|There are few locations on the lake with better views and more history than this gorgeous 2 acre lakefront parcel. The original residence, built in 1934, was among the first homes built on the west shore, complete with pine walls, wrought iron door handles and hand carved stairs. The house is 6 miles south of Tahoe City and a half mile from Homewood Mountain Ski Resort.
Our main house sleeps 10 and the guest house sleeps 4. Between the house and the rocky beach is an ample lawn for volleyball, croquet and other family activities. There is a buoy for renter’s use and a pier, shared with the neighbors, which can be used to load and unload guests and gear from your boat.
INSIDE THE HOUSE
Follow the path from the driveway to the main house where you’ll enter into a rustic kitchen with pine cabinets, dishwasher, stove/oven and microwave. The hallway off the kitchen leads to a full bath with shower/tub combo and two bedrooms, each with two twin beds and a view of the lake.
The hall ends in a great room with a dining table for 10 and a living room with large sofas, a flat-screen TV, gas stone fireplace, and a cozy table near the window. Doors open to the back deck, where there’s a dining table for 8. Upstairs you’ll find a washer and dryer, shared full bath with standing shower, and three more bedrooms: one with two twins and two with king size beds, all with lake views.
The small house, remodeled in 1985, is a quaint 2 story cabin that has a small, but fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom with stand up shower, a great room with a dining table for 8, sofas, a flat screen TV and a gas stone fireplace on the first level. There is a washer and dryer in the back room and an ample outdoor deck downstairs as well. You’ll find two bedrooms upstairs: one with a Cal king log frame bed and one with two twins. Both bedrooms are joined by a “jack and Jill” full bath featuring an old fashioned claw foot tub. This house is very light and bright…bring your eye mask if you are not an early riser.
Our home gives you a glimpse of life along the shore of Tahoe before it became a top tourist attraction. Here’s an example of a perfect Homewood summer day:
• Walk 15 minutes down the bike trail to Obexer’s Market for a latte and a breakfast pastry. They’ll also make you a made-to-order deli sandwich for your picnic lunch.
• Hike up Eagle Rock for a stunning view of the lake.
• Devour a plate of tacos and sip on a Chamber’s Punch at Chamber’s Landing Bar and Grill. (Can be reached by boat or car.)
• Beat the summer traffic by taking a 30 minute ride on the newly remodeled bike trail to Tahoe City. Enjoy one of the many restaurants, shop or rent a raft to float down the Truckee River.
• Wind down your day by strolling 5 minutes down the road to enjoy a fine dining experience at Swiss Lakewood Restaurant and Bar. Start with the escargot and end with a Grand Marnier Souffle!
In winter you’ll enjoy the 2 minute drive to Homewood Mountain Ski Resort or a 5 minute drive to Blackwood Canyon Sno-Park where you can go cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and dog sledding in the peaceful back country. The whole family can spend hours building snow men, forts and sled runs in the front yard.

We accept all major credit cards, and charge a deposit of 10% of the total rental upon booking, with the full payment due 30 days prior to check-in. All reservations which are made more than 10 days in advance of check-in are fully refundable if the guest cancels the reservation within 72 hours after the time of booking. After this cancellation period expires, all payments are non-refundable. The guest who books the property must be 25 years or older unless otherwise noted.
