Just half a block to the beach, this vintage cottage exudes charm & personality. Separate units provide ample room for two small families to relax in style. You'll be so comfy, it'll be hard to tear yourself away to go to the beach!

LIVING & DINING

Enter the bright and pristine nautical-themed front cottage through an inviting Dutch door. The living room has a large slip-covered sleeper sofa, two side chairs and a flat panel TV. The open concept kitchen has Carrera marble counters, a built-in island with four chairs and a white wood bench for more seating.

The lovely back house atop the garage has an open concept kitchen and living room with open beam ceilings. Original wood floors greet guests into the light and bright living area with couch (folds out to a sleeper), two side chairs, flat screen TV and overhead fan to add to the cool breezes coming through the Dutch door. On extra warm days simply turn on the AC. The kitchen has Carrera marble counter tops and a large island with seating for four.

BED & BATH

Both bedrooms have AC, Queen beds, cottage inspired wainscoting and provide generous mirrored custom closets with built-in drawers.

The master bedroom has a spacious bathroom with newly tiled floors, granite counters and large subway tiled frameless glass walk in shower. The guest bedroom has its own bath just outside the door with a skylight providing bright natural light. This bath also has a white subway tiled frameless glass walk-in shower, white tile floors & granite vanity.

In the back house, the bedroom comfortably accommodates a king sized bed and has plenty of storage. Find additional storage space in a walk in linen closet in the spacious adjacent bathroom. White subway tiled frameless glass walk in shower and granite vanity are awash in natural light from the open beam ceiling with skylight.

OUTDOOR SPACE

The expansive brick front patio has a large table with umbrella, six chairs and two park-style benches for additional seating. The direct line gas grill is ideal for barbecuing family favorites. Outside on the back patio, find the laundry closet with full size stacked front-loading washer & dryer.

The best feature of the back cottage is a terrific deck that generously expands living space with white wood table, umbrella, four chairs, white wood bench & gas grill.

The property has two one-car garages.

THE LOCATION

Swim, surf, boogie board, body surf, skim-board or sun - the beach at 40th Street is perfect for all this and more! Jetties keep the surf manageable and shape the waves to make the beach here family-friendly.

The Peninsula’s only grocery store and dozens of shops & eateries are all a short walk away. Gina’s has pizza & pasta for the entire family, Las Fajitas for Mexican fare, Hook & Anchor serves up terrific fresh fish. Lido Marina Village boasts high end shopping & dining as well as electric boat rentals. Lido Village Books features reading material of every genre including books by local authors. Via Lido Drug across the street can fill prescriptions and has unique gifts and hard to find items. Nearby Bear Flag Fish Co is a local’s favorite. The Lido Theatre, built in 1938, provides an unforgettable experience for movie goers, with black light decor & balcony for viewing big screen features.

Exploring the Peninsula by bike or on foot is easy via the boardwalk. The Newport Pier area is a short stroll from the rental, with dozens of shops and eateries. The Dory Fleet Fish Market has been offering freshly caught fish since 1891, Seaside Donuts cranks out donuts 24/7. Many out-of-towners can’t wait to return to Charlie’s Chili on McFadden Square – a “don’t miss” breakfast spot for many out-of-town visitors. Dory Deli has terrific food all day long - plus unbeatable people watching! Fly ‘n’ Fish and 21 Ocean Front offer more upscale dining.

"Just as perfect as 1-2-3.
From the moment we walked into these two units, we were so impressed. Super clean, beach decor was perfect. We cook alot when we are at the beach, we really appreciated all of the sharp knifes, and the well appointed kitchens. A little issue with the AC unit, but the repair guy came by within 2 hours of calling & fixed everything & then he actually called the next day to confirm that everything was working. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. For the first time in 15 years of renting, we are actually going to book the same exact place for next year. "

We arrived at 3 pm received our keys to find that there was 1 cleaning lady for both units and she was just beginning to clean. We had to call the office because we were left sitting in a car for 2 hours with 2 infants. The house wasn't up to standards. We stayed in this property 3 years ago and it was in excellent condition. I seems very run down and we needed to call the maintenance man to come do repairs as well as the dishwasher was broken and we needed to make another call. The property clearly needs some TLC. The air vents hadn't been changed in years and were just covered in filth."

"Perfect little retreat
This place is super cute and incredibly clean and smartly decorated. Beds were so comfy. The Staff at Burr White was exceptional too. The location to all of L.A., Disneyland and San Diego was great. I, personally wished house was closer to Pier, but then again, it's totally crazy by the pier and it was much quieter at this place. Highly recommend"

"Annual summer trip
When we arrived the house was dirty. It had been cleaned but not very well. Both patios had food on and under the tables. The living room floor and couch obviously hadn't been cleaned at all. When Teresa arrived to inspect, she was rude and abrupt saying "it's the beach". That was her excuse for a poorly cleaned house. $5000 a week should get you a spotless house inside and out, beach or not. A new cleaning crew made the house exceptable. The garages were full of spider webs and eggs. Ten minutes of cleaning would fix this.
The rest of the trip was great. Burr White responded to our needs professionally and promptly: trash bags and kitchen towels. The house is cute and as shown in photos. I won't rent this property again only because of the redundancy of two kitchens and the split level house. "

This house is a great rental for a family of 6. The house was clean and well stocked but still had plenty of storage space for our items. Loved the A/C wall units and loved the no-quarter needed laundry washing machine and dryer. Only frustration was the parking was too small to fit our car - very hard to get in and out, but I don't see how that can change."

"Overall a very good experience - cute house and good neighbors!
The location was nice for not being directly beach-front. Loved the separate house upstairs. Was disappointed in the quality of the sheets (I know this sounds petty, but they were thin, cheap, and worn which made them feel gritty - even though they weren't). We had an issue getting both televisions to work and the internet was slow. Not something we should be doing on vacation anyway, so it wasn't that big of a deal, but might be to others. Not many houses are decorated with a "beachy" theme and this one definitely is which is why we loved it so much. This house also has ample A/C units which was great. We would have been miserable had there been no A/C. We will definitely consider this house when we return next year and would have stayed a week longer this year had it not already been booked."

We loved the location and the bright, airy feel of this beach house. Nicely furnished. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking tools. The oven didn't work, which was an unpleasant surprise. The frig was filthy when we arrived, but everything else was pretty clean. It was great to have the towels and linens there. This unit needs AC, though!!! 90 degrees inside!! super uncomfortable."

"BEACH RENTAL
The location was perfect and the property fantastic, however it was pretty warm inside the rental property. I would recommend adding a fan to the front unit and possibly an airconditioning unit to the guest house (EXTREMELY HOT)."
