"Beautiful Beach Condo
The unit was very clean on the surface and decorated nicely. However, we found candy wrappers in the couch bed and the sheets to the couch bed had crumbs on it when we arrived. Also, in the bedrooms there were items left in the drawers from previous occupants. The garbage disposal also did not work at all in the kitchen sink. Other than that the water and beach was beautiful and the condo was nice. "

We enjoyed our stay at the Islander. The unit was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable. The view from the 6th floor was absolutely stunning! We had a problem with the AC upon arrival and the maintenance staff was very quick to come fix it. Our kids loved the pool! We would definitely recommend the Islander and Brooks and Shorey! "

"Nice Place
We enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean. Except for the glass table. It was pretty nasty so we picked up the glass and cleaned all the crumbs and sticky whatever up and put the glass back down. The condo lacked cookie sheet to bake biscuits and large bowl(used a pot) We were in 3 different Condo's. As for everything else in the Condo itself I have no complaints. The Condo, sheets and towels were clean. "

"Needs an update and a deep clean!
Enjoyed our stay however we will not be coming back to this condo. Our first night was spent cleaning the whole condo. Found a half ate brownie, a bottle of water and 2 empty cans of tobacco under the beds. The whole condo looked and felt like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The furniture is in terrible shape. The carpets are also in need of being replaced in the bedrooms. The only thing kind of nice was the updated floors in the main area. However, my family just goes with the flow and does what has to be done so we didn’t make it a big deal or let it ruin our trip. "

"Condo was a disappointment
The condo had a dirty feel. The room with the twin beds had thick dust on the windowsil and fan. The furniture was very outdated and uncomfortable. The patio furniture was dirty and very poor furniture. I was so excited to be going on vacation somewhere different and immediately was very disappointed ad soon as I walked into the condo. I think I paid way too much for this condo."

"Great location in a great complex!
We’ve stayed at the Islander almost every year since 2015 always through Brooks and Shorey... This was the first time in this unit.... The pros: great updated appliances... fridge was so big with ice maker and water and pull out freezer. Microwave and dishwasher updated and new. Washer and dryer are almost commercial grade and worked like a charm! It was stocked with soooo many towels.... Never had a unit with that many before... so nice! Cons: unit is in desperate need for new furniture and decor... It’s old, feels dirty and all the wall art is so faded. Also.., I do NOT cook on vacation... but I do make breakfast casseroles and I was shocked there was not a 9x13 Pyrex. Also no tongs to flip bacon.... And only 2 normal coffee mugs. There’s lots of coffee cups... but they’re tiny and look more like espresso cups than coffee cups. Also... not one Tupperware or plastic dish for leftovers. Literally nothing to store food in after the fact.....Random. There’s carpet in the bedrooms and it isn’t as bad as it looks in the pics but should prob be replaced too. Master shower is new and had no issues in the bathroom whatsoever. Overall I’d stay in the unit again.... But owners really should consider updating the living room furniture and also upgrading the patio furniture too...."

"Spring Breakers from Illinois
We love Okaloosa Island and this is our second time at the Islander Resort. Our unit was roomy and clean. The view is great and the beach service is a huge perk. Can't beat the view, the beach, the sunsets. Worth the drive for sure. "

Guess when you rent at the end of the season you expect things to be a little worn and tired, the living room chairs needed to be cleaned, carpets in the bedroom need replacing, very dirty. black mold in the master shower. Kitchen was clean. Really enjoyed the big balcony. We made the best of it and enjoyed our stay."

"Roomy with a View
We have stayed here before, so we are returning guests. We love the overall well-kept property- the pool is clean and great for kids, and beach access is close. I do wish we could reserve chairs without having to go down daily, but it was nice that they come with the condo.The condo itself was a roomy 3 bedroom with plenty of space. The view is beautiful! The tile floors and kitchen were mostly updated. Beds & baths were clean. The biggest disappointment was the carpet. It was completely matted and stained from traffic. I hope this is an immediate future update, as some may be turned away from coming again if they had not seen other condos. The other free attractions were a bonus- ride the Cattywampus dolphin/snorkeling cruise. My family loved it. "

"Fun and Relaxing Stay at Fort Walton Beach
We had a great time and the Condo was perfect except for the carpet in the bedrooms. Lots of room to move around and everything we needed to relax. The Kitchen was fully equipped with what we needed and so clean. I would definitely stay there again. "

Begging the owners to replace the bedroom carpets. They are old, stained, crusty, and loose. The living room furniture is also stained and worn out. Appliances and bathrooms and tiled flooring look updated. View is gorgeous. Plenty of towels. Was as clean as possible with exception of above. Could use a large fry pan and more utensils also. Maintenance was prompt on the small issue on fridge we had. "

We stayed in 6011. The unit was very clean. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of towels and little travel size items to get you started. The maintenance crew was very prompt when the lamp was broke and the toilet was running all the time.
When you walk in the view is breathtaking. "

We had a great time and the room was nice. We called about an issue with one of the televisions not working, and Brooks &Shorey had someone on the way within minutes. Master bathroom had mold on the ceiling, but other than that it was a good experience."

