St. Croix

St Croix is one of the largest the three main islands that make up the United States Virgin Islands. This island of St. Croix is 28 miles long and 7 miles wide which is three times the size of nearby St. Thomas. The landscape is outstandingly diverse. There is a huge rainforest in the western mountains and hills in the inside of the island. Though, the eastern part of the island is desert vegetation and rocky red cliffs. The terrain is not the only reason one should visit St. Croix, but it's the amazing weather. There are year-round temperatures that average about 80 degrees during the day and 70 degrees at night. There are also constant light breezes to keep the island cool and pleasant for all of its visitors cool while staying in their beach front villas.
St. Croix is surrounded by beaches of many different shapes and sizes. Some are long white sand stretches and others are small patches shaded by low trees and towering coconut palms. In addition, some of the beaches have sandy bottoms which are perfect for swimming, while others are blanketed with beautiful corals and rocks which is ideal for snorkeling. All the beaches in St. Croix are, by law, open to the public. While all the beaches are breathtaking, a popular beach just north of the town of Frederiksted, has a combination of great swimming and snorkeling sites. In addition, Cane Bay is another beach that has an enjoyable swimming area on the north shore, with the famous Cane Bay drop-off just 100 yards offshore.
Beyond lying on the beach and relaxing, St. Croix has many other attractions to offer. One of the favorites is Buck Island , which is an underwater National Park that boasts 704 acres of clear water and healthy coral reefs. Once you get to the breathtaking park you can enjoy a relaxing swim in the clear waters, snorkeling in the crystal clear waters, and scuba diving through the unbelievable reef. One can also hike over the island enjoying native flowers while getting an out of this world view of the reef and sea below. In addition to the beaches, there are also the towns of Christiansted and Fredriksted that are some of the most popular spots in St. Croix.
