We arrived to a clean, cool & comfortable condo that was ready to use. It was a great experience that began when we entered the property. We would definitely recommend to others and will look for this unit with Brooks and Shorey again."

"Some good, some bad
Most everything about the unit was OK. We did have a few issues, but all were related to the cleanliness of the unit. It was not cleaned very well after the previous renters left. While we were doing our own cleaning of the kitchen counters, we spotted a roach crawl across the counter. A pest person came later in the week to inspect but he didn't feel the place was infested. We would have had to leave the unit for several hours for him to treat it so we opted not to. We ended up seeing a few more roaches during our stay. We were also missing kitchen towels when we arrived, but later found them dirty in the laundry room. Not sure why the cleaning crew left the dirty ones there and didn't provide clean ones. We also noticed a lot of pet hair throughout the unit. We were under the impression that pets were not to be allowed."

"Florida Vacation
The location of the unit was great. However the unit is way too old, everything from furnitures to pots and pans to all the faucets, shower. I felt like I was in a 80s show. Will not stay there again.

We have rented from b and s over 9 times this time we walked in to a dusty dirty condo with 3 inch dust bunnies and 1/2 inch dust on ceiling fans .. stove burners were sticking up out of burner cavities ... sliding door was too difficult to open to balcony so first day everyone had to go out thru bedroom sliding door , toilets were horribly stained , black mold on outside furniture, rug was stained maintence did come quickly for the sliding door but the w D 40 fix didn’t last longer than 1 day , we love brooks and shorey not sure if decreased staff might be a cause for this but it was in one word disappointing. "

"2021 Vacay
The area was absolutely beautiful and very convenient to shopping, eating and entertainment. The rental process was very easy, however, the unit we stayed in was not up to par. It needs repairs and upgrades immediately. It’s very outdated and that’s not what we were expecting from the photos listed."

We loved it so much we booked it for the following year. There's nothing like falling asleep or waking up to all those sounds an the views everyday. This is a must when you want to escape the daily grind or just your daily life."

"You won’t be sorry you picked this place!
Great location! We wanted a top floor rental with a great beach view and we got all that and more! Less than 7 minutes to the grocery and we were all set! Fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, pretty clean inside (outside should been attended more often) and steps away from the beach, where we were guaranteed a beach set up every day. We were quite pleased!"

"Amazing vacation rental !
This rental was amazing! It was clean , beautiful views with convenient pool & beach access. We had no issues while we were there. We will stay here again for sure! All details offered were spot on. We had complementary beach chairs & umbrella daily for use so we didn’t have to drag ours around. There were plenty & we didn’t have to worry about having a spot. We could see fireworks at the pier from our balcony. A 8 min ride to Destin for tons of activities. Quite a few restaurants within walking distance as well as multiple gift shops , gas stations and a liquor store. "

Quick and fun long weekend getaway. Gulf Dunes Condo is in a great location directly on the beach with easy access and beach service! We liked the quick and easy access to both Fort Walton Boardwalk (walking distance along the beach) and Destin just a few minutes drive away! Weather while we were there was not great, but we enjoyed fishing on Okaloosa Pier even in the rain! We liked that Okaloosa Island is less crowded than Destin or Pensacola but still very close to all the great attractions. Our condo was bright and clean, although not as updated in decor or amenities/appliances as some of the other places we have stayed. Overall, we were very happy with our stay."

We loved the condo, it was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The balcony is spacious and the view is amazing! We loved having 2 chairs and an umbrella available everyday. The only thing that we didn't like were the slow elevators."

Took my sister and my son for a week's stay. No plans and no agenda. We slept, ate, talked, and slept some more...all with that beautiful view. I come to Gulf Shores quite often and am so happy with each visit. #615 was superb!"

Fabulous condo. Bright, clean, and cheery. Has everything our family needs for a comfortable vacation. Top notch ocean view. The Gulf Dunes has free movie rentals, gym, outdoor pool, grill area, and direct walkway to the beach. None of the fuss of more crowded hotels we have stayed at in other beach locations. "

"Vaca with the grandkids
The condo was beautifully decorated and well maintained. The TV's were great. It didn't have a DVD player in the living so we had to have a movie night in the master bedroom. The buildings elevators screeched all the time. Quite unsettling. All in all it was a wonderful vacation. "

"Nice Condo
We've stayed at Gulf Dunes before but first time in this condo. It was nice and comfortable. Pretty " beachy" decor. Probly only thing missing for me was a large mirror in master bedroom for hair and makeup. No big deal though. Would definitely stay again. "

The unit was great. Couldn't ask for a better stay. We did have one mishap when the microwave went out one evening but the Brooks and Shorey staff had it replaced the next morning resulting in no problems for us."

"Dream condo for a dream vacation!
Words could not do justice to how amazing our home-away-from-home was. This condo was perfect in every way, shape and form! We were so very pleased with the accommodations! We have 3 children, so them being able to have their own bed was great, and I love how it really felt like we at home. We loved the free DVD rental machine, especially after long days out. Opening the master bedroom balcony doors at night made sleeping an ultimate dream while listening to the beach and taking in the moonlight gulf. The management team and neighbors were all very exceptional! We do travel a lot, and I have to say, this has been one of the best places we had ever stayed in. It really surprised us because this condo was cheaper than others we were considering before booking, but it blew everything else out of the water when we arrived! The location, view, management and set-up were all spot-on! We definitely will look into returning again in the future!"

"Great condo
This condo was everything we Cold ask for. The view was second to none. It had all to amenities you need. The only draw back was the shower water pressure. They were working on the water so maybe the issue is resolved. Other than that I would recommend this condo."