"Would Stay Again
This was our first stay in Fort Walton and I really loved the location. It was quiet and not too busy. Being on the island meant we did have to drive to Destin for attractions, but we appreciated not being in the busy areas.
The only problems we had were the bed was very uncomfortable. Also, the laundry room was in our bedroom which is very difficult when putting kids to sleep. The Master looked amazing, but more care needs to be given to the other bedrooms. Overall we loved our stay and would definitely stay again."

We had a good experience. The condo was nice and spacious, it was clean with one exception. Carpeting in bedrooms is old, stained and looks very dirty. The carpet really should be replaced. With that change, , the condo would be fabulous. We loved the large balcony and spent a lot of mornings and evenings out there."

Well kept, clean Super view of beach. Super 60 in TV. Modern fridge with wirking ice maker. I would suggest owner replace master bed room mattress. Also dissapointed with one of 3 bathrooms being quarter bath opening on to hall. Also would suggest replacing very uncomfortable sofa. Otherwise great unit. We had four adults and one teen. "

"Gulffront Vacation Paradise
We spent an amazing 2 weeks at this wonderful condo! The pictures don't do it justice! The wood look tile is beautiful and stayed clean looking despite having an 18 month old staying there. The kitchen and laundry appliances were up to date and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed (even a Keurig!). The balcony view is spectacular and we enjoyed the gulf breeze every day and evening.
The staff at Brooks and Shorey were very helpful when booking the condo. I simply called with my desired dates and was promptly emailed links to all the available condos, including pictures, details, and reviews. They sent explicit instructions for check in/out, etc. The 2 beach chairs and umbrella daily were a nice perk and the young man who set them up was very polite and efficient. My son-in-law enjoyed a round of golf as well. I would definitely rent through them again and would love to book this exact condo. "

"Adequate but disappointing
The updated tile in this condo is nice, but the old, dirty carpet desperately needs to be replaced. There was mold on the ceiling in 2 rooms and the showers, and a hole in the ceiling above one of the showers. A maintenance man's advice on the mold? He told us to crank up the air conditioner to see if it helped alleviate the smell. Disappointed in this condo. Location is great, not so crowded on this beach area. "

Had a great time on vacation with family and friends. The unit was clean and plenty of room. The view was the best. Only complaint was the algae bloom. The "green slime" was awful, not to mention the jellyfish. We really couldn't go in the water but one day. I'm a little spoiled from always vacationing in SW Florida beaches. I like a more laid back atmosphere."

We loved the location of this rental. The view of the ocean couldn't be better. Condo was spacious. Bathroom by the pool smelled of urine (We only used once due to this). At check-in the employee was rude, but everyone else I dealt with was friendly. This was not a big problem since I didn't have to contact them again. The condo itself was very clean. I would recommend."

"Awesome Vacation
Our condo was extremely nice, clean. The Patio was roomy for all of us to be on the balcony. Our TV Cable was off and the owner himself came out to try and correct the issue, After a few days, we were able to access the TV channels. I would recommend this to all of my friends as a terrific place to stay. Everyone was extrememly nice."

"5 Friends On a Getaway
The room was great! We had an awesome time. The pool needing cleaning more and the outside restroom was never cleaned the whole time we were there (5days). The restroom was even out of toilet paper for our last two days and we had to run in the men's and get it - not happy. I do recommend this unit for anyone looking for a place to stay."

"Nice condo
We always enjoy our stay at the Islander. Condo 6011 was clean and a nice stay. My only complaint about the complex is: when walking from the bbq pit area to the parking lot, there's some valves and piping sticking out of the side of the building at about 5 foot off the ground. this is dangerous and a huge safety hazard. my son was luckily walking and not running and hit his head on the valves. he hit hard enough hat he was knocked to the ground and had about a 1 inch cut on his head. not enough for stiches but he was in pain and dizzy. It was not during office hours on Sunday. So I didn't go into the office to report it. Again the condo was great but the complex needs to address this safety hazard, especially when it is at head level."

