"Spring Break Getaway
Surf Dweller 104 was a perfect getaway for our family during spring break. The unit was clean and comfortable, and convenient to the beach, just steps from the boardwalk. It was spacious and easily accommodated six adults and an infant. A few cosmetic upgrades would be nice, but we have stayed in other units in this building, so we were already aware that this is an older complex. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a quiet getaway with lots of space and easy beach access. We will definitely stay here again!"

"October vacation
Overall we had a really great experience. We specifically picked 104 surf dweller to walk out to the beach. We were able to do that one day of our stay due to workers blocking it off to do maintenance the rest of our time. So that was a bummer. We arrived to a very clean unit. You can tell the unit is older, but there have been some nice updates to some things. It was a great space for our family of 6 and we would choose to come back. "

As discussed at the office we had several concerns. The unit was not ready on time and we were not notified as promised when it was clean. The unit clearly needs an update as it was quite shabby with worn out furniture, linens, and kitchen. Even the shower heads were gritty. The broken things in the unit we already itemized for you and I understood that you would contact the owner. In July apparently the June grass (algae) is dense so we didn't have the beautiful water and beach this area is famous for. "

"1980’s retreat
Wow! Let’s begin, Welcome to the kitchen where u will NOT find a spatula ( I had to buy one) sharp knife (to cut and prepare food) the ice maker is broken with a note inside paper towel holder is broken. Next, the wonderful A/C, which only cools the family room and kitchen. You will NOT get air in either bedroom - we bought 2 box fans to have some sort of reprieve. Now to the master bedroom- **** roaches, bedding so old that it’s coming apart, dresser drawers that no long operate on the track (beware they fall out.) Shower curtains in both bathrooms have mold on them. The bedding in this room is also worn. OH! The carpet in both rooms is nasty, stained and feels gross to walk on. The family room drink coasters are molded. The sofas are dirty and dingy and u feel the springs when sitting on them and the rug underneath them is so old/dirty you see the tile impressions. The lighting is horrible throughout the unit.The dryer has to run 3 cycles before ur clothes are dried. Only found 1 operating smoke detector, the others had no power. The outdoor patio was ok but one high top chair was broke. It should not be rented until it’s renovated from top to bottom. I didn’t call the agent because nothing could be fixed - it’s needs a renovation. We did enjoy the fact that the unit is very sound proof, you don’t here your neighbors, always hot water, pool was clean, great location to the beach, love the beach service, kitchen was large. The advertisement of the unit has old pictures which is misleading. Very unsatisfied."

"Perfect Location
Very clean, and large, we had 8 people and plenty of space! Was disappointed that the under the counter ice maker didn’t work and the master bedroom patio door didn’t open. Short walk to beach access and short drive to Boardwalk and Dewey’s Restaurant in Destin! Crab Trap and Dewey’s (harbor front) was best seafood ever! "

"Comfortable ground floor condo

"Patio unusable
The property was just like described and perfect location to the beach, but the problem with this property which made my families stay unpleasant is you could not use the patio at all. A dirty diaper was thrown from a condo balcony above us landing at our feet, lit cigarettes were thrown down one almost hitting my child on the head! Then to top everything else the condo owners on the third floor threw water over their patio and it land right on us. These owners told us that they own their condo and can do what they want and that we are just renters. Unbelievable!! We repeatedly called the realtor office but nothing was done and they didn’t even try to make things right. If you rent this condo plan on not using the patio and if you do, keep your head up because no telling what may land on you."

The condo description is exactly what we experience. Beach was right in front of condo which facilitated taking beach towels, beach toys, and of course the alcoholic beverages! "Fun Family Memories
A perfect vacation rental! Covid was wearing on us, & we just wanted a fun getaway. This condo was very roomy, & comfortable. Very clean, & well equipped. Being on the ground floor & having easy access to the beach came in very handy for my elderly mom. Also the complimentary beach rental was a bonus! The only down side was poor WiFi connection."

