"Nice building and location - disappointing condo
We spent a week at Colony Reef Club. The location of the building and its amenities (gym, pool, tennis) are great. However, the apartment needs a lot of love. We knew that the apartment wasn't new and not to current standards, but it was worse than we expected. The pictures look nicer than the reality. We had a shock when we entered the apartment. No money has been invested in years: holes in the walls, a derelict and marginally clean kitchen with old appliances and dirty dishes in the cabinets. We had a great view from the patio, but it could had been more pleasant with new patio furniture to replace the rusty table and chairs. Only the master bathroom has been redone at some point. I think the "bronze status" indicates that the condo is not up to current standard but from my point of view, I think this condo lands at the foot of the podium. "

"Another Summer st Colony Reef Club
Our family has been spending our vacation at CRC for over 30 years. We may not have made it every year but we have tried to make it. We started going when our sons were small and now we have grandchildren spending time at Colony Reef. One of our favorite memories is the children playing in the courtyard. Our grandson played baseball almost every evening.
The condo was very clean. The renovated shower in the master bath room was great."

"3402 Bronze Condo
SO the Colony Reef is a great condominium with a perfect location. The access to the beach is great and easy and the pools and amenities were perfect. As far as the condo goes it was more than outdated. I understood that the Bronze level condo is an older unit and generally outdted. That was fien by us as we are generally not that particuler but this condo really needed repair. There were holes in the walls, they didn't have ice for their fridge which is unfortunate when at the beach, they had one roll of toilet paper...which is just annoying. They had basic cable and no smart Tvs so you could not log into your media apps to watch anything so we ended up playing board games and doing puzzles...which is fine but it is kind frustration to not be able to put a movie on for our kids. Overall I would recommend the Colony Reef but I would not recommend this particular condo."

"Great View but Terrible Unit
We've been staying at Colony Reef for over 10 years almost every summer. This was our first poor experience. First off the apartment was dirty. Crumbs of food in the kitchen cabinets. Both bathrooms had black mold in the showers along with hair. We had to go out that night and buy $25 worth of cleaning products to just address that issue.

Second, the description in the rental bio was "fully equipped kitchen". However the dishwasher was unusable. the interior body was rusted out along with the top and bottom racks. We mentioned this in a complaint filed to the office within 24 hours and sent in pictures and never got a response in regards to this issue. Therefore all week we had to hand wash dishes. I'm not opposed to handwashing dishes so long as it is mentioned upfront but it was wrong for the description to be labeled fully equipped.

Third, the refrigerator took a day to get up to an acceptable temperature. I'm not sure if it was turned off at first or if it was having problems but it was problematic the first day. The kitchen also lacked any decent amenities, only one baking sheet, one pot with a deformed lid, spatulas that bent more than a circus performer. The coffee pot also needed a thorough cleaning prior to use. Overall the kitchen equipment is what you would expect to find in your typical college freshman's apartment.

Fourth, the patio furniture was rusted and dirty. the seats weren't comfortable and therefore didn't provide a pleasant experience when trying to enjoy the view.

Fifth, the carpet is blue not beige as in the photos. It was mentioned in the last sentence of the listing but it totally changes the feel of the place. It felt cold and dark, not what you want at a beach property.

Overall I would stay at Colony Reef again but I would not stay in this unit. "

"Rental
The unit we rented was very outdated! They have carpet of all things in a beach condo. The kitchen needed to be stocked with basic cooking utensils. Pots have no lids. Cabinets wouldn’t close."

"Amazing view
We loved the design of the the complex with the pool and beach so close and everyone should have a view of the beach. Everyone we met from staff to other tourists were so very nice. The downside, they were a little stingy with the linens and the unit in general was very worn out. The dish washer barely worked, most of the cupboards didn't close, plus the flooring of the deck was crumbling like ancient ruins. With a little TLC this place could look as beautiful as the view. "

"Enjoyable weekend
The condo complex appeared well maintained. The small indoor pool served us well, as we were there during a brief cold snap. The condo itself was ok. It mentioned not have been remodeled in a while, which wasn’t a deterrent for us. However, they could do a couple easy, simple and inexpensive things to improve the stay. The water pressure is terrible. That is a complex issue. The owners could fix the kitchen cabinets to hang correctly. The blinds could be fixed to ensure proper open and close, as well as turning to allow different levels of light. The main bathroom, not master, has such a slippery bathtub that I wouldn’t let my toddler bathe in it. The televisions all have multiple remotes, which none worked completely or consistently. It is 2021, get a smart tv for each room you have a tv, allow people to log into their own streaming services, and remove the confusion of how to work your TVs. Also, we had an issue the second night with the entrance gate for the complex, it closed and struck my sisters car. It counted off with no damage, but the gentleman who was at the gate when I called to alert them seemed to not be able to understand anything I was saying. It was not a language issue, but simple comprehension. The condo complex employee did reach out to us on the next business day, and offered a defensive and somewhat dismissive response to the situation. On a plus side, the walk to the beach was much closer than the pictures online looked. For hauling 3 kids, a wagon of stuff, and 3 adults, that was a nice surprise. However, you do have to lift your wagon up over a couple stairs to get to the beach, so careful that you’re not overloaded, or on your own, getting everything to the beach. Lastly, the unit provides you exactly 1 trash bag, in the trash can in the kitchen, and only whatever toilet paper is left on the roll. I don’t believe it mentions that. Overall, I believe we would consider this complex for future vacations, but maybe n"

"Enjoyed our stay
Beautiful view. Condo unit was very clean and spacious. A few items could use a little updating, but that would not deter me from staying there again. We loved it. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

"Family Vacation
Our family loves staying at Colony Reef. This unit has a beautiful view but would be great to add ceiling fan to balcony."

"All good but missing some details
Overall, we always have an amazing time in Colony Reef. This year I had a couple incidents that really lowered my experience though. The security gate was broken the entire time, including the day that we arrived at the apartment. No communication was received on what to do in case of this problem and I tried calling every single number in your documents and nobody responded nor was helpful at all. When I wanted to call during the week for another small issue, exact same experience which was very disappointing. We were finally let in by a resident that helped up physically push the gate to at least get inside to the tell guard, not a good experience at all not sure why there is no way to at least contact that guard employee.
The apartment itself was nice and great view, but only offered one toilet paper roll per bathroom for the 10 day stay which is annoying and such a small cost for the apartment but inconvenience for renters it seems like an easy fix and detail. There were also not enough pots in the kitchen, but did have all other necessities. "

"Day 5
I understand BRONZE however the cleaning was not up to par on arrival. Broken slider, lamp, towel bars, outside lamp where not in working condition. The staff have been great responding to issues especially Mark from maintenance.Natalie was great providing new pots & pans."

"Review of 3402
Had an amazing time. We brought our entire family to Colony Reef for one week. Rented two units with 3402 being one of them. Fantastic week of beach fun, pool fun and just being together"

"Excellent place to spend a few winter months
We stayed here last winter and returned because it is welcoming and because of proximity to the beach."
Feb 20, 2018 - John H., Ophelia, VA

"First Condo Beach Visit
We enjoyed our stay but we had trouble finding our code for the gate to enter. We actually never got our own code but used one from another guest. We stayed in unit 3402 and the guest bathroom shower didn't work very well and the clothes dryer took two and three cycles to dry a small load of laundry and yes we kept the lint cleaned out after every load. The dead bolt on the door never would lock. The master bath shower had black mold in spots which I felt could have been cleaned a bit better. We would like to return again next summer and possibly look into a three bedroom Silver unit. Can you please advise us of cost and what is available for arrival on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 and departing on the following Saturday. "
