"Lots of space
My family and I have stayed here for 2 summer vacations now. Total enjoy the beach house - there is plenty of space for the 6 of us (and kids) and the walkable location to the beach is perfect. having the pool available is a nice change up from being at the beach everyday. We had an air conditioner issue and management quickly responded and corrected the problem. "

"Get-a-way to beach!
Property was as described by management. We enjoyed the privacy of the beach. Very relaxing location for a family. Not too far from neighboring towns, so if younger children get bored, there are activities for them. We enjoyed the time spent there. Thank you!"

"Wolf Pack Beach Bash
We loved Sol to Soul! The location was wonderful, the kitchen was fully stocked, and the breeze on all of the patios was wonderful. We loved that each bedroom has its own bathroom! It's a wonderful place to stay!"

"Perfect for our family
So much to love about this place! Each room had its own bathroom which was perfect for our family (grandparents, aunt/uncle, me and my small children). The very short walk to the beach was SO convenient, especially for a family with small kids. We could set up all day on the beach but the rental was just steps away if we needed something like bathrooms, a nap, snacks; etc. The kitchen was really well stocked and we enjoyed cooking together. Will definitely be back."

"Sol to Soul
My family has stayed at Lost Colony, on my birthday, for at least 10 years. This was my most disappointing stay. The unit is tired looking. The furniture is worn out and very uncomfortable. Second bedroom bed was extremely uncomfortable. Pictures fooled me."

"Great Stay!!!
Had a great stay with family! The rental was clean, beds were comfy. We’ve been here several times and we keep coming back because the Lost Colony location is perfect....just a few steps to swimming, fishing and relaxing on the beach."

"Great stay with the family
Wonderful location just down from the busy beach areas. Condo was very well aintained, large and roomy and good view of the ocean. Easy to get to anything you need."

"Sol to Soul - Lost Colony
This is our 4th year staying at Lost Colony. We love the location and the convenience to the beach. I also love that because of the location the beach is not crowded. This was our first stay in the Sol to Soul house. The set up was perfect for our family. Each family had their own room and bathroom. The downstairs living area was also perfect for the kids. There was a wet spot in the ceiling near the kitchen which indicated there may be a leak. One of the master bedrooms upstairs was very hot while the rest of the house was cool. Also the only bathtub in the home did not have a drain plug which made it difficult to bathe the little ones. My only concern with the resort property was the lack of upkeep of the grounds. The flower beds were overgrown and in need of mowing. The stickers were really bad everywhere which made walking through the grass hard. The stickers stuck to shoes which then ended up inside. "

"Sol to soul good for your soul
It was a great beach house that was very close to the beach. The view from the upper deck was amazing. "

"Port A beach house
This is the second time me and my family have stayed at this house. The location is great, we love that all 4 bedrooms have their own bathroom. It was very clean when we arrived, and we enjoyed our stay very much!"

"Sol to Soul
This was a great rental with a lot of room and a nice patio. I would have liked a better ocean view. I would stay here again. Not too far from town so it was very convenient.

Some of the ceiling did not work well or maybe we just couldn’t figure them out!

The door lock was a punch type lock which was also very convenient for everyone."

"Port Aransas Family Trip July 2019
We rented Sol to Soul and the property was Amazing. Great Location, Beautifully decorated and very comfortable for our large group. Great view of the beach and ocean. Very quiet community. The house is a very short walk to the beach boardwalk and was great for our young grand children. They also enjoyed the pool. House was clean and we loved the fact that each bedroom had a private bath and they were all recently remodeled. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes/utensils and bedding & towels were very nice. We will definitely rent this property again."

"2019 Summer Beach Trip
The layout of the beach house was setup great.
We had a problem with the three (3) hide-a-beds.
They were all broken beyond the point of any use.
The house was clean, but needed some general
maintenance. We did not have TV's for two days.
Turned out yo be an unplugged amplifier. We kept
killing large roaches in the kitchen.
This is a Great Beach Rental, but it needs a little
more maintenance.

