We are located at the end of Okaloosa Island a small barrier Island between Fort Walton Beach and Destin. Cancellations to any reservation results in forfeiture of $200.00 advance rent deposit. Changes to the booking have to be made Thirty (30) days prior to arrival for Short Term reservations. Sixty (60) days prior to arrival for Monthly reservations. Once final balance is paid there are NO REFUNDS due to cancellation. If you have purchased Travel Insurance with CSA you would need to contact them with questions regarding claims.1-866-4018

Full payment is due fourteen (14) prior to arrival for SHORT TERM reservations. Please make payments in the form of traveler's checks, bank money orders, cashier’s checks, or a personal check if not we will bill your credit card on file for these charges.

"Awesome condo with a great view
We had a wonderful time during our stay. Very nice room with great access to the beach and the beachside pool which is unheated so it was a bit chilly during our time there to use it. None the less it’s right outside the patio door about 20yards away. There are too many fine restaurants to mention here and the food was wonderful everywhere we went. The beach is clean and right there out the door of the back patio about 40 yards away. We enjoyed hearing the sound of the waves and the wind and don’t forget the sunrise and sunsets either! Condo was clean and comfortable as was the king sized bed. All in all a wonderful stay!"

"Condo 418
I’ll just start off by saying you can’t beat the location of the condo in the complex. It’s on the ground floor right between the pool and beach access plus you can see the beautiful gulf right from the patio. The one down fall of this condo however, is the parking. All the spots in front of the condo are all handicapped. So, the only option for parking is parallel parking against a fenced wall, or parking out in the parking lot which makes it difficult when bringing luggage, groceries, etc... in and out. The complex itself is definitely older, and this particular condo needs some updating. However, it was perfect for our family of 4 with plenty of space. The master bedroom/bathroom was great, and the pillows were amazing. However, the mattress could use an update. Overall a good place to stay and is out of the main hustle and bustle of the busy traffic as it is the last complex on Santa Rosa Blvd. We would definitely stay here again. "

"It was as expected
It was as expected. Not a luxury place but was what we expected. If you are warned that their is a possibility for construction/repairs on your building then I recommend not booking. The men were literally right outside our door all day/everyday. Drilling/hammering or doing whatever, plus a big lift parked right there. We couldn’t use the patio area, everything outside was dusty and they workers were there. "

"Unit #418 El Matador
Great Unit Location.. but that's where it ends! The unit is in dire need of a total renovation (paint, woodwork, doors and overall decor need to be udated). The bathrooms are small and very dated with old short commodes, old tubs and very little sink area. The master bedroom needs to have the carpet replaced badly! The kitchen is workable, but it would be a lot nicer if it was opened up. A smaller dining room table would be nice, and new artwork is definitely needed... the metal wall hanging and tabletop figures need to go.
The worst part of my stay was that I had work being done outside the condo for the full 2 months I was here and could not use my patio and had to leave the premises most days because of the construction noise, which was unbearable!"

"Little slice of heaven
Our stay at El Matador was wonderful! The unit is older and could use some updates but the location makes up for any flaws it might have. Direct ocean view and probably 15 steps to the small boardwalk that leads you to a very private beach and the pool is the same amount of steps in the other direction. The town itself is an older beach town with wonderful restaurants and a slower pace. Destin is a ten minute drive if you want a busier beach town. We have already booked our trip for next year"

"Great location
We love El Mat as my family calls it. We love the location, how close it is to the beach and water, fewer amount of people on the beach and at the end of the row of condos so plenty of open beach to explore. I really wish washer and dryer units were in each condo. This would be the absolute perfect place if so! The next best thing is to have a laundry facility for FREE on the property rather than charge $1.50 a load per washer and dryer... most other condos have a washer and dryer in the unit. With a family of 5, laundry piles up quickly. "

Great location! Unfortunately very dated and original master bath. Also, when pulling out the hideaway bed in the living room, there were several dead cockroaches under the couch. Needless to say we cut our vacation short. We brought it to the attention of the managing realtor and have not heard back. Will not be renting 418 again."

"Prime location but needs some TLC
Let me start by saying my husband has been coming to the El Matador for about 30 years now and it’s like home. We absolutely love it. This particular unit had several, albeit dead, roaches laying around when we arrived. And the carpet had clearly not been vacuumed in the master bedroom. No, we did not call the rental company as it was late at night when we arrived and we just wanted to go to sleep. The bathrooms have a few soft spots in the walls and the tub in the master bath was dingy and needs to be replaced badly. The kitchen is lacking in supplies. There were no steak knives at all and none of the baking dishes had a matching lid. This location is wonderful and we had a great week but the unit needs a little TLC. "

"Great Location but Cockroaches in the Condo
The location of the condo was great. There is a serious cockroach problem though. We ended up leaving early because of the cockroaches. It is totally unacceptable to me.Hopefully they get it under control. Some of the other items in the condo were a little "tired" and needed updating but nothing you can't work with. "

"Great Location
Ground floor unit is very easy to get to the gazebo and beach. With the grassy area just outside your door it extends your patio especially with children. We have stayed in this unit several times and enjoy the location, but the unit needs updates."

Everything was great we love staying at these condos. My only issue was there were a lot of dishes, some pots, glasses etc. that were put away dirty and needed to be washed prior to using them. Other than that the condo was clean and sufficiently appointed. "

Our family enjoyed being so close to the beach and the pool. Just out the door and a few steps to the beach. The condo was nice; however, would have liked a more spacious master bathroom. The shower doors in both bathrooms were off the track and hard to manage and some of the slats were off the blinds on the sliding door. We still had a great time and would stay in this condo again because of the great location. Condo was clean and AC worked well. "

As someone who's been coming to El Matador since he was a kid, the place still doesn't disappoint!! And most importantly, the family loves it too!!

The only complaint we had was with the lack of cleanliness with the unit, particularly the floors. We didn't mind the tile, and given it's a first floor unit, that's expected. But additional care needs to be given to tile floors. They were quite dirty and the amount of old food, etc. under the furniture (especially the couch) was quite disgusting!! Also, the blinds, particularly in the family room, were in serious dis-repair and need replacing!"

Love being so close to the beach. Interior had some deferred maintenance and needed some updating. Blinds need to be replaced. One of my favorite things is to open the blinds in the morning and look at the oceans, but these were a piece of junk. TVs were very nice. Kitchen utensils stocked well. I would rent this unit again, mainly for the view."

"A BLAST!
We had a great time! We had to sit inside a lot due to the colder weather. But we still had so much fun though. I was worried about cleaning the sand up everywhere because of it being on the ground floor we would just drag the sand right in with us. But we loved how close it was to the beach so that made up for the sand! SO MUCH FUN! "
