"Westwinds 4724
Westwinds is in the Sandestin Resort area of Miramar Beach. What a beautiful area. What a nice complex. Pool area is nice, tiki hut was open in October serving lunch and beach drinks. The beach is great. However, I'm not certain I would rent beach chairs and umbrellas again. I rented 6 for the week; the cost was nearly $1,000. However, at Westwinds, the rented chairs sit BEHIND beach-goers' chairs and umbrellas. Next time, I'll just go to Alvin's and purchase beach chairs and umbrellas for a better view and cost saving. Condo 4724 is on the 3rd floor near the stairwell. Two boys came each night at 11 pm and rang the doorbell before running down the stairs causing our baby to wake. The view is ok but not as good as from a higher floor. The bathrooms need updating. One of the tubs didn't drain well. The tubs were 40 year old white tubs with white tiles and shower curtains. No Keurig coffee maker and the coffee maker hadn't been cleaned for sometime. The mold needed to be cleaned prior to use. Furniture was in good shape but needs to be updated.

This property needs updating. The hall bath does not drain. Very sparsely equipped kitchen. No closet in 3rd bedroom. Walls in dire need of painting. No rules enforced around pool. Kids in diapers in large pool. Wild children uncontrolled by parents. 2 elevators out in the building."

"Panoramic beach view
We had a great stay in this spacious Westwinds unit. The floors and kitchen seem newly renovated and the beds were all comfortable. We enjoyed many hours on the fabulous wraparound balcony. We hope to rerun for another vacation soon!"

"Great View
Unit felt very dirty and in need of maintenance. Needs paint on walls and baseboards, plumbing in primary bathroom makes very loud noise when toilet is flushed and shower is run. I reported these isues and was told they are aware of the plumbing noises, and they would send housekeeping out to touch up the unit (did not happen). Very disappointed and would not stay here again. It's a shame because the view is beautiful. The pros are it had ice cold AC, new washer/dryer, new refrigerator, and decent sofa. Everything felt dirty. Tried to move units when we arrived, but nothing else was available on the beach with 3 bedrooms. Very disappointed."

"Wonderful Family Vacation
The perfect spot for a family vacation. The beach was beautiful and private. The condo was the perfect size for our family and very clean. The rental agency was very pleasant to work with. Our only disappointment was that the pool was not heated, but it was due to the freeze and that impacted a lot of properties, not just this one."

"Clean. Great Location. Dated decor
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Westwinds is a wonderful property and the location within Sandestin is fantastic. And we used Xplorie (came with the vacation rental) to book a golf outing and that was excellent. Regarding the unit itself: The view from our 3rd floor balcony was outstanding. The unit was fine, though a bit dated in terms of decor and condition. The washer/dryer definitely needs to be replaced. The laminate in the master bath is peeling. And one nagging issue we called in late Monday with the master bath shower never was resolved. Someone from Gibson came out on Wednesday and confirmed what we were experiencing and called it in, but nothing was ever done about it. We never heard another word. "

"Cannot beat view/location
We have stayed at Sandestin on multiple occasions and have enjoyed the resort each time. The view from the 3rd floor was great and you are close enough to hear the waves. The rental was clean however it is in desperate need of updates. Starting with the mattresses!! The one in the back master was horrible and caused us to have back pain. The twin ones were so bad that one of the guests ended up sleeping on the couch. Next the washer and dryer were functional however a knob was missing and you would have to switch the knob from the washer to the dryer to be able to use it. Besides the back ache our stay was pleasant. There was plenty of kitchen supplies and we enjoyed sitting on the huge balcony. With a few updates I fee that this place could be amazing. "

"Westwinds 4724 Not Great
The location and view was great! However, the unit needs renovated badly!!! The toilet in the master bathroom makes a loud noise every hour 24/7 so you couldn’t sleep at night. The master bathroom tub has a leak. The tile floor throughout the unit makes a noise when you walk on it. The sofa and lovesestcin den is really really old. I would definitely not rent this unit again!!!!’"