"Family Beach Getaway
Very enjoyable. Short walk to the beach. Nice view of the ocean. Nicely updated kitchen and yes, we fix all our meals there. Spacious and comfortable living area and outdoor patios. Updated bathrooms too. Only complaint I heard was that the madter bedroom could use a new mattress. T’was wonderful holiday!"
Jul 01, 2019 - April s., San Antonio, TX

"Feedback re our stay
There were six of us and we had more than enough space.
Liked that we had our own bathrooms. Clean- kitchen well stocked.
Needed more towels but all was nice. Close access to beach.

"Great place
The house was great for my family. The view was good from my kitchen window. Had a few problems like the stairs with a baby, a tv was not working and had a couple of the big water roaches, but nothing we couldn’t handle. It was close to the beach and the swimming pool was wonderful. Washer and dryer were a bit slow but a good time had by all."

"Annual Girls Trip
Sol to Soul was great! One of the shortest boardwalks I've ever dealt with in Port A, made it so easy to get back and forth to the beach. The house was beautiful with so many bathrooms!!!

Only problem was the wifi didn't work and never got fixed even with a call to management. And there was no trash bags or dish detergent even though the communication said there would be. Both were easily fixable with a trip to the store.

Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely rent again!"

"Awesome Retreat
This property provided great space to have alone time and even better space for fellowship to be with our friends. The kitchen was well equipped. However not directly on the beach the access to was convenient and still had awesome views. The common areas were very clean. "

"sister weekend
We love this place so much! Easy access to the beach and very quiet community. Very relaxing and enjoyable and the sunrises are.amazing! A little stuffy in couple.of.rooms but overall bad. The beAch area could.use some cleaning early in the morning. Not.sure who is responsible."
May 15, 2018 - Mary Jane l., Pflugerville, Tx

"Soul to Sol
The house is very nice. The bed linens in every room smelled of mildew. It was very strong in the east side upstairs room.
Hooks of some kind on the outside deck or patio would be helpful to hang beach or pool wet things on.
WIFI password was not available until the next day - two of us work from computers - the wifi was important - but it was available the next day.
No potholders - We used the stove every day and had to use cloth of some kind to try to handle pans.
Overall it was nice. Convenient to pool and walk to beach is very easy. "
Jul 09, 2017 - Carmen L., Stockdale, TX

"New location for siblings beach vacation is a hit!
Having rented the past 6 years in Galveston we were ready for a new location. Researching & choosing via internet was a little scary. But the website was accurate & house was exactly as pictured. There was no secret that this was an older house & community but as such was right on the beach which is common in Galveston but hard to find in Port Aransas. The house was well kept, furniture etc. has been replaced as needed. The beaches here were great. Our only complaints were a very sticky sliding glass door that was already being measured for replacement, one slow draining tub and a few ants in the kitchen-that's how little we could find to complain about! Although we enjoyed this house, when we come back next year we may try to rent a slightly larger house directly on the beach. "
Jan 11, 2017 - Deborah B., Stafford, Texas

"Clean and comfortable
This property is a little further away from town than we realized. That said, we were pleased to find how nice the view of the ocean was from the deck. The house was very comfortable and surprisingly clean considering the amount of sand that must get tracked in. Our only complaint would be that the tiny kitchen wasn't well equipped for cooking -- only one pot didn't have shredded teflon. Our plan for pancakes had to be scrapped! The only real bummer of our stay was the mosquito swarms. We were covered in bites within the first hour of arriving. Bug spray made later outings tolerable. Overall, a great weekend!"
Jan 11, 2017 - Tridib K M., Beaumont, TX

"#1 @ Lost Colony - a nice family spot
I cooked Thanksgiving dinner and brought some things I knew I'd need, but I was pleased the kitchen was so well stocked with pots and pans, cutlery, etc. When the cold front came through, we wish the fireplace was working, but that's our only down on this place. Good set up for grandparents downstairs (quiet) and kids and their parents upstairs. TV and DVD player worked well, as did the washing machine and dryer and kitchen appliances. Even though this is one of the farthest condos from the beach, it has a view of the water thanks to the slanted layout of the property. A hot tub at the pool would have been nice, but all in all, it was a good experience. "

