Southern Charm is our dream home that was built after 12 years of vacationing on St. George Island and compiling our favorite features from many of those homes into our own. Southern Charm was completed in the fall of 2003. The Plantation (gated community) in which Southern Charm is located is like slipping into Paradise with its local vegetation, native birds, beautiful Gulf View and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Guests will leave totally relaxed and truly in love with the island.
Floorplan Southern Charm has 3 levels with balconies and porches on Levels 2 and 3. A tiled entry with laundry room greets guests on the 1st level.
2nd Level 2 bedrooms, 2 baths. Extremely open livingroom, dining room and kitchen area. Palm tree decor combines light woods of the kitchen cabinets and Corian countertops with family owned antiques and an antique fireplace mantel. Livingroom is equipped with large TV within built in entertainment center, sleeper sofa and love seat, DVD player, gas fireplace, reading nook with 2 rockers. Kitchen has large refrigerator with ice maker, stove, over the range microwave, and dishwasher. The kitchen is well equipped to bake, entertain or create a seafood feast. Dining table easily seats 6-8 and breakfast bar easily accomodates 4. Table and chairs outside of living room on the porch is a favorite breakfast spot. Palm tree bedroom has queen bed, TV and its own full bathroom. Kids bedroom has twin beds, TV, VCR and overlooks the pool. This bedroom uses hall full bath. Livingroom sliding glass doors open onto covered wrap around porch which extends around to Palm Tree bedroom.
3rd Level Master bedroom with king size bed, huge walk in closet all done in a celestial theme. Entertainment center with large TV and VCR. Bedroom has its own private balcony with spectacular Gulf View. Examine stars at night through provided telescope. Master bath has huge walk in shower with seat, luxurious bath with 2 person Jacuzzi and another great gulf view. 3rd level also includes a loft for reading with a sleeper, loveseat, antique desk, and its own private balcony. Room is accented with stained glass.
FAQs How far is the house from the Beach? I haven’t measured it but a good guess would be 300-400 steps. I’m on the beach within 3 minutes of leaving the house.
Can you see the Ocean? Yes, we have a view of the Gulf. You can see the ocean, between our neighbors houses. We are the 3rd house from the beach.
How do I get to the Beach? Sandy & wooden beach easements are placed approximately every 900ft. within the Plantation. You can walk the sandy path to the west of the house without crossing any streets.
What’s the weather like? The average daily highs are: Jan 62, Feb 63, March 67, April 74, May 82, June 86, July 88, Aug 89, Sept 86, Oct 81, Nov 74, Dec 66.
How do I make a reservation? Begin by clicking Make Rental Inquiry to email us. Our home is professionally managed by a rental agency. We will need basic mailing information to forward a rental agreement and confirmation letter.
What is the Plantation? The Plantation is a private community covering 5 miles of the western end of the island. It is a gated community and offers 24 hr. security. Lots are ½ to 1 acre offering spaciousness and low density. There are about 400 homes. Some of the best fishing in Florida is located at Sikes Cut, available only to owners and Plantation guest.
St. George Island Welcome to beautiful St. George Island, located along Florida's Forgotten Coast. The island is on the Panhandle between Panama City and Tallahassee. The distance from Atlanta is approximately 350 miles and about a 7 hour drive.
St. George Island is a 27 mile long barrier island boasting the best in family-oriented, uncrowded outdoor recreational opportunities. Some of the best fishing in Florida is available by surf fishing off the beach, bring your own boat to fish in the bay or hire one of the many local guides to help you bring home the catch of the day. If you love seafood, you'll find great meals awaiting you at one of the local seafood dealers or enjoy it prepared your way at one of several great restaurants. If you enjoy shopping, you'll love exploring the variety of shops available on the island. Just a short drive away you'll find Apalachicola, a historic and still active fishing village with lovely homes, a marine estuarine, dining, shops and a lovely seaside park.
St. George Island offers nature at its very best. In the spring watch the nesting eagles and ospreys that live on our island. In the summer enjoy the sea, sun and just have fun with your family. Cancellation Policy $100 Administrative fee charged for all cancellations. If the property is not rerented for the canceled period, the entire advance payment will be forfeited. Every effort will be made to rerent the property. If rerented the advance payment less $100 will be returned. Price includes travel insurance.