"PERFECT!
Condo was clean, bedrooms were large, and the ease/accessibility to the beach and parking were AWESOME! Loved being able to leave our sandy beach items on the patio and not drag through the condo. We parked right outside our front door which made loading/unloading a breeze. Beautiful view, very short walk to the beach, and getting chairs/umbrella was easy every morning with the beach service. Will definitely stay again. MUCH prefer over a high rise condo with parking garage and fighting for space on the beach. One Happy Family :) "

"Great place to stay!!
This is a great place to stay along the gulf. Only steps to the beach and even closer from the ground floor. We had no problem checking in or out and the place was clean. Plenty of parking but there are a few tight spots. Only a few minor issues which were the WiFi was hit and miss and the ice machine inside the unit was not working. Still, no where near enough to put a damper on our trip. We had an awesome time and would definitely stay there again whenever we return."

Nice Spacious Unit with quick and easy access to the beach. Appliances need to be updated and Wireless Access Point needs to have the signal boosted or put in the center of the unit. Overall Very Nice Unit. Neighbors above were a little loud the first couple days of our stay but once reported the situation was remedied. "

"Great condo with bad air conditioner
The condo is very spacious, it's was a lot bigger than we thought it would be. It has a great washer and dryer. The kitchen is stocked well with pots, pans, and utensils. It could use more baking sheets. All 3 beds are very comfortable. The pull out couch bed well that's a different story, but they are never really comfortable. It has a great patio with enough chairs and tables. We over all loved the condo except we burned up all week. The air conditioner SUCKS. We slept at night without covers and still woke up sweating. The condo has very small televisions in all 3 rooms. The pool was always clean and a very nice size. I never found the hot tub. I would recommend the condo if they could fix the air."

Ground floor unit that is very convenient. The beach was beautiful and a very short walk away. This unit has some updates but could use more. TVs for example are pitiful - small CRT units in bedrooms! Come on people, TVs are dirt cheap."

"Nice But Disappointed!
One of my priorities was to find a room on the first floor with a swimming pool. Although this room was on ground level, we still had to walk on spaced pavers, through sea oats, weeds, sand spurs, etc. to get to the boardwalk. Room was "nice" but I expected more for the price I was paying. Love seat in living room and bedroom need to be replaced! Pots and pans in kitchen need to also be replaced! You could also remove the big tree in the living room and add more seating. But, did love being able to park in the shade under the tennis courts!"

"Family Beach Time
This was a family vacation with my husband, my adult son, my adult daughter, with her husband,11 month old, and 2 teenage sons. The condo was very spacious and we loved the ground floor! Not having to wait on elevators is always a plus. And being able to walk out the back a couple of steps to the boardwalk and right to the beach was wonderful! We would definitely stay here again. The only problem we had was the sliding glass doors were hard to open and close. "