"LC1 review Jan/Feb '11 stay
Property was clean but in dire need of paint (walls/ceilings need repair & paint). We attended to a number of small maintenance needs (replaced 8 lightbulbs, 7 closet doors that were stuck, repaired 2 swivel chairs, sink stopper was stuck, TP holder tightened to wall, cleaned rust off refrigerator door, some painting, washed windows--all of which, property manager generously compensated us for). All appliances worked well, refrigerator door on the outside was covered with rust but clean inside. Kitchen was well supplied to prepare and eat a meal; only one serving bowl however. Ample towels in the 3 bathrooms, beds were comfortable. Good size closets in two bedrooms. Cable and internet worked well except the two full days when whole island was down. Very convenient having a washer/dryer in condo. We enjoyed watching waves from the balcony with partial view of the ocean, also the short walk to the boardwalk and great beach. Location was nice, halfway between Corpus Christi and Port Aransas; gated colony was quiet. Property manager was always friendly and helpful."
Jan 11, 2017 - THOMAS R., Greeley, CO

"
We had a great time and the location was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable so we all slept good. On the down side, the stairs are very steep and the outside stairs are steep and not stable. We had a total of 8 people so the kitchen could of been stocked more. For example, there was only 1 large bowl, 1 small skillet and 1 larger skillet. Thus, the morning we made pancakes we had to fix 1 pancake at a time and fry the bacon in the other skillet. Other than that we had no complaints and we would stay there again."

"Bill Ritchie Input -
Boat parking area was really good. Access to beach very good.
Access to trash disposal very poor.
Size of kitchen inadfequate.
Having three rest rooms was exellent, but size of shower in master really small.
For the age and condition of the property the price was high."

"Lost Colony, yes. Unit LC1, NO.
Loved the location, management company, cleaning, but this unit was not acceptable for many reasons. Lower level smelled musty. One fold out sofa had no bottom. Matresses without protectors, no towel racks or hooks in any of 3 bathrooms, garage not useable, dangerous uneven deck, very rusted refrigerator, no icemaker in unit that is supposed to sleep 10. All ceilings were coming apart at seams. I could go on......"
Jan 11, 2017 - Suzann B., San Antonio, Tx

Awesome place, great for the family.
We'll absolutely be back again soon. "
Jan 11, 2017 - Charles B., TX

"Great Vacation!
This was a great family vacation! It was the third in a row at this property. The location is great. The accomodations for 5 adults and two children were good. The property is getting a bit worn and tattered and needs a thorough renovation to be a top property. Access to the beach, a private pool and great view of the gulf are real positives. The property is far enough from Port A to keep the beach uncrowded, but close enough to allow shopping for groceries, etc. and access to great restaurants. Property management was all that could be expected. We had anumber of light bulbs burned out; we called management to report ; and they sent a maintenance man to replace them in a couple of hours. I recommend Port A Escapes LC1 highly and look forward to its renovation. We plan future stays a this property."
Jan 11, 2017 - , Manchester, Missouri

"Birthday Weekend
We had 8 people and a baby and everyone slept comfortably. Location is great, a short drive from town. We spent most of our time on the deck, the view was so pretty and the boardwalk to the beach is very convenient. We're planning to return next summer."
Jan 11, 2017 - Adelina V., Helotes, TX

"Seashell Retreat
The location was great and access to the beach was perfect. However, the rental and furniture was dated, several large water roaches were found, water pressure was poor in upstairs master bath, and carpet was a trap for stickers. Parking was excellent and private beach was nice. Bar-b-que pit was unusable because it was too small and old. I would recommend Port A Escapes to a friend and the location but most likely request a remolded rental in Lost Colonies. The family had a great time and look forward to returning again to Port Aransas."
Jan 11, 2017 - Grace M.

