"THe unit was not a top quality unit
Main shower hardware was cheap and felt like the handle would break off at anytime.
TV had only the 3 basic channels and resolution was 720p
Pots and pans looked like they had been purchased at the Goodwill.
Golf cart was extremely slow."

"Private, quiet, and family friendly
This was our first time staying at Palm Island Resort and our stay exceeded expectations! The villa itself is beautiful, welcoming, updated, and well maintained. We very comfortably stayed as a family of four in the unit. The beach was easily accessible and it was helpful that the path was clearly marked. We appreciated that the resort has a very family friendly atmosphere. There are things to do on the island aside from the beach including a playground, a pool, a gift shop, an ice cream bar, and a restaurant with a kid friendly menu. The entire staff, from guest services to the ferry deck hands, were polite, friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We would definitely recommend Palm Island Resort to anyone looking for a private, quiet, and relaxing vacation stay! "

"Great family vacation
We had an amazing 5 days at the resort. Loved the proximity to a nearly private beach, the pools and hot tubs, the quiet secluded nature. And huge shout out to Art at the tennis center, what a great guy. Got all of my kids out on the court for hours of fun. "

"Vacay before baby
The unit unfortunately not our first choice our unit was taken back by the owners at the last minute was relatively updated and nicely Decorated. I do have one complaint if anything the master bed it was like sleeping on cement. I spoke with the manager and was extremely surprised to hear nobody had complained about this before. I did see in the closet that there was an old dirty mattress support so I’m assuming either the owners or other people knew about this hard mattress. We ended up having to buy our own mattress support which cost us $100."

"Don’t go if there’s a wedding!!
We stayed below wedding guests and were kept up until 3 am each night with vulgar language, pounding around above us, crashing a golf cart underneath the building, flipping my mother the middle finger, and waking up my 3 and 1 year olds that were scared. The only restaurant was unable to accommodate other guests due to wedding. Upon check in I had to stand and wait for 30 minutes outside with my 3 and 1 year old while trying to unload my car in 90 degree weather while 3 employees were standing talking. Property is an allergy nightmare with dust. All the golf cart paths need additional shell put down. Doesn’t make for fun golf cart rides and makes for very dirty kids and floors in the apartment. The pool was nice but playgrounds could use some updating. As far as safety- it took the Sherrif over 45 min to arrive to respond to the golf cart crashing under the facility. So don’t count on them to assist you quickly if needed. As I checked out I told the woman what happened and she just shook her head and stared at me. There was no apology at all. Nothing. That’s how we left feeling. Our first family vacation was just nothing. A lot of work to take kids there and pack everything you need and to not get sleep it was literally a nightmare. "

"Calming and Beautiful
Villa was better than expected. Seeing the Bay from the window gave the calm you need during these challenges time. Staff was friendly and funny at times. Riding in golf carts allow everyone to speak to you wish created a friendly environment. Great place for all family or friends gathering. "

"Glad we brought Pots and Pans
We have been coming to this resort for over 10 years and this was a first for us in this unit and we were happy with almost everything. We generally prepare our meals in the unit, it was disappointing to find that all of the utility knives were rusty, the cooking utensils were plastic and had apparently been used on the grill. There was no frying pan (breakfast) so that whole pot situation needs to be updated, and a little more glassware would also be nice. "

"Escape to Paradise
Miles of gorgeous white sandy beach, spectacular sunsets provide a peaceful and totally relaxing escape. Villas have views of the gulf, intercoastal waterway and scenic old Florida. I have been coming since it opened in the early eighties. Now we are sharing this experience with the next generation. Grandchildren love this special place as much as we all do!!!!"

"Not as expected
Beautiful property, amazing beach, well organized. Upon arrival, notified maintenance regarding cupboard pulling away from frame. Not repaired during our stay. Mismached glasses and flatware. Not enough glasses, required to wash each time. 3 bowls for 4 guests!
Original reservation was for direct gulf front..resort changed reservation to pool view. Master bedroom king bed was so delapidated foam pieces had been placed in the lower areas to make the surface level.
Certainly not what was expected for over 400.00 per night!"