"Great Fall Break Getaway
This was a great trip for our family of 5 for Fall Break. The condo was spacious and clean and we loved having the full kitchen. It was also great that we could just walk out our patio and walk just a few steps and be on the bridge leading to the beach. This location was perfect and would definitely stay in this unit again. Just a couple suggestions would be to have some air fresheners throughout the unit as there is an odor mainly in the living area. We never could really pinpoint what was causing the odor, but it smelled mildewy. We bought some air freshener and used it throughout our stay. The only other thing is the sliding door from the living room to the patio was very difficult to open. It did not slide very easily. None of these things,however, would deter us from coming back. "great unit, great location, great value, smelly couches
We arrived in Ft Walton about 3 hours before check in, but the folks at Alicia Hollis let us check in early since the condo was ready. Check in and check out were quick and simple.
Positives: We needed a condo big enough to house 6 adults and a 1 year old, so we chose this 2 bed 2 bath unit. The unit was very clean with plenty of room. The master bedroom is huge. The guest bedroom had 2 queens, but still had room for the pack and play for the 1 year old and an inflatable twin bed for one of the adults. Everyone slept well. The beds were quite comfortable with memory foam on the tops. Bathrooms worked very well. The appliances and utensils were modest but quite functional. There was a utility room that had a washer and dryer, which was a pleasant surprise. The patio level has many positives. With a small child, we could exit out the back of the unit and go directly to the beach and return easily. The patio had it's own hose to wash off when returning. A lot fewer steps than if staying on other floors. The patio area was quite large, approximately twice the size of the balconies above, with room for several deck chairs, two tables, a lounge chair, and plenty of room left on the concrete for beach supplies such as a canopy and other equipment. These didn't have to be trucked through the condo, saving a lot of sandy clean up. This location was very relaxed, but it was also quiet.
Negatives: the living room couches had a certain odor that resembled pet urine or mold or something. Febreeze couldn't mask it for long. This didn't cause problems, but it was unpleasant. The kitchen did not come with paper towels and coffee filters, which we thought would be there. The oven takes quite awhile to preheat, and may be on its last legs. One bathroom came with one roll of toilet paper, the other one with only two rolls. The front screen door wouldn't latch, although we didn't use it since the AC was on. "Great for a girls getaway
We really enjoyed our stay in this condo. The only complaint I have is that the thermostat would not cool below 73 degrees. It stayed closer to 75 most of the time, even when it was set lower. This was not a problem to me, but I can see it being an issue for someone who was hot natured. We enjoyed the large patio and being right on the beach. There is a dune between the patio and the water, so you do have to walk a few feet over to a bridge to get over that. We would definitely stay in this unit again. "

"Great Place!
We have enjoyed our extended stay in the condo. It is in a great location and we enjoy first floor living. Yes, we have sandunes in front of the patio but they do not block the view; they add to it! The condo is spacious and comfortable. The linens and some of the outdoor furniture need some updating but other than that no complaints. Amanda at Alicia J. Hollis Realtor has been very helpful and friendly. We have enjoyed working with this company and will definitley tell our friends! Great family vacation place or somewhere to call home temporarily."

We thought the condo was very nice, however, the view of the beach was blocked by the dunes and the photo online didn't reflect that or we probably would have chosen another unit. Hopefully the screen door on the front door is fixed as it locked us in, but maintenance promptly came over and let us out!! A great stay, good price, and will probably visit Surf Dweller again."

"Enjoyed our stay!
The condo was very nice and clean. We loved being on the ground floor for easy access to the beach. The large porch was enjoyed by everyone. It was nice for the kids to be able to play in the sand at the edge of he porch when we didn't want to be on the beach. We had red flags for most of the week (the water was rough and wasn't as pretty as usual), and the kids were afraid to get in the Gulf, so they really enjoyed the pools. One thing I would ask the owners to think about doing would be to add a lock on the front door, high and out of reach of small kids. My 4 year old was able to unlock the deadbolt and open the door by himself. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation and would love to visit again!"

The condo was beautiful and met all our needs and then some! The only down side was on the evening of July 3 and 4 parking was unavailable (there were lots of cars without parking passes) We reported this to the real estate agent and he said he would look into this. We loved everything otherwise!

"Surf Dweller 104 review
We had a wonderful time and the condo was great! We have never stayed on the bottom floor and wasn't sure we would like it but it was great. The beach was not packed in front of our condo and the complimentary chairs just added to how great everything was. If I HAD to say something that could be improved, the ice maker (not the one in the freezer) wouldn't make much ice and some of the rugs needed cleaning (in bathroom). But other than that, we would love to come back and stay!"

"Seaside heaven
The apartment is on the ground floor and seaside. There is a small dune in front of the patio, disappointed at first, but I found I loved it! I could sit on the patio and view the beauty of the dune, it's grasses and oats, and have a beautiful view of the ocean over the dune without the view of sun bathers to detract from it. The location was really central to our activities."