"Great location but needs some work
The location was great. Beautiful Gulf view, short walk to the beach, and nice pool. Would stay there again if two problems could be resolved: (1) serious roach infestation (woke up with a roach crawling me in the middle of the night - this was only one of many we saw during our stay); (2) the shag carpeting was full of sticker burrs - basically had to wear shoes indoors. Port A Escapes was a pleasure to deal with and even brought us a new DVD player when the one we had wasn't working."
Jan 11, 2017 - , Austin, TX

"Lost Colony 1
Great experience. Little unhappy with all the stickers in carpet and rugs. Great staff, awesome location, awesome views, and great proximity to beach"
Jan 11, 2017 - , Lockhart, TX

"Great Location
It had a fantastic Location! Definitely needed more cups if you have 6 or more people. Master Shower didn't work well luckily the other two showers were fine. Definitely needs an update in the decor and overall asthetic. All that aside it's a prime location with everything you need in a beach house. We enjoyed our stay :)"
Jan 11, 2017 - Helen F., Red Rock, TX

"Port Aransas Escapes is the best!
Port Aransas Escapes did a great job accomodating me on memorial day weekend after problems with my initial reservation. They get an A+. I will recommend them to friends and family who will be staying in Port Aransas. I will also be back myself. Thanks!!"
Jan 11, 2017 - Noe P., Dickinson, Tx

"Great location at a great price
We stayed at the Seashell Retreat for 3 days and 4 nights on June of 2014. The Ac broke on our first night and the management acted quickly to to get it repaired. The were really professional and helpful. The house is a little outdated but It looks like they are making improvements. The balcony on the 2nd and 3rd floor were excellent. could not asked for a better view. I definitely recommend this place to Any one. It was a great experience."
Jan 11, 2017 - Edward R., Elgin, TX

"July 2014 Weekend in Port A
We recently enjoyed a long weekend in Port Aransas. The house we rented was large and we were very comfortable. The pictures were very accurate and the back porch overlooking the ocean is wonderful. My concern is the fact that there is no mention of Lost Colony in the address. One of our party had a lot of trouble finding the location due to this. For travelers not familiar with Port Aransas, the mention of the house being located in Lost Colony would have made things much easier."

"Short Walk to Beach, but burr city inside
We did it different this time and stayed within walking distance of the beach. This sacrificed the closeness to restaurants and shops which was ok. This is south of the main beach but just as much traffic. The beach is close but its very narrow. So narrow that the actual traffic drives in front of you instead of behind. So on a busy day you are constantly moving for trucks to pass. Very annoying and dangerous for kids and dogs. The unit we stayed in- we could hear and see the waves from our porch so that was nice. But the unit was carpeted and with people over hte years walking in and out of the dunes there are TONS of burrs or stickers. You could not walk barefoot. My son (2 yrs) got them in his pants and fingers. horrible experience. Otherwise the unit was clean, just old and neglected. The pool was small and on the dirty side. Overall we would not stay again. I suggest them putting in tile. Oh and I fell out of the 70's style chairs they had as they tipped right over on each side. The staff was great."

"Major Disappointment
This house was a complete dump- it was falsely represented on the Internet. From broken furniture and light fixtures to moldy rusty air vents, no coffee pot, old narrow stairs, balcony porch doesn't close, etc. The mgmt company at least reimbursed us some $, but we still felt really ripped off"

"Overpriced Beach Rental
Our family once a year works toward a one week vacation, we work hard to pay for a nice rental on the beach and share the cost so we all can enjoy a better than average vacation experience. We have rented this unit for three years and felt the cost for two of those years reflected the dated and varied items others complained needed fixing. We realize these reviews are relative, and therefore have not given an opinion before now. Due to the substantial rise in cost per night, we feel it is necessary, to let you know, there are other properties within Lost Colony that have made the upgrades to their units to explain the rise in cost. This unit has not done upgrades to the inside, that justify the expense it cost per night, for 7 nights of stay. Port A escapes and Lost Colony are both great. Please look at the photos carefully and realize there are issues( ex: cracked tile, dryer needs 2 timer cycles, bathroom doors don't lock, back door stuck shut, closet doors broke, kitchen sink faucet leaks, large gaps alongside stair case ) that need repair. The ads said all units being redone inside and out. "

"Was not happy
As soon as we walked in the front door we were upset. I had all my kids take their shoes off outside and as soon as we all walked on the carpet we started getting stickers. There was not a clear spot that did not have stickers. In the downstairs bedroom the electrical outlet did not have a cover on it. Not a good thing to have with kids running around. Upstairs the tile floor was broken and left to were it could cut a foot if you walked on it. We had no AC the first two nights and no one could sleep cause it was so hot. Water stains all over the walls and the window unit AC downstairs dripped water the entire time, the unit is right over the bed so it was getting us wet while we were asleep. The only thing this place had going for it was the view. The staff was VERY rude when I checked in. Not at all what I expected for the amount of money we paid."