"Relaxing vacation

"We had a great time!
We were pleased with everything about the unit and complex. We found everything we needed during our stay. The view and location were very nice. The area was very quiet and we felt very safe. Anything we needed outside of the unit/complex was just within minutes driving in the car. Within walking distance of the unit were 3 gift shops, a Tom Thumb market and a Waffle House - just a little further walk (about 20 minutes) was the pier and 'Boardwalk' area."

This condo was substituted because the one I originally booked was near construction. I was impressed that the management (Caroline) was looking out for us like that. We felt at home and every moment was breathtaking. This was out first time at the beach and we were hooked. The views, the sounds, and the comfort of the condo made this the best vacation we've ever had. We are definitely coming back!"

"A Wonderful Vacation Week in a Superb Condo
The furnishings were very nice and comfortable. I loved the fact that the condo wasn't cluttered with excess furniture. We had plenty of seating and did not have to navigate around unnecessary stuff. This also made the condo seem larger. The view of the Gulf was spectacular. We had our coffee on the deck and watched the sun hit the water in the mornings.
Two things I would change/fix: (1) Trade the lousy toaster oven for a toaster! (2) Oil the sliding door in the LR so that it isn't so hard to open and close.
I would definitely stay here again."

"Summer 2014
Our vacation experience was over the top. The staff was beyond friendly. The Gulf Dunes 615 was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. My little girl loved the purple colored couch. The beds were very comfortable. Also, the photographs on the wall were amazing. I am a hobbiest photographer and I really enjoyed looking at them. The cabinet was stocked with Don's Seafood glasses. Absolutely my most favorite place to eat. We often take a drive to Hammond to indulgde in the fried shrimp and Jacked up Oysters. The Aligator in the hallway was a hit with my 2 year old son. He loved to growl at it. Everything was perfect. I have been coming to Ft Walton Beach for 15 years and have stayed at Gulf Dunes for the past 5. I loved this unit and hope it is available when we book our trip next June. Had a great time!"

"Great Vacation Spot
This was a great condo, on the beach, very convenient, quiet, clean, view is amazing. The kids loved the movie rentals, I loved the air conditioning, kept the condo very cool! Kitchen was much bigger than I thought, ice machine came in handy! Full size washer and dryer was a big plus. The only negative I have is the "green slime" in the ocean on this part of the beach, from what we heard from the beach chair service guy, Christian, this happens every year. The kids didn't care, but it was kind of gross. You had to go out about 100ft to get away from the June Grass they called it. This would be the only reason we wouldn't come back. But we still might, everything else was perfect."

"Great Week in Ft Walton Beach
This my families second time to stay at Gulf Dunes. The property is really nice & located right on the water. The property is very family friendly. It is also very easy to get to & has easy access to pretty much anywhere in the Destin/Ft Walton Beach area.
The only minor complaints I have are as follows: There was really no comfortable place to sit. The couches looked to be old, not comfortable, & did not smell very good. Probably time to replace them. The grill area was nice but needed to have grill scrapers attached. All the grills were dirty."

"Comfortable Condo - Amazing Location on the Beach
Although the furnishings and appliances are outdated, the condo was comfortable and served our needs. Complex maintenance needs to be more responsive. A drain by the pool was clogged for days - nasty! One of two elevators did not work for days! However, the location on the beach is amazing! Loved the view of the beach facing the water!"

"Family Visit
The Gulf Dunes 615 was more than expected. Took my younger son to visit my older son and his family. My two grandchildren stayed a couple of nights with us and we had great fun on the beach, playing games in the room and visiting some local attractions. The two bedrooms and bunk room were perfect for us. Next time we visit, we will definitely try to reserve this property."

"Love Ft. Walton,the beach and the Gulf Dunes!
We had a wonderful time and the Gulf Dunes was better than we expected.The only thing that I would recommend is handicap bars in the tub and shower. I walk on a cane and it was hard for me to take a shower because I didn't have anything to hold on too. Otherwise we were happy. Beautiful view!!!"

"Photos don't do it justice
I expected the pictures on the web site to be be much nicer than the condo. Actually I thought the condos looked a little questionable on the web page...BUT we were pleasantly surprised - it was nicer and cleaner than a high end hotel. It was roomy and in a great location. I was impressed there were after hours check in instructions and the instructions for vacating were clear. I gave the management 3 stars because they certainly won't go out of their way to help you, which we're not used to.
We would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone that had 4+ people in their group. Can't beat the view!"

"Very Happy even though weather was not great
Condo was in medium condition - sofa and loveseat are hard as a rock and no springs are left in them! TV in living room would not work we had to use the one in the bedroom - we had a lot of rainy weather otherwise the tv wouldn't have been a concern. Carpet in master bedroom was lumpy ? and had a smell. Otherwise condo was mostly clean and we had everything we needed."

"615 Gulf Dunes
I spoke to the representative at the desk before we left about the leaking water faucet in the kitchen. I alsotold her that the tile floors and the carpoeting were rather dirty. This includes the throw rugs in the kitchen and baths. I am not a pickey person, but I do think that the floors and carpets need to be cleaned. The soles of my feet were black when I went in my bare feet."

"Nice location
This was a great location. There were no crowds, and all the Destin attractions were a short drive away. The only complaint would be that the unit never got really cold even with all doors closed and curtains pulled to block the sunlight. Also the unit was a little dusty in some places., which was a little unnerving given the cleaning fee that was charged. Overall, this was a good location and would consider returning here."
