"Great Location but meh
The location is great but the house is old and a bit rundown. We had issues with the TV not working but staff at Cannon & Gruber, the property company, responded quickly several times. Mike, the handy man, went above & beyond to get it working and came back when there were still issues on our third day. The roof leaked during a storm and the door on the top floor did not lock. It needs some refreshing. "

"Sand Castle - Atlantic Beach
Overall, Sand Castle was a great experience. The house, although a little older, was in good shape. We also really enjoyed being just a couple of miles from Fort Macon, and having our own personal walkway to the beach through the dunes. "

"Meh
Canon and Gruber are amazing so this is NOT a review of them! We were moved to this house after orginal reserved had issues. This house is old and dirty in a lot of places. Mold on the ceiling and in bathrooms. IT is very large and could accomdate a lot of people BUT if you want to cook, the oven and stove are barely functional - we cook and were unable to. You are a long walk from the beach and can see the ocean but not the beach."

"Convenient, Clean, and Roomy!
We had a great stay at the Sand Castle! The home was clean, spacious, and in a nice location. The private walkout was a bit weedy and tricky getting over the dune, apparently atlantic beach does not allow homes to build a walk out over the dunes. We discovered the public beach walkout just on the other side of the neighbors house was much easier to travel with a wagon and family members that have a hard time walking. The beach was very wide and not crowded. It's a farther walk to the ocean than anticipated. We also could not see the beach over the dunes from the deck. We did have a problem with the dryer not working but the realtor was quick with a response and had a repair man out the next day. Unfortunately it required a new part and could not be fixed til Thursday. We made the best of the situation and was able to laundry before heading home. The bedrooms were very spacious and had nice size closets and bathrooms. The kitchen is a little small for a home that sleeps 10 and the furniture in the living room could use an update along with more seating at the dinner table. It is nicely decorated but some are visibly broken and dusty. It could do without some decorations to allow for the occupants things. The garage was a nice added bonus to store our beach items in. Overall, we had a fun and relaxing week and that's what matters most. "

Great House, needs some maintenance. Kitchen needs new appliances and yard needs better upkeep. Stairs from the decks to the walkway to the beach would be nice. I would stay here again."

"Sandcastle
Property description is not accurate. Two of the bedrooms are adjoined by a common bathroom. This does not allow for much privacy. Refrigerator is in bad shape- missing the pieces that hold items in the door. Living room couch is in bad shape-seat is torn. You have to go out the front door,street side, and back around the house to get to the beach. It is 100 yards to the beach with the last bit over a steep dune, wooden walkway only covers the first 75 yards. Outside trash collection cans were full when we arrived. Occupants have to put trash out themselves. I have rented from other agencies, they have people who do this for the renter. I am on vacation- don't want to remember to put the trash out. Wi-fi signal does not reach the entire house. Good- Beds comfortable, lots of beach stuff in the basement."

"Charming Beach House Getaway!
Sand Castle was a superlative home for our family holiday week! We particularly enjoyed the walking-distance proximity to Fort Macon State Park and the home's carefully chosen beach decor. Each room was uniquely decorated: we named the rooms for fun, such as "Monkey's Paw" and "Little Mermaids." This is a very spacious 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home and we certainly plan to return for a future family getaway! Cannon & Gruber was also great to deal with as the realty company handling the transactions."

"Wedding Weekend!
Our wedding weekend!!! We loved the house! We love the rental company and their staff. However, our stay was a little inconvenienced. When I did a visit before renting I had noticed the old soiled linens were still there. Also the housekeeping was spotty. I made a call to the rental company to see if the linen company could come back out to pick them up. The kids and a few adults had to step over the linen pile the whole stay. Not to mention the ones downstairs were discolored for whatever reason. Overall the house and our stay in the house was perfect. "

"Great beach house in Atlantic Beach
Spent a terrific week at "Sand Castle" in July. The property is as close to the beach as you can get -- perfect for our family and 3-yr old granddaughter, and for morning and evening walks down to the pier or up towards Fort Macon. There was plenty of space in the house for everyone. We loved the outdoor shower when we got back from the beach. The beds were very comfy, the kitchen was well-stocked (although several mugs were chipped or cracked), and everywhere was very clean when we arrived. Would highly recommend the house for a family or group of friends."

"Great vacation spot!
We enjoyed our stay at this sweet little spot. We love that the beach was so close to the house. I do wish that someone would cut down on some of that grass back there. We enjoyed sitting on the top deck most nights enjoying the breeze. We also enjoyed spending majority of our time on the beach. There was a grill on site. After some Hefty cleaning we were able to use it. We also noticed some wasps. We contacted the property managers, they took care of it right away. Overall everyone was pleasant and we really enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this spot to others."