"It was OK
I didn't really enjoy staying in a complex. Right on the beach, but the boardwalk across the dunes made getting to the beach feel like a bigger hassle than it really was. Security lights outside shine through the window blinds and kept the kids awake at night."

"Would not stay at this unit again!!
WE have been going to Lost Colony for many years, this was the first time that the unit we got was very outdated,we had actually stayed in this unit many years ago and it was in desperate need of updating. We were told we were getting another unit over
the phone any because we have stayed at lost colony many times in the past I was familiar with where this unit was located. But we got Unit #1 and besides the upgrades that were deperately needed we had a problem with ants, we brought some ant spray and spent
most of our stay dealing with ants. I am sad to say we will not return to Lost Colony in our next visit. Unless we get an updated unit. Sincerely, Mrs. Giguere"

"Beach house in Port Aransas
We have stayed in Port Aransas many times. The location of this house was spectacular! It was very close to the beach and the pool, but the pool left a lot to be desired. The house itself was also less than great. No covered porch or balcony, not exceptionally clean, and seemed in poor repair. We love Port Aransas and will be back, just in a different property."

"Disappointed with the accomendations. Property is in need of a total make over.,
The dwelling was misrepresented. Beach access was OK but cottage not fronted on beach as communicated verbably or on the website. The check in office signage was poorly displayed on Hwy 361 with construction work obscuring the small sign. Advanced caution and instructions would have been appreciated. The cottage: 1/2 of lights did not work. Oven was very dirty. Light burnt out over cooktop and burners did not fit the the rings-pots cooked on an angle. Furniture was old and soiled--we covered with towels. Outside furniture was old, dirty and not usable. Microwave was shorted out and non-operable. Much more. Beach was good."

"
The Seashell Retreat 1LC was in unacceptable condition. The house was mosquito and termite infested and the entire house had a strong mildew odor. When the issue was raised to the property manager via email, there was absolutely no response back regarding the poor conditions. Very displeased with the overall experience and I will go out of my way to discourage people I know from utilizing the PortAescapes rentals."

While there was plenty of space in the unit, I was very dissatisifed with the overall condition and quality of the property - especially for $300 per night. My expectations were higher."

"Unit needs lots of work
The place really needs to be updated and repaired and was not worth even the discounted rate. Sheetrock was cracked and needed fresh paint, black mold on the A/C vents, furniture was old, sofa couch was broken, water leaked thru first floor ceiling, sliding door was almost impossible to open and close, gate hinge on deck rusted through. The carpet was new, but was so thick you couldn't open the closet doors. It was at least clean and the towels were thick and new."

"Sorry to not be postive for our owner friend!
We've stayed so many times at the owner's B&B that we expected great things here. Sadly, the property manager was uncooperative about directions to the property from our groups' multiple arrival points. On arrival, we found the property to be way below normal cleanliness standards - black mold around shower doors and slider to deck, cooking utensils that were put away dirty, pet hair on furniture, and heat/air ducts with dust and dirt hanging from them. We won't ever return."

"Spend a little extra if you can.
The place was nice. The location was perfect for us. 9 miles from the ferry. Far enough out of town to be more private, but close enough for a quick run if needed. My main complaint is it wasn't that clean. There was mildew in a lot of places. The place needs a thorough going over and some updating. So in conclusion if you can afford it, spend a little extra and go someplace nicer. If not, it is definitely tolerable."

"Nice location and set up but unkept
The property is in a great spot and the agency was nice but lacked attention to detail that is imperative to housing renters. Mildew/Mold in bathrooms - specifically shower(s), rusty and old fixtures AND the floor of the kitchen looks like it is going to FALL THROUGH! Appears as if the owners or agency just needs to spend some time on a few of the details.

Problem started as taking showers where you are quite literally staring down mold is gross. The other minor details / lack of maintenance is overlookable but once you notice something that bothers you everything else seems to jump out."
