Step back in time at one of the few remaining original beach cottages on the boardwalk, featuring a spacious outdoor patio with up-close views of the surf. Enjoy one of the Peninsula's best beaches and walk to the Newport Pier, shops restaurants and more!

LIVING & DINING

The living area has a couch, two chairs, coffee table, large flat-panel TV and dining table for four. Preparing food is a snap in the fully outfitted kitchen with tile floors and plenty of counter and cabinet space. Grab breakfast at the kitchen table with seating for four.

BEDROOMS & BATH

The master bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom has a twin bunk bed plus a double bed. Both bedrooms share the pink hall bathroom with shower.

OUTDOOR SPACE

Sitting on the front patio here is akin to having seats on the 50 yard line at a football game! The location is ideal - surfers roll up just below the 28th St jetty providing entertainment from sunrise to sunset. The beach is one of the best in Newport - the waves are up close - perfect for skim boarding, body surfing, boogie boarding and surfing.

The small two-car garage holds the washer/dryer and parking for one car.

THE LOCATION

The location on the boardwalk just below the 28th St Jetty is convenient for exploring the area on foot or by bicycle. The Newport Pier is a quick stroll away with shops and local eateries galore. The pier area has Seaside Donuts, Jane’s Corndogs, Dory Deli and Charlie’s Chili for unforgettable breakfasts. Fly ‘n’ Fish is not to be missed for fabulous seafood, but if you want to prepare your own meal, visit the Dory Fleet Fish Market, selling local fishermen’s daily catch since 1891.

The grocery store is a quick trip away at 32nd St with more shops and restaurants. Try Gina’s for pizza and pasta with the kids or Chihuahua for great salads, tacos and hand-crafted beers. Just around the corner on Newport Boulevard are several casual restaurants – Las Fajitas for healthy Mexican fare, Newport Fresh for sushi, Hook and Anchor has lobster and fresh fish, Pescadou Bistro features neighborhood French cuisine.

The newly renovated Lido Marina Village with its high-end restaurants and boutiques is a few minutes beyond. You can rent an electric boat to tool around the harbor or enjoy a meal with bay views. Visit Lido Village Books serving the area for decades to pick up beach reading by local authors. Via Lido Drugs can fill prescriptions and while you browse hundreds of unique gift items. The Lido Theatre, built in 1938, provides a unique movie-going experience with a balcony and art deco black light décor.

"AN OCEANFRONT DUMP
The location was fantastic but the house was a dump! The bbq didn't work which was a big bummer considering most guests would like to bbq while staying on the beach. The house had very little cooking pans and the ones they had were scratched up teflon pans(carcinogenic). I would never rent this place again and was surprised Burr white rents it out. This place tarnishes your reputation. We have always rented from you and trusted you wouldn't rent out a dumpy place. I recommend you take this off your listings."

"Beachfront Cottage as Advertised
Based on reading reviews and looking at pictures, it is as advertised. The location is the best feature about the house. The house is very dated and bathroom very small for just the three of us, but the location m makes up for it. It would be better if the windows had screens, since that is the only air, and it was pretty warm the week we visited. The grill was electric, which we thought was was charcoal and bought numerous bags of charcoal we donated. There were also boogie boards and a few other items in the garage, that weren't mentioned in the description. That would of been helpful we would not have brought our items. So glad I read the other reviews about the garage and didn't bring our SUV. My car just fit in the garage! This place has so much potential inside for some basic upgrades. Still was a memorable stay and enjoyed our week! "

"The Lil' Cottage by the sea that needs upgrades to stay in the game. It has the potential- just needs a bit of love.
Rented this house before in the past and I can say that not much has been done in 8 years. The bathroom and the patio furniture have been in need of an upgrade since 8 years ago. One chair on the patio is welded together and has a sharp dangerous edge. There are only 3 chairs on the patio? The smell of mold is everywhere especially the back bedroom. The bathroom is still the same with the toilet and floor being the worst. The floor is exposed and you can see the blackness from around the bottom where the toilet sits in the floor. I am sure spending $ 500-600 bucks on a new floor in the bathroom and new patio chairs would be worth the almost $4k a week you are renting the place for.
Dont get me family and I have rented the place more than once and you can not beat the location- but I am seriously finding out that other places are way more modern and about the same price- The lil cottage should put a few more dollars into the place for sure. It has the potential to be an outstanding rental on the beach. Owner's...spend a lil money! I could do wonder's to the place with $1500 bucks. I would love the challenge. :0) "

"A True Frat House Experience…no need to worry about sand…
If you desire that beach front experience make sure you are fully aware of the tradeoffs if you rent this property. The house appears to have been built and not touched since. There was gap in plumbing around kitchen sink so visited by rat nightly. The whole structure heavily used, thankfully clean towels/linens supplied by another co., beachfront but at what price.."

When we walked in the door the strong smell of urine was overwhelming, some windows wouldn't open and others had to be held up with blocks of wood, The cleanliness was very surface, If I didn't have small children I would have left mid-week, wouldn't stay in this house again "

"Perfect beach location...
We could not of asked for a more perfect location. The property was clean on the surface, but needs a REALLY deep cleaning. It also needs to be fumigated for roaches, which were found in the bathroom and kitchen. We didn't take the time to report it, because we used bug spray to take care of the problem temporarily. The stay cost us a lot more money because we ate out after we saw a roach on our food. And, it wasn't like we could be moved to another property. We reported the problem when we checked out and it didn't seem like the agent cared. This property could be a very cute beach house with some TLC. Fix the blinds so you can open them with out the panels falling off, replace the lamp shades, paint and carpet and it would be up to date. We were not notified the garage wouldn't fit a SUV, so we had to pay for parking."

