"Responsive! And that's what you want because things happen.
AC broke. Well, we arrived and it never got cool so I'm going to say it never worked. We slept one sweaty night and realized we could text someone about the issue. They got right back to us and we had new AC units by that afternoon in the bedroom and also in the living room. The rest of the stay was very comfortable and I was so grateful someone got back to us and resolved the issue. This is what I'll remember. But also, everything was nice, clean, and comfortable :) "

The property was so beautiful and well maintained. The unit was a bit on the older side but very clean and well maintained. We loved that it was on the first floor, no having to log everything up a. Inch of stairs but we still had a view of the ocean from our lanai. We could not ever get the moving area a/c to flow cold air, but the bedroom one worked really well and that’s really all that mattered to us. "

Had an amazing time at Kona Makai 2-102. Place was clean and they were able to let us check in a little early.Nice property ,not far from town. Nice having extras,cooler, boogie board.Only wish they had 2 beach chairs instead of just 1, but would stay here again!"

"Amazing location at a good cost!
We rented the one bedroom apartment for a full week and had an amazing time! It had everything we needed, even if a few features felt outdated, all were full functional. The sofa was what I like to call a couch hole, something so good you NEVER want to leave. We used the free books, the pool and hot tub, and walked down to the rocky coast several times. The bed was great, place was clean, and I wish we'd grilled out, but we aren't cooks lol.
The staff was amazing. Quick responses to questions, and maintenance came same day for one weird noise we were hearing (turns out was a different unit lol!) And got it all sorted quickly.
Would go back in a heartbeat."

"Nice Place
The condo is average. Price was ok. People are friendly around the pool and lounge area. The only odd thing I thought was the amount of consumables. I didn’t plan on going on vacation and having to buy toilet paper, garbage bags, aluminum foil, spices, etc...Talking with other owners all that is provided. Pots and pans are very outdated as-well. I’m not really complaining just saying little things like that matter to a person who’s on vacation not running errands for basic household necessities."

"Kona Makai Gecko Paradise
A nice updated unit, ground floor amid beautiful, mature landscaping. Geckos on the lanai provided entertainment! Only glitch was the dishwasher door not closing properly and an under sink water alarm that woke everyone up at 5am on our last day. Kona Makai is an aging property - this unit is the exception. "

"Always a nice stay at the Kona Makai
Great stay as usual. Right on the ocean front so you'll enjoy sunsets most every night. Quiet and comfortable and close to town. From the driveway to the front edge of town is one mile and the another .25 miles to the farmers market. Add another .25 and you are at the sea wall for more shops and dinning places.
The Kona Makai grounds are also in fantastic shape but the exercise rooms could use updated equipment. Our unit was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Only steps from the waters edge but it too could use a little TLC."

"A comfy and lovely stay!
We loved staying at this condo in the Kona-Makai complex! Airy, comfortably furnished, and with a fully fitted out kitchen with dishes, cookware, spices and more. We loved waking up in the mornings to the songs of beautiful birds, fixing delicious protein shakes (blender provided) with fresh farm stand mango, apple bananas and coconut milk. Then, going outside on the lanai to enjoy the ocean view, surrounded by gorgeous tropical plants and flowers, sipping a cup of the locally purchased and freshly roasted Kona coffee (prepared in the provided French Press pot). For dinner you could find us cooking up some delicious Ona, Mahi Mahi or shrimp on the open grills near the ocean, swimming in the refreshing salt-water pool, and watching gorgeous sunsets, followed by stargazing. Magical. Snorkeling and other beach gear are provided, which we made good use of at local beach parks, some within walking distance. Close to town, great restaurants and “The Green Flash” coffee house, there was much fun to be had in open air bars with live music and delicious seafood! The condo was very clean, the bed was so comfortable, the grounds impeccably maintained, the BBQ, outdoor tables and chairs clean and easy to access. I highly recommend you stay here! "

"Quarantine in Paradise
This was our most unusual trip to the Big Island for the two decades we have visited. The first four days were idyllic, then the Island was shut down as a covid-19 response. This condo and condo complex proved the best place to be quarantined. The condo was wonderful, the complex was beautifully maintained and the residents were very friendly. We had everything we needed and felt quite at home there. The Knutson folks were very accommodating and helpful as well. "

"Not happy with customer service from property management.
A great location. The unit condition was not up to snuff. Lanai glass door off the track, so difficult to lock. Toilet tank dripped constantly. Maintenance was scheduled to fix oven door with appointment on the day we departed. "

"Trip to the other side
Our start was short as we were celebrating our anniversary and just live on the otherside of the Big Island. We have stayed at this complex before and love the location. This unit was a short 1 minute walk to the water. Great place to start a morning with a cup of coffee. The complex sits just outside of the business of Kona, so it was quite. You can hear the ocean. It was nice."