"Family week beach stay
Beautiful condo with great layout. Open windows with large deck. Windows with view in most rooms. Tile could be replaced due to cracking. Mattress in 2nd King room could be replaced due to wear and living room furniture also could be updated due to wear. Overall nice condo with beautiful views. "

"Westwinds Vacay
The condo is set up perfect with 3 bedrooms/3 baths. My only complaint is that the property needs to be updated in many ways. All window coverings have cornices, bathrooms are in bad shape, tile floor has lots of cracks, and the furniture is very tired looking. Loved the location and the views. I would love to rent this again, but probably would not until some changes were made. "

"Nice View but some issues
The place is very average. While it was cleaned thoroughly, the condo needs work. The floor tiles are cracked and loose, the chair cushions are torn, the couch cushions have lost all fluff, the deck furniture is awful (old, not comfortable), the paint throughout the unit has been touched up many times and does not match, the water heater is tiny (one shower and then cold) and worst is that awful coffee maker. Step up and get a Koerig. The beds are ok and as I said it was clean. We have stayed in Westwinds many times, and this was the most disappointing so far. Not terrible but terribly average with some big issues to fix. Oh and the app didn't work. It had the wrong codes for entry."

"Great Condo
We stay at the Westwinds about twice a years and always love it! This is our first time in this unit and it did not disappoint. Plenty of room and a great location. We had one problem with a toilet and it was fixed upon request."

The location of this unit was excellent! Great views of the beach & ocean from the living room with a nice wrap around deck. The unit, however, needs some work: the floor tiles were loose in many area (and in some cases completely missing!), the bathrooms could use some updating. We had a problem with the AC not working for a couple of days. property management sent people to fix it, but it took 2 attempts over 2 full days to get it corrected."

"Westwinds 4724 - Beautiful Ocean Views
This condo was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We come to Destin every year and love the Sandestin area, there is so much to do! Baytown Wharf is one of our favorite places to visit when we stay.
During our stay we had a few issues with the condo such as the AC going out, and a weird situation with the floor, but Gibson was on top of things. They immediately sent service out to the condo to ensure the everything was restored to working order. Their customer service and how they handled things was top notch and because of this, I would definitely stay at a Gibson property again. "

"Great view, location, but beware
This condo in in a great location and has a beautiful view of the beach! The reviews that say it is outdated are true, but that isn’t a surprise, you can see that from the photos. It is well equipped, clean and comfortable. We had a couple issues with the main door to the building. The code we were given didn’t work, but another renter let us in. We arrived at 1:30 am so we were grateful she was there. Gibson got us a new code the next day. The second day of our week vacation the master bathtub backed up and would not drain. Two people came to try to unplug it without success. We were told a Plummer would come by to fix it. No one else ever came and I messaged several times asking about it. We were not able to use that shower for the rest of our stay and the hall bath also had a draining issue. Showering in ankle deep water got really old and we had to share that bath with others, it was inconvenient. We rented a three bedroom three bath so everyone could have their own bathroom. Gibson was very responsive when I reached out to them, but they dropped the ball getting the tub fixed. Hopefully they have fixed the plumbing issues, defiantly ask before you rent this unit!!"

"Baseball Vacation
The unit has a wonderful view and in a great 3rd floor location! It was clean with cute decor. TVs in two bedrooms need to be upgraded. It also needs more dishes (only 5-6 available), utensils (very few in the drawer) and it needs some cutting knives. The kitchen basically has very little other than some drinking glasses! "

"Nice, but not great
It wasn't as clean as it should have been. I vacuumed the floors & cleaned our bathroom. The master bathtub drained poorly & when running the shower, there was a leak in the ceiling that would drip.
The furniture was pretty worn.
We loved the location, but because they are still working on Hwy 98, traffic was terrible, & we were not even there at peak season.
We did like the ease of check in & communication with Gibson Beach Rentals was good. I texted them several times & they always got back with me promptly."

"Need to check this condo for bed bugs
Not the best. Many of the balcony chairs were broke and uncomfortable to sit in to enjoy the balcony. I booked this room for the balcony. Washer got rust stains on most of my clothes. When I got back home, a week later I had to have my house treated for bed bugs. I’m not accusing this condo of bed bugs but it needs to be inspected. Cost me $1880 to have my house treated and this condo is the only place we’ve been ."