"Sand Shanty
We just recently wrapped up a stay from 8/4 – 11 at 2710 W. Ocean Front. The location was excellent and the local amenities were outstanding. With that being said, this shanty is extremely distressed and in poor condition. The word “dated” was used to describe it on the website. Well, it was unsatisfactory and downright embarrassing considering it was plopped in between two multimillion-dollar properties. The first thing I noticed was dirt on the floors, grime on the counter tops, a dirty coffee pot with old grounds in it, rust all over the exposed metal at the property, inoperative windows, a dirty grill, weird nasty smells and the list goes on and on. There were crumbs under the couch, fruit loops on the floor, and someone’s old clothing left behind. We ultimately cleaned it up ourselves. Thankfully, we didn’t stay inside during the day since the temp exceeded almost 90 degrees each day with no a/c. We had to use cups, sticks and platters to keep the windows open. The fans had grime/dust all over them. This shanty was built in 1926 and the owner clearly demonstrated they have no concern about the condition of the property other than it being a cash cow. However, Burr White should be since they gave the green light to represent this shanty using their name and reputation. The only thing this place had going for it was that it provided shelter at night. With the price point where it was I would've expected quite a bit more than what I received. By no means was I expecting five-star accommodations but I did expect some basics like cleanliness and windows that worked. We could have stayed at the bed and breakfast on the beachfront down the way (where we’ve stayed in the past) for a lot less than I paid for this shanty but instead we chose to give Burr White a try. Maybe the cleanliness issue was a fluke however, I have a sneaky suspicion no one has called them out on it yet. What I do know is I will not be staying there again"

"Eclectic Old Beach House
It's not the fanciest or newest - it definitely needs an update. Our family is 6 and we fit, but only because 4 were sisters. The garage *barely* fit the minivan. No air conditioning.

However ... *it was right on the beach*! And it did cool down as soon as the sun went down so sleeping was fine. We parked one the first day and then walked to everything ... groceries and great food and coffee. And the WiFi was very good.

There are lots of nicer looking properties as you walk along the path. But for us, it let our family enjoy July **right on the beach*! ;-) And Newport is fantastic. "

"Happy Times at the Beach
Have rented from BW 4 times. This is the worst house ever! Topically clean; there was mold around the bathroom sink. Interior anmd exterior paint was old, cracked, peeling and I'm sure that the old paint showing through was LEAD paint. The living room had been painted recently so it was okay. Paint was peeling at the bathroom door, the front door and the back door and the eaves. It was really tacky! The back steps are not within code, I am sure. One of our guests missed the deep first step and fell breaking a toe, hurting her elbow and hip. The steps are uneven, too narrow and awkward. $4000 is way too much for that house. On the good side, the beach was wonderful, sunsets lovely, being on the patio was the best although there was only one lounge chair. I filled out the hard copy and gave it to Burr White when I checked out. This house is not of the quality Burr White generally provides. The Internet was not available for 2 of our 7 days. TV never worked without manual intervention."

We were provided with good customer service. We enjoyed our stay, however, the next door renters were extremely noisy, with 2 large dogs barking. We brought this to the attention when we checked out - and we were told they had heard complaints. There was a window in the living room that was broken and you could not open - it has been like that for the last 3 years, "

"Family Tradition
Fantastic!! Love our little beach bungalow. Once again we were blessed to spend the week of July 4th at 2710 w Oceanfront. Our family had a great time and the house was perfect for us. Love starting our day with our morning coffees on the patio and ending the day with a beautiful sunset and glass of wine from the same spot. Can't wait for next year!"

"beach shack getaway
If you are looking for a traditional beach shack getaway this is the place! The location is perfect. Close enough to walk to everything but far enough away from the heavily populated parking lots/noise. We enjoyed eating all our meals in the sunny view of the beach and boardwalk. The house is definitely older which made it quite charming, but some of the furniture is in need of replacement. The house needs a thorough cleaning, including the walls. The shower and shower curtain had mold. The second bedroom smelled of mold, especially the closet. All that being said, we had a great time! It was a no fuss no muss vacation which was exactly what we were looking for and found . . . it was wonderful. We didn't have to worry about the kids making a mess or anything. "

"We had a great week at this house.
This is a nice house. Dated, but well kept and did the job for our family of 4 for a week. The location is great because it is far enough from the crowded pier but close enough for easy access to everything. Plus, houses in this area are much closer to the water than some those to the south. Our Chevy Tahoe didn't fit in the small garage though so we had to deal with parking on the street. Other than that it was great. Burr White staff was wonderful! "

"Unprofessional and Not worth the aggravation
Damage waiver of $100 was kept because property was stolen out of the garage. Pretty petty since we paid $4000 for the week. We contacted police and filed a report. Even asked homeowners to contact their homeowner's insurance. They decided to keep our damage waiver instead. Never will rent again from Burr White or from this propery."

"Dirty floors , dishes, & silverware. Requested trash cans twice & never received them. Water line on toliet broke. Flooded bathroom. Waited a few hours for plumber. Had to clean up the mess while trying to entertain guests.
Walked to the the pier to use the facilities while waiting for the plumber to come from Whittier. Purchased large trash bags because the house had NO trash cans. Rented in the past from Burr White and had same cleanliness issues."

We did not have advanced reservations and the agent at Burr White was wonderful in helping us find a rental. We are from NC and we really got the Southern California Beach experience. Location of house was perfect however the house is really old with no updates and very basic furnishings. We had a great time anyway."