"Lovely condo....perfect location
My husband and I spent a relaxing week in this comfortable condo. We were surprised at how quiet it was considering it is a ground floor unit. The kitchen was equipped with all the necessary essentials for our cooking needs.... plenty of utensils, dishes, cookware even some oils and spices. The washer and dryer was a plus. We didn’t expect to find the boogie boards and ice chests and were so glad they were provided. The only negatives to this condo was the fact the bed and pillows weren’t very comfortable. Very hard. We ended up sleeping on the huge sectional couch most of nights we were there. The TV wasn’t very user friendly also. The pool and BBQ area was great. We spent a lot of time with a cocktail sitting in the lounge chairs watching the sunset right on the shoreline. The grounds and landscaping was immaculate- just gorgeous. We definitely will stay at Kona Makai again in the future?"

"Great location at a reasonable cost
Very comfortable and clean apartment with everything we could need during our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept really well. Pool area was lovely and we also enjoyed the table tennis. Well maintained gardens were delightful to look out to from our lanai."

"Good lodging
Knutson and Associates were good to work with. They were communicative and accommodating. The condo is okay, but could use updates. The bedroom blinds should be replaced and there's an odor in the place that's not pleasant. I wonder if they shouldn't remove the carpet and use tile instead."

The condo was clean and the condition of the condo was okay. The air conditioner was broken and the maintenance department never returned my calls about it. Blake did call me and apologized for them not calling for 2 weeks. He also sent over someone to replace the light bulbs that were burned out. "

The property is good, however we found the dishes and dirty cutlery. In addition to this we were informed that the place was for 4 people when we made the reservation, but it does not support more than two, as there is no sofa bed and no reservation collision. There was a collision in the closet in very bad condition, which can not be considered. Overall, I found the value expensive for 2 people."

"Great location but tired unit
Accommodation was in a great location but upon arrival carpets were very dirty missing bedding for the extra bed for my daughter needed to contact the management a couple of times and after initially denying the carpet was dirty sent over carpet cleaners and bedding etc. Everything was a bit worn and tired definitely could take the money we spent over 10 days and used it to upgrade and paint"

"Enjoyable rental unit
The rental unit was nicely decorated. When we first arrived, the wifi was not working. It was resolved within 1 day, which was nice. It was a nice base for us to explore Kona. Be aware there is no soap/shampoo, and no bathmat. The bed was comfortable and AC much appreciated. We did not cook, so cannot comment on that, but looks well provisioned. Washer/dryer also handy. The communal areas were well maintained, with a nice pool and hot tub. We were less pleased with property management company. They were contacted via phone several times about a lost item (that I left there, not that was stolen) and they never called me back to let me know of status."

"Beautiful Kona
Our rental was perfect for our small group. The condo was nicely decorated, furniture was comfortable, kitchen was well equipped. There were even coolers and ice packs which we used to take food with us as we traveled around the island. The kids liked using the boogie boards that were also provided. The only issue we had was the air conditioner being on a timer so you had to keep getting up at night to turn it back on."

"Great Oceanside Condo
We were very pleased with our stay at KM 2-102. The condo was clean, well kept, and with a gorgeous view! The condo had everything we needed, towels, beach towels, boogie boards, noodles, an umbrella for the beach, along with other convenient items you wouldn't expect from an overpriced resort. The condo was stocked with enough paper products to start off the trip so save your money and drive up the street to Walmart for your extra supplies, ABC stores are pricey on everyday items. The pool is clean and sits right by the ocean, love it for the days we didn't want to drive up to Hapuna Beach, but it's definitely worth the 40 min drive, best beach we went to by far! They have BBQ grills and chairs out by the ocean so you have a perfect spot to watch the sunset. The grounds are kept up immaculately and the grounds crew were very friendly! Perfect spot for our vacation! If we come back to the Big Island, we will stay again! "

Everything in this condo is exactly as shown so we knew what to expect. We picked this condo building because we wanted to be close enough to town to walk and we wanted something ocean front. As most people say the grounds are beautiful everywhere! Sitting ocean front in the lounge chairs and using the barbeques we met many great people and it made the experience even better. My husband is a good swimmer and snorkeled many times right out front and was near dolphins and a manta ray too! Anytime we sat in the lounge chairs in the morning we saw dolphins swimming by and jumping around. The condo had everything we needed and dealing with Knutson when booking was great. Also we contacted them while there when the toilet leaked and they sent a plumber right away to fix it to prevent any damage. You need to be aware that if you leave food out you will get tiny ants right away. Also we would have liked the bedroom to be cooler. It was usually pretty warm for sleeping and the fans just didn't help much and the air conditioner is on a timer. Overall had a great experience and would definitely stay here again."

