"Fun family vacation but filthy house :}
I am not usually the person that writes negative things about anything... But when we got to the property, I cried and was so upset. I have been saving up and planning a family vacation all year. It's the first time I was able to take my whole family (my adult 3 children and their spouses and 3 grandbabies) on vacation so that we could all be together for a week. This house was filthy dirty and in disrepair. I was so very disappointed. And it had a dangerous situation for young children in the 2nd bedroom upstairs. The sliding glass screen door was rusted and broken and couldn't close and was bent off the track on the bottom leaving a large opening...a perfect situation for a young child to put their foot/leg through and fall/get stuck or get cut or really hurt so we couldn't leave the sliding door open during the day (no A/C so was hot with no breeze) without locking the bedroom door to keep the little ones out... it is definitely a dangerous situation. The blinds were filthy and some were trashed, the baseboards and window sills and screens were caked with dirt and the floors were filthy; our feet were all black on the bottom from walking on the floor barefoot the very first night we got there. Other than the dangerous sliding door and the broken blinds and the dirtiness of the place it was a wonderful vacation. Just another note, on Friday and Saturday nights there is ALOT of noise and people partying until 1 or 2 a.m. because this home is just a few doors down from the bars and at 5:30 in the morning the street sweepers start so you won't get a lot of sleep so definitely not a good property for families with small children but would probably be great for young adults just having fun. However, the ocean and the view were awesome and it was wonderful to be able to walk right out onto the beach and people watch on the boardwalk. The beach is beautiful and the sand is very soft. Will definitely go back to Newport for years to come but never to this property..."

"Family Fun
We decided to rent a beach house for Spring Break. This house was perfect for all 5 of us...2 adults and 3 teenage kids. Each room has a bathroom and is roomy. The location was great for shopping, eating and playing on the beach. It's a quick 2 mile bike ride to Balboa for more fun things to do. The house has a great layout. Unlike most beach homes, you get the top and bottom house with a balcony upstairs and patio downstairs. There is a garage and street parking. The only thing it could use is comfortable beds and a little updating on the carpet. We would definitely rent this house again! "

"2314 Oceanview Family Vacation
All in all, this vacation rental is worth it. While not as expensive as many other beachfront properties, it definitely has it's strengths and weaknesses. The location is ideal if you want to be close to where the action is (just a couple of buildings over from the hotel, restaurants, bars, etc). It is great for people watching and just a step away from the beach/ocean. It isn't as renovated as other properties along Oceanfront for sure, but it still is clean and spacious. This property does not have AC and that made it a little hot, stuffy, and humid even in our mid-October visit so it would be something to keep in mind if you are looking for a summer rental. We kept the garage door cracked and the front window open to keep a breeze coming through but with the location, you do hear a lot of folks leaving the bar at night so if you're a light sleeper, it may be a challenging fit. We had ants the first day but called Burr White right away and they took care of everything within an hour. All in all, we're going to be coming back. "

"On the beach
Our two night stay at this house was great. The location can't be beat. Right on the beach. No road for the kids to cross to get there. Located on a dead end, one way street so there isn't much traffic that way either. Within a couple of blocks of restaurants and a bakery. We really appreciated the sand toys in the garage for the boys to play with.

Cons: The house has a garage (or two if you rent both units). It was a very tight turn to get the minivan in the garage if there was a car parked across the street. We ended up parking across the outside of the garage and had no trouble.

The upstairs carpet felt weird. It was like it didn't get rinsed well last time it was cleaned?

The staff at Burr White were very accommodating with our late reservation and arrival."

"Best Weekend Ever!
Our location was outstanding - right on the beach and walkable to everything. Everyone at Burr White was so helpful. The property was clean and looked just like the photos. The only minor problem was that the internet was pretty spotty. Other than that, great girls weekend, we are even considering making it annual! I would highly recommend this property and Burr White as a rental agency. I was able to handle everything over email from NYC - even signing the contract. "

"Wonderful Getaway
Our family and friends enjoyed our stay at this property so much we want to plan a longer stay. With a large family, vacations are sometimes hard to come by but this was well worth it. The location was perfect, the house was clean and inviting and Burr was easy to work with and very accommodating. "

"Good location, neither clean nor well-equipped
This home is in a great location and has nice amenities (balcony and deck, modern kitchen, garage with opener); however, it is not well-maintained, and it is missing many essentials. Upon arrival, it was clear it had not been thoroughly cleaned for some time. The tile floors were sticky with spills and splatters, and the floor around the toilets had what appeared to be urine. The carpets had not been vacuumed. The bedding (mattress pads, blankets) had not been washed, and the mattresses were very uncomfortable with dirty foam egg-crate pads. There was garbage in the decorative pots on the coffee table and dining table. The shades in both bedrooms and living room were broken, so they couldn't be raised. The internet did not work. The barbeque was unusable. Basic items such as kitchen towels, garbage bags, and extra toilet paper were not included. The property management people were always very pleasant, but when I called to discuss the conditions they pleasantly told me to fill out a comment form, and if I wasn't satisfied with the cleanliness I needed to take the matter up with the housekeeper myself. Neither an apology nor an offer to rectify the situation was offered."