"Great Vacation
We had a great time visiting Miramar Beach and staying at Westwinds, however we had a few problems that were fixed immediately, a rattling ceiling fan and lights went out in two bathrooms, they were both fixed very quickly and we had no problems at all after that, condo was very clean and well kept, everything we needed we had there. I would definitely recommend Westwinds to everyone!!"

"Great Views From Condo, but inside is worn out.
We spent two months in this condo. The views from the deck are outstanding. Westwinds is well-maintained and loved the heated pool and beach access. However, the condo seemed worn out. Tiles were coming up, wash/dryer machine pieces were falling in our hands, no updates to bathrooms and in general, this condo appears to have had a lot of rental use and very little TLC. If you're there for the beach - not a bad rental. If you're a snowbird it is questionable. "

Beautiful view, great location, beautiful pool, but condo was very dated, living area very narrow, and unit was not maintained well or as clean as it should be. Could not recommend unit. Staff was wonderful. Pool bar only open on weekends for a few hours."

"Beachfront escape
Our family of 6 had a wonderful week at Westwinds. The 3 bedroom condo was just as described and I would rebook. The building and grounds were clean and beautifully maintained during the week and although some routine maintenance was going on it was not disruptive. Fire alarm system was tested and exterminator made a quick visit but these minor events are part of keeping the facility in excellent condition. Gibson rentals was available by phone to answer our few questions and encouraged us to use the free activities administered by Xplorie. One of us utilized the free golf rounds twice and the movie rentals were fun (though we couldn’t find the vending station that was closest to our condo and drove to Fudpuckers to select movies). All in all it was a great vacation and I was very satisfied with our choice of booking Westwinds through Gibson Beach Rentals."

We had a wonderful time at Westwinds This is the 2nd time to this condo. The condo is well furnished with 4 beach chairs, 2 umbrellas and small beach tables. The unit we stayed at was on the 3rd floor near the stairs with a great ocean, pool and beach view. Loved the location as the we never had to wait for elevators. Just out the door and down the stairs to the heated pool, hot tub and beach."

"Paradise in the panhandle
This condo is lovely! We stocked up on food at the local Publix which is close and spent as much time as we could at the beach. The property management company is extremely helpful. They provided us with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Upon checkin they had left a small insulated bag for us to have as well as a container of salt and pepper and various spices.
From the property management office, we borrowed DVDs to watch in the evening. In addition, we played golf one afternoon and visited the outlet mall which is a short drive from the condo.
Wonderful relaxing vacation."

"Snowbird Rental
Again we stayed at Westwinds for a few months, and were pleased to see new sofas this year to replace the old ones that were sagging in the middle. Property is in need of a little TLC in some areas now, paint touch up, bathroom upgrade in the future. The twin beds and king bed in the guest rooms, are showing wear and a new mattress/topper on the second Kingsize bed may be considered as it is not too comfy to sleep on for more than a night or so. "

"Great Family Beach Trip
The condo was very nice. 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, enough room for 4 ladies to get ready in. The bedrooms were roomy and the beds very comfortable. View was gourgeous and spent a lot of time on the balcony in the early morning watching the sun come up and sipping coffee. Beach and pool were perfect - not crowded and plenty of room to relax. The only inconvenience was all the security codes you have to keep track of. Other than that, I would highly recommend this rental."

This rental did not disappoint. We only stayed three nights, but this place felt like home as soon as we walked in. I am very picky about where I stay while on the beach, and this rental was at a perfect location. The beautiful ocean view was breathtaking, especially during that early morning coffee on the huge balcony! I'm a picky renter, but surprisingly I have no complaints! I highly reccommend this rental for your next stay!"

"Sandestin Westwinds
My family had a wonderful trip to the beach, the condo was beautiful and clean. The only downside to our trip was the crystal clear ocean we were looking forward to was full of seaweed. My only suggestion for the resort would have been a "general store" within walking distance for provisions. Publix and Walmart are only a short drive away though.
We had booked this condo a year ago when we suffered the sudden loss of my husband the night before our departure. We had not purchased trip insurance, but the owners graciously credited our stay. So I was able to bring the grandchildren and watch them play on the beach that their Papa loved so much. Thank you.

