difficulty in breathing, runny noses, etc. Mother Nature had us change ourplans so we went to Corpus Christi for the day to visit the Texas Aquarium, which the grandkids & adults all enjoyed. The town of Port Aransas wasn't affected by the red tide so breathing issues didn't exist there as we enjoyed the different restaurants. One drawback to trip: unless you can/want to only spend time on the gorgeous deck, feed the seagulls and go to the beach, there really is not much else to do in Port A. No shopping,no movie theatre, etc. But to escape the world, this place was perfect.(Didn't completely escape, had internet & cell phone access.)"

"Port "A" visit - Lost Colony 6LC
There were 10 of us. The information led us to believe that there would be 10 beds. The master has a queen, the 2nd bedroom has a single and a bunkbed, and the 3rd bedroom had 2 singles. There was a mattress under the single in the 2nd bedroom, so one
of us had to sleep on the floor on a mattress. Other than that, we had a wonderful time. The beach view is priceless from the 2nd story balcony with plenty of chairs and a table for sitting and gazing at the beautiful greenish/blue water. This subdivision
is about 8 miles from town, so your out of all of the traffic and noise. Secluded but not isolated. The boardwalk, outdoor shower and pool made "after-beach" cleanup a breeze. The beach toys listed in the brochure are nothing to brag about. Old rusty toys
and cracked up plastic stuff for making sandcastles. Was it worth the high price, perhaps. Will I do it again, perhaps, but I think for the price, something larger could be obtained. If there are 6-8 of you in your group, this is the perfect size for you.
10 is kind of pushing it. The one thing you can't take away from this place is the awesome views. Hot morning sun on the deck, but cooler afternoon shade with the seabreeze made this comfortable even in 100+ degree temps. The structure is kind of dated, could
use some fresh paint, and the faux wooden floor in the living room is bubbling up in places. There are no blinds or curtains in the living room, so if you sleep on the pull out bed, be prepared to be up early when the sun pours in the large sliding windows.
The furniture was comfortable with a nice pit couch, and several tables to eat and play games. Overall, a great experience.

"A great vacation spot for children young and old.
We loved being right on the beach. "
Aug 11, 2011 - , Midland, TX

"
The location was great! and the furniture was very nice. Biggest complaint is that the kitchen and baths were very dated, there was black on inside of drawers that stuck when you opened them and water leaking from the bottom of the tub. The kitchen was haphazard in how it was set up and there were only two decent coffee cups. Although it sleeps 10, there were not 10 sets of towels that I could find. The quality inside was disappointing."
Aug 07, 2011 - , Garland, TX.

"Great Location, property needs a total face-lift
For the price, you would expect a new or updated house, too much rust, mold and cabinets, drawers that would not open or close properly"
Jul 25, 2011 - , Georgetown, TX

"over rated
My family has vacationed in Port A for years and have stayed in many places. We chose this unit because of the location and the attractive pictures from the website. The pictures did NOT depict the reality of the unit. The unit is old, out dated and is in need of major paint and repair. We were shocked when we arrived. The pots and pans were old and filthy. We never used them. The unit had many dirty rusted vents, smelled musty, had old, broken doors, a dirty garage and animal urine stains on the rugs. This unit needs alot of work. You are only paying for the view! We were very disappointed."
Jul 19, 2011 - , Fort Worth, TX

"Poorly maintained rental
This location was great. Too bad that the living conditions were not better. Driving up to rusty garage door, to go up 2 flights of stairs, to uneven floors & old dirty carpet, refrigerator that didn't work so ruined the food that we brought, to not be supplied toilet paper, pet hair on comforters/pillows,bunk bed broken, beds hard, AC not working well, etc, etc. For the prices they charge, they should put more $ into maintenance. When we went into office to get more TP, we were told that they don't supply TP for the whole time just enough to cover first night stay. And the manager couldn't even bother to get up to talk with us. I had to talk to her across the room from the check in counter. They sent out service people but they really couldn't do much to help. "

"
This house had a wonderful location and the inside was nice. It was extremely dirty and had not been properly cleaned. It would serve this unit well to throw away the pots and pans for they were totally unusable. I had to purchase pots and pans for our stay by driving into Corpus to buy them. I did appreciate the fast response on the refrigerator and air conditioner. The doors were hard to manage. The dryer would not turn off at all and had to be unplugged to turn off at all which may be a safety concern for the owner. We did not find the sixth single bed until we were leaving and had to push two young children together in one single. As nice as the location was, I would not rent this house again due to the sticky floor. It would not have taken much to clean the floor but there was no mop and the vacuum was down in the basement and of little value since we did not find it until the last day. As much as I paid for this house, it should have had the floors done. We washed off the patio with the hose since the salt build up was so great we could not see out the windows. The blind in the kitchen would not come down and we were afraid we would break it. Since the unit was on the beach, we could not even use a broom since we could not find the dust pan to pick it up. I left the squashed roach to show it needs pest control.
I am fully aware one must be forgiving at the beach but some things were not so forgiving. I am a licensed realtor and I felt some attention should be given when calling for such a steep price. I could have rented just a little ways down the beach for over a thousand less and in the future, that is what I will do knowing these units were very clean. I hope I did not sound to mean. I felt I should let you know to improve the experience for those in the future. Thank you, Renee Cox"

"
We had a wonderful vacation at Lost Colony 6LC. The only draw back was their were no curtains or blinds down stairs. So when the guest would sleep down stairs the morning sun woke them way to early. The other drawback was there is no master bath. Trying to share a bathroom with 6 adults is not fun. lol There is a downstairs bath but the stairs make it more difficult carrying stuff up and down the stairs for taking a shower. Yes I would stay there again...:)"

"Waters Edge 6LC
needs new refrigerator very badly.
sliding patio door very difficult to operate. sliding door for upstairs bathroom very difficult to operate.
Ceiling fans were great, but most in bad
need of pull strings to operate.
Fry pans were just terrible; we even left
our old ones there. Need a toaster.
There were no coffee filters provided. We
left the ones we bought.

Bad start off when we (3 family cars) showed up @ 2pm but had to wait until 4pm. I had called the day before and was
told we could come earlier. We were tired, hot, hungry!! 4pm is too late a start; 2pm is reasonable; 10 am checkout is also oK; most are anxious to get up and out.

Last but not least, Cost is too high!

"Big Problems Will not return
My comments were sent to the managment office expressing our dissatisfaction with this unit. The problems were too lengthy to be listed here due to the lack of space. Owners of unit should visit unit and take immediate steps toreplace beds and fix unit."

"We loved the location and cleanliness of the property! Few things that were missing that would have been helpful and have been at your properties in the past were: a large trash can, broom and dust pan, and small grill.

"Disappointed
Lost Colony 6, Water's Edge, has a great location, right on the water. The house itself is in need of general repair especially in the kitchen. Windows weren't clean, obstructing the view. We had to wash off porch furniture. Bring your own beach towels. We expected more for the cost."
May 19, 2011 - , Houston, TX

"Water's Edge 6LC
Had a great time. Location and view can't be beat and the Port A Escapes people were great. The house had a few cosmetic flaws (rusty garage and fridge) and some sliding doors that were really hard to open and close, but other than that the house was really nice and everything was very clean and neat. I will definitely try to rent this house again next time I go to Port A."

"Great view- our family had a super time!
Some better general maintenance needed- dead batteries in remotes, some light bulbs out, slow upstairs drain, etc. but felt these were minor concerns. Loved the view, beach access, and all the beach items in the garage. Beds were comfy, house was clean."
