"The Inn @ Dauphin Island, 211
Thought it was great that I received a gate code and door code before arrival. Also the "helpful" info in the text about what to expect on the island, getting groceries prior to coming, etc. The condo (rm 211) was fine, it was clean and had everything we needed. Fabulous view of the beach. Longer walk to the beach than what I'm accustomed to, but no futher than the other places in that area."

"Nice but.......
The place was nice enough. But we had to go out and purchase toilet paper because they only provided 1 and a half rolls for our 6-day stay, with 4 people. There was mold visible on the ceilings in some places and in others, you could tell that it had just been painted over. Somewhat understandable I guess because it's right by the beach, but still, they should monitor that and treat it when it shows up...not just paint over. There was this light...thing...and my 4 year old was curious and touched it and it burned her. I have no idea what it was, but it's dangerous to not have at least a warning sign."

It’s beach front, nice boardwalk to the beach. It wasn’t crowded, there were people around but not “wall to wall” beach chairs. We had room 211, it has a nice view of the beach. There are no Curtians in the living room, it’s not a big deal, the view is great all the time. The room had everything we needed so no complaints. We would stay here again."

Everything about the Inn was great. Location. Beach. Room. Neighborhood. All great
BUT
Don't rent #211 unless you are some kind of exhibitionist or you have no interest in using the den/living room at night. There are no curtains or blinds for the glass doors to the patio. It's not that they're missing or whatever. There's literally no hardware on the walls to hold up blinds. There is nothing there.You can't even hang a sheet to block out the world. You can do like we did in the evenings, turned off the lights and stayed in the bedroom.
I totally recommend the hotel but not room 211."

"Beautiful Getaway
The Inn unit 211 was a great place to stay on the island. It was clean and the views were spectacular! The pools were not crowded. There was a long walk to the beach but not unbearable. I do recommend wearing shoes on the boardwalk as my son got a blister when walking on it during the day due to the heat. The staff and property manager was nice and pleasant to work with. Easy walk across the street for food or Icecream at Island Rainbow, Pirates Pizza, or Reel Deal BBQ. Will definitely stay here again since the island is less commercialized and crowded like other beach towns. "

"Could be cleaner
This property is well furnished and equipped for it's purpose, but it was not clean. Yes, the toilet had the wrapper on it stating it was cleaned and that was fine, but there was a layer of dust on a kitchen chair that left prints on it when I set down an item. Around the bed in the master was caked with dust/dirt. I took a chance, as this was written in MANY other reviews...but was saddend to see that those reviews were accurate and had not been addressed by the owner/prop. mngr. We would love to stay here again, but would truly like to see these issues addressed. There are a few requirements such as the dishwasher must be unloaded prior to your departure and you must start a load of linens in the washer. For the cleaning fee that is paid, I find these to be poor requirements placed on the paying guests. If guests wake in the morning, have breakfast, and prepare to leave by the 10am departure requirement, there is a good risk that dishes could be put away unclean due to time constraints. I just see these as pitfalls that are unnecessary for such a lovely property with a lovely view. "

The island is wonderfully natural and uncrowded with touristy things. We loved it. The Vacation Rental needed some cleaning. The manager was available and helpful. We liked the clean and empty beach, the fishing off the pier, the icecream, the Bird Sanctuary, the convenience store had what we wanted, Snappers at the marina has great food. Property description was accurate but the condo needed cleaning and attention. 2 of the beds were not fully made up. Had to hunt for pillow cases and pillows for bed. Dirty window in bedroom. Grill was dirty and chair on balcony was broken. Warm pool was VERY welcome and loved. Weather was cold and very windy, but we made do. West end for sunset is always glorious."