"OUR WONDERFUL REFRESHING VACATION
OUR VACATION WAS ALL WE HOPED IT WOULD BE! OUR ROOMS WERE CLEAN AND BEAUTIFULLY FURNISHED. THE LOCATION COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. BEING ON THE FIRST LEVEL, WE COULD ACCESS THE BEACH FROM THE BACK OF OUR APT WHICH MADE IT EASIER FOR US. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!"

"Red tide surprise
Although we were disappointed in our overall stay because we weren’t able to spend time at the beach this unit was in a great location just steps from the pool. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed. We booked two units in this building. We weren’t told about the red tide or that the other unit had been switched to another building That’s why my review is not five stars. "

"2018 Girls Beach Time
Palm Island Resort is always a pleasure to stay. We have been coming there for the past 20 years, "yes the same group of girls!" and without a doubt the units are clean and perfect view of the beach.
Unfortunately this year we experienced the red tide for the first time and didn't get to stay on the beach. But at the pool we had a great time and have booked for next year."

We had a very relaxing time on Palm Island. Played tennis, walked on the beach, went shelling, took a few naps by the pool. Also had many great lunch and dinners at Rum bay. We will definitely be back. Great time!

We love Palm Island Resort. Workers are friendly and happy. Our unit this year needs more dishes and silverware. Furnishings were nice comfy beds. But if you're doing much cooking you need more silverware and hot pads to name a couple. But we'll look forward to our next time here. It's a wonderful vacation."

"Post-Irma Vacay
We loved our time at Palm Island Resort. The staff were friendly and the food at Rum Bay was great. Our accommodations were spotless.
The dock where we tied our boat at could use some refurbishing but we were able to get he boat tied up and cleaned every day.
The beach was clean and the sunsets were gorgeous.
We have already recommended PIR to friends and hopento go back in the future."

"First-Timers
Overall our stay was just OK. Upon arrival, we were not told the hours of Coconuts to rent our golf cart. So by the time we were done unpacking groceries, etc. It was closed. We got locked out of our villa that same evening because we were not told the deadbolt lock couldn't be unlocked by the key. The cable TV in one room didn't work and our master bedroom bed almost broke because the support legs on the middle were not properly screwed in and set up so we took care of that at 2am. We also had to leave early from the resort to catch a flight. I paid $200 to get the car ferry at 5:30am, however, I was not told the gates would be locked. We had to find the "guard" and wake him up to let us out. For being such a private island with not too many guests, I was disappointed with the lack of customer service. The beauty of the island and the company (our family who has visited for many years) was what made the trip "OK"."

"Great setting in a pleasant Villa
Our Cruising Club came to Palm Island Resort in our boats for a two night visit. Everything worked out well, including the rooms, the restaurant, and the get together in the Club House on our last night. The only thing that could be improved is the service to and from the dock area for boaters. it would be nice to have a bellman on hand as the boats docked, to help tie them up and to handle the luggage trip to the check in area.
A fabulous beach with an amazing number of shark's teeth to find in the sand. Maybe the best in Florida?"

"perfect beach getaway, especially for wedding/honeymoon
Hard to believe what a great getaway Palm Island is. You truly feel like you have arrived in the Caribbean, yet it is so easy to get to. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have a perfect vacation, from the second you park your car and get on island time, to the sad time you have you to leave.
Our unit (and we have seen half a dozen others) was immaculate, had a great view, and was so close to the best beach in Florida. Wouldn't change a thing about our getaway. "

We have been coming here for years. Daily walks on the beach and a choice to either cook or dine out. Quite most of the time. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and go out of their way to see that you enjoy your stay. Some remodeling going on but that is expected from time to time."

"Palm Island Switcharoo
Not a good experience this time. This was my 10th visit. My beach villa wasn't ready at check-in, and although I did arrive early and it was known I had been waiting. They did substitute another beach villa at the North end of the resort. It seemed as though it was the budget area with 30 kids running amuck and the (parents)were less than courteous. I think they stayed in the room above us. 2 Grills were inside the pool area with several people constantly waiting in line for use. Sun-up to midnight was total chaos all weekend. We love the beach and typically the atmosphere, but hated where they put us. Oh and it was a "superior" upgrade. Worst part is we had another 1st time couple with us. They were not impressed. Not sure I like where our favorite hideaway is headed."

Everything was fine, but if you stay in a basement/groundfloor Appartment you have a lot of noises from the upper floor and the restaurant (service and quality)is not the same high level of the property and the management!"