This condo was exactly what we needed. We were hesitant about where we wanted to stay because of all the options that are available. It's hard to pick! 2-102 was perfect. It's In one of the closer buildings to the ocean, which is what everyone wants, right? The owners did a AMAZING job with the remodel. We loved it! We will be back!! "

"Week in paradise
A beautiful complex, great pool and other amenities. The unit was listed as being updated but the bathroom taps especially the tub unit needs replacing. Also, huge furniture in a small unit do not add appeal and make it crowded. I would like to eat in the unit at a table which was not possible. The kitchen has the cheapest cupboards possile. Not impressive."

"20th yr wedding anniversary vacation
OMG!! One of the best vacations we have ever had. And we have been to Kona many times over the last 10 yrs. What made this trip extraordinary was where we stayed. The condo we rented had a great view as well as acsess to the water to go snorkeling as well as BBQ right at the "edge" of the beautiful coastline. Loved that we could relax in lounge chairs right at the water front. Wi-wi worked great. good location to town. Thank you for providing a place for us!! Already recommend this place to my co-workers. "Apart from the vermins a nice place to stay...
Unfortunately there were vermins in the kitchen and bathroom and by the looks of the drawers they had been there for a longer time. We complained, but nobody answered our calls or e-mails. Though they did some pest control later on (which was either planned before or done because of our complaints,I don't know), it was no help.
Apart from that, the condo and the whole facility was nice."

"Gorgeous views
The initial reservation process was smooth, however when it came to paying the deposit, the associate from Knutson was extremely rude. One should know that Knutson only advertises for owners and they have no recourse should the owner cancel at the last minute. Upon arrival, we were extremely pleased with the location of our condo and its cleanliness. One chair was broken but other than that the condo was well-equipped."

Good location and a nice property. The only down fall is the long walk up the hill for parking and transportation. If you stay in the upper units closer to parking you have the same issue for the pool and BBQ. All in all a nice location."

"My week in Kona Makai
This was a very good place to stay, not tofar from anything I did not rent a car so I did a lot of walking, the beaches and resterants were only a short 10 minute away. The only problem i had was when I first arrived and had a little trouble opening the door, there was a trick to it and after the first time there were not any more problems. All in all I had a very good time and I would strongly recomend this property to anyone."

"Gate code problem
The big problem we had was when we came back to the property after dark and the gate was closed. Nothing in the material we were sent had the gate code, nor was it in the room. I finally got in by guessing it was part of the phone number for the complex. I also had a hard time figuring out how to access the WI-FI. I finally managed to run down the condo manager who gave it to me."

I so enjoyed drinking my morning tea on the balcony looking at the pool and beach and the beautiful landscaping. It was the perfect size for the 3 of us and all in all the perfect place for our stay. I stayed at this unit in Kona Makai and had a very pleasant experience:
• The reservation process was very smooth and the agent was very responsive to all my questions
• The price was very reasonable given the amenities and the location of the unit and property
• The Unit had everything we needed for a confortable stay including a fully equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer, …. As well as all you need for the beach including body boards, beach towels, a beach chair, a cooler…
• The complex is well located, has a nice pool and Jacuzzi, a beautiful and well maintained garden, a ping pong table and several BBQs as well as front seats to a beautiful sunset each evening

Totally lovely; the only reason I didn't rate furniture at the highest is that it was a bit uncomfortable for me. Lower chairs on deck and better couch and chairs would be better. Not complaining though, it was all really lovely"

"Best location for fun in Kona
We were able to observe beautiful sunsets from the lanai and enjoy a peaceful breakfast every morning surrounded by a wonderful lush garden, singing birds, and sounds of the ocean waves. The location is central to everything so it was very convenient for all of our shopping, sight seeing, dining, and activities. Our unit was well stocked with everything imaginable so we saved money on renting beach chairs & boogie boards. Mahalo for a wonderful time."

We really enjoyed our stay at Kona Makai the grounds are gorgeous and the view is great! We saw many whales and spinner dolphins while lounging in the common/pool area. The condo is cute and located a good distance from down town Alli drive. Kona is fabulous!! The condo bathroom and window ledges need a little more TLC with cleaning, but it was a nice touch to have extra beach towels, sunscreen and a boogie board there to use.
I would go back any time :)!! "