The condo was ok, does need several upgrades!! There was several things rusted like shower caddy, dishwasher, and silverware. I saw in a prior review there were only 3 wash clothes but assumed that would be taken care of before our arrival and was not! Like was said before 3 wash clothes in the whole place and holes in several towels!! I drove back across the bridge and bought a package of wash cloths and left them for the next guest!! Not a huge deal!! We did have several aggravating things like NO communication on arrival/check in!! I expected an email and finally sent a message on the app with no response!! When we arrived I googled the number to the Inn because we couldn’t get in the gate!! Had traffic backed up and lady who answered was in no hurry to tell us what to do gate code wouldn’t work she wasn’t sure if the # needed to be pushed after the code!!! We finally pushed it and it worked but it was embarrassing and aggravating to deal with when a simple email would have saved a lot of people time and aggravation!! Over all it was good! The pool is right under the balcony which I assume in the busy months is annoying!! We had a couple days it was very loud!! The walk out to the water is nice, the balcony was nice although the lounge chair I assume was left needs to be thrown out it is rusted and springs broken! As long as you don’t expect perfection this place is great but if small things bother you choose another place!! We enjoyed it and would stay again after all the beach is worth it all!!"

"Disappointed
Property was not cleaned to the level expected, dust covered most surfaces and a dirty cup was sitting on the coffee table shelf visible from the entry door. Floors were not clean either. Towels had holes in them and property needs desperate maintenance. A storm came in while we were there and the street side door flooded through to the kitchen, power went out in half the apartment and no one ever responded to our email or voice messages. Very disappointed!!"

"Wonderful time!
We had a great time at The Inn at Dauphin Island Unit 211 and we’ll definitely be back! Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. The beach was great and it wasn’t crowded at all. The kids loved the pool. I loved having a washer and dryer! The gated parking lot was very nice too. We didn’t do much around the island bc of COVID, but everything looked very nice and we can’t wait to come back in more normal times. My 9 year old caught fish right from the beach in front of the inn so he was thrilled with that. I never actually saw it written anywhere but I was very happy to see the property had an outdoor shower for rinsing the sand off everything before coming back inside, also! Already planning next years trip, thanks for a wonderful vacation!"

"Mixed review
The plus of staying at The Inn was definitely the ease of making the reservation. Our unit (211) was adequately furnished. However, the kitchen was very sparsely equipped with only a few plates, one small paring knife, and a tiny cutting board. We enjoy cooking fresh seafood from Skinners but this was quite a challenge given the resources at hand. "

Great beach and pool access. Particularly like this room because of the good art and the fact that the kitchen is well-stocked with utensils/cookware we wanted for a week-long stay. Only complaints were that the freezer's ice machine did not work and it was difficult to figure out how to work the DVD the DVD player was difficult to use(we had to call a maintenance person for help). Perfect vacation spot for our family with young kids. We will return. "

The room I was put in, The Inn 211, was bad. They had one Monitor size tv, no tv in the master bedroom, and on old tv the was not compatible with cable in the living room. Tv's are so cheap today this should not be allowed. The tub stopper did not work, 3 days to fix. No curtains in the living room. This place should have been discounted or not rented."

We have stayed at The Inn many times. A few issues this trip. 1) - yes, check in is 3:00 PM... but when you arrive at 2:30 PM and the room is ready, but you are told you CANNOT have your room til 3:00 PM... ridiculous. I completely understand if the room isn't ready. But when it is, and you and the person at the desk just sit and stare at each other for 30 minutes (waiting til the clock strikes 3:00). 2) - there are signs up everywhere saying that any tents or beach items left on the beach will be hauled off each night. However, while we lugged everything back and forth, most did not and no one had anything hauled off during the night??? So, what's this about? A bluff? Either don't say anything, or do what you say you are going to do. 3) - in unit 211 there is no TV in the master BR. Been nice to know that. In this day and time it's kind of an assumption, unless someone says otherwise. And the TV in the living didn't work correctly... took 3 steps to change the channel and there was no channel guide. We will give it another chance, and if we incur similar experiences we will start spending our money elsewhere. "