"Amazing location!

The property had a vacation feel to it and was open and spacious. Closet space was enormous. It would have been nice to have access to washer/dryer without going through a bedroom (only a minor inconvenience). Great location. Well stocked with towels and washcloths. We would have preferred clearer check out procedures. Overall, excellent experience and we would definitely use property again. "

"Nice place
Stayed during 4 th of July week. We had 5 adults and two younger teenagers. The condo was very clean and spacious and had everything we needed. The only issue was the condo is on the 6th floor and the elevators run very slow. Also where the condo is located on the island there was not much for the kids to do other than pool and beach. The board walk is not far in driving distance but wouldn't want to walk there. Seems to be alot more things to do for kids in the destin area such as arcades and mini golf and these things are located close to condos. The traffic there is alot worse though. But for adults this condo is very nice and for younger children who you wouldn't let wonder off anyways."

"Islander Beach Resort
We vacationed at the Islander Beach resort for 5 nights (2 units). Vacation was great! Lady at check it was extremely helpful (and patient) when I called a couple of times to see if rooms were ready prior to check in. Both units were very clean and setup was pefect for our family stay. The only complaint I heard was that the wifi in room 6012 was more like dial up. The wifi in our rm 6011 was strong. Pool was always clean and roomy for our large group, always pool chairs available too. Beach was clean and the guys setting up chairs were extremely helpful, they came around a few times asking if everything was ok and if we needed something. The adults in our group would have liked to of seen a beach volley ball net up but I realize not all vacationers would be interested in this. Overall, the Islander Beach Resort was the perfect stay for us. I've already recommended it to others!!!!"

my family just stayed at the Islander the weekend of 5/20/11 and found everything to be as we would like if we were living at home. The only complaints I would give is the ice maker in our condo never made enough ice (don't know if the freezer just wasn't cold enough) and the elevator was slower than any other I've ever been on but everything else was so nice. We loved the decor and the view was exceptional. Loved hearing the ocean at night in our master suite."

shorey took and addtional $1900 out of our checking account--on monday we had checks bouncing everywhere. we made a call to brooks and shorey. they blamed us for it---the cashier check was in the mail and on the desk on monday the 7th. --in texas the mail doesn't deliver on sunday--because they choose to pulled the money on sunday it spoiled the vacation for the williams family---we did not tell the josey party what happen.we had to go to the bank and move money out of our saving to catch the checks that were bouncing. mr shorey had the rude answer that it was our fault because we didn;t call that the check would be one day late of the 30 day pre-pay.we didn't tell the josey because we did not want to spoil their vacation.--for the williams family i think this will be the last of our vacations with brooks and shorey.there was a different class of people staying at the condo this year--on thursday --some one used the bathroon in the pool. the people staying in the condo next to us piple their trash outside the door until there was nothing but a trail to the door.i think my biggest gripe is that brooks and shorey were really quick to take the money out of our account--but took their time putting it back. The condo was much nicer than we expected. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen contained everything we needed and more. Being so near to the beach and pool were added conveniences, making our stay a relaxing escape. "

"Memorial Day Weekend Stay
We have been coming to the Islander for probably 10 years now and we absolutely love it. It is very family friendly and the location is great. Our recent stay however we found a few discrepancies. We stayed on the 6th floor and apparently someone had vomited on there way out of the elevator. This was there the second day we arrived, and stayed until we left. We had to pass it every time we went to the elevator. The second thing is that the girls bathroom at the pool area was not in clean condition at all. My wife and daughter complained of this for the first few days.
Overall we love the Islander and will definitely return. These were definitely isolated incidents, but you should at least be aware.

The actual property that I stayed in was great, but the people from Brooks and Shorey Resorts, Inc. were not professional. We booked our stay in Feb. 2008 at the Azure for June, and the day we arrived they decided to clean the carpet. We have a baby that was only crawling and they expected us to stay there when the carpet wouldn't be dry until the next day. No apologies, no discount, and definitely no compasion; just a shrug of the shoulders. The Islander was a great place to stay, just not we had booked. I would never use Brooks and Shorey again. They have no problem taking your payment in full when you book,let you drive 12 hours with two small children, and just say oops after their mistake and a long drive. This was Brooks and Shorey's problem not mine. You can use other property management places to stay at the Islander so make a wise choice and do so."
