The idea of a website that specialized in listing beach house vacation rentals was conceived in 1999 when the company’s original founders completed the renovation of an old beach house. Marketing the property as a vacation rental was a good idea. At the time however, vacation rental websites were few and no sites focused on listings of beach houses for rent. After acquiring the URL, BeachHouse.com in 2000, and with a handful of beach house rental listings in California, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and the Caribbean the site went live in 2001. Today, the site supports a virtual global community with millions of regular users, over 6000 beach vacation rental listings and continues to expand in the US and around the world. The website consistently provides cost effective ways for owners and managers to list and highly relevant rental information for vacationers and travelers worldwide to find their special beach getaway.
Many (vacation rental everything) websites expose its users to other types of rental properties, including images by the thousands of bed and breakfast hotels, lodges and ski chalets. Although providing many choices to vacationers may be beneficial, the variety can dilute a specific market focus and minimize exposure for beach rental properties. Interestingly enough, sites that have impressive not-so-friendly to hotels marketing campaigns also include listings for rooms or suites of major hotels chains. Over the years we have kept our brand focused on Beach Vacation Rentals. This strategy continues to bring long-term value to our customers.
The founders have many years of experience in managing vacation rentals including beach houses and retreats. Although the site is their primary focus, they continue to manage their own vacation rental property. This continues to give them invaluable perspectives from the owners and managers’ point of view as well as a greater understanding of vacationers expectations.