"2018 Snowbird Getaway
This unit is awesome. And the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Good appliances and kitchen cooking equipment .. not so many...limited amount... but adequate.
A few suggestions... living room furniture needs replacement. Needs to be replaced with FIRM and SUPPORTIVE couch and chairs. They do have a recliner and it is firm but the leather has seen better days and is spotted and stained.. we are flexible and were able to make it work for us. We know that renters are very hard on furnishings (we are the exception and treat others property with care and respect) and with that being said we enjoyed our stay.
Carpeting (especially in the guest room) needs replacing or removal as it is stained and an eyesore for the unit.
Hope to return to DI.

"Wonderful family-friendly spring break destination!
Our family stayed at this unit on Dauphin Island with our 2 children who will be graduating high school in May. The condo was very clean and well-maintained. The location was great -- the beach just footsteps away -- with access to 2 swimming pools (we definitely appreciated the 1 heated pool as it was chilly during our stay), and several restaurants on the Island. The only downfall with the property is the lack of a hot tub/whirlpool. That would have been the icing on the cake. Otherwise, we made wonderful memories!! Thank you for your hospitality!!"

We were very happy with our stay. The condo has everything you need and is clean! Great price for the location! I would highly recommend.
The Inn is perfectly located on the island. Steps away from the beach and you are close to the restaurants, some within walking distance. The pools are very nice and clean, nice break from the beach!
This was our first trip to Dauphin Island. Not too busy, the beach was pretty empty most mornings. A couple families here and there during the day. I'm sure it is a little busier during the summer months. We checked out the Sea Lab and the Fort one day, good break from the beach especially for kids!
As far as dining I would recommend to go shopping before getting on the island and plan to make meals at the condo. Dining options are nothing special. The Lighthouse bakery is worth a trip, cinnamon rolls and danishes were very yummy! JT's Sunset grill is good for typical fried fish and seafood options. Miguel's Baja n'Beach is a nice taco shop, to go orders only. The Islander is a nice place for dinner.
Not sure if this is normal but we had issues with mosquitos, swarms of huge mosquitos. Would highly recommend bug spray. They were not an issue at the beach but going anywhere else was awful."

This condo is in a great location. It is right on the beach and the view from the balcony is amazing! It is located within walking distance of one of the islands' restaurants and a few of the shops. It is just a short bike ride/car ride away from other shops and restaurants as well. The furniture is a bit dated and the cleanliness of the condo does leave a bit in question. The carpet in the bedrooms were stained and worn, the beds had stained sheets and the kitchen cabinet nobs had a fine layer of greasy film. The condo could use a deep cleaning with some new linen and would then be an overall fantastic place to stay! "

"Fun Week at the Beach
As parents of 3 children ranging in the ages of 13 to 22, we realize that a beach vacation is the best overall vacation to please all of our children. We always enjoy Dauphin Island! The beaches are beautiful and the vacation is relaxing and fun, without the hassle of traffic and tourist traps! It is where we enjoy making family memories! The condo unit itself was very clean and clearly updated fairly recently. It was an awesome week!"

"Vacation Get Away at Dauphin Island
We recently visited Dauphin Island and stayed at The Inn of Dauphin Island. The Condo was very nice. The extra that were included made our stay very convenient. Everything was ready for us when we arrived. I was disappointed that the pool was not as clean as I would have anticipated. Although it was a pretty good walk to the beach, the beach was beautiful. We enjoyed it every day. The property was quiet and peaceful--we enjoyed coffee every morning on the balcony. "

"Good Choice
The place was all one could ask for in comfort and
location and cleanliness. The staff was great.
We had children with us and the DVD player would not work. It seems to be small things like that
are overlooked because it happens often to us. I wish the little things like a DVD player were checked to see if they were in working order. Other than that one small thing, which was not small when we all settled down late to watch a movie and couldn't, but it did not keep us from having a good time.