Had a great time with family. Despite bad weather. Walk to beach was a little long and at spots obstructed but beach was great. Only issue with the amenities is the dishwasher needs repairs. Rest of family also enjoyed it and we all may return next year"

"Great OCEAN FRONT vacation rental!!!
Our multi-family rented SAND CASTLE for labor day weekend 2016 (with Tropical Storm Hermine).
However it was a great weekend and a great rental for our family of 9 adults and 2 kids! I would definitely recommend this property to others.
The top deck was our favorite spot to relax.
The property had plenty of sand toys for the kids to enjoy.
Then to shower off in the outdoor shower was wonderful.
I read previous reviews about the internet not working well. However the internet worked great! The wifi actually reach all the way out to the ocean’s edge!
The only complaint we had was the living room coffee table was a little unstable with little kids.
Also the TV only received basic channels (however since the TV was a SMART TV we were able to connect to our directv app with a cable to our ipad).
Overall this was a great beach property to rent and I would recommend to others!
Side note: The tropical storm’s wind did knock over the deck patio furniture and broke the umbrella.

"Loved the Sandcastle!
The house was so cute and we enjoyed the "pier one" beach theme! Lots of adorable décor in every room. The bedrooms were spacious especially the master. Loved the plantation blinds throughout. It is obvious the owners love their beach home and want the guests to love it also. Description was pretty accurate, however we were not prepared for the 3 flights of stairs as my mom is handicapped and it was very hard to get up and down. The house was clean, appliances worked, the only recommendation is it could use more cooking/baking utensils. The other reviews regarding construction noise were not a issue as that house is now finished and is beautiful as well! Parking was ok- not room for more than 3 cars but we made it work! We did not want to leave and hoping for another visit next year! Would strongly recommend this vacation home.

Our vacation rental was amazing. The house was perfect! Lots of room and great location. Loved the decks and the view. Had lots of great extras like beach chairs, sand toys, beach umbrellas, grill and the list goes on. I would recommend this house to any one. "

We had a wonderful week with our family with many memories made that we can take with us. The house is much larger than expected and had the most beautiful view of the ocean. "Our stay at Sandcastle.
A beautiful home, easy beach access. Spacious rooms.
We were promised internet access but didn't have it 90% of the time. We reported it but it was never taken care of.
Construction next door blocked our garage most of our stay.
Found some coshroaches ugg!
We had to wash all the dishes and glasswear. All were found dirty in the kitchen cabinets.
Master bedroom carpet had a large stain that should have been removed before we arrived.
Other than the conditions listed above, we had a great vacation and would stay here again as long as these things are resolved.
By the way Cannon and Gruber are great to work with.

"A lot of bangs for your bucks
This beach front property was in a great location except for the fact a house is under construction right next door which subjects one to hammering, sawing, and grinding, all day long, especially during the early morning hours. Also, construction vehicles and trailers from next door block the garage and I was required to constantly ask workers to move their vehicles. There is also a portable toilet used by the construction workers placed right next to this house. The house itself is very nice, however, it is in need of a good cleaning and some refurbishing. At the present time I would not recommend this property to a friend because of it's shabby condition and the construction next door, however, if and when it is given a good cleaning, refurbished, and the construction next door ends, I would certainly recommend it because of it's location and size."

"Will Not Return
First of all, there is only one way in and out of the house unless you jump off a 1 or 2 story deck. Upstairs door does not lock. All of the carpet was absolutely filthy and there was mold in the downstairs bedroom. We could not use the outside shower because the builder of the house next door said he was paying Mrs. Parnell's water bill and the faucet was in the shower which they had to go in. We could not park in the second parking place because of materials used for the new house was sitting on it. Any time we wanted to leave or return in our car, we had to ask the workers to move their vehicles. Trash and soiled clothes were all around the outside. "Stuff" was in every closet of the house, even men's underwear in the upstairs closet! In fact, there was so much "stuff" EVERYWHERE that we didn't have room to put the things we needed to have during our week of vacation. There was no mixer or measuring cups or mixing bowls in the kitchen, even though there were about twenty skillets. Go figure! It was advertised as having internet but internet wasn't installed until five days later. The dishwasher was not attached to cabinet. This cottage was not set up to be a "rental" and this rental agency needs to check this house out before renting it. The good news - we had plenty of towels but we paid extra for that."

Next door there was a home being built so there was no sleeping in-wish we had known in advance of deposit. Had trouble with AC and plumbing and remotes but rental company was quick to reply. Feel maybe a small refund should have been offered for inconveniences. House was very nice. Would rent again if no construction going on."

Great property, very clean, good location, perfect for the group we were with. Our only concern was that there was a group of people in the house when we arrived (they said they were the owners grandson and his friends). Other than that, it was a seamless vacation. I would recommend it to others."
