Award-winning Golf
Princeville is historically a plantation. In 1968, it became a golf course and resort called Princeville at Hanalei. Today, Princeville continues its golf tradition at the
Princeville Makai Golf Club.
This ocean-view golf course is listed among the Top 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses in America, and National Geographic Traveler named it one of the Top 5 Great Golf Settings. That's easy to believe, with five ocean front holes providing spectacular views. The golf club completed a multi-million dollar renovation in 2010, so it has every modern convenience you could want. You can rent everything you need to golf here, so you don't have to worry about traveling with your clubs or storing them in your Princeville beach house rental (even though there is plenty of room to do so).
Outdoor Adventures
For fast-paced fun, visit
Princeville Ranch Adventures. One of their most popular attractions is the Zip and Dip take a ride on the zipline over the forest canopy, then go to the hidden swimming hole to cool off. If you bring a friend, you can share the adventure by taking parallel zipline rides at the same time! You can also go on a guided off road trip, horseback ride, waterfall hike, or kayak adventure. And since all of these trips include a picnic lunch, you won't have to worry about whipping up a meal in your beach house kitchen.
Another visitor favorite outdoor venue is
Queen's Bath.
This natural pool is the size of several swimming pools, and it is carved into a lava shelf. It is a tide pool, meaning that it's a separate pool from the ocean, depending on the tides. Marine life can be viewed in Queen's Bath, including sea urchins and angelfish. If you plan a visit here, be sure to come in the spring or summer;in the winter, Queen's Bath experiences high surf conditions, which can be dangerous.
Truly Tropical Beaches
Close your eyes and imagine a tropical beach. Now open your eyes to see that Hideaways Beach matches your daydream with its clear water and bright sand. This crescent-shaped beach can only be accessed by a difficult climb down a steep path, but metal poles and ropes are there to help you down. This challenging entrance ensures that the beach maintains a feeling of seclusion and relaxation. The rocky sea floor makes this a perfect spot for snorkeling when the water is calm. The steep climb, rocky floor, and lack of facilities make this beach feel truly natural and wild, but it also means that this is not an ideal spot for families with young children. If you want to swim or rent watercraft, you should visit Hanalei Bay, which offers excellent conditions for surfing, sailing, kayaking, and swimming. Po'ipu Beach is the ideal spot for families. Crystal-clear waters are calm and provide a safe place to snorkel and swim, and the lifeguards, showers, and pavilions make this an excellent venue for family fun.