"West winds at Sandestin is always a great place to stay!
We have stayed in 4724 for the past 5 or 6 years. The condo is spacious and has many upgrades that make it feel like home. Upon arrival the place was very clean. Location us great on the 3rd floor allowing for great view of the pool and ocean without having to wait long on elevators when they are busy. Parking garage is great and the walks on the property are fantastic along scenic golf course and bay. The unit could still use some upgrades particularly the bathrooms and the last couple times we have had trouble with the master bath toilet which is something you don't won't to deal with on vacation in terms of the inconvenience and having to have people come in to the unit to fix it. Other than that a perfect trip as usual."

"King/Budd adventure
Overall the rental experience was very good. However, the day we arrived the sheets in one of the bedrooms had blood stains on them and there were items actually on the bed under the comforter which proved maintenance had not changed the sheets. In addition, the day after we arrived, the electric outlets from the kitchen to the back of the unit did not work."

"Summer 15' Westwinds 4724
Sandestin is a beautiful resort, and the Baytown Wharf is really convenient for entertainment. Location and pool area at Westwinds were very nice. However, the condo is run down, and in need of updating - multiple broken tiles, rusty deck furniture, stained furniture, outdated fixtures. Frankly, I've stayed in nicer places at half the price."

If your looking for a condo with close proximity to the beach, the restuarants and shopping of Baytown Wharf and The Grand Blvd Westwinds 4724 gives you all of that. From the expansive balcony you have and unobstructed view of the Beach and west towards Destin, directly overlooking the Westwinds pool. We had booked another condo before 4724 and when we left 4724 for the other condo the first thing I told my wife was I missed the Swivel chairs (4) that 4724 had. Great View!!! Great Condo!!! Great Service by Gibson!!!"

"7 Days in Paradise
Although the location was "paradise" and I loved the location, the condo we stayed in needed some TLC. The unit was nice, but it needed some updates in plumbing. There were leaky faucets, shower that dripped water from the ceiling and a stopped up toilet that was fixed on Day 2. Several of the floor tiles were cracked and closet doors continually came off of their rails. Also one of the chairs on the balcony was broken and if someone had sit on it, they could have been hurt. One of the comforters in the kids room had a hole in it. Setting those issues aside, Westwinds was in a perfect location and I would definitely stay there again. The pool was beautiful and Debbie Sue who worked at the pool was fabulous. The unit like I said was nice and with some care could be outstanding. With what it costs to stay in that great of a location, there should be no issues of maintenance not properly done. "

"Gulf-front 3-BR Sandestin Condo
Stayed in Westwinds 4724 in September 2014 and we were very pleased. Great views - all 3 bedrooms could see the gulf. This is a 4th floor unit even though it is on 'floor #3' because bottom floor is called 'G'. It's on the end of a hallway, right next to exit stairs, so you have easy access to the staircase if you want to avoid the elevators. All the amenities, clean well-maintained furnishings. The Westwinds Tiki Hut in pool area was closed (after Labor Day) but easy to take small cooler to beach or pool. Beautiful massive pool and hot tub, with separate kiddie pool. Very nice workout room off the pool. Elephant Walk bar & restaurant a short beach walk. Rental chairs & umbrellas available from beach service, even though they were placed too close to each other. Unit had 2 umbrellas and chairs in laundry closet as well. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we will be back."

Overall very good, view from the third floor unit no 4724 is excellent. Unit was in overall very good condition with a very few exceptions, we did have one broken chair on patio, and one lamp did not work in Master Bedroom, and Ice maker dispenser did not work. Unit was clean and overall well maintained.
The Vacation to go management staff was a bit disorganized, we stopped at the office on the way in to pick up wrist bands for pool use only to find them already in our room. When we were to leave, I called on Saturday morning a half dozen times to see if we were to leave these same bands in our room or to return them to the office as written information has directed us to do, I never got anyone to answer the phone. We took bands to office only to find out we could have left them in the Condo. this was a bit annoying, other than two elevators being out of commission on Saturday morning when were leaving all was very good and we would return."
